Einheid is the het ship between Arnheid and Einar from the Vinland Saga fandom.

Canon

Farmland Saga

Neither character makes an appearance in season one, as they are introduced during the Ketil's farm arc in the manga and anime of Vinland Saga. Einar first saw Arnheid from afar when he was telling Thorfinn that they should tell Ketil how the farmhands were treating them. Einar was lovestruck at first sight, automatically developing a one-sided crush on her that he harbors for the rest of the season.

Arnheid does not appear to reciprocate his feelings, though she does value him as a friend. They are depicted speaking. When Thorfinn walks off while they're talking, Einar considers that he may be acting considerate. Thorfinn later outright asks if Einar is in love with Arnheid, though he denies it.

When Einar is given an opportunity by Ketil to buy himself back, he hopes that he will be able to free Arnheid as well. However, he is disheartened to realize that her role as slave differs from his and Thorfinn's. Arnheid is Ketil's personal attendant or, more specifically, his sex slave.

When Gardar, Arnheid's husband appears on Ketil's farm looking for Arnheid, Einar shows concern for Arnheid when Snake and his men get violent with the violent escaped slave. He nearly rushes in to protect her (and, by extension, Gardar) before being stopped and talked down by Thorfinn.

Einar and Thorfinn express concern for Arnheid as they discuss what is happening. Einar is focused on helping Arnheid escape, with Gardar, but she shoots his suggestions down. Arnheid reveals that she is pregnant with Ketil's child and that she intends to do what is best her unborn baby.

The next morning, however, Snake's men go to the farm and start their search for Gardar. This makes Thorfinn and Einar realize that Gardar has escaped confinement. Einar automatically goes rushing to look for Arnheid, concerned for her safety. Upon meeting Arnheid again, him and Thorfinn decide to help Arnheid escape with Gardar.

Einar is horrified and shaken when he sees Arnheid after she was beaten by Ketil. Einar rushes to her bedside, but Petar informs him not to touch her. Einar complies but remains near her, concerned for her wellbeing as she is unconscious.

In "War at Ketil’s Farm" (S2EP19), Arnheid starts coughing so Petar has Einar turn her on her side, so she doesn't get vomit or blood caught in her throat.

While Ketil and Canute's armies are in the middle of battle, Leif allows Einar and Thorfinn to bring Arnheid along on the wagon. Einar sits in the wagon near Arnheid, telling the others not to jostle her too much. Arnheid dreams as she is dying of seeing a stag and a wolf together in the forest, representing Einar and Thorfinn. Arnheid regains consciousness, to thank Einar and the others. She wakes up and asks if it's really him.   

ARnheid wakes up and comments how she hears the sound of war. Einar tells her that they are not slaves anymore and that they are leaving the farm and that the war has nothing to do with them. Arnheid asks where they will go and if there are wars and slaves there. Leif answers that there are wars there. Arnheid decides that she will go to Gardar and her children who are waiting for her, in death.

Einar pleads with her not go and reminds her that she promised to stay alive for her child's sake. Arnheid opens her eyes once more and tells him that the baby is already gone. That everyone she loved is gone. Though she appreciated his morning talks and that it brought happiness to her desolate life as a slave. Arnheid thanks Einar and Thorfinn once more, succumbing to her wounds just as Einar starts to tell her that he loves her.

Thorfinn tries desperately to resuscitate her, while Einar speaks loudly - telling her that he loves her, to not leave him, and that he wants to continue making her laugh with his stories. Arnheid has already succumbed to her wounds, however, even when Einar takes over Thorfinn's attempts at resuscitating her.

When seeing Snake carrying an unconscious Ketil, Einar nearly gives into his rage with a desire to kill Ketil for murdering Arnheid. Even punching Thorfinn in the face for trying to stop him. Thorfinn manages to stop him before he gives into his urges by punching him, getting him to see reason.

Fanon

Einheid is a smaller ship despite Einar's crush on her, likely because her character is primarily relegated to one arc before her tragic death. Not to mention, her canonical marriage with Gardar and Einar's feeling being canonically one-sided. A more popular ship for Einar is Einfinn. However, Einheid currently has 8 fics on A03.
