Aponia and Elysia first met in the MOTHs base, when Aponia was considered a criminal and was preparing to be tried for gathering Honkai-infected children at Sundown Alley. While Sakura was showing her around the base, Elysia greeted her lively, calling her a cute girl. Sakura tells her not to treat Aponia like a normal guest, but Elysia refutes that Aponia is simply a normal girl caught up in some misunderstandings, and she wants to get to know her. Elysia takes her hands as a "handshake of goodwill" and assures Aponia that she can tell her anything. Aponia is surprised that Elysia isn't afraid of her, calling herself a sinner soon to receive judgement. Elysia replies that to her, she is just a normal girl overwhelmed by sadness. Aponia still blames herself, saying that none of this would have happened if she hadn't taken all of those children in. Elysia says that even if she didn't, Honkai would've ravaged elsewhere; Aponia was simply doing what she thought was right. At Aponia's protests, Elysia tells her not to imprison herself in the past, and encourages her to smile.[1]
Aponia was one of the four people to attend her final banquet and be given a crystal flower. Like the other attendees, Aponia was already aware of Elysia's identity as a Herrscher. She had known since the beginning because of her psychic abilities, though didn't tell anyone. At the banquet, she and Elysia had fun playing "girl games" together. When it was time for Elysia to depart from the world, Aponia and everyone else assured her that she indeed became human, and they do not see her as a Herrscher.[2]
Elysian Realm[]
As usual, Elysia's sim is the one to guides Mei and gives info on the other Flame-Chasers. Mei tells her about Aponia's prophecy that she'll die in ten days. Elysia reacts gravely to this, and tells Mei that Aponia's prophecies always come true, no matter how much Aponia has tried to change it. She states that she will ask Aponia about it later.[3]
After Mei and Aponia's confrontation, Mei states that though she can't change her fate, she can change the way she arrives to that fate. Aponia recalls when a certain someone said the same thing to her. She states she was never able to read her fate, so she assumed things would be different, but that person died in the end. Mei questions what Aponia does in the Realm, and she replies that she uses her blessing to remember that person's life entirely. Aponia says Mei is ready to meet this person, the 13th Herrscher, and opens the door to Elysium Everlasting, where Elysia is waiting.

Elyponia is a popular ship for both Elysia and Aponia, but is frequently overshadowed by their more popular ships, such as Elyeden, Elymei and ApoEden. Although, it is often shipped along with Elyeden, as the poly ship Elyedenponia, since Aponia and Eden are two of Elysia's closest and most trusted friends, and many people like the dynamic between Aponia and Eden. Elyponia first gained traction in the Aponia Counseling Room web event, which included a CG with Elysia close to Aponia, grabbing her hands. Because of the overall way Aponia is shown to feel about about Elysia and how she speaks about her, many believe that Aponia was deeply in love and yearning for Elysia.
The first concept for Aponia's summer outfit was of her wearing a t-shirt with Elysia on it.[5]
Both of their names are of Greek origin. The meanings of their names are somewhat similar, both pertaining to peacefulness and serenity. Aponia means "absence of pain" and Elysia means "paradise."
Taking this comparison further, both words describe desired end states in life; In the philosophy of Epicureanism, happiness is the ultimate goal, which is achieved through aponia. Meanwhile, the Elysian Fields are, simply put, the equivalent to Heaven in Greek mythology.
