EdgeJeanist is the slash ship between Tsunagu Hakamada and Shinya Kamihara from the My Hero Academia fandom.
Canon[]
Tsunagu and Shinya have known each other since their UA days. They were close friends, and even created the "Textile Arts Association" club together. After graduation, both became Pro Heroes. They were known to team up on many occasions, such as during the Naruhata Lockdown Arc, despite not being official partners. This shows that they have an innate trust in one another. Later, Tsunagu and Shinya both participate in the Hideout Raid.
Tsunagu and Shinya are placed on the same team during the Final War, and are sent to face off against Tomura Shigaraki. Tsunagu is there with one of his former mentees, Katsuki Bakugou, the only first year student assigned to fight Shigaraki. Tsunagu and Shinya both hold their own in the fight, and join the other Pros in ensuring that Katsuki and the other students are kept safe. However, Shigaraki strikes a fatal blow to Katsuki that none of the Pros can save him from. Katsuki falls to the ground, and his heart stops. Tsunagu and Shinya stand by him, mourning his death and deciding what to do next.
Shinya, realizing that Katsuki is an important player in the battle, tells Tsunagu that he will use his Quirk to restart Katsuki's heart. Tsunagu is shocked, and warns Shinya that he might not be able to come back from that. Shinya agrees, but says it is a sacrifice he is willing to make. Using his Quirk, Foldabody, Shinya enters Katsuki's wound. From the outside, Tsunagu uses his own Quirk to try and assist as well.
Fanon[]
Support for EdgeJeanist has grown immensely since the release of the seventh season of the anime. Both characters were considered minor/supporting in the previous seasons, but had the chance to take the spotlight during the Final War. Their history together was also revealed, and some fans were quick to draw parallels between them and EraserMic, another pair of Pro Heroes who went to UA together. Despite all of this, it is still considered somewhat of a rarepair in the fandom.
While Shinya and Tsunagu worked to bring Katsuki Bakugou back to life, fans liked to joke about them performing open heart surgery together. Other fans liked to take the image of Shinya, stretched so thin from sacrificing himself to save Katsuki, and apply the popular "Would you still love me if I was a worm?" meme to it.
There are currently just shy of 100 works on AO3 for this pairing. It is Tsunagu's fourth most popular ship, and Shinya's most popular.
