Canon[]
In June 1985, Dustin returns home from the month-long science camp where he met and began dating Suzie. He reunites with his friends and shows them Cerebro, a ham radio he created to talk to Suzie, who lives in Utah. As they set it up on a hill, Dustin explains that he cannot contact Suzie by phone because her parents would never approve of their relationship because she is Mormon and he is not. He points out that they are star-crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet. Dustin and his friends then assemble the radio, but his attempt to contact Suzie is unsuccessful.
After Dustin reunites with Steve, he tells him about Suzie. Dustin says that Suzie does not care about his cleidocranial dysplasia because she believes that "kissing is better without teeth".
When Dustin needs Planck's constant so that Hopper and Joyce can unlock the safe containing the keys to shut down the machine the Russians have developed, he contacts Suzie via Cerebro. Suzie asks Dustin where he has been and he replies that he has been busy saving the world from Russians and monsters, which makes Suzie giggle. Dustin asks Suzie about Planck's constant, but not understanding the urgency of the situation, Suzie points out that Dustin has not contacted her in a week and now he wants a mathematical equation he is supposed to know. Dustin promises to make it up to her as soon as possible, but Suzie says that he can make it up to her now. Dustin then reluctantly duets with her on the theme song from The NeverEnding Story. When they are done, she gives him Planck's constant and Dustin tells her that she just saved the world. The two then confess how much they have missed each other before an irritated Erica turns off the radio.
In March 1986, Dustin contacts Suzie and asks her to help him change his failing grade in Latin. Suzie hacks into the computer system of Hawkins High School and reluctantly changes Dustin's grade, promising her statue of Jesus that she will repent later. At school, Dustin tells Mike that Suzie is a certified genius.
Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle later go to Suzie's house to ask for her help in locating a computer. They do not tell her the real reason why they need to find its location, instead saying that they are trying to win a new video game console to give to Dustin for his birthday, which Suzie says is in "two months, three days, five hours". She tells them that she would do anything for Dustin, but after her father found out that she changed Dustin's grade and that she was dating an agnostic, he confiscated her computer and started using it for work. She apologizes for not being able to help them, but then she hears her older sister trying to control her unruly younger brother and says there might be a way. Suzie has her younger siblings distract their father while she, Mike, Will and Jonathan break into his office to use his computer. She gets the location and prints out a map of the coordinates for them, and Mike says that Dustin was right when he said that she was a certified genius.

Fanon[]
Duzie was more of a crack ship in the fandom during the earlier season when Dustin was trying to convince The Party that he had a girlfriend. There was a good chance that it was still treated as crack even after it was revealed that Suzie was real and dating Dustin, since the names they called each other were presented in comedic relief, such as "Dusty buns" and "Suzie-poo". However, after the Neverending Story scene, this pairing was treated more seriously and, although more of a side pairing, is still loved by fans. Duzie shippers often hope to see them have their own moments in Season 5, and were happy to see how much of a role Suzie played in the story.
Duzie is often shipped with Mileven, Lumax, or Byler. It mainly competes with Henclair, Dustin's most popular slash ship.
On AO3, Duzie is the most-written ship for Suzie and the most-written het ship for Dustin.
