Enjay is the het ship between Serial Designation N and Serial Designation J from the Murder Drones fandom.

Canon[]

Pilot[]

J, along with V and N, are ordered by home company, JCJenson, to eliminate all Workers remaining on the exoplanet, Copper 9. As the number of murdered drones begin to pile up, so does J’s aggression towards N. When N describes J to Uzi, a flashback plays with N being pinned to the ground by J’s foot as she is degrading him for his poor performance as a Disassembly Drone. She described him as “useless and terrible,” and if the company allowed the act of eliminating any Disassembly Drones who are deemed useless and a weight on the team, she wouldn’t hesitate to murder him. Despite the crucial criticism, N describes her as being an awesome person. As Uzi and N are conversing in the landing pod, shuffling could be heard outside, indicating that his team has returned.

After V notices Uzi’s presence fleeing from the scene, J notices N’s unusual behavior due to the fact that he had been beheaded by Uzi’s railgun. She assumes that his clumsy behavior kicked in and he tripped and knocked himself offline. To reset him, she lands a harsh slap on his face and calls him “moron bot”. When he awakens, his recently crashed memories recognize Uzi’s face, revealing that she is a Worker that he let loose. Upon realization, he fumbles to find an excuse before dashing outside, in which J and V exchange suspicious stares. When he successfully leaves an opening into the Worker colony, J praises him, saying that she couldn’t believe that he didn’t do something that wasn’t useless. As a reward, she gives him a JCJenson branded pen before attempting to follow V. She is interrupted by his words signifying that the Disassembly Drones and the Workers can coincide. J is baffled, and her appreciation towards him quickly fades. Viewing his attempt to persuade her as a rebellion move against JCJenson, who she respects deeply, she punishes him by injecting a harmful virus in his software before mocking him and deserting.

When he is fixed by Uzi, they confront J and V before anyone else could get hurt. N attempts to wave at them, but he gets a shoulder nudge by Uzi, hinting that this is the time to employ a smart remark. He then politely admits to J that he wished she was nicer to him. In return, J calls him a traitor and begins her usual criticism. Uzi asks which drone he would prefer to fight, in which he chooses J, but the latter ignores his preference and takes on J instead, leaving him with V. When the battle comes to a climax, J is left headless.

Heartbeat[]

When Uzi and N explore the further areas of the colony, they collide with an eldritch J, which was the AbsoluteSolver attempting to rebuild her head and grant her life. As Uzi witnesses this horrific form, she was prepared to throw an insult before being interrupted by N who claimed that the being in front of them looked great. He then throws a disapproving glance at Uzi. Before the angsty Worker could get brutally harmed to the point of no survival, she is rescued by N, who leaves an explosive to destroy the eldritch J. When her heart-like core begins scuttering around, he stabs it many times with his tail with a disgusted and fearful expression.

It is revealed that J’s perspective towards N remained no different than their time as Disassembly Drones. In N’s brief flashback he accidentally collides into V, dropping all carefully aligned wine glasses on his tray. In attempts to clean up, their fingers touch, creating a spark. Before N could say anything to the latter as he appears flustered by their encounter, J violently kicks him to the ground, remarking with “Move over, idiot.” Her insult is interrupted by Tessa’s presence that had entered the room, in which she adopts an innocent facade.

Home[]

As N is viewing a picture he drew, J drew a human-like self portrait of herself with the note “kill yourself” on it. However, when N is nearly decapitated by a corrupted V’s attack, J throws herself in and reflects the attack, saving the male butler.

Throughout the progression of the series, despite J’s very harmful and degrading attitude towards the latter, N continually treats her with respect. This is not out of arrogance, for he has acknowledged that she is unnecessarily rude to him for unspecified reasons. He is constantly trying to gain her respect, and compliments her in the presence of others and handles her criticism well.

Moments[]

  • In Absolute End, when J nearly decapitates Uzi, N and V step in with N telling J "no more tricks" and attacking her with a missile, sending her flying into a pit and ultimately defeating her.

Fanon[]

Enjay is unarguably the most hated ship within the Murder Drones fandom due to their very toxic and unhealthy relationship. Others may reason that they dislike J’s character, refusing to ship her with N, whilst others may say that their favorite character is N, and they refuse to ship them with J due to the harm she inflicts on him; More commonly, the fandom thrives without bias and refute against the ship regardless of which character they dislike or favor in the relationship. Despite the constant hatred thrown at it, fans of the ship argue that it would be a perfect “Enemies to Lovers” trope. There are theories that classify J as a tsundere due to her anime based character design and aggressive attitude towards one person, that person being N. J is never shown degrading anyone else besides him, and there is no explicit evidence shown that he deserves it nor explaining her reasoning to do so.

This upholds the theory of the “Tsundere” trope, fans believing that she has a secret attraction to him and refuses to admit it, finding anything she can to degrade him. This is further evidenced by J kicking N out of the way of a fatal attack in Home. However, not much canon evidence exists that proves that J is ever disingenuous with her dislike of N or in any similar scenario to back up that theory. Despite their toxic connection and J betraying her squad, it remains as one of the most popular ships for J.

Some also believe that during their life in the mansion, their relationship resembled a brother and sister who oppose each other, which excludes attraction to each other. This gives interest to the headcanon that J also shares feelings for V like her "brother" and her rivalry with him is a consequence of her toxicity.

Trivia[]

  • N and J were formally known as the only Disassembly Drones to be deemed alive. This is due to the rest of the Disassembly Drone squads being massacred by the Sentinels and the unknown status of V.
  • They are one of the only characters who have been blasted by Uzi's railgun.
  • In N's acrylic stand, it features him happily severing the Eldritch J's head.
