Fling Poly is the poly ship between Ramuda Amemura, Gentaro Yumeno, and Dice Arisugawa from the Hypnosis Mic fandom.
Canon[]
Ramuda, Gentaro, and Dice are teammates who make up the rap group Fling Posse which represents the Shibuya Division. Ramuda goes by easy R, Gentaro goes by Phantom, and Dice by Dead or Alive. Their group is generally revered, as they’ve amassed many foes and fans alike. The three are determined to win the Division Rap Battles and show the world their talent, although unlike many other groups, Fling Posse had no preexisting bonds or knowledge of each other. Unlike Matenro, held together by codependency and a built relationship, Fling Posse is in fact held by a shared nihilistic value. However, that didn’t stop from the three from understanding and caring for each other immediately. Ramuda would frequently buy dinner for the group and they would eat out, but their relationship never reached a full break until Ramuda was ordered to be disposed of.
Ramuda wore a fake facade in front of Gentaro and Dice, playing a fool and a childish, clingy character to avoid suspicions and avoid a deep friendship. However, even though he viewed Fling Posse as simply a mission, he began to deeply envy Bad Ass Temple and other groups while witnessing their true brotherhood and bonds, as he would prepare himself to die and leave Gentaro and Dice at any given moment. Every time Ichijiku spared him, he would only fall into misery realizing his life had worth, and that he’d spend more and more time with his teammates. Ramuda eventually came to a breakthrough that he truly wanted their friendship, but he was angered at how no matter what it would never work out. While Ramuda was dying, he started crying as he realized now Fling Posse mattered to him, and was for once open to share about his past as a clone after Gentaro and Dice promised they cared about him.
Even with all their conflicts, Gentaro and Dice made it their main mission to save Ramuda no matter the cost. Dice would reunite with Otome in order to increase Ramuda’s lifespan, and Gentaro would play an idiot to cheer up the two. Ramuda’s cynical attitude would show more with Gentaro and Dice, as he repeated over and over that it’d be impossible for him to live any longer. However, Gentaro and Dice were resolute, going through hell and back to find a solution to Ramuda’s lifespan, never failing in giving up. Ramuda had in fact found his real self with Gentaro and Dice, willing to die with them as long as they could put up a fight.
FP & M manga[]
After the Dirty Dawg’s disbandment, Ramuda was tasked by the Party of Words to create a group made up by himself, Gentaro, and Dice. Ramuda named their group “Fling Posse” as he expected their group to be short-termed, like a fling.
At first, Ramuda only viewed Dice and Gentaro as pawns, using his faked cutesy persona and only showing a little of his true self to Gentaro, who suspected Ramuda of having a deeper motive behind Fling Posse’s formation. Generally, Ramuda would join Gentaro in ruthlessly teasing Dice to drive him mad, and despite their differences the three got along fairly. They would often eat out and train together whenever was possible and backed each other up in battles they participated in.

Fling Posse’s more comedic moments
Ramuda often jumps on the two and childishly hugs them saying, “I love you!” Gentaro is more tolerant of Ramuda’s behavior, while Dice is aggravated and tries to shoo him off. Gentaro often does the same but more taunting. Dice is easily annoyed by the two’s antics and plays the straight man in the midst of their group, but he appreciates their bond and trusts in his teammates greatly. As they’re one of the main groups in the franchise, Fling Posse has many small scale interactions throughout and their teamwork is the main aspect of their arc, with Dice being the more rough-and-tough of their trio while Ramuda leads them to victory.

Ramuda’s realization in the first Division Rap Battle
Although Fling Posse’s overall dynamic is depicted as comedic and silly, this is from Ramuda’s faked persona. Ramuda is darker and less optimistic than his teammates despite his polar opposite facade, notably taking it seriously when Gentaro’s suggested to sell Dice’s organs. Eventually, Ramuda had started to feel more emotion towards his teammates, occasionally envying groups made from a genuine want of friendship and care and realizing what he truly wanted. Despite his initial carelessness towards his teammates, Ramuda had contemplated whether he should tell Gentaro and Dice about his shortened lifespan.

Ramuda’s goodbye

Ramuda realizes he wants their friendship
After expecting to be killed off, he left Gentaro and Dice with a genuine smile and a deep-rooted regret in his heart. Even then, unaware, Dice and Gentaro’s genuine care from Ramuda was what stopped him from obeying Ichijiku’s orders. With their words, Ramuda was able to fight Jakurai with pure and competitive spirits and found it in his heart to follow the path he wanted. Ramuda is seen smiling genuinely a few times around Gentaro and Dice, but he tends to push them away and decline their friendship.
Generally, all three of the Fling Posse share a similarly unhappy and vague background, depicted as birds of a feather. They would go on to train and battle alongside each other in various Division Rap Battles and small tasks alike, seen as an odd trio of misfits, considering their unique traits and different styles. Many have noted that Ramuda seems more genuine around Fling Posse, and Gentaro initially sees through Ramuda’s absentminded lies, much to his shock.
Gentaro and Dice generally display their worry and suspicions towards Ramuda but care for him greatly. Throughout the course of FP M+ manga, Ramuda continually displays his sudden change in attitude, not wanting to die yet for the sake of Gentaro and Dice. Nevertheless, the three have a mutual understanding of each other from Gentaro’s strong-willed ideals as Gentaro and Dice saw through Ramuda and began to deeply understand his grief and loss of identity.
FP & M+ manga[]
With the FP M+ manga, trust became a reoccurring theme in Fling Posse’s friendship as the three were in agreement they’d give their lives for one another.
No matter the situation, Gentaro trusts Ramuda and Dice’s words and does as they say without questioning, believing their will and determination.
As Ramuda finds himself vomiting blood and losing his life, he screams at Dice to bring him his candy, and the latter refuses, indignant and trying to call an ambulance. Gentaro goes to get Ramuda’s candy without a doubt and hands it to him, saving his life.
Ramuda finds himself dying, Gentaro and Dice start to worry and grow anxious over his state, with Gentaro growing brash and impulsive and Dice watering down his carefree attitude. Ramuda begins to cry and beg Ichijiku to give him more life, unsure why he’s so suddenly afraid to die.
Ramuda finds his friendship with his teammates the only reason he wants to live, as he contacts Ichijiku and begs for a second chance at life.

Ramuda unsure why he cares so much about Gentaro and Dice
After a failed attempt, Ramuda keels over, unsure why he cares so much about Gentaro and Dice. He tells himself repeatedly that the team was only made by the orders from Ichijiku and that he had no feelings towards his teammates, remembering all his fallen brotherhood with the Dirty Dawg and unsure why he has a hope of Fling Posse working out. Ramuda begins to sob, thinking over Gentaro and Dice and telling himself no matter what, they’ll never be real.
Gentaro and Dice come to the rescue before Ramuda is finished off by his clones, unwavering in their determination as they fight for Ramuda’s sake. As the battle progresses, Ramuda is anguished realizing his friends may die on his behalf as his clones remain unwavering, and hell breaks loose as Gentaro and Dice are incapacitated on the ground. However, Ramuda screams that he won’t let them hurt his friends. After a fierce battle of pure emotion and rage, Ramuda finds it in himself to tell his teammates the truth behind his existence.
Ramuda gloomily tells them he has not long left, but Gentaro explains he believes in miracles, and that he was faith in Ramuda’s recovery. Dice adds onto this and begins to roll a dice, saying if the die is even then Ramuda will be saved. The die ends up on odd, and Dice angrily flips the die to be even, and Ramuda comments that Dice just moved the die himself. But to his surprise, Dice says that he learned from the best—Ramuda remembers how he moved the dice himself in order to get Dice to join his team, and Dice explains, “Heh! I just did exactly the same as you did back then! Because of you moving the dice, I'm in this team and I ain't regret a single thing about it! So, you just shut up and trust the even I rolled!”
Gentaro and Dice agree to stake their lives for Ramuda, unfaltering and resolute. For the rest of their journey, Gentaro and Dice find ways to save Ramuda, contacting illegal information sellers and reuniting lost bonds for Ramuda’s sake. Ramuda had found himself to be heartbroken and breaking his facade for the first time, nihilistic and repeating how he’ll die eventually. Dice refutes all of these statements and continually tells Ramuda they’ll get through this as a posse, and Gentaro agrees fervently while showing a more authentic and honest emotion.
During the 2nd DRB, Ramuda finds himself swollen in a depression of grief and disbelief, doubting that they’ll be able to win this dreary state. However, Ramuda slowly shows a new optimistic side to himself as he tries to lift up their spirits and trust it won’t end badly. Gentaro and Dice frequently check up on Ramuda to make sure he’s alright, and Dice manages to call off the killing on Ramuda by reuniting with his mother Otome.
From then on, the group would focus on winning the DRB, but moreover finding a cure for Ramuda as their main goal. They’d go on to open Fling Posse Incl and work hard to enjoy their time as they could.
Quotes[]
- Dice – “At a time like this, don’t even think about the hard stuff. Just go for it. And then your real strength will come out, right?”
- Gentaro – “This is your team creation, Ramuda. As long as you devote everything you have to your own battle, we will have no complaints, no matter the end result. Therefore act so as you will not regret it.”
- — Dice and Gentaro’s words of encouragement towards Ramuda
Fanon[]
This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.
Fling Poly is mainly shipped for Ramuda’s newfound mutual care for both Gentaro and Dice, though the pairing is not as popular romantically, since most fans prefer Fling Posse’s friendship instead. Generally, their trio and development overtime tend to be the most popular due to Ramuda’s character arc in the series. Though fans tend to ship GenDice, RamuDice, or RamuGen separately, Ramuda’s genuine emotions towards Gentaro and Dice was a contributing factor to Fling Poly’s popularity.
