FlutterDash is the femslash ship between Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash from the My Little Pony fandom.

Canon

When Meeting Twilight Sparkle

This Pairing is based on the Pegasi of the Mane Six. With Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, the two share the closest bond when they were fillies. Even if they are opposite to each other, they clicked well. When Twilight met Fluttershy, she was the most quiet and timid pony out of the Mane 5. She was scared and softly said her name, until she met Spike who is a baby dragon. When Twilight met Rainbow Dash, she appeared to be very laid back and Twilight underestimated her by clearing the clouds fast in ten seconds flat.

Season 1

Rainbow Dash assisted Fluttershy on the cliff as she was afraid of heights and forgot to jump. When she was confronting the dragon, Fluttershy angrily and assertively asks him why he was fighting other five. The dragon was upset as he said that Rainbow Dash kicked him and he cried. In the 'Winter Wrap Up' episode, Fluttershy showed concern for the animals as they are just about to wake up from hibernation and she was afraid that the snow will melt sooner, which may cause a flood. In 'The Sonic Rainboom' episode and 'The Cutie Mark Chronicles', it appears that Rainbow Dash was coaching Fluttershy in cheering for the Best Young Flyer competition.

In the past, Fluttershy was bullied by three colts and Rainbow Dash defended her in Cloudsdale. From that day on they befriended each other as Rainbow Dash accepted the challenge for a race and created a Sonic Rainboom. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash was rescuing Rarity from a wing malfunction as she was falling and with great speed. Rainbow Dash catches her and Fluttershy cheers loudly, which means Rainbow Dash could hear her from afar. Fluttershy found her calling to be with the animals of the land as she falls from the sky and saw the sonic Rainboom achieved by Rainbow Dash as they both received their cutie mark at the same time as she told her story to the Cutie Mark Crusaders. In the 'Party at One' episode, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were seen flying together to avoid Pinkie Pie for her second party. They both made up a story about a bear named Harry who needs house-sitting in the big cave as Harry is 'Collecting seashells' and 'playing beach volleyball'. To make their story consistent, they both listened to each other and accidentally said 'collecting volleyball' and 'playing seashells'.

Season 2

In the 'Return to Harmony 2', Fluttershy confronts the hypnotised Rainbow Dash to return as they were tested by Discord. Rainbow Dash refuses and flies away. Fluttershy catches her with a rope and the hot air balloon and brings her back on land. Twilight Sparkle reminded her that her Element of Harmony is Loyalty and turns back to normal. 'May the Best Pet Win' with the same title as the song, Rainbow Dash was left out of the Mane Six as she did not have a pet in a hangout. Fluttershy was willing to help and introduces various animals from land, sea and air, including Tank the tortoise. at first Rainbow Dash underestimated Tank because she was looking for a big animal that can fly like her with speed agility and guts. She challenged the flying animals to a race but Fluttershy on behalf of Tank suggested to allow Tank to participate.

'Secret of my Excess' Rainbow Dash hold Fluttershy as she was ready to rescue Spike and Rarity as they were about to fall into the river. They both held each side of a magenta cloth to catch them. In 'Hearth's Warming Eve' Rainbow Dash played Commander Hurricane and Fluttershy played as Private Pansy as they were in Canterlot.

In 'In Dragon Quest,' episode, Fluttershy was afraid of Dragons and both Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle encouraged her to tag along. She was afraid and stubbornly refuses to leave her house. As she is stops at the door Rainbow Dash pushes her and makes the point that she went to the Butterfly migration with her and it was time that she came along. Fluttershy freaked out and accidentally pushes Rainbow Dash back in. Fluttershy stomps on her and gallops out the window.

In 'Hurricane Fluttershy', Rainbow Dash assigns the pegasus at the Golden Oak Library to elevate water to Cloudsdale in order to produce clouds and make rain water. After the gathering, Fluttershy hides inside a tree and she was afraid of flying with everyone. She isolates herself at her home as Rainbow Dash asks her if she was joining the flight. She pretended to be ail but it did not fool Rainbow Dash as she pours a bucket of water on her and the make up faded away. Then Rainbow Dash sympathises with her and asks her what was wrong. Fluttershy recalls the classmates in Flight School used to tease her. Soon Rainbow Dash felt dejected from her refusal as she was about to leave, however Fluttershy said she will join but regretted shortly after. As she tested her Wind Power, Fluttershy was the slowest and immediately felt discouraged. Angel comforted Fluttershy and she decides to train harder. Upon her testing her improved speed, she decided not to join and standby. The First attempt was a failure but Rainbow Dash encouraged all the Pegasus ponies to try again. As the total wind power of the hurricane could not reach the maximum, Twilight Sparkle told Fluttershy to jump in, holding a goggle with her magic. Fluttershy jumps into the hurricane and join the flight with the other ponies including Rainbow Dash. Her anxiety returned but she quickly overcame the thoughts and gave it all she has. When she could not stop, Rainbow Dash caught her with a cloud and embraced her and a wing Hi-Five. Spitfire of the Wonderbolts commends Rainbow Dash and Rainbow Dash calls Fluttershy her "My Number One flyer".

In the 'MMMsytery on the Friendship Express,' Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were guilty of eating some of the cakes. "In a Canterlot Wedding", Fluttershy was surrounded by shape-shifting changeling Rainbow Dashes. Later Rainbow Dash who was pretending to be one the Changelings fought them all to save Fluttershy.

Season 3

In the 'Crystal Empire 2,' they both sparred as Rainbow Dash knocked Fluttershy out to the scene and secretly said that she will be more lenient to her, and yet has a reputation to keep. They fly with each other as Fluttershy is afraid of the stormy winds, she holds onto Rainbow Dash.

In the 'Magic Duel' episode, the Mane Five were separated from Twilight Sparkle as Trixie Lulamoon sought revenge on Twilight as a former classmate, Fluttershy was seen disguised as Rainbow Dash. In "Spike at Your Service", Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy hides and helps fake a Timberwolf attack to trick Spike that Applejack needs her help.

In 'Keep Calm and Flutter On', Rainbow Dash appears to be overprotective of Fluttershy in a mission to reform Discord. While harnessing confidence in Fluttershy with the difficult task, Rainbow Dash's concern for Fluttershy was tested until the point where Discord drove all the other friends away from a dinner gathering while he was using his Chaos Magic for hidden mischief. Rainbow Dash felt a rift from Fluttershy after her decision to dub him as a friend but she finally realises that Fluttershy was successful in reforming Discord.

In the episode of 'Games Ponies Play', both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash with the other ponies provided a tour for a game inspector around the Chrystal Empire palace. Unbeknownst to the other Mane Six, they got the wrong Ms Harshwhinny. In the 'Magical Mystery Cure', the cutie mark mix-up between Twilight's five friends occurred when she received an unfinished spell written by Star Swirl from the mail. Rainbow Dash received Fluttershy's cutie mark. As Twilight discovered the problem, Fluttershy's home was in disarray as the animals have put Rainbow Dash in a cauldron for a meal. So Twilight had to bring the cured Fluttershy to reclaim her cutie mark.

Season 4

In the 'Princess Twilight Sparkle' episode, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy sat together on the train back to Ponyville. During the attack of the Everfree forest, Rainbow Dash sped through to save Fluttershy when a thorn and thistle wrapped around her. In the 'Power Ponies' episode, Rainbow Dash as Zapp also rescued Fluttershy as Saddle Rager as she unleashed her lightning against the Mane-iac's henchman. Rainbow Dash asked Fluttershy that she's not even a tiny bit angry and she shook her head in response. When the Mane Six was released from the cage, Rainbow Dash as Zapp told her to "get mad" and Fluttershy said, "I'm trying." When Mane-iac flicked a tiny firefly, Fluttershy was furious and morphed into a giant monster to defeat Mane-iac.

In the 'Filli Vanilli' episode, Rainbow Dash and the other ponies were in awe of Fluttershy's vocals when she sang secretly with her animals. Upon finding out that Fluttershy was behind the voice of Big Mac with the other ponies, Rainbow Dash encouraged her and cheered her on. 'Ain't easy being Breezies', Fluttershy had asked Rainbow Dash to provide a breeze for the Breezies to lead them home. Throughout this episode, Rainbow Dash was supportive enough to ask Fluttershy whether she was ready to or provide the right amount of wind. In 'Testing Testing 123' Fluttershy help stopped Rainbow Dash and Twilight from arguing about studying as Rainbow Dash was about to take her Wonderbolts entrance exam, she then gathered all the animal to reenact the history on stage and on the ground when Rainbow Dash was learning her history.

'Trade Ya!' featured all the Mane Six visiting the Rainbow Falls to trade their goods while Twilight Sparkle is on and important business as the Princess to settle any potential trading conflicts. While Rarity and Applejack were finding things for each other, Twilight and Pinkie Pie were auctioning off Twilight's old books. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are finding items to trade for a First Edition, 'Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Statue' book while Fluttershy had plans to trade for her Bear Caller. When Rainbow Dash found the book, she offered a horse shoe at first but Teddie Safari refused to trade as she said she would like an Orthros. The Owner of the Orthros also refused the rusty horse shoe but wanted a new lamp. Then Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash went to the stall full of Discord lamps and offered the horse shoe again but the owner refused. However he wanted a Chicken Statue so both of them went to the stall with the Chicken Statue and wanted to trade for the horse shoe. Upon another refusal, the owner of the Chicken Statue wanted a chalice. Finally with success, Rainbow Dash could start trading off all the items from the chalice to be traded for the Chicken Statue. The Chicken Statue to be traded for a Discord lamp and the Discord Lamp for the Orthros. Finally when they got Orthros, but the fair was about to close and Rainbow Dash was anxious to trade off the Orthros for the Daring Do book.

As Rainbow Dash was eager to get to Teddie Safari, the crowd's hustle and bustle was making it hard for her so Fluttershy used her Bear Caller to deceive the crowd to make a clear path for them. Fluttershy lost her bear caller along the way when Rainbow Dash pulled the Orthros. By the time she reached Teddie Safari, Teddie Safari refused the trade unless she has her Orthros trained by Fluttershy. While Rainbow was blinded by her excitement she agreed and took the book with her. Then she realised she made a great mistake when Fluttershy and Teddie Safari left. By the time Rainbow Dash asked Twilight for help, she ran the trial with Teddie Safari and Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash said she made a mistake and she wouldn't want to trade a friend. Her touching speech impacted Teddie Safari to call the fair trade off and Rainbow Dash goes to Fluttershy to find another item to trade. Later, as they are on board the train back to Ponyville, Rainbow Dash traded the Orthros for a bird caller, for Fluttershy. Twilight gives her paperback copy of the 'Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Statue' to Rainbow Dash so that she could read the book with Fluttershy and she hugs her in the end.

In the 'Equestria Games', Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash represents Ponyville athletes as the games were held in the Crystal Empire. At the freezing archery event. one of the pony shot the arrow to a cloud and the massive frozen spiky cloud descends to the stadium. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash quickly tries to lift it until Spike blew his dragon breath with fire and melted the ice. During the closing ceremony, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy sat together to look at the silver medals they have proudly achieved for Ponyville.

Season 5

The Mane 6 visited a town with an ideology of social and political equality founded by Starlight Glimmer. Fluttershy initially loved the mannerisms of the ponies with equal signs on their flanks. However, there was something off about their radical conformity. When they were having a private discussion about the cutie marks and meeting with Sugar Belle, Fluttershy blamed Applejack for being sceptical like Rainbow Dash. When Fluttershy goes undercover to conform with Starlight Glimmer's equality of friendship, Rainbow Dash was supportive of Fluttershy and trusted her to collect intel about where the cutie marks were kept.

In 'Tanks for the Memories', Rainbow Dash was excited about winter and had planned the fun with Tank. However she realised Tank was slower and appears more tired. She asks Fluttershy about Tank's health and fortunately, he is healthy. Fluttershy revealed that Tank needs to hibernate. Rainbow Dash becomes skeptical bout Tank's hibernation and seek Spike who is dubbed a reptile expert. When Spike said he is a dragon and not the same family as Tank, Rainbow Dash was more annoyed with the situation. As she pushes the cloud, Tank showed more signs of tiredness when he was yawning and digging on the ground. Pinkie Pie then thought he was adorable when he hibernates. Rainbow Dash was enraged at Pinkie Pie upon mentioning the word 'hibernate' and her other friends were involved. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash goes to Cloudsdale in the scheme to stop the winter operation from the weather ponies in Ponyville. Soon she added leaves for the fall, smashed the ice, dried up the snow, cleared the clouds, radiate heat with the magnifying glass and redirected the ducks to keel fall, but the other pegasus had always fixed the problem. Then Rainbow Dash decided to stop winter from the source, which is Cloudsdale. She brings Tank to the factory to think of a way to jeopardise winter. So she started draining the water while Tank is tied on a lamp asleep. Then the factory had a huge accident making the situation more dire and winter came sooner. Rainbow Dash becomes very upset and stays in her room with Tank and the rest of her friends came to comfort her. She was dismissive at first by saying 'whatever' until Fluttershy abruptly says: "Rainbow Dash, your winter is going to be, petless!" Soon Rainbow Dash burst out crying, as she lets all her emotions out and she feels better. Fluttershy asks Rainbow Dash if she feels better and she says, "Uh huh". Fluttershy comforts her and cries with her until Rainbow Dash was ready to bid Tank a hibernation farewell.

Season 6

In the episode of 'Flutter Brutter', Rainbow Dash visits Fluttershy and Shy family's in Cloudsdale with Mr and Mrs Shy warming hosting the meal. Fluttershy's parents were hobbyists as Mr Shy worked in weather factory and is currently retired. Mrs Shy is a Gardener. Later it was revealed that Fluttershy has a little brother named Zephyr Breeze who is studying hair styling and has decided to live back at the Shy's residents again. Although he has a crush on Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Dash showed outward annoyance and nonchalance towards him by pushing him off the chair. Zephyr Breeze began rearranging his parent's decorations as well as destroying the parent's hard work in weather collection and the gardening. Both Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy began to question his motive and challenged him to find a place. Eventually he chose to live with Fluttershy and they found the route to his problem. Rainbow Dash helps Fluttershy clean her place by sweeping and keeping things tidy. Zephyr Breeze is dependent on others and always let others do the work for him after a series of task were appointed to him by the Mane 6. The assumption that he was lazy led him to leave Fluttershy's house and strayed into the forest. With Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's encouragement, Zephyr Breeze tried to study again and eventually graduated from his styling course.

Season 9

Rainbow Dash in her catchup with Fluttershy found something unusual as Fluttershy showed a Daring Do series to be discontinued. So Rainbow Dash instigated the problem and found out that Dr. Caballeron was behind A.K Yearling's false autobiography. When Fluttershy empathised with the Arch Nemesis, both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash was able to build bridges with Daring Do, Dr. Caballeron and Ahuizotl. Rainbow Dash assists Fluttershy in flying in breaking into the Canterlot castle when Twilight Sparkle wanted to win the Sibling Supreme Crown contest. In the last episode, Rainbow Dash catches Fluttershy when Cozy Glow attacked Fluttershy. After the defeat of the main antagonists, Rainbow Dash sits next to Fluttershy and proudly said, "The Beginning of an even more awesome era", while they ate donuts together.

Equestria Girls: The Movie

During the prom night, Princess Twilight Sparkle was announced the winner of princess title and Rainbow Dash hugged Fluttershy. After Spike was kidnapped by Sunset Shimmer, the crown was passed about to prevent Sunset Shimmer from taking it from Spike to Rainbow Dash and Rainbow Dash passed it the crown to Fluttershy.

Rainbow Rocks

Rainbow Dash founded her band named The Rainboom but insisted on singing her own song, "Awesome as I Wanna Be" which left Fluttershy unhappy as she had written her own song. Later, when the mane seven were trapped, they all quarrelled but later Sunset Shimmer help resolve the problem. When Fluttershy expressed that Rainbow Dash never sang her song, Rainbow Dash proudly suggested they used her song for the battle against The Dazzlings.

Rollercoaster of Friendship

Human Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy link arms as they split up at the new theme park in Equestria Land. They both were looking at the map of Rollercoaster as Rainbow Dash wanted to help Fluttershy conquer her fears. Eventually Rainbow Dash advanced Fluttershy to get on the tallest Rollercoaster and got scared herself as she screams for the ride to be stopped. After Vignette Valencia first trapped Fluttershy in a portal, Rainbow Dash was approached by Applejack to see if she has seen Fluttershy. When she said she has not seen her since she last saw her from her first ride, which she still owes her another ride. At the end of the specials, Rainbow Dash helped Fluttershy open her eyes on a Ferris Wheel. This special was RariJack, FlutterDash and SciSet centred as intended.

Aww... Baby Turtles

While Rarity and Fluttershy were sunbathing and Applejack and Rainbow Dash were playing volleyball, Fluttershy heard sea turtles crying. Rainbow Dash offers help to Fluttershy when she heard baby turtles crying. Even though Tank was a tortoise, Fluttershy approved. At first Rainbow Dash offered to take them but Fluttershy said they need to remember their trail to come back for their next season. Instead they all cleared the path of sand castles, ship wrecks and crabs. Tank successfully led them to the ocean and were considered the baby turtles mother.

Spring Breakdown

As the Rainbooms were on the boat for their Spring Break, Rainbow Dash was a little too obsessed with fighting evil Equestrian Magic and wanted to play super heroes with her friends. She went to Fluttershy in the petting farm and took her away from a litter of rabbits Fluttershy was talking to and pulled her away. Rainbow Dash then frightened the animals away as she accused the rabbits to be evil because they eat 'evil carrots'. After returning from their visit to Princess Twilight Sparkle, with Sci-Twilight and Sunset Shimmer, Rainbow Dash sped through the boat to rescue the rabbits for Fluttershy.

Sunset's Backstage Pass

Both Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy chose to hangout with Rarity and Applejack. While Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer and occasionally Sci-Twilight Sparkle hang out together. Towards the end, Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer sang with Kiwi and Supernova who were Post Crush. Then we see Rainbow Dash escorting Fluttershy in the crowd to see the performance and dancing together.

Holiday Unwrapped

Rainbow Dash arrived late at the Mall to meet her friends and suddenly realised that their hangout was about Secret Santa, which she forgot to give Fluttershy her present. She realised she didn't check her text messages for this upcoming event and quickly excused herself to find a last minute shopping. As Rainbow Dash could not find a store that has a queue, however she finds Zephyr Breeze working in a gift shop and lets her jump the queue. Rainbow Dash did not like Zephyr Breeze flirting with her, however she held back in her snide bantering with Zephyr as he is Fluttershy's little brother. Rainbow Dash mutters to herself, "No... you gotta be nice, only because you love Fluttershy!" Eventually she finds a perfect a pink bunny, Instant Camera recommended by Zephyr. When Rainbow Dash returned to the group with a messy wrapped present. When Fluttershy reveals that she has received an identical camera from Zephyr, Rainbow Dash was irritated with Zephyr Breeze. Fluttershy then revealed that she did need another camera for multi-angle shots. Fluttershy rejoiced to see the camera and hugged Rainbow Dash in return. During the Cornucopia Photoshoot, Rainbow Dash was running down the school hall and she tripped on her shoulder bag but Fluttershy helped Rainbow Dash to get up.

Pony Life

The first season of Pony Life was released in June 21, 2020. With the same voice actresses, Ashleigh Ball as Rainbow Dash and Andrea Libman as Fluttershy from G4, Flutterdash as a ship was hinted in the new series. With new characters, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy embarks on a new magical world of Equestria. Their closeness is often relatable in the G4 series and Rainbow Dash adores her cuteness and faints. They both joke a lot about the side effects of the magical potion. At times they are running, dancing and laughing at the beach together.

There is a standalone episode named after the ship, 'Flutterdash' as the episode. As this series is a semi-successor of G4, it centres at a sporting event.

Fanon

FlutterDash is a common pairing that is ship in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and Pony Life. FlutterDash is a compelling pairing with the softly spoken shy, Fluttershy and the active and bold Rainbow Dash training Fluttershy to be more assertive, which concludes that opposites attract. At times Fluttershy would assist Rainbow Dash with animals and flying and they hangout most of the time. Rarijack, Twilight and FlutterDash are often paired hand in hand, hence it is dubbed as one true pairing. Both Friendship of Magic and Equestria Girls illustrated the close bond in each of the characters, which means the Pony counterparts and the human counterparts display intimacy the same way.
