Failed Creations is the family ship between Touya Todoroki, Fuyumi Todoroki and Natsuo Todoroki from the My Hero Academia fandom.
Canon[]
Touya & Fuyumi[]
When Fuyumi was born, Touya was happy with the new addition to the family. When they were kids, Touya confided in her about his desire to be acknowledged in the eyes of their father. In turn, Fuyumi showed great concern over seeing her older brother's burn marks and asked him not to push himself, though Touya angrily ignored her pleas and simply said a girl wouldn't understand, determined to surpass All Might. Despite being a "failed creation" like him and Natsuo, Touya did not share a particularly positive relationship with Fuyumi. Though he did interact with her rather well and would play together with her and Natsuo, Touya would choose to confide in Natsuo his personal thoughts and doubts instead. When Natsuo told Touya to talk to Fuyumi about his doubts instead of him once in a while, Touya rejected the idea, believing that both his mother and Fuyumi were good for nothing due to their constant attempts to dissuade him from training his Quirk and his dream of becoming a hero that surpasses All Might.
After awakening from his coma, he wanted to apologize to his sister and other relatives for his actions but that changed after his brief return home. Nowadays, Fuyumi mourns his "death" and she prays at his altar. Unlike Natsuo, she doesn't seem to blame their father for his death. However, when Touya revealed himself in public in an attempt to attack Enji and Keigo, Fuyumi appeared greatly shocked by this despite not knowing his true identity around that time. Like the rest of her family, Fuyumi would be deeply shocked and saddened by Touya's broadcast and the revelation that her brother had become a mass murderer and a villain.
Touya & Natsuo[]
In Fuyumi's words, Touya and Natsuo were extremely close to each other, to point of being inseparable as they always played together as kids. Touya would also tell Natsuo everything about his personal conflicts and inner struggles, leaning on him for emotional comfort. Though Natsuo did indeed love his brother and listened to him, when Touya was talking to his younger brother when he was sleepy, Natsuo asked Touya to talk to Fuyumi every once in a while, slightly exhausted at having to listen to his brother's problems so often. This would hurt Touya, who believed Natsuo was brushing him off just like their father did, and explained that Natsuo was the only one who could understand him and the only one Touya believed he could really talk to, demonstrating just how much Touya relied on his younger brother. His supposed death greatly affected Natsuo, which caused him to greatly resent his father, whom he considers to be primarily responsible for what happened to Touya.
Nowadays, Natsuo still remembers Touya and still can't forgive his father for it. When Touya revealed himself in public in an attempt to attack Enji and Hawks, Natsuo appeared greatly shocked by this despite not knowing his true identity around that time. Around the time of the Paranormal Liberation War, Natsuo is shown to be deeply horrified upon learning that Touya is actually his long-lost brother Touya who survived his accident. After reminiscing of Touya and the events that made him become a villain, Natsuo stated that Enji was the root cause for Touya's descent into villainy. However, he also admits that he had a part to play as well, and believes if he'd been more open with his father about his mistreatment of Touya in the past, things wouldn't have turned out so badly, choosing not to place all the blame on his father's shoulders and instead offering to be there with the rest of the family to help his father stop Touya. As seen from their past, despite their supposed positive relationship, its been implied that Touya himself didn't initially have a good impression of his younger brother when he was born due to having figured out that his father was trying to make his new "replacement" in having more children. Also, Touya reacted callously to when Shoto informed him that Ending nearly killed Natsuo and said Enji would have suffered more if he lost his son.
Fuyumi & Natsuo[]
Natsuo has a good relationship with his older sister Fuyumi, and as with Touya, they usually played together as kids. The pair still get along in their older years, with Fuyumi regularly teasing him in their visit to their mother much to his dismay. However, unlike him, Fuyumi is able to look past their father's faults. He knows that she is trying so hard to fix the family that Enji broke, and that everyone can live together as a real and normal family. For this reason, for Fuyumi's sake, he is willing to begrudgingly participate in which his father is present, to respect the feelings of his sister, although this inevitably generates tension and Natsuo usually leaves to avoid more problems. She also expressed concern for him after he was attacked by a villain, which he assured his frantic sister
Fanon[]
Failed Creations is a rare family ship within the My Hero Academia fandom. The tragedy of the fact that the three are "failed creations" isn't a sweet thing to taste by the fandom, but they appreciate their relationship as a children. The relationship grew somewhat in popularity upon the release of the Toya Todoroki reveal in the anime in late 2022. Most fanworks about this trio are focused on their childhood, which might be why it is less popular than other dynamics that feature the characters as teenagers or adults.
The ship currently has over 30 works on AO3. It is much less popular than the relationship between all four siblings, or the relationship between Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto.
