EnaAn is the femslash ship between Ena Shinonome and An Shiraishi from the Project SEKAI fandom.

Canon[]

Both Ena and An attend Kamiyama High School, and are apart of musicial groups. An is apart of Vivid BAD SQUAD, while Ena is apart of 25-ji, Nightcord de. The pairing also share a similar talent regarding making meals, with one of Ena's talent being choosing the right ingredients, and An's having the ability to brew coffee or mint tea.

What lies behind, What lies ahead[]

In Episode 2, An and Ena's first proper meeting occurs when Ena is leaving the diner with Nightcord, their groups happening to see each other on the street. After An introduces herself most of Nightcord, Akito makes note of the fact Ena is with them as well. An questions Akito if Ena is her sister, Akito replies with "yeah, unfortunately." Ena argues with Akito, calling herself the oldest and asking if he had forgotten about the fact that she's the older one. An expresses that she's happy that she was able to meet Ena in person, due to the fact that Ena takes night classes.

An explains that Akito often tells stories about Ena to An, and she had been waiting for a chance to actually talk to Ena. Ena, appears rather overwhelmed, to which Mizuki lightly teases her for it. Ena quickly tells Mizuki to shut up, now embarrassed. Realizing that Nightcord was at the diner for a special reason, An apologizes for interrupting the group abruptly. However, Ena reassures her, telling An that they were planning on going home anyways.

Ena then asks An how Mizuki is like at school before they depart their ways. Mizuki, now embarrassed, asks what has "gotton into her all of a sudden", and Ena simply claims its an act of payback. After An tells Ena about how Mizuki is like at school, Mafuyu ends up ending off the conversation by stating she has curfew. Kanade then says that she has to work on a new demo, and Akito agrees with everyone that it's time to go. Ena then thanks An, before leaving with Nightcord.

Chapter 3[]

After deciding to head over to the aquarium located in the mall, An and Shiho end up meeting Ena. It is Ena who actually notices the duo first. Ena then appears in front of Shiho and An with a smile on her face. An happily calls out for Ena, with Ena asking if An had also come to the aquarium. She also asks if Shiho is An's friend, to which An states that they ran into each other while Shiho was out shopping.

Chapter 4[]

When Shiho and Ena properly introduce themselves to one another, Ena asks if An and Shiho like the aquarium so far or "stuff like that". An simply replies that she was curious about the goldfish exhibit, with Shiho adding on that it's not very common to see a flower viewing area mixed with a goldfish exhibit together. Ena agrees with the duo, saying that "you don't get a lot of opportunities to see goldfish outside of festivals." An asks if Ena is a fan of goldfish, and aquariums, with Ena responding that she had came to the aquarium because she wanted to do an art study on fish.

Ena explains that she mostly draws when she has enough free time, and would like to improve on her art. Hence why she's trying to draw goldfish. An remarks that attempting to illustrate a moving object must be difficult, additionally, Ena says that expressing flowing water traditionally can be a hassle as well. However, despite the fact that water ripples and air bubbles rising to the surface is hard to draw, she states that she wants to express it in her art still. An and Shiho both admire Ena for her hard work, with An saying she doesn't know how Ena manages to draw water in the first place. Ena says that she thought the sakura flowers from the exhibit were attention grabbing, and An insists that because of the cuteness of the goldfish, that Ena could make a "really stylist drawing" out of her art study.

With a spark of motivation filling up Ena, she now states that she has to start the sketch of her new illustration. Shiho then says that An and her should look around the aquarium, An telling Ena to do her best, Ena telling the duo to have fun before parting ways with them. Once by herself, Ena begins to brainstorm which fish she should study from the exhibit before settling on the pair of fish An and Shiho were talking about prior. She claims that when she looks at the two fishes, her heart is "warming up", and that it's like someone you could spend your days in tranquility with.

As time passes, Shiho and An both notice Ena seemingly focused on her hard work. An complimenting how much of a hard worker Ena is, however, Shiho internally believes that she looked "pained" rather than focused.

Chapter 5[]

Ena is finished with her illustration, however instead of liking the end result, she critiques herself for several of aspects she believes she was lacking in. Despite it all, she feels as if she was able to draw the movement of the water well, and thinks she improved from how she drew before. An and Shiho meet up with Ena again, with An praising Ena for her good work. Ena asks the duo how their experience was at the exhibit, with An complimenting the fishes, claiming all of them were "so pretty". Ena replies that she's glad to hear An's time at the aquarium was a good one, and that she had just finished the art study.

After being complimented by Shiho for being focused on her sketch, Ena implies that she didn't feel as if she improved a grand amount. Claiming that she was "able to draw as well as she's capable of right now", An asking if they could see the drawing in response to her statement. When Ena shows the drawing to both of them, An calls the drawing amazing, and notices that Ena chose the fish that were "sticking together". These fishes happen to be the same ones An and Shiho were observing earlier. When Shiho eulogizes Ena for being able to recreate the pleasant feelings she had felt when seeing the fish for the first time, An agrees with her, saying that the fishes "feel really kind" and that they feel like they're happy with each other's presence.

Ena, delighted by the praise, thanks the pair for their compliments. However, in her thoughts, she still thinks that the art isn't good enough to her own standards, and is "still lacking" somehow. In contrast though, she's happy that she was able to express the right emotion towards the audience, and was able to provoke the same reaction Shiho and An had towards the fish at first once again. But, she says that she has to keep doing her best, which causes An to be confused. An states that she thinks An is already working hard enough, and that she doesn't think she needs to push herself past her limit. She also notes that she thinks Akito is quite similar to Ena, both of them happen to be diligent in their passion at core.

Shiho is surprised by the mention of Akito, with An explaining that Ena is actually Akito's big sister. However, Ena says that she doesn't know if she's that similar to Akito that An could make the comparison between the siblings. Going more in depth about how shes the art director for her group, and has to draw a visual that fits the "general vibe" of the song they're making before editing it all together into a video, before uploading it, An is shocked by how Ena is able to handle that job. She says that it sounds hard, but thinks that it's amazing that Ena takes on that role in her group.

However, Ena undermines herself, saying that she doesn't believe it's "that impressive" because she feels like she hasn't been able to match up her art to fit the music they're currently producing. Ena expresses that she wants to provide a worldwide view on their music, and through her art, she wants to properly showcase the atmosphere they want to portray. She urges that this is the main reason behind wanting to improve so much. Both Shiho and An eventually understand what she's trying to say, and An even says aloud that she understand what she means.

After leaving the aquarium, now inside of the mall once again, Ena says that she's going to go shopping before heading back home. She thanks both An and Shiho for hearing out about her concerns, and as well as true desires for her art, yet, says its embarrassing that she shared that much to them in the first place. An reassures that it's perfectly alright, and that she ended up figuring out her own emotions a little bit throughout Ena's statements.

Before Ena leaves the duo alone, she tells them to be careful on their way home. And she waves to them as they depart ways.

Area Conversations[]

Conversation 1[]

An stops Ena on her way, asking if she's heading to class, to which Ena responds that she is. Yet, she asks An why she's at Kamiyama, considering it's pretty late out. Ena asks if An is attending a club, or another after-school program, An responds that she has a hall monitor meeting and that they were trying to clean out an unused prep room. Surprised by this, Ena says that being a hall monitor sounds pretty tough.

However, An says that because she's not doing it alone, that "many hands make light work". About to leave to run off to the rest of the team, Ena stops An for a moment to brush off the dust on her back. An thanks Ena for her assistance, and wishes that Ena was her big sister. The conversation ends off with Ena slightly embarrassed by the compliment.

Fanon[]

Many people in the fandom are unaware of the ships existence, and also of Ena and An even interacting, which causes the pairing to end up as a rarepair. The pairing had a spike of popularity around November 2023, yet the popularity would unfortunately dry out as time proceeded. However, many people have found themselves inclined to ship the pairing due to the fact that An practically admires Ena throughout both events. A common joke amongst EnaAn shippers is that there would be tension between Akito and An, because of the fact that An would be dating Akito's older sister, Ena.

The ship is rivaled by more popular pairings like Mizuena, or Anhane because most people don't ship cross-unit pairings. Yet, despite it all, there is a small fanbase of people who have stayed with the pairing, and like it very much.

EnaAn has 20 works dedicated to the romantic version of the pairing on AO3, with 33 works dedicated to the platonic tag of the ship.
