YakuLev is the slash ship between Morisuke Yaku and Lev Haiba from the Haikyu!! fandom.
Canon[]
Yaku is a third year at Nekoma while Haiba Lev is a first year. Both are in the volleyball club, Yaku the team libero and Lev the middle blocker (a self-declared ace).
Lev and Yaku are opposites in physical traits. While Lev is a towering figure, Yaku is short, even if he doesn't like to admit it. Lev's bluntness leads him to directly point this fact out (which eventually leads to Yaku kicking or hitting Lev).
Lev is Yaku's underclassman and "student", who he coaches regularly in receiving (much to Lev's dismay). The two appear to get along, but Lev frequently attempts to escape Yaku's merciless coaching and will at times poke fun at the latter's height, which frequently sends Yaku flying into a rage hitting or kicking him. However, like everyone else on the team, Lev respects and admirer Yaku for his great abilities as a libero.
Nekoma VS Nohebi[]
Before the game begins, Lev thinks about all the times he messed up during the previous match against Fukurodani. Before stepping on court, Yaku tells the rest of his team to not worry if they lose five points as they can make it up with ten and then concentrate on not letting Nohebi score off them. This gets Lev's sprits up again. In the middle of the first set, Yaku gets really mad and starts yelling at Lev, telling him how he is blocking is making it hard for him to receive. Lev gets frustrated as well, saying "But you'll still get the ball, no matter what!" Hearing this, Yaku is flustered. Near the end of the first set, Yaku jumps into the crowd to save the ball but that results in him spraining his ankle. Like everyone else, Lev shows concern when he sees this.
After the match, Yaku is seen head patting Lev and Inuoka on the head while crying.
Nekoma VS Karasuno rematch at Nationals[]
At the 10–13-mark, Lev goes back into the game while Yaku is out. Yaku yells at him, telling to not show off out there, Lev replies with a thumbs-up (which ticks Yaku off). And 18-20 mark, there was a joust between Lev and Kageyama, Yaku is seen telling Lev to "Beat him back!"
After the Nekoma VS Karasuno rematch at Nationals, Lev is seen crying to Yaku.
Fanon[]
It's a very common AU in fanworks for Yaku to be in college and Lev either be in his third year or a freshman in college.
Another mildly popular type of fiction with this ship is A/B/O (Alpha/Beta/Omega), with Yaku being an Omega and Lev an Alpha.
Yaku is sometimes shown as a insecure person because of his height, but hides his insecurities under a strict "senpai attitude". This is often resolved by Lev, as he is the only one that manages to see behind Yaku's "mask" and make him overcome his fears/insecurities.
Lev cannot speak Russian; despite being of Russian-Japanese descent, he was born and raised in Japan. In contrast to that, a trope is for Lev to be able to speak Russian, and Yaku being very weak for it, letting Lev get away with most things.
On AO3, LevYaku is the most popular ship for both Lev and Yaku.
