ShinKami is the slash ship between Denki Kaminari and Hitoshi Shinsou from the My Hero Academia fandom.
Canon[]
Denki and Hitoshi first interact during the Culture Festival Arc where a zombie Shinsou scares Kaminari, Mina, Mineta, and Sero. Their first conversation happens during the Joint Training Arc, in which they team up against Class B. Despite Hitoshi's distant attitude, Denki tries to strengthen ties with him by complimenting him and tries to make him feel comfortable in the group. He even defends him when Katsuki describes him like a dead weight for the exercise due to his lack of experience.
After the initial clash with the 1-B team, Hitoshi is well aware of his inexperience in battle. He apologizes for his slowness in capturing Jurota Shishida. After that Denki immediately points out that Hitoshi was able to stop Jurota, avoiding the total defeat of 1-A team, and how Denki had already given up on winning until then. Kaminari tells Hitoshi that he likes him and (depending on the translation) tells Hitoshi that he is a "proper hero hopeful just like the rest of us" putting Shinsou on equal footing with the class he's seen as far above him all this time. Denki compliments Hitoshi a lot during this exchange and they eventually win their battle against Class B by combined strategy and might.
At one point, Denki casually states, “You have the face of a popular guy. I’ll bet you’re popular with the ladies, yeah? Trust me, I can tell.” This line easily, if not directly, implies that Denki finds Hitoshi to be rather attractive.
As the series has progressed, Shinsou and Kaminari have been seen in various scenes of Shinsou interacting with Class A where Kaminari is clearly happy and excited to have him as a potential class member. There is also a scene Horikoshi drew where Sero and Kaminari show Shinsou to the dorm room he would have if he joined class A which is filled with cat toys and cat designed things, showing that they paid attention to his affection for cats. Kaminari physically holds, playfully pushes/drags, and leans on Shinsou during this exchange.
Fanon[]
Their relationship is often compared to EraserMic, SirMight, MiriTama, and KiriBaku. (And other opposites attract shippings). Thanks to the introverted dark-haired (with the exception of Katsuki’s blonde) man x loud blond man extrovert trope. Kaminari immediately commenting on his looks has caused many fans to think he is bisexual.
There is a considerable amount of content for ShinKami. Especially on Tumblr and AO3. There is also a lot of memes and fanfictions that mention Present Mic, Kaminari, Kirishima, Mirio, and Deku becoming friends with Eraserhead, Shinso, Bakugo, Tamaki, and Todoroki respectively, due to the parallels. Prior to meeting the first five listed characters, the latter five had no close friends but warmed up after meeting them.
Many see their relationship in a sweet and affectionate light. Usually with Kaminari being one of the rare people who do not fear or shun Hitoshi for his powerful quirk. So he interacts with him despite of the dangers of being brainwashed. Shinso's cold exterior slowly crumbles the more he hangs around Kaminari. In return, Shinso sees Kaminari as more than just comedic relief and helps him grow as a hero and sometimes even academically. In fan works like these, Hitoshi has often already transferred to the hero course and is in Class 1-A, where he is quickly befriended by Kaminari and his friends.
Another repeated theme is where Shinso gave up on his dream of becoming a hero due to his quirk being so frowned upon and ends up becoming a member of the League of Villains. But he falls in love with someone who accepted him for who he is (Kaminari) . He then betrays the League for the heroes. Other AUs also show Shinso being the only one who doesn’t call Kaminari stupid or dumb, and that’s why he feels warm and comfortable in Hitoshi's presence.
In fanon content that portrays them sexually interacting, Shinso is usually given a more dominant role than Kaminari although Kaminari is usually the more sexually open out of the two. This isn't a rule but it is a common depiction, possibly related to Shinso's quirk as well as Kaminari's easy-going nature with those he's close with.
On AO3, ShinKami is the most written ship for both Hitoshi and Denki. It has also had considerable growth and as of 2022 it's in the top ten AO3 ships for BNHA. There are over 8500 fanfiction works currently written about the ship.
