Emerald Trio is the friendship between Willow Park, Gus Porter and Hunter from the The Owl House fandom.

For a long time Hunter had been kept away from young witches who are close to his age and didn't how to be one himself. This has him going in blind when he sneaked into Hexside to gather new recruits. At the same time Willow and Gus were trying to start up their own flyer derby team. Once Willow saw the way Hunter flew on his staff, she dragged him down to her and Gus so they could ask him to join their team. Seeing it as the best way to find those recruits he agrees to hear them out, while using the name "Caleb" to hide his true identity. As Gus was unsure of him from either he or Willow have never seen Caleb at their school before, while Willow was exited to have someone of his talent in their team. This got Gus to ask "Caleb" to not hurt Willow, who has had a tough year and wants this flyer derby team she's forming to work out. Shortly after seeing the trouble Gus was having with his staff and wasn't impressed with the other teammates, however, Hunter wanted out and to have nothing to do with those who have no use to his uncle's coven. Willow asks their new friend to give them a chance but "Caleb" wasn't having any of it, until she got him to stick around long enough to see Gus master his way of flying and the other good qualities of their teammates. Hunter enjoyed playing flyer derby with Willow, Gus and the others and comes up with their team name.
After "Caleb" revealed himself to be the Golden Guard and got scout grunts to bring the new recruits in, Willow and Gus felt betrayed. They had trusted him and he didn't seem to care that they were in cage, while Hunter talks about them "joining" the Emperor's Coven. Hunter tried to seek support from Willow, but she was too upset with getting herself and her friends in their current situation. Even Gus was angry at Hunter, who was starting to regret his actions after hearing Willow call herself "half-a-witch" and remembering the gate that awaits their palismen. Realising that he has made a huge mistake and getting his cloak back wasn't worth harming those who saw him as a friend, Hunter raced to their rescue and protected them from Darius. Seeing this got Willow to see that there was good in Hunter, while Gus still wasn't sure about him. Thanks to Darius giving Hunter a scroll he was able to stay in touch with them.
With Hunter being unable to return back to the Emperor's Coven from what he saw, Hunter found himself moving an abandoned room at Hexside. Where he stayed hidden until he was found by Gus. Who was feeling felt out from the number of times Willow was hanging out with Amity, and due to their last encounter with the Golden Guard Gus assumed that Hunter had something to do with Luz's absence. Only to learn that Hunter was surprised that the human girl was missing. Realising that Hunter was telling the truth, he gave him his lunch before leaving to find Willow. After Adrien revealed his true intentions and was about to brand Gus for interfering in their plans, Willow gets lost in Gus's illusion spell with Amity, while Hunter spirits Gus away to safety.
During their run from Adrien, while Willow is trying to find her way out of her friend's illusion, Gus learns about Hunter's situation and helps him through it by teaching him a breathing trick Willow had taught him when they first met. Despite Hunter's brief time with Willow and Gus in "Any Sport in a Storm," he knew that the Willow he and Gus encounter was an imposter. Even though Gus has known Willow when she was timid, Hunter had got to know the new brave Willow and gets Gus to see through the trap. Gus sharing the calming down trick with Hunter helped him later on after Gus's capture, as Willow hearing Hunter mention it got her to reassure everyone that Hunter can be trusted. The two then team up with the rest of the school to save their friend. After Gus was saved, he and Willow pull Hunter into a group hug, as they couldn't have saved Gus without him and has proven himself to be a good friend to the both of them. Hunter continued to aid Gus and Willow, after he tells everyone at Hexside the truth of the Day of Unity.
This has the three become Luz's escorts when she needed help to save Amity. Becoming closer to Willow and Gus during the lead up to "Clouds on the Horizon" got Hunter to fear that revealing himself as a Grimwalker would cost him their friendship. Which is why he asks Luz to keep that part of him a secret from the others. When they were captured by Amity's mother Willow was last in the dark of Luz's plan to protect Hunter, by having Gus cast an illusion spell for them to switch places. While Willow was trying to save "Hunter" from being taken back to Belos. She only becomes aware of this after "Luz" was revealed to be Hunter and Gus told them his role in it.
During their battle with Belos Gus looked into his mind and got a glimpse of what Hunter really is, but choose to not say anything about it. While both Hunter and Willow were left in the dark of his discovery. With the Collector freed and creating chaos for the Owl House game, the trio were forced to escape into the human realm with Luz and Amity. Even though it resulted in them being trapped there once the portal door was destroyed, Luz got her mum to house them until they can find their way back to the demon realm. Gus and Hunter being boys had them sharing a room, while Willow stayed with the rest of the girls. Willow continues to show Hunter kindness, while Gus found a book that has a clone character in it and shared it with Hunter. Like he was secretly helping his friend to come to terms with being a Grimwalker and how it doesn't bother his friend.

The Emerald Trio soared soon after Willow and Gus excepted Hunter as a friend in "Labyrinth Runners," that has the two Hexside student being the former Golden Guard into a hug. The support on this Owl House continued to grow each time new moments between the three were featured in the last half of season two and throughout season three. Fans like the way that Willow and Gus are helping Hunter to be a kid than a soldier, since he had started off as an enemy to Luz and Amity before they became friends was well, while Gus and Willow excepted him a lot faster than the two girls have.
After a possessed Hunter told Belos what he would like to do with those who have become his friends, has inspired fans to draw Hunter doing those things with Willow and Gus. Who are his flyer derby teammates and are students at Hexside. Like with Luz, people see the two helping Hunter to adjust to school life and being around people his how age. The number of times and fan art that has been made of the three young witches, however, it got some people to feel that Hunter was taking Luz's place in the trio group she became apart of with Gus and Willow.
