FaruScara is the het ship between Scaramouche and Faruzan from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

Scaramouche and Faruzan have yet to properly interact in-game, though they were both announced for and released in 3.3. However, in the 3.6 event "A Parade of Providence," they have a brief encounter in the final trial, in which Scaramouche knocks Faruzan's Vairambhaka Gear away from her, sending her into a rage.

They have a lot in common. They both have Anemo visions, and their color palettes are mostly blues and whites. Both are from Sumeru, though Scaramouche was originally from Inazuma. Both characters are over 100 years old. Another similarity they share is that they use ranged weapons, with Scaramouche using a catalyst and Faruzan using a bow. Faruzan is the second Anemo bow user, and Scaramouche is the second male Catalyst user, making them both the second of their respective weapon types (and other factors).

Their general appearance also has some similarities, and in some cases contrasts. Scaramouche's hair is dark blue, while Faruzan's is a light teal. Both have some sort of object resting on their chest. They both have shirt collars that go part way up their necks, and also have short sleeves, though Scaramouche has longer black sleeves underneath. White is a big part of each of their outfits, and they both have eyes that are shades of blue.

As seen in the 3.6 event, it's likely that their personalities will clash at first. Scaramouche has a very sharp tongue, while Faruzan is more gentle yet haughty, though both can be sassy at times. While Scaramouche's sense of superiority comes from his inherent strength, Faruzan's comes from her own wisdom. She shows little interest in those she deems unworthy of her discipleship, while he sees value only in strength. Both would see the other as inferior, even though they cover each other's weaknesses quite well.

Both Scaramouche and Faruzan have less close relationships with the Traveler, and both say rude things, though Scaramouche does it far more often. Scaramouche does this because of his history with the Traveler, namely their encounter in Inazuma and their fight after he became an artificial god. Faruzan does it because she's a teacher and prefers to be treated with the respect of one. Also, since they're both very old, they've each lived through a lot of history in their respective nations.

In addition to their personalities, their lore has some striking similarities. Both Faruzan and Scaramouche have been imprisoned for a century. They both lost their families and share the pain of being alone with a world that does not understand them. Faruzan is a product of a bygone era, while Scaramouche has been forgotten by the effects of Irminsul. All in all, both have been forgotten, though Faruzan had the good fortune to be famous before she disappeared. These experiences may bring them closer than they seem.

Gameplay-wise, they work very well together. Faruzan lowers enemies' Anemo resistance and gives the active character Anemo damage bonuses, allowing Scaramouche to increase his damage. This parallels their teacher-student dynamic nicely, as she increases his damage output.

Fanon[]

FaruScara is definitely a rare pair, although it has grown since the 3.6 event. Still, there are some fans. In general, most fics follow the "hate at first sight" trope, as well as fighting over everything in a friendly war. The power dynamic kink is also common, as both appear outwardly dominant to anyone they deem inferior.

Their lore is strikingly similar. Faruzan and Scara both lost their families and had to walk the world alone, both were trapped for a century (Kabukimono and the ruins for Faruzan), both were forgotten by almost everyone; Scara erased himself in Irminsul and Faruzan was speculated to be "dead" and soon forgot about her missing case, meaning both characters had to start from scratch.

Faruzan and Wanderer are both scholars of the Akademiya whose intellect and wisdom surpass the people in their respective Darshans. Their differences may cause them to clash and belittle each other as they compete for academic status.

Depending on whether Faruzan knows of his true mechanical nature, there are a few variations of this ship. If she remains ignorant, they either become friendly rivals or outwardly antagonize each other, eventually becoming something more romantic/platonic. If she's told the truth, Faruzan would be interested in him, given her fascination with mechanisms and puzzles. Also, since Faruzan's personality is much kinder than many of the people Scaramouche has known, she would help him learn to trust people and be a nicer person in general. Had they met before the Irminsul Wipe, Faruzan might have been recruited into the Artificial God project, becoming a more toxic relationship comparable to ScaraMona. They are also a very aesthetically pleasing duo, with shades of blue and white, which may help with the ship's popularity.

FaruScara is currently overshadowed by Scaramouche's most popular ships: ScaraLumi, Scaraether, and KazuScara.

They currently have 36 works on AO3.

Trivia[]

  • Haravatat and Vahumana Connection: It is said that Vahumana and Haravatat sometimes have themes or topics that overlap; their respective Darshans would definitely have interacted off-screen. Vahumana scholars also take trips to ruins, which is also one of Faruzan's pastimes.
  • Wanderer's Passive, Strum the Swirling Winds: A utility passive that discounts the mora used to ascend bows and catalysts, weapons wielded by both Wanderer and Faruzan.
  • They both disliked small talk and saw no value in conversation. After their respective rebirths, Faruzan became more sociable, while Wanderer attempted to.
  • Their banners have always been released together since 3.3.
