Ayather is the het ship between Kamisato Ayaka and Aether from the Genshin Impact fandom.
Canon[]
Archon Quest[]
In Act 1 of Inazuma's Chapter, Aether first meets Ayaka in the Kamisato Estate, though only hearing her voice as she was sitting right behind a traditional Inazuman screen, similar to a Japanese Shoji. Ayaka asks him to help her fight the Vision Hunt Decree, but Aether, who visited Ayaka in hopes of meeting the Raiden Shogun, promptly declines and tells her he's going to leave. Ayaka begged him to stay and promised that she'll help him meet the Raiden Shogun under one condition; Aether had to fulfill three small wishes for her, namely meeting three people who had their visions taken from them by the Vision Hunt Decree.
After meeting them, Aether comes back to the Kamisato Estate. When stepping inside, there was no voice, until Ayaka came out behind the screen. Seeing him for the first time Ayaka told him that she was delighted to meet him face-to-face. Ayaka states that she now considers Aether a friend. Aether (and Paimon) both accept her friendship, which Ayaka, who is later revealed to have few friends, is very thankful for.
Ayaka asks him again if he could help her fight the Vision Hunt Decree. Aether, having reconsidered his decision, finally accepts her request, now willing to help her, provided she keeps her promise of helping him meet the Raiden Shogun.
In Act 2 of Inazuma's Chapter, Aether arrives at Komore Teahouse to meet up with her and Thoma, the latter being absent. Ayaka suddenly storms in, asking if he saw Thoma, which he declines. Ayaka was worried for him and told Aether that he was taken away by the Tenryou Commission and that the Raiden Shogun will take his vision. Ayaka wanted to go and save him, but as a member of the Yashiro Commission, everything she does is seen as politically motivated. Fearing that her actions might be viewed as a declaration of war, Aether volunteers to save Thoma instead, which Ayaka reluctantly accepts.
Grus Nivis[]
After leaving Komore Teahouse, Ayaka had requested Aether, the Traveler, to accompany her to do some errands. All of the errands are related to international stuff such as materials and cuisine, Aether having traveled from other nations shared his knowledge about them to help solve the problem. It is later revealed that all of the errands are from the diary of Ayaka's mother, Kamisato Kayo, who wishes to participate in activities outside of her role as the Lady of the Kamisato Clan. It resonated with Ayaka and summoned her courage to ask Aether to go with her to a festival. Ayaka, Aether, and Paimon all went to a festival on Amakane Island.
In the festival, they meet people who were helped by the Yashiro Commission, Kamisato Clan, and by Aether and Ayaka as well. They were given a kitsune fox mask and a recipe for Sakura Mochi, a food that Ayaka will master herself. They also took the opportunity to hang wishes, Ayaka wished for Inazuma's happiness while Aether hung an image of him and his sister Lumine. It was time for them to leave the festival and the three made their way to Chinju Forest. Ayaka was very thankful for this day to Aether, being her first time going to a festival. Before parting ways Ayaka had one last gift for Aether as she dashed through the stream and performed a dance like no one was watching. Having said their goodbyes, Aether and Paimon left Chinju Forest but Aether can be heard humming the tune Ayaka was humming before in her performance.
Warrior's Spirit[]

While Aether and Paimon were walking, they interrupted a sparring match between two swordsmen. The two, after being defeated by Aether, gave their entry ticket to the Warrior Spirit's Event to them. Not knowing what the event is about, they seek to ask the Yashiro Commission about it. After being belittled by a Yashiro Officer, Aether decided to prove him wrong. Aether and Paimon then went to Ritou where Ayaka is handling competition matters with Miss Chisato.
Ayaka and Aether sees each other again, Chisato thought that Aether and Paimon came back because of a letter sent by Ayaka. Ayaka clarified to Aether that she was feeling anxious after she was selected to play the role of the Archon's Emissary so she wanted to write a letter to Aether to ask him for some advice, to which Aether reassures her that she can ask him anytime.
Ayaka mentions how Aether has helped her many times before, and how he has lent her his ears when she speaks about her troubles.
Ayaka was supposed to wear an outfit with the theme of one of the seasons of Inazuma that would be selected by public vote. To Aether and Paimon's surprise, the themes in the polls during the voting were from Light Novels. Ayaka chose to move forward with the outfit being based on a light novel. Ayaka feels excited because she gets to feel the fashion of other Nations that Aether was talking to her about.
Aether joined the competition and climbed up victorious with each match. Aether wins the exhibition and will accompany Ayaka to the final exhibition match against the Shogun's chosen envoy which is the Maguu Kenki. Aether tells Ayaka that he'll pick her up in the morning and they went to rest to prepare for tomorrow.
As promised, Aether went to the Kamisato Estate to pick up Ayaka for their match. While waiting for Ayaka, the Yashiro Representative that belittled Aether earlier is now praising his skills. He entrusts Ayaka's safety to Aether during the match. Ayaka coming out of the estate reveals her outfit for the match. Aether is visibly surprised and silent as he sees Ayaka's Fontaine themed outfit from the Light Novel, The Case Files of Miss Orith. Aether comments on how the outfit suits Ayaka, and how beautiful it is. With the two ready, they set off to the competition.
"I look forward fighting beside you." Ayaka says and the match begins.
With Aether and Ayaka facing off against the Maguu Kenki, together they bested their foe and won the match. After the match, Chisato and Paimon complimented Aether and Ayaka's skills during the match. They were soon joined by Kujou Sara who congratulated the two for their remarkable swordsmanship and cooperation. Sara also says that she learned new things as well from their match. Sara states that their efforts are recognized by the Almighty Shogun, before reporting back to tenshukaku. After Sara leaves, Chisato proposes a victory meal. Paimon agreed and went ahead with Chisato.
Aether, while walking, stopped as he noticed Ayaka's big sigh of relief. They have a conversation alone during a sunset. Ayaka comments how she also learned new things during their match. She states that it would've been impossible for her to win on her own without Aether. Ayaka compliments Aether's swordsmanship and that she is not yet at his level. Aether replies back that she also have helped him many times in the past and that she's being too modest. Hearing that, Ayaka feels so energized that she wants to spar with Aether all of a sudden. She reveals that she was hoping to spar with Aether ever since they met. That wish of her was half fulfilled at the exhibition match.
"Next time we'll find a chance to go for a few rounds." Aether says. To which Ayaka replies,
"Sure. But... until then, make sure you take good care of your sword. If I ever manage to steal it one day, your life will also be in my hands." While pointing to Aether's heart.
She giggles while stating that she wanted to say something like that, Aether comments that it sounded very much like Miss Orith and that it was cute. Their conversation was interrupted by Paimon asking what's taking them so long. Ayaka replies that they were just talking about having a match to determine who is the superior sword fighter between them. Paimon questions why they need a match but for Ayaka, it is a way to learn from each other. Paimon says she understands and goes ahead. Before going ahead as well, Ayaka winks at Aether and requests to keep what all she said as a secret. Aether nods and they all went to the victory feast.

Ayather is a small ship within the Genshin Impact fandom, it's often overshadowed by Ayaka and Aether's more popular ships such as Thomaya, Ayamiya, Chilaether and Xiaother, as well as its counterpart ship AyaLumi. It currently has over 200 works on AO3. It currently one of the most popular Aether het ship in the community.
There were lots of implications that Ayaka had a crush on the Traveler due to her Story Quest and her special dish description, which was the reason why Ayather sailed.
A general meme in the Genshin Impact fandom is that Aether has a 'harem' of girls, this harem often involves characters, like Ayaka, Keqing, Furina, Shenhe, Nilou and Noelle. There are many videos and fan arts that depict Ayaka as jealous whenever Aether interacts with another woman or just portray her as having an obvious crush on him.
