- Anyway, I'm not going to abandon you! And before you ask me why, it's because you are my Destined Soulmate, Yvonne!
- —Elsa in Manhua Vol. 1, Ch. 3
Elvonne is the femslash ship between Elsa Dorothy and Yvonne Smollett from the Please Bully Me, Miss Villainess! fandom.
Canon[]
Their story begins with Yvonne, who has been isekai’d into an otome game as the main villainess character, trying to find the heroine, Elsa. Yvonne finds her on the roof just in time to prevent her from jumping off a roof, then expels the demon who was possessing Elsa from the latter’s body. Because she has saved the heroine, however, Yvonne gets punished by the “Villainess System” for this, with her entire family and herself getting disgraced and exiled.
It is then revealed that before this incident, Yvonne has been “bullying” Elsa for a while, at the coercement of this “Villainess System.” Not actually wanting to be cruel to Elsa, Yvonne has been picking the least severe “bullying” option, finding loopholes to the options, and softening the blow of each action to Elsa. To get away from this vile system, Yvonne tries to distance herself from Elsa, but Elsa has come to enjoy this “bullying” and follows Yvonne to her new school, even after Yvonne has been exiled. To Yvonne’s horror, Elsa has declared Yvonne to be her “destined soulmate.”
Elsa starts to get bullied by others at the school, and so to protect her, Yvonne offers to let Elsa live with her. They start spending more time together at school, even having lunch together daily. At first, Yvonne is still adamant to get Elsa to connect with one of the game’s many love interests so that the “Villainess System” will finally leave her alone. But, as the two gradually grow closer, Yvonne realizes that she enjoys Elsa’s company and doesn’t want to be alone anymore - even getting jealous at the thought of Elsa with someone else.
One day, a mysterious witch appears and hacks the “Villainess System” and changes its options right as it appears before Yvonne. Not long after, Elsa receives a letter about her former caretaker (a nun) being in trouble, which Yvonne internally notes in alarm never happened in the game. They take Yvonne’s dragon to fly out to the orphanage where Elsa grew up in. There, Yvonne discovers more things that have changed from the original game (the nun is actually secretly a demon and the demon lord is now a small girl instead of a grown man). Yvonne also notes how the “Villainess System” hasn’t appeared again since it was hacked last time. She begins to grow hopeful that this means that she can stay by Elsa’s side.
While at the village to buy supplies for the orphanage, Elsa buys a love potion that Yvonne accidentally opens later. Once Yvonne mostly recovers from the potion’s effects, she angrily tracks down the original potion-maker, who turns out to be none other than the witch from before. The witch goads Yvonne to admit that she’s in love with Elsa, gives Yvonne the antidote, then leaves right when Elsa appears to find Yvonne. Seeing Elsa’s concern, Yvonne finally admits to herself that she does indeed have feelings for Elsa.
They go to the festival together as a date, but Yvonne is distracted trying to find the witch from earlier. After Elsa gets upset at her for this, Yvonne discreetly asks the orphanage’s kids to help her pick a bundle of flowers for her to give Elsa later. Afterwards, Elsa makes Yvonne promise to stick by her side from then on until nighttime. When the flowers are finally given to Elsa, Elsa assumes that Yvonne doesn’t realize the significance of such an act, but Yvonne does - giving flowers the night of the festival symbolizes a desire to be partners for life.
Right before a magic show, however, Yvonne spots the witch and chases after her. The witch makes Yvonne drink a cup of tea, then reveals that the antidote she gave Yvonne before actually wasn’t an antidote, but a stabilizing agent for demonic blood (from the love potion). In fact, the witch knows that they’re in an otome game and has done all this to turn Yvonne into a demon temporarily in order to “exploit a bug” in the game (by making the villainess get an HP bar). She then reveals that there was a sleeping agent in the tea and leaves right as Yvonne falls unconscious, which the witch says is punishment for abandoning Elsa halfway through their date.
When Yvonne wakes up, it’s the middle of the night already. She rushes back to where the show was, only to find that it has ended and that only Elsa remains, sitting alone with the flowers she’d given her. In her distress, Elsa confesses that she truly is in love with Yvonne and can’t keep waiting anymore. She asks if Yvonne can accept her feelings despite them both being girls, and then before she can backtrack her words, Yvonne admits she has feelings for Elsa, too. They share their first kiss, with Yvonne declaring internally that she’ll create a new route just for them - a route where the villainess and the heroine can be together.
Meanwhile, however, the witch’s power has begun to wane, and the “Villainess System” begins to restore itself. Yvonne decides to leave to find the witch and to temporarily get away from Elsa so that the “Villainess System” can’t hurt her, but before she can, monsters attack. Yvonne heads out into the forest to find one of the orphanage’s children, while Elsa stays back to protect the village. Out in the forest, the situation turns dire, however. Right before Yvonne gets struck by a beast, the witch appears to save her. The witch then freezes time and sends Yvonne back in time. As Yvonne leaves, the witch reveals herself to actually be Elsa from a future alternate timeline, where Yvonne has died.
Thus, it is revealed, in actuality, that Yvonne and Elsa first met when they were seven years old, but only while Yvonne from the future was in her seven-year-old self’s body. As a young child with her future self’s consciousness, Yvonne finds where a child Elsa lives and saves her life. Yvonne has to withhold her real name from Elsa, though, to prevent breaking the time loop and potentially changing the future.
Under Yvonne’s care, Elsa falls in love with Yvonne. After discovering that Yvonne’s mother is dying from a curse inside her body and that Yvonne would be the curse’s next host, Elsa convinces Yvonne’s maid to help transfer the curse to herself (Elsa) instead. Because of the curse’s power (which may be unstable), however, Elsa has to distance herself from Yvonne. Yvonne promises that they’ll meet again one day and tells Elsa to work hard, even when she’s not around anymore. She tells Elsa that in the future, if she can make Yvonne remember this promise, then they’ll be even closer than they are now. (When Yvonne returns to the future, her past self won’t remember any of what had happened.) After berating Yvonne for “bullying” her by saying that she’ll forget the promise in the future, Elsa kisses her to seal the promise.
Yvonne returns to the present after Elsa leaves, where she discovers that the witch had been taking care of her adult self with her child self’s consciousness for the past 2 months while Yvonne was in the past. With the witch’s help, Yvonne is able to bring the current Elsa into the time frozen space (which Yvonne does so with a kiss and a declaration that she has remembered their promise now). Together, they set off to put an end to the calamity.
While fighting the cause of the calamity, both Yvonne and Elsa attempt to take the brunt of the curse's powers for themselves. Yvonne has learned from their shared past, however, and doesn't let Elsa trick her into letting her take all of the curse onto herself this time. In the end, the crisis is resolved and Yvonne wakes up much later to find her wounds tended to, with a worried Elsa watching over her. Yvonne becomes more assertive in their relationship, which throws Elsa off at first, but Elsa enjoys it all the same.

Fanon[]
Elvonne is the main ship of Please Bully Me, Miss Villainess! as they are the main couple that the story is about (and thus the ship that fans root for the most). They (and the series) are especially popular for being wholesome throughout, with constant playful teasing and suspenseful moments that never get too serious.
The couple and their story uses a lot of popular tropes in romance, which the fans really like. Fans especially like how the two have contrasting personalities, with Elsa being friendly and bubbly and Yvonne being initially very cold and hostile (although this is very early on revealed to be a front in Yvonne’s attempts to push Elsa away from her and the “Villainess System”).
They are very popular in the Girls’ Love (GL) scene in China. In 2022, the series won a Bilibili contest to receive a 30 seconds animated PV, which would also be displayed in Times Square NYC and Shibuya Tokyo.[1] In late August 2023, the PV was finally released and can be watched on Bilibili here.[2] After the manhua was created, they gained a lot of fans overseas, with the series currently being the most highly rated and second most followed GL manhua on MangaDex.[3][4]
The author is currently part of the fandom’s Discord and interacts with fans regularly.[5]
