DropRune is the friendship between Time Rune Marker and Dropout Marker from the Find the Markers fandom.
Canon[]
In the Washable Kingdom update, both Dropout Marker and Time Rune Marker were featured on the game icon. This continued until the St. Patrick’s Day update on March 5th, 2023, when the icon was changed.
When interacting with Dropout Marker, players have the option to ask for hints about finding Time Rune Marker. Dropout Marker provides various responses—some genuine hints, while others are misleading. After each hint, regardless of its accuracy, the player comments that it was unhelpful and requests a better hint.
The actual hints provided by Dropout Marker include:
- You can't collect the time relics without a map.
- The relics aren't buried inside structures.
- You have to get as close to the X on the map as possible; you won’t see the relic until you're very close.
- You can't actually see them since they’re in the ground.
- You can't carry more than one relic at a time.
- The relics are in the present.
- Look for sparkles.
- His corkboard may be able to help you.
Dropout Marker’s corkboard does provide useful information on where to find the relics, such as noting that the Fantasy Forest relic is located in the forest biome. However, he also sometimes gives non-helpful responses, like teasing that he was about to give a hint but decided not to.

In some dialogue options, Dropout Marker doesn’t directly mention the Time Rune Marker but instead talks about his studies on time travel. He comments that each time he thinks he’s making progress, something new and complicated arises.
One of the primary hints for finding Time Rune Marker is "Checking Dropout Marker may help."
Once players collect Time Rune Marker, they can read his description, which includes a line about "using his power to taunt an exhausted researcher who is close to uncovering his secrets." This line references Dropout Marker, confirming that Time Rune Marker is aware of Dropout’s attempts to study time travel and has been intentionally toying with him.
Fanon[]
Despite the lack of canonical interaction between Time Rune Marker and Dropout Marker, their dynamic has sparked interest among fans. Time Rune’s penchant for taunting Dropout adds an intriguing layer to their relationship, leading some to speculate about the possibilities if they were to meet. However, since they exist in different timelines—Dropout Marker in the present and Time Rune Marker in the Washable Kingdom’s past—most fans don’t ship them, even platonically.
Nonetheless, the concept of bridging their timelines has captivated some members of the fandom. Imagining a scenario where Dropout Marker is transported to the Washable Kingdom opens up endless creative avenues. Fans envision amusing and whimsical interactions, where Dropout could confront Time Rune about his playful teasing, or perhaps team up with him for time-related adventures. This twist on their relationship allows for unique storytelling opportunities, exploring themes of friendship and rivalry while navigating the complexities of time travel.
Overall, while they may not have a typical shipping dynamic, the idea of bringing Dropout Marker into Time Rune Marker’s world captivates the imagination, offering a playful exploration of their potential connection in fanon.
