Canon[]
Across the Spider-Verse (2023)[]
On his very first day at Spider-Society Headquarters (Earth 928), Miles bumps into Margo Kess aka Spiderbyte of Earth 22191. Just seconds before they meet, Miles learns his crush: Gwen and Hobie Brown have been on over a dozen missions together, resulting in him getting mildly jealous of their closeness. He makes an exasperated gesture and accidentally bumps into Margo. Miles immediately apologizes, but has to stop and do a double take when he sees her for the first time. Just like that, his jealousy is completely forgotten. The two spider-resonate with each other and she is the only Spider-Society member Miles has linked with during his time at Headquarters.

Margo informs Miles that they are all, in fact Spiderman
Even as the spider-sense dies down, Miles and Margo are still entranced by the other and Miles subconsciously introduces himself as "Spider-Man". Margo takes that moment to crack a lighthearted yet sarcastic joke about how they all (meaning the members of the society) are Spider-beings.
Because Miguel is awaiting them, Gwen suggests to Miles that they should keep on moving, but his attention is still on Margo who'd just extended her internal skeleton- that also happens to glow- to get herself to the other side of the room. Miles realizes then that she is different from the rest of them and inquires about her being? Margo informs him that she is a virtual avatar and that her physical body is in her home dimension. To give him a better understanding, Margo's avatar turns into a portal like projection of her physical self who is at home, in her gaming chair eating a bag of Fritos. Her parents could be heard arguing through the walls and Miles can see that her home life is not idea. Margo ends the projection, stating that life at the Spider-Society was better, to which Miles was able to empathize with.
With his focus still on Margo, Miles sees her begin to operate what is later revealed as the "Go Home Machine" . Enraptured, he asks what it does and Margo explains that it detects whatever dimension an anomaly's DNA is from and sends them back. Miles and Margo stand beside each other and watch as the mechanical spider weaves a light web around Rhino-E67 and it disappears with a flash of light. Once again, Gwen tries to keep the group moving, but Miles focuses his attention back onto Margo. He asks with much hope, if he'll see her around. Before Margo could answer, Gwen thwips Miles' back and pulls him away. As she watches him depart, Margo wishes him luck. Miles-who is still looking at her as he is dragged away- bids her a final farewell. Spiderbyte is shown to be smiling fondly after this interaction.

Margo gives Miles the chance to escape
After the violent chase, an invisible Miles makes his way back to Headquarters, more specifically 'The Go Home Machine Room'. In the area is Margo who did not participate in hunting Miles down. Instead, she is seen to be using her downtime to try out different virtual hairstyles for her avatar. It is only when she hears mysterious sounds does she become alert. Spiderbyte uses her visor to toggle view infrared and thermal, but camouflaged Miles is careful to stay out of her line of sight. Soon enough, he activates the machine and Margo is notified. She begins to panic and attempt to resolve the issue, unaware that Miles is behind the machine mysteriously starting. He gets to the platform and the machine begins to scan his DNA as Margo and LYLA tinker with the controls. Margo looks back at the machine that is building a forcefield, this time she sees Miles at the center. It's not long before Miguel bursts into the room on all fours and commands Margo to stop the machine in that instant. Frantic, Margo attempts to follow orders. She watches as Miguel lunges at the machine and Miles drops his camouflage. Her boss is unhinged as he uses his talons to pry open the forcefield around Miles. Margo and everyone else in the room is shocked by Miguel's feral behavior, afraid of what might happen if he does apprehend Miles. Margo was able to start a system reboot, but she assessed the severity of the situation. Miles pries his eyes away from Miguel who is baring fangs and makes eye contact with Margo, his expression is pleading. They hold each other's gaze and Margo is faced with the choice of following Miguel's orders in stopping the machine or allowing the anomaly to escape. It takes Margo less than a few seconds to make her decision as we see her lower her hand from the console and give Miles an affirming nod. In turn, the horror melts away from his face only to be replaced by a look of relief and gratitude. Miles smiles at her once more before pulling down his mask as he is transported away.
Fanon[]
The short interaction between Miles and Margo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had many fans wondering if Spiderbyte is a potential love interest for Miles Morales, others argued that she was merely a jealousy plot device; similarly to Hobie Brown. However, the ship began to sail via TikTok with many users making visual edits of the pair, showcasing the romantic tension between them. These edits became popular within the first week of the film's release, earning millions of interactions. Alongside the edits, fans have made memes and commentaries about this ship, intrigued and elated at the idea of Miles forming a romantic connection with this interesting, new Spidergirl.
The initial well reception of these two caused a lot of controversy as other members of the fandom simply didn't see the appeal. They claimed that there was no way Miles would canonically develop feelings for Margo as he was previously enamored with Gwen Stacy and there was too much build up between the two for his head to turn in the final film, despite everything that has happened. Ship-wars began to ensue across all social media platforms due to the passionate difference in opinions. Despite the vitriol and dismissal of this pairing, a percentage of fans continue to ship Miles with Margo not caring whether it becomes canon or not.

There is a warmth between the two
There is still much to be discovered about Margo Kess, but ATSV gives the viewers glimpse of her capabilities, powers, and personality. With this information, some have come to the conclusion that Margo would be a wonderful potential love interest for Miles. They appear to be fascinated by the each other and there is seamless way about how they communicate. Fans also thought it noble of Margo to go against Miguel's orders to help Miles escape- essentially saving him from a dangerous situation. She is also seen to be a part of Gwen's rescue team, once again proving her fealty towards Miles despite only knowing him for a short amount of time. Their first interaction toys with the concept of "love at first sight", a trope that hasn't been used in a while. Still, it is nicely portrayed with the way they come to a complete standstill when they catch a glimpse of each other. Both parties seemed to be mesmerized. The way Miles was only able to fumble out "...I'm Spiderman..." as a greeting- as if they weren't surrounded by Spider people- implies that he likely forgot his actual name, where he was in said moment, and also wanted to impress her. It is speculated that Miles and Margo will become closer in the next film as they have a high affinity with each other and unlike certain members of the team, Margo hasn't betrayed his trust. Overall, members of the fandom believe these two have great potential and are warmed by the wholesomeness associated with this ship.
