EnZan is the slash ship between Muzan Kibutsuji and Enmu from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Enmu was one of the demons serving under Muzan, the first of his kind as well as the Demon King. They first met when Enmu was a human and Muzan consumed his guts. Originally, Muzan intended to devour him whole but Enmu expressed envy and praised Muzan while he was being eaten, causing Muzan to turn him into a demon shortly after his heart and brain ceased functioning. Either because he enjoyed being hurt or due to a specific admiration for Muzan, Enmu did his best to ascend the ranks of Muzan's subordinates so he could remain significant to Muzan.
Enmu succeeded and ascended in rank, landing a position in the Lower Moons of the Twelve Kizuki. Muzan and Enmu met once again during the final Lower Moons meeting in Episode 26. There, Muzan (in his female form) killed all of the Lower Moons except Enmu, Lower Moon 1.
After Muzan killed Rokuro, Lower Moon 2, he asked Enmu for his last words. Unlike the other Lower Moons, Enmu didn’t express terror or desperation to be spared. He instead expressed blushing delight at being killed by Muzan, saying it was the greatest honor he could have as a demon. Enmu praised Muzan and thanked him for letting him become a demon and be left as the last one to die. Once again, Muzan intended to kill Enmu but changed his mind in response to Enmu's unwavering devotion. Instead of killing him, Muzan gave him a generous amount of his blood through his neck, and instructed him to kill the Hashira and the "demon hunter with the hanafuda card earrings" (Tanjiro Kamado) in order to receive even more of his blood. With the new incentive in place, Enmu accepted the assignment with excitement.
At the end of the Mugen Train Arc (The Demon Slayer movie), as Enmu was dying, he lamented that he wanted to get more of Muzan’s blood to have a blood duel with an Upper Moon to take their place. He goes on to complain that the Lower Rank demons never get any higher, and that despite getting so much of Muzan's blood, he wasn't able to defeat anyone. Enmu ends off wailing about how it was such a miserable nightmare, before fading into dust.
Fanon[]
Enmu's passionate praise about Muzan led many fans to think that Enmu is extremely devoted to the demons and worships him with something close to infatuation. He likely wanted to be an Upper Moon to be closer to Muzan, or to not be seen as weak and worthless in Muzan’s eyes.
Stories on AO3 consist of modern-day parallel world AU of Enmu and Muzan, or the two when Enmu first became a demon. There are many theories about the two, as Enmu's backstory is not widely known. It was only elaborated on in Mugen Train and in the second fanbook, the latter of which lacks an official English translation.
Because Enmu only made his appearance for a short amount of time in the anime and the manga before dying, EnZan is a relatively new and unpopular ship in the Demon Slayer fandom. Some people dislike their dynamic and how their relationship might be toxic, but there are also a good amount of fans that love the ship.
Many people think that Enmu has a crush on Muzan, considering how he acts around him. Some fans like to make stories where Enmu is obsessed with Muzan and has unrequited love towards him.
