“When we were sparring this last time, I was thinking... The way you move, so like the wind. It was like watching a beautiful dance.”
— Eliwood to Lyn

Elilyn is the het ship between Eliwood and Lyn from the Fire Emblem Blazing Sword fandom.

Canon[]

Lyn and Eliwood are protagonists of the 7th Fire Emblem game, he is a noble from Pherae and Lyn is a nomad that discovered that she is a noble heiress from the same kingdom. Their first encounter is when Lyn got the revelation about her ancestry as the heiress of the house of Caelin, and by chance she meets Eliwood who was passing the lands to meet his friend Hector. Together they fight bandits, and Eliwood decides to help Lyn in her quest, but she denies his help. Later though she somewhat accepts his assistance in political matters, with Eliwood asking for the nearby dukedoms to stay neutral on Lyn's quest to meet her grandfather, the ruler of Caelin.

One year later, by fate, they meet again when Eliwood set travel to seek his disappeared father, lord Elbert; and Lyn fled her castle after a coup d'etat installed to take her out from the throne. She encountered Eliwood while hiding and he gladly assists Lyn in her plight, therefore after the issue is resolved she decided to join Eliwood in his quest as a way to pay the favour. Since then, they set a journey together, fighting side by side and growing as close as ever.

Lyn and Eliwood are amiable in the story, with Eliwood eventually looking up to Lyn and admiring her drive and confidence. Lyn on the other hand shows to have a protective demeanor towards Eliwood who she sees as frailer, as seen in the CD drama. In their conversation, Lyn asks Eliwood to make her feel beautiful and teach her to act as a true noblewoman. Eliwood also comments about Lyn's beauty to Hector, who teases him about his attraction to Lyn.

Lyn and Eliwood then declare their love in the Dragon Gate in the end of the game. Eliwood succeeds his late father as the marquess of Pherae.

The marquess of Pherae and the princess of Caelin were wed after the conflict. All of Lycia was in an uproar, but none could sunder their bond of love. They have a son named Roy, who will become a great hero. It's state that Roy's mother eventually died, but the cause of Lyn's death is unknown.

Children[]

Roy

Roy is the heir of Pherae, and a noble of Caelin through Lyn, known as the lion of Pherae. He is also descendant of Heroes through his mother and father's side; Roland on both and Hanon through his mother. When war broke through the kingdoms, he set to battle, leading her ever growing army and ending the conflict. He is the protagonist of Fire Emblem: Binding Blade.

Fanon[]

Eliwood and Lyn are a very popular pairing due to the status of both as protagonists and they close bond. They are often portrayed as a being part of love triangle that almost always involves Hector, Ninian, Florina or Fiora, in which Lyn and Eliwood end up choosing to marry each other in the end. They have the dynamic of friends turned into lovers, in a slow burn style of relationship. The fictions and discussions also speculate the post war life, focusing on the marriage between Eliwood and Lyn, they raising their son Roy, and what would be the cause of Lyn's death.

The ship is also supported by those who appreciated and interpreted as a ship tease the presence of Lyn and her then son Roy interacting in the Awakwning DLC, they being together in SmashBros and in the Heroes live action trailer. Most of those who like Lyn x Eliwood pick the route in which Roy decides to fight for the land of Sacae, the homeland of Lyn.

There is strong friction with Elnini and Elfiora shippers, as well as fans who prefer Lyn's endings where she returns to Sacae rather than remaining in Lycia. Elnini shippers argue that their preferred pairing is the real canon despite there being no consequences if Eliwood marries someone else and Ninian goes home with her brother, while "Lyn returns to the plains" fans believe Lyn would be completely miserable in Pherae even though she appears perfectly happy in her ending cutscene if she's married to Eliwood. However despit an initial rivalry with Elilyn the two tend to be shipped by the same people in recent years; even the Elilyn/ Elfiora shippers who aren't multishippers tend to defend the other ship[1][2].

Elilyn also finds strong competition with those who ship Lyn with Hector, Florina, Rath or Kent, the first two very popular ships.

Elilyn is a common ship mate to Hecflor, due to both pairings being comprised of two pairs of longtime best friends, and can possibly be a four-way poly ship due to the perceived subtext between Elihec and Florilyn.
