Englaire is the het ship between Engel and Claire from the Fundamental Paper Education fandom.
Canon[]
Engel and Claire seem to have a friendship in the basics of behavior music video, as the two are often together.
It is theorized that Claire might have a crush on Engel because of her blushing while she talks to him in the library. Whether the crush is one-sided or not is unknown. Engel does appear to be blushing at her as well, but as seen in the character sheets, the blue blush is just a part of his design. We can still make a theory if maybe his care towards her was an act of love. However, nobody can assume much until future episodes of Fundamental Paper Education come out.
Basics in Behavior[]
In Basics, Engel gets annoyed when he finds out that Oliver, Zip and Edward were throwing papers at Claire. In the pool scene, Engel waves at the camera. Whether he was waving his hand at Claire or just breaking the fourth wall is unknown, but the most reasonable answer is that he was waving it at Claire. Claire makes an amused face when Engel introduces her to the library. When Claire is talking to Engel while blushing, Oliver, Zip and Edward throw her into a pit in the library with their drone ruler thing that apparently has the capacity to carry a fifteen year old. Now separated from her only friend, Claire wanders the hallways. Unfortunately, she collides with Miss Circle, Miss Bloomie, and Miss Thavel, who present her with failed assignments.
She is provoked by the trio and is forced to run. When Miss Bloomie slices her ankle, thus causing her to trip and become vulnerable, Miss Circle nearly ends her life, but Engel abruptly appears and saves her, blocking Miss Circle's weapon with his hands. Engel then shouts at Claire to hurry and escape, and she unhesitantly obeys. Unfortunately, Zip and Oliver's "Exit" prank causes her to run into Alice. Alice ensues in a chase with Claire. Claire runs with no avail and eventually succumbs to her death in the hands of Alice. Engel appears bruised and damaged greatly by his heroic act of defending her. When he discovers her body, he looks in distress at Claire's corpse.

In an official artwork by Katie, a younger Engel and Claire appear to be taking notes while Oliver talks about dinosaurs. This implies that the two are childhood friends, and have known each other outside Paper School, since they both have their alternative design colors.
Fanon[]
Englaire is a popular ship in the Fundamental Paper Education fandom. It's the second most written ship for the fandom on Ao3, and the most written ship for both characters. It's minorly rivaled by Zipclaire and Bisclaire on Claire's side, and ships like Enbbie and Engward on Engel's.
The support of Englaire in canon for the most part comes from Engel being the one welcoming Claire to paper school, as well as him protecting Claire from an attack by Miss Circle, and taking a hit for her.
