Frickel is the slash ship between Fries and Nickel from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.

Canon[]

Battle for Dream Island Again[]

Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know[]

Nickel and Fries compete for the first time in a season, they both go to Team No-Name (refered by Gelatin as “The Stronger Team”).

Get Digging[]

Fries told Nickel to dig for ingredients: “Get digging, Nickel! The ingredients are probably underground”. Fries gave Nickel an order and Nickel simultaneously obeyed him.

Catch These Hands[]

After Nickel and Fries are crushed to death by the trash compactors, they appear in hell, both confused. Nickel asks Pencil if she knows where he, Fries, and the others are, but she doesn’t know.

Taste the Sweetness[]

Nickel sticks an ice cream poster on Fries’ old corpse. It’s somewhat morbid, but it shows that Nickel remembers even silly things about Fries.

Lots of Mud[]

Fries and his multiple clones laughs at the Beautiful Face Devotion Institute, which Nickel is part of, at this time they turned to friendly rivals. When Fries returns and asks what he missed, Nickel tells him Spongy was eliminated and that the teams are back.

Insectophobe’s Nightmare 4[]

Tennis Ball shows Fries a photo of him (Fries) with Jack Frew. Nickel immediately twists it into a pun, saying “Wait, is that...Jack and Jelly Fries?”. Fries actually laughs and tells Nickel to go tell the emperor, one of the rare times they share a genuine joke. Later, when Fries fights Bomby, Nickel stands between them, untouched, as if neither side wants to involve him.

Well, Look Who It Is![]

Nickel hesitates at a loop‑de‑loop, saying it looks scary. Fries encourages him to go for it and shows how to do it, then Fries’ fries fall at the top, he rushes to catch them, and Nickel compliments him for the quick save.

PointyPointyPointy♫[]

At the elimination ceremony, the bugs label the bottom four as "repulsive dislike magnets," which bothers Fries, who points out the irony of being called repulsive. Nickel, by contrast, says he wouldn’t describe their hosts as repulsive. Bomby and Fries arrive on Dora’s island. Nickel asks Fries about Bomby, and Fries explains that Bomby is having a sugar crash. At Puffball's island, Tennis Ball warns Fries and Bomby not to kill him again, but instead Nickel ends up being the one who dies. Fries seems unmoved by Nickel's death and returns to competing.

Spore Day[]

At the start, Nickel and Tennis Ball team up with Fries, showing they wanted to stick together before a twist splits them apart. Later, Nickel tries to steal Fries’ shrink ray but Fries refuses it, making Nickel end up with a square hole in his face. Fries then tries to use Nickel as a shield, but the hole lets the ray pass through, backfiring on both of them. At the end of the challenge, Nickel is poisoned when all of the Hearts (including Fries) throw several lead protons at him. As a result, he is put up for elimination.

Respect to the Wicked[]

Nickel mourns losing his square hole. Fries pokes his face to “fix” it, creating a triangular hole instead. Nickel bites Fries’ arm in anger. Nickel chooses a small chunk that fell from his face, expressing his hope that it never gets lost. Fries, surprised, asks why that’s Nickel’s most prized possession. Nickel replies that it’s all he has left. Nickel then turns to Fries and asks what his trinket is. Fries casually chooses a balloon, much to Nickel’s surprise.

Later, Nickel is seen relaxing on top of the FreeSmart SuperVan. When he spots Fries’ balloon, he leaps from the moving van and soars toward it, attempting to grab it. However, he misses and plummets to the ground. Nickel becomes obsessed, chasing the balloon through storms and eventually harnessing its power to shock Fries to death just as Fries is about to tag Nickel’s chunk.

Seasonal Shift[]

At the start of the challenge, Book mentions being the sole representative of FreeSmart and reflects that she feels furthest from her original appearance compared to the other contestants. Nickel, however, steps in skeptically, asking if she’s certain about that before redirecting attention to Fries, who had just been splattered to death moments earlier. When Nickel and Tennis Ball are sent forward in time by the Yoylite, Fries bluntly says, “Finally, those two are gone!”, showing his relief at being rid of them.

Airplanes in the Night Sky[]

Fries hopes Nickel will be safe. When Nickel is eliminated, Fries bangs the floor in anger. It’s later revealed his frustration is partly because Needle is still in the game, but his reaction suggests Nickel’s exit affected him as well.

🥚[]

Nickel and the rest of the WTFers break into tears (except Rocky, who throws up in distress) when they discover the truth about Tennis Ball's plan. At that moment, Fries, Gelatin, Ice Cube, Pencil, and Ruby arrive, with Fries announcing his recent elimination and that he now gets to hang out with the rest of them. However, upon seeing the emotional wreckage and chaos left behind, he turns around and leaves without another word.

dnalsI maerD roF elttaB (IDFB)[]

Welcome Back[]

Nickel greets Fries and Pin with a cheerful “Hey guys.” It’s a simple moment, but it shows Nickel doesn’t hold grudges from any of them.

Battle for BFDI[]

Why Would You Do This on a Swingset[]

Nickel praises Fries’ idea of swinging their team fifty times, calling it “so good.” For once, Nickel’s sarcasm is gone, he’s genuinely impressed.

The Power of Two[]

Fishes and Dishes[]

Fries tells Puffball to attack Nickel’s team, and Puffball bites Nickel. Later, Fries orders Puffball to attack again, and Nickel gets bitten a second time.

Fanon[]

Frickel is a rarepair in the fandom, despite having that many interactions, which origins begin at the BFDIA revival, especially at Nickel's elimination in “Airplanes in The Night Sky”, when Fries did a dramatic reaction at Nickel's elimination. Frickel's few fans loved the mix of Nickel’s sarcasm and Fries’ dry humor, making them more “shippable”(?). The answer to the ship's unpopularity is caused by they no interacting much after Nickel's elimination in BFDIA and the overshadow caused by more popular ships. Another factor contributing to its obscurity is that the pairing only began to gain relevance after BFDIA's revival. Their moments together were minor, and because of larger story arcs and character relationships, Frickel was often pushed aside in favor of ships with more screen time.

The ship's main rivals are Puffries (Puffball x Fries), Gelafries (Gelatin x Fries) Tenickel (Tennis Ball x Nickel), Bookel (Book x Nickel), Bomfries (Bomby x Fries) and Bombickel (Bomby x Nickel), because they are way more popular than 'Frickel'.
