The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?
—Eli to Aesop

EliSop is the slash ship between Eli Clark and Aesop Carl from the Identity V fandom.

Canon[]

Main Game[]

In the main canon of the game, Aesop and Eli never meet, as both are participants in separate games. However, both were released back to back upon their launches in 2018, and were shown together in multiple promotional videos. The two characters can also be seen in multiple official artworks together, as well as essences and event story lines (ie. Sinful Phoenix, Truth and Inference, etc.)

Stageplay[]

Throughout the run of the identity v stageplay, Eli and Aesops relationship can be interpreted as explicitly romantic. In What to Draw (episode one), Aesop is seen as the main protagonist alongside Joseph as the main antagonist, and Eli is a supporting character. In the episode, Aesop becomes ostracized by the other survivors due to his ideologies surrounding death and his obsession with understanding it. However, Eli is one of the only characters who does not shame or hate Aesop for this aspect of himself, and rather sees him as intriguing, Within the middle half of the episode, Eli knocks at Aesops door, wishing to speak with him. It is at this point in the story that the two’s bond grows, with Aesop even blushing at the idea of Eli living with him one day and helping him. In the episodes end, Eli decides to sacrifice his own life to try and save Aesop from Joseph. Although he lies at first saying it is because he only sees Aesop “as a friend”, Norton deduces there is a deeper reasoning to Eli’s goal, and decides not to argue with him. In the end Joseph lets both Eli and Aesop go, in which the episode ends with them escaping the manor together while holding onto one another, before reuniting with Norton and Helena.

In Cry for the moon (episode three), Eli is seen as the main protagonist alongside Mary as the main antagonist, and Aesop is a supporting character. In the start of the episode, Eli is seen alone singing a lullaby before meeting up with Lucky and Aesop. When asking why Aesop decided to come outside, Aesop reveals he is nervous of the new survivors arrivals, and wanted to seek Eli out instead. The two engage in a brief conversation, in which Eli asks to see Aesops smile, before being rushed by Lucky to meet the other new survivors. Later in the episode when both Eli and Mary are transported to an alternate “bubble world”, Eli meets Aesops counter part in this universe (Music Master). Throughout the middle half of the episode, Music Master proclaims multiple times that he feels a sense of nostalgia around Eli, and is intrigued by him. Later on, Eli learns that if he does not escape the world with Mary, they will fade from existence. He tries to get Mary to listen but she refuses to leave her fantasy world, and so Eli decides to give up. Paralleling episode one, it is Music Master/Aesop who asks Eli not to give up so easily, and that he is sure that the real Aesop is waiting for Eli to return home. After this conversation, Eli gets the strength he needed to confront Mary again, and both successfully return to their own world.

Truth and Inference[]

In the Truth and Inference universe, Gatto (Aesop), and Noir/White (Eli)’s reactions are brief and one sided. Noir is tasked with stalking Gatto and stealing his creation of eternal beauty, a drug he developed under the Ulliel/Uriel Family. After a chemical explosion, Gatto is rendered unconscious, giving Noir the perfect opportunity to steal the drug. After taking a sample vial and sending off his bird Leon, Noirs partners suggest killing Gatto, as it would put the Melodis family at an advantage. Despite this, Noir silences the both of them immediately, telling the two to “refrain from any unnecessary action” under his command, before looking down to Gatto’s body. It is later implied within the manga that it was Noir who carried Gatto to the safety of his crystal coffin, which he later wakes up in after almost being electrocuted by Paranormal Detective.

Fanon[]

In fanon, Elisop is seen as one of the more popular Eli and Aesop ships, despite its popular declining in recent years. However, that does not mean there is a lack of fan content, as there are many different Elisop artists, fanfic writers, etc. Most popular interpretations of the ship derive from the stageplay, as it is considered to be one of the catalysts for the ship’s popularity. Often times people explore the dynamics of how the two’s relationship would work, whether it be in the manor setting or other alternate universes.

On AO3, there are over 900 fics in the Elisop tag, as well as over 1000+ posts on instagram, and over 1000+ posts on Pixiv.
