Euluc is the het ship between Eula Lawrence and Diluc Ragnvindr from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

Whilst Eula and Diluc don't directly interact in the actual game, many fans have drawn parallels between the two. The most obvious that they are both claymore users that come from wealthy families, and hold a mutual dislike for the Knights of Favonius. In addition, both have been members of the knights, leaving them with many comparable experiences. Despite each outwardly showing a harsh and sometimes cold attitude to others, they are both shown to have a caring heart inside, with this hidden side rarely shown to others. In the voice lines about each other Diluc finds Eula admirable but expressed his disappoint with her decision to join the Knights of Favonius. In contrast, Eula believes that Diluc and she could potentially bond over their mutual dislike of the nights, but because of Diluc's aloof personality she claims to dislike him, comparing him to Jean.

They both tend to be misunderstood by others as their actions aren't easy to read to those who aren't close to them. However, each of them also has a close person that seems to understand, at least somewhat, their feelings and actions. In the case of Eula, it is Amber; a woman Eula has been friends with for many years, since before she joined the Knights. For Diluc, it is Kaeya; a man whom he seems to share a love/hate relationship with on the surface, but with much more complex feelings hidden underneath. In addition, both are characters that don't seem to have many close friends (or in the case of Eula, any at all), with Eula being openly disliked, hated or misunderstood by many people for her family name. Diluc also seems to keep most people at arm's length, though his reputation is far better than Eula's is, and he tends to be generally liked.

Both characters also seem to have a hidden skill at cooking, with the in-game description of Diluc's specialty dish openly showing surprise at his ability. Meanwhile, Eula's dish suggests a deeper meaning, with the description hinting at messages the shape might be sending. In any case, both of these dishes reveal the mutual love the characters have for Mondstadt. Diluc's specialty, Once Upon a Time in Mondstadt, is based off a popular dish from Ludi Harpastrum. As for Eula, her Stormcrest Pie is a variant of the Moon Pie, which is a traditional Mondstadt food.

Quotes[]

“Ah, yes... I've heard about her. She has her own convictions. Her determination to liberate herself from the shackles of her clan is praiseworthy. But, she's... joined the Knights of Favonius.”
— DILUC ABOUT EULA
“I don't get along with some of the knights, and he doesn't think much of them in general, so you'd think that would make us allies. But the way he always acts so aloof- he's even worse than Acting Grandmaster Jean. I want nothing to do with him.”
— EULA ABOUT DILUC

Fanon[]

Within the ship, Eula and Diluc are often portrayed as being childhood friends, along with Jean and Kaeya. The basis for this is that all of them come from well-known families within Mondstadt, and are interpreted as being around the same age. In some fan works, Diluc is shown defending Eula from bullies as a child, or harassment as an adult; abuse that comes from her family's reputation, the Lawrences. As adults, they are occasionally shown having a hidden, secretive relationship, in order to avoid any repercussions towards Diluc's own reputation. Otherwise, they are also commonly shown as rivals with fiercely competing personalities.

Another portrayal seen is them dancing together or playing instruments; given that Eula is a skilled dancer and aristocrats are usually taught how to dance and play instruments. Diluc in general has also been featured in fanon as playing the piano, violin, or another instrument. As for tropes, a popular reason for this ship is due to the opposites attract dynamic. For example, Diluc having a Pyro vision while Eula has a Cryo vision; opposite element ships are often extremely popular (look no further than the main competing ships for both of these characters!). Additionally, their outward personalities clashing can also be seen as forming of a love hate trope. Another angle to consider is the contrast of their reputations; which can lend well towards a great deal of interesting tropes, such as enemies to lovers or foe-yay, as well as power imbalances, with Diluc having a great deal of influence in Mondstadt which could be used on Eula, with her left unable to resist due to her own lack.

Because of the fact that the two characters never had an on-screen interaction and the lack of popularity compared to other ships, Euluc is a rare pair ship in the Genshin Impact community. On AO3, there are a total of 77 entries for Euluc, which includes both romantic and platonic entries. Of these, the vast majority is romantic, with 62 romantic entries and only 15 platonic ones. Adult content is quite popular within shippers, with roughly 50% of entries being rated as Mature or higher, and the most popular additional tags being of a similar nature. Besides that, Fluff and Angst are the most popular themes, and the longest entry for a Euluc focused story is 14k words long. In general, Euluc is often overshadowed by more popular ships involving the characters, such as KaeLuc or EulAmber, which are the respective character's most popular pairings; but Euluc appears to have a passionate fanbase, however small it may be.
