EggSage is the family ship between Eggman and Sage from the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom.
Canon[]
Sonic Frontiers[]
Sage is an advanced AI created by Eggman to take control of the ancient technology of the Starfall Islands. In the prologue comic, Sage is only a voice assisting Eggman. With the arrival of Sonic, Eggman speeds up his plans, and against the AI's warnings, downloads it into a deployable system, which presumably gives Sage her humanoid form. As seen in the Egg Memos, Sage was crucial to his survival in Cyber Space, and Eggman grows to be very impressed by her capabilities and wits. Although he tries to see her as "just a program," he eventually warms up to considering Sage his daughter.
They are first seen interacting when Eggman is trapped in Cyber Space. Eggman commands Sage to keep tabs on Sonic and to continue finding him a way out of Cyber Space. Later, Eggman asks for updates on getting him out of the digital dimension. Sage replies that out of the millions of simulations she’s run, she still hasn’t found a way to safely get him out. Eggman tells her to make it her number one priority and leaves, and Sage conflictingly says that keeping him safe is her priority.
In one of Sage’s confrontations with Sonic, she says that Father was right in calling him dangerous and destructive. Sonic notices that she’s trying to protect someone and asks her what’s going on. Sage is shocked and tells him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Sage tells Eggman about one of Sonic’s battles. Eggman is amused at her description of Sonic getting defeated. Eggman says he looks forward to her battle reports once they’re home. He elaborates that he’ll integrate her into the EggNet and have her network all the robots, a “refreshing change of pace” from Orbot and Cubot. Sage questions that since they are also Eggman’s creations, if that makes them her brothers. Eggman nonchalantly replies that he supposes so, and Sage happily looks forward to meeting them.
Sage informs Eggman that Sonic has entered and escaped Cyber Space multiple times, which Eggman finds impressive. Sage is confused that Eggman speaks of Sonic with both respect and hate. Eggman says that although he hates the hedgehog, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s a formidable adversary. Sage muses on how they could work together, with Eggman’s genius and Sonic’s skill.
Later, Sage tells Eggman that she's found a potential way to get him out of Cyber Space: create an alliance with Sonic. Eggman vehemently refuses. Sage tries to argue with the past times Eggman and Sonic have successfully worked together, but he states those were purely out of desperation. Eggman leaves, and Sage says that she admires his tenacity, but wishes he'd reconsider.
When Sage watches Sonic and Tails, she realizes they are a family born out of love, the type of family she's always wanted. She reflects back on her time spent with Eggman.
After Sonic shuts down the six towers, everyone trapped in Cyber Space is released. Sage tells Eggman he needs to get back into Cyber Space before "it" gets out. However, she is too late and the voice that was guiding Sonic reveals itself as the villain, The End. Sage desperately pleads Eggman to make an alliance with Sonic, as that is their only chance. Eggman reluctantly agrees.
Once Super Sonic defeats the fourth Titan, Supreme, The End flees to space to regain its true form. Sage tells Eggman that not even Sonic would be able to defeat it, so she has to leave in order to help stop it. Eggman understands and reluctantly tells her to go fulfil her function. Sage uses the shell of Supreme and flies off with Super Sonic. Eggman tells her to be careful, calling Sage "dear daughter."
Sage perishes dealing the final blow to The End, with her last words being to please look after Father. As Sonic reunites with his friends, Eggman mournfully gazes at the sky, clenching his fist. In the last credits scene, Eggman is determinedly typing at a computer and successfully revives Sage.
The Final Horizon[]
In the alternate ending campaign, Sage deduced a different approach to defeating The End, encouraging Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles and, begrudgingly, Eggman to go along with it. After Sonic masters his Cyber Corruption, transforming it into a power source for himself, and his friends find six of seven Chaos Emeralds, Eggman finds the last one. Before and during Sonic's battle against the titan Supreme, he expresses both bewilderment and jealousy at Sage's transformation and powers. When The End uses Supreme to attack Eggman, Sage forms a shield in front of him. After The End is defeated, Eggman and Sage watch the starfall together.

Fanon[]
After the release of Sonic Frontiers, Eggman and Sage’s father-daughter relationship grew popular. People find the relationship sweet and appreciate how it humanizes Eggman as a character. However, some criticize this dynamic for being rushed and/or making Eggman too soft. Regardless, the relationship gained a following, with fans making fan art and fic after the game's release. Many like to depict Metal Sonic as her brother, since his familial relationship with Eggman is also popular. On AO3, EggSage is the most written ship for Sage and the fifth most written for Eggman. There are currently 75+ written works.

- On the 7th Twitter Takeover, Eggman was asked which of the machines he's built is his favorite. Eggman answered: "Not a robot per say, but I'd be remiss not to mention the twinkle of my eye and the reason I keep existing, my darling daughter Sage."[1]
