EnRudo is the friendship ship between Enjin and Rudo Surebrec from the Gachiakuta fandom.
Canon[]
The Man with the Umbrella[]
While scouting No Man’s Land through his binoculars, Enjin spots Rudo fighting off trash beasts alone and is visibly shocked by how hard he’s trying to take them down. After Rudo manages to defeat one of the creatures, debris nearly collapses onto him, leaving him vulnerable. Enjin steps in, using his vital instrument to shield Rudo. Rudo, confused, mutters, “What’s with this guy?”. Enjin notices Rudo choking on blood and swiftly kicks him, not to hurt him, but to force him to spit it out. Rudo, stunned and angry, wonders what the hell he’s doing, only for Enjin to immediately place a protective mask on him, shielding him from the toxic air. Realizing he just saved his life, Rudo starts firing off questions about the area and the trash beasts, but Enjin sharply tells him to quiet down, aware that more trash beasts could return. When Rudo assumes he lives underground, Enjin snaps, correcting him that they live above ground, and the trash is dumped by the Sphereites.

After Enjin wipes out a swarm of trash beasts in a single, devastating blow, Rudo watches in awe. Enjin sees Rudo and is visibly relieved that Rudo is still alive. When Rudo finally asks who he is, Enjin removes his mask, introduces himself and then immediately blames Rudo for making him take the mask off in the first place.

Rudo is awake to find he is being dragged in chains by Enjin
Later, Enjin is seen dragging a sleeping Rudo through the trash covered ground, chained up and half-conscious. When Rudo stirs, Enjin casually asks if he’s awake. Rudo immediately snaps, calling him “that turdface from earlier”. Annoyed, Enjin reminds him of his actual name and questions if that’s really how someone talks to the guy who just saved his life. Rudo, still groggy and irritated, demands to know why he’s chained and being dragged around. Enjin casually explains that Rudo passed out and that this is just his “gentlemanly” way of transporting him. Rudo insists on going back to the Sphere and getting the chains removed, but Enjin tells him that returning isn’t possible yet. While Enjin tries to get him to relax, Rudo refuses, growing angrier and demanding answers about the trash beasts, the powers he used, and the truth about the ground they’re walking on.
Finally fed up, Enjin snaps, saying that if Rudo wants answers so badly, he’ll give him a lesson on what it’s like to live on the ground. Enjin abandoned Rudo in a strange part of the wasteland and leaving him to handle something.In truth, he left Rudo there deliberately to see if he would awaken as a Giver. Rudo is still angry he is leaving him alone without telling him anything and left to fend for himself. Eventually, when attacked by people trying to sell him, Rudo awakens his abilities as a Giver and fights back.

Watching from afar through his binoculars, Enjin smiles about being right about Rudo’s potential. He becomes even more excited upon seeing that Rudo can use more than one item at once. Enjin finally steps in, grabbing Rudo’s arm mid-fight to tell him that’s enough, that he doesn’t need to take it any further. He then apologizes and says he’ll give Rudo answers if he agrees to join the Cleaners, insisting that they need someone with his talent. Rudo, without hesitation, bluntly rejects the offer.

While Rudo was getting bandaged up by a doctor, Enjin ended a call with Zanka clearly talking about Rudo. Rudo told Enjin once again that he had no interest in joining the Cleaners. He quietly thanked him for covering the cost of the doctor, but made it clear: he just wanted information and didn’t have time for whatever the Cleaners were about. Enjin paused, then explained how Rudo had been kidnapped and forced to see the reality of how Sphereites were treated down on the Ground.

As Rudo ate, Enjin watched him and talk about how Rudo must’ve been starving especially after all the trash the sellers made him eat. Lighting a cigarette, Enjin asked for his name. When Rudo answered, Enjin said, “That’s a good name.” Rudo quietly agreed. Enjin went on to explain more about the world, anima, vital instruments, and what it truly meant to be a Giver. He pointed to the gloves Rudo always wore, noting that they weren’t just old and worn they had soul and too always take care of them. Rudo looked visibly grateful. It was probably the first time anyone outside the Sphere had complimented the gloves Regto had given him, rather than calling them dirty or useless. Rudo gave a quiet thanks for everything. Enjin smiled and tossed him a small money bag, casually mentioning he got the cash by selling Rudo’s own clothes. Rudo’s jaw dropped, clearly furious but Enjin unfazed, turned and walks off leaving Rudo by himself.

Fanon[]
Enjin and Rudo’s friendship is one of the most well known bonds in the fandom and commonly shipped as a Brotp. This is largely due to Enjin being the first major character Rudo interacts with after falling to the Ground, and one of the few adult figures in his life. They are often seen as a duo in fanart. Sometimes they are paired alongside ZanRiyo in Team Akuta group art. Fans also like to compare and parallel Enjin and Rudo’s friendship to other mentor and student or found family duos from shounen, such as DadMight, GoFushi, and GoYuu.

On AO3, EnRudo currently has about 66 works. It mainly rivals the friendships of FuJin, ZanJin, and ZanRu.
Fanon Interpretation[]
In fan interpretations, Enjin is often seen as an older brother figure, fun uncle, even a father figure rather than as a mentor for Rudo. Many fans feel that their friendship develops organically and reflects the story’s deeper themes of found family. Fans also would love to see Enjin and Rudo have a happy ending by the end of the series where both survive. Many hope Enjin won't die for Rudo's sake.
Enjin asks Rudo to join the Cleaners
It is often very much controversial and frowned upon to ship Rudo and Enjin romantically in the fandom as Enjin is the closest person Rudo has to a family figure, especially after the death of Regto. Enjin is also an adult in his late 20s, while Rudo is still a minor which makes romantic interpretations uncomfortable for many fans.

- Some fans believe Enjin’s first meeting with Rudo is a reference to Bleach, specifically to the scene where Urahara stands over Ichigo, who is lying on the ground.[1]
- Enjin and Rudo appear together on the back cover of Volume 1’s Momie variant.[2]
- They also appear on magazine covers together.
- Enjin is the first person outside the Sphere to call Rudo’s 3R “nice”.
- Enjin and Rudo will sometimes give each other nicknames most of which are insulting but affectionate. Enjin sometimes refers to Rudo as “kid,” “boy,” and “stupid brat,” while Rudo fires back with names like “turdface” and “slimeball”.
- Enjin and Rudo both have scars. Enjin bears a scar on the left side of his head, while Rudo has visible scars along his hands.
- Enjin is significantly older than Rudo, being 28 years old compared to Rudo’s 15.
- Enjin stands at 6’3”, while Rudo is 5’4”.
