With the release of Evernight's trailers, players began to pick up on Evernight's notable protectiveness of March 7th, as well as the extreme physical and emotional intimacy featured. Many players immediately connected EverMarch to SeeleVeli, another Honkai ship between alters featuring a protective alter and the gentle host they wish to protect. A comparison was also drawn to Mutsumortis, as some fans theorized March 7th and Evernight may be inspired by Mutsumi and Mortis, a canonical DID system widely praised for being exceptional writing, also featuring an extreme protective alter willing to do anything to protect her host from any harm.
Due to confusion in the fandom on whether they are the same person, a decent amount of EverMarch shippers don't view them as a system and rather as selfcest, which has made EverMarch subject to some disapproval by those who disapprove of selfcest.
