Faciliana is the het ship between Dr. Facilier and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog fandom.

Canon

Tiana is aware of Dr. Facilier as the "Shadow Man," who is known to use his manipulating charm and magic on those he has robbed through the guise of making his victim's dreams come true. Like the rest of New Orleans Tiana fears him and has distrust for the man, even though they haven't met before the events of the film.

The events that led up to Tiana and Facilier meeting face to face were set into motion after one of Facilier's voodoo spells passed onto her. Turning Tiana into a frog from simply being an none princess who kissed the prince Facilier had turned into an amphibian, in order to obtain a large amount of money from a wealthy family that Tiana happens to be friends with. She learns that the Shadow Man is responsible for her frog transformation, after Naveen explains how he came to be a frog himself, and has had encounters with some of Facilier's friends from the other side. Tiana was simply caught in the crosshairs of Facilier's ultimate scheme, as she and her friends find themselves getting in his way while they were helping Naveen.

Once Facilier heard Tiana warn his shadow creature friends that she'll smash the talisman he seeks reclaim, the witch doctor acted quickly before that could happen. By using his magic to make her human again and then creates an illusion of the restraint she and her late father dreams of opening. He let her admire the illusion before he offers Tiana a deal, if she hands the talisman back to him he'll make it a reality. Tiana was hesitant, knowing that it wasn't right and the knowledge of Facilier being a bad person. Despite not knowing the reasons why he wants it back or that his life depends on the talisman remaining intact. To make Tiana cave in, he reminds her of the people who have dismissed her, before mentioning her father. Revealing the pain and exposition he kept hidden from her as a child, before Facilier shows her one of the happy moments she shared with her family. Feeling that Tiana is slipping into his will, Facilier whispers "your almost there" into her ear as he hovers his hand under the one Tiana held the talisman in.

Facilier showing Tiana a happy moment from her past backfire on him, as it gives Tiana the strength to deny the Shadow Man. He was right about her father never having what he wanted, but he had what he needed and Tiana wasn't going to lose sight of the love she has in her life either. Although Facilier anxiously tells Tiana to be careful with the talisman, before she prepares to smack it, his shadow catches it on time. Now that he has it back and from how Tiana turned his deal down, Facilier turns her back into a frog. Pinning her down as he tells Tiana that her refusing him will have her spend the rest of her life as a frog. Refusing to let him win, Tiana uses her frog tongue to snatch the talisman back and then smash it before he could stop her. Once it was destroyed Facilier had no way to pay his debut to his friends, who appear to claim his soul. Tiana kept herself hidden from them as she watches Facilier be dragged away, and after they there gone Tiana sees a grave stone with Facilier's frightened face on it. Revealing the nature of his fate to her.

Moments

• Facilier was seen sitting in one of Tiana's places of work. Overhearing Tiana mention her dream, as he was eavesdropping on her friend, Charlotte La Bouff.
• Facilier sees frog Tiana float away with Naveen in the distance.

Fanon

Although scenes between the two were very limited, Tiana being the main protagonist and Dr. Facilier serving as the central antagonist is one of the main reasons for this ship. As Disney fans and shippers enjoy shipping Disney Princesses with the villains of their story. Those who don't agree with "Hero x Villain" ships, however, focus on a redeemed/reformed Facilier.

Trivia

• Tiana defeating Facilier by smashing the talisman is similar to a scene from the Broadway musical production of The Little Mermaid. As Ariel defeats Ursula by smashing her magic shell, that Ursula had tried to get Ariel to hand it back to her.
