Kaebedo is the slash ship between Kaeya Alberich and Albedo from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon

It's stated that they met and know each other. Kaeya and Albedo are both living in Mondstadt and share a similar color scheme. They are both Knights of Favonius Captains: Kaeya the Cavalry Captain, and Albedo the Chief Alchemist & Captain of the Investigation Team. During the preliminary quest to unlock "Dodoco's BoomTastic Adventure" in Version 4.1, it's implied by Lisa that Albedo and Kaeya have acted as Klee's primary caretakers while Alice is away on her expedition.

Voicelines

In Kaeya's voiceline about Albedo, he flatters him by saying that everyone loves him, some more than others. He comments on Albedo's charm, saying "what, you into him as well?" implying that he is interested in Albedo.

In Albedo's "More About Albedo – III" voiceline, he talks about Kaeya and the fact that he is teasing him when he draws him ("I might only need three strokes of the pencil to sketch Kaeya — one for the face, one for the eyepatch string... and one for the eyepatch."). The choice to talk about Kaeya makes them seem close. Albedo not only sketches him, as Klee stated, but also paints him.

Since Albedo doesn't really enjoy socializing, the fact that he has a relationship with Kaeya close enough for him to sketch him in a teasing manner shows that he cares about him. (Albedo's "About Albedo – Socializing" voiceline). Albedo also refers to him only as "Kaeya" instead of Cavalry Captain, and Kaeya refers to him as "Albedo" instead of Chief Alchemist. This shows that the two of them are not strangers. Though it is not explicitly confirmed whether they are close friends or not, Kaeya and Albedo's voicelines about each other imply that they get along well.

Midsummer Island Adventure

In Act 3, Kaeya, Albedo, Diluc and Razor went together on Dvalin to the Golden Apple Archipelago.

While Kaeya and Diluc were arguing, Albedo left them together for a moment and went to another island. Kaeya and Diluc met the Traveler, Jean, Barbara and Klee on the Island. Still in their fight, Kaeya looked at Diluc saying "Albedo is an alchemist, and skilled at his craft. If I could use those beautiful artificial flowers of his, it would be a simple affair to traverse these islands" because Diluc kept melting the water that Kaeya froze because of the Cryo and Pyro incompatibility. Also, as a reference to Albedo, Kaeya said that "If you had a Geo Vision, I'd be long asleep on one of the other island".

Then, all of them expect Razor joined Albedo. Klee was excited to see Albedo again and stood beside him, facing the rest of the group. Kaeya spoke to Albedo, while stepping forward and detaching himself from the others, closer to Albedo, telling him "I trust you enjoyed your stroll? How kind of you to maroon us on that neighboring island" and Albedo answered in the same way, ironically, by "Please, don't mention it. I felt that the two of you could do with some alone time". While talking about the letters sent by Dodo-King, Kaeya stood next to Klee, now facing the others and lining up with Klee and Albedo as a separate group, while no one else moved since the beginning of the conversation. Thereafter, the whole group joined Razor on the central isle.

After defeated the awakened Inazuman device, all of them theorize together about the machine, the Island and its past. Then, the group went to the isle with the "big shield", where Dodo-King must be. There is a device on the isle to break the energy shield. After thinking about how to break it, having something to do with fish, Klee ran to fish blasting. In the end, everyone went to do something on their side : Albedo left without anyone noticing him and Kaeya took a stroll, exploring the Island.

Kaeya's Hangout Event

Albedo greets Kaeya and welcomes him back from Sumeru. Kaeya informs Albedo he has brought back some souvenirs for Albedo and Klee, Albedo tells Kaeya that he is too kind, and that Klee has been waiting for Kaeya’s return. Jean says that Klee has been grounded, to which Albedo replies saying that Kaeya must not be surprised at all. Kaeya laughs, saying that Klee staying out of trouble would be surprising. Albedo says that since his souvenir is part of a set with Klee, once Klee is released (from being grounded), he’ll bring her to see Kaeya and they’ll collect their souvenirs together. Kaeya agrees.

Fanon

Kaeya's voiceline was the main "motivation" behind this ship and the interactions between them. In the English dub, "What, you into him as well?", which implies that he himself could possibly be interested in Albedo. After the Midsummer Adventures aired the ship became more popular, especially since Kaeya seems to be fond of Albedo. Calling him talented, etc. It's currently the fourth most written ship in the Genshin Impact AO3 tag, as well the most written ship for Albedo and the second one for Kaeya.

The ship also sailed because of the popular Opposites Attract Trope, since Kaeya is a carefree person and Albedo is more serious and quiet.

Since Albedo considers Klee as his younger sister, and Kaeya takes care of Klee and seems to view her as a younger sister as well, there is a chance or headcanon that they might take care of her together.

A portion of this ship is fueled by the fact that Albedo was created by the alchemist Gold, a resident of Khaenri'ah, and that Albedo have ties to Khaenri'ah. Kaeya is also from Khaenri'ah (one theory suggests that he may be a prince of the country), and many works capitalize on this possible shared history. Albedo additionally expresses that he may one day "lose control" and destroy Mondstadt. Because of this, fans often tease the ship by making theories on how the pair could possibly destroy Mondstadt together in the near future.

It's main rival ships are KaeLuc, Kaeya's most popular ship, and Albecrose, Albedo's second most popular ship. It currently has 4400+ works in AO3.

Trivia

• The English translations of Albedo and Kaeya's voicelines mentioning each other are slightly mistranslated.
  • In the Chinese version of Kaeya's "About Albedo" voiceline, he calls Albedo a "handsome man" ("小帅哥 xiǎo shuàigē"), and implies more of a romantic fascination with Albedo in the term "心动 xīndòng", literally meaning "[one's] heart moving", typically used when talking about crushes.
  • In the Chinese version of Albedo's "More About Albedo: III" voiceline, he talks about how his feelings can sometimes affect his work. His use of "有时候 yǒu shíhòu", meaning "sometimes", when describing how long it takes him to draw Huffman and Kaeya implies that Huffman taking half a day to draw and Kaeya only taking three strokes is being used as an example of his mood affecting his work. This further implies that he normally does take longer amounts of time to draw Kaeya, and doesn't spend much time on Huffman.
  • In Albedo's "More About Albedo: III" voiceline, he also describes the process to draw his three-stroke Kaeya. His use of the phrase "这个 zhège", meaning "this", implies that he is either actively drawing an example of the doodle for the traveler to see, or simply has an example on hand and is pointing out each stroke to the traveler.

By stepping forward and detaching himself from the others, and stood next to Klee, lining up with the two while no one else moved since the beginning of the conversation.
• In Inazuma's event Hues of the Violet Garden, Klee tells Yoimiya how great Albedo paints and mentions examples of his painting. Kaeya is the only person, mentioned by Klee, as being painted among Hilichurls and Dodoco.

(As of the date of this alteration, Kaeya has been the only cryo character to show up on the archipelago, so it's safe to assume that the cryo reference is intended to be him.)
• In a fanmade short on YT, the end of the video featured Kaeya and Albedo in a sauna together, with Kaeya's arm around his shoulders and Albedo's cheeks reddening. Both of their official CN VAs participated in the short.
