Fruby is the het ship between Fries and Ruby from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Fries and Ruby only have one canonical interaction.
Ruby is jumping on a piece of a jawbreaker. Fries mistakes it for a popper, and tell her to stop playing with it. Ruby is confused, and Fries says it's the symbol of a painful moment for everyone. Ruby tells Fries that it was a jawbreaker piece they had lying around. Fries begins to ask something, but Ruby puts a jawbreaker over his mouth. She says it looks perfect on him. After that, Frice continues to walk, but now with jawbreaker on him. Based on this, their relationship can be on good terms.
Fish and Chips[]
Fish and Chips is a non-canon short that greatly increased Fruby's popularity.
The short starts off with Ruby talking to Woody, however Woody gets eaten by a fish. Ruby asks Fries what happened. She then looks over at Anchor and Rusty Coin, and says they seem too happy, and wonders if they have anything to do with what happened. Fries tells her enough speculation and that he can read lips. He thinks Rusty Coin is saying "hats" a bunch of times. Ruby says Fries is bad at reading lips, but that she can read lips, only to get the same result. She then says that they're both bad at reading lips. Ruby wishes there was some way to know what they were talking about.
After Rusty Coin explains the situation, Ruby says that it looks like a job for "The Famous Fries and Ruby Duo".
The scene changes to the two of them in a boat. Ruby says "Let's find that fish, Fries!". Fries says they better get the journey started. 10 seconds later, Ruby says it's been so long. Fries tells her it's been 10 seconds and they should just get it over with. Fries ends up pulling Chompy/Snappy out of the lake. Ruby is about to jump into their mouth to save Woody, but Fries stops her. He says that should do it somewhere more private, in case Anchor and Rusty Coin want to hurt Chompy. Ruby says they probably just want a photo or something, and then suggest asking them.
Ruby tells Snappy that Anchor and Rusty want to kill them. Fries tells her that there's no time to stall and to start climbing Snappy. Ruby does so.
Fries hears Anchor and Rusty arguing, and says that their duo is really falling apart. Ruby tells him that there's no time to worry about that and that they gotta get Chompy's mouth open. Fries says they should plan a diversion and suggests an idea. Ruby says there's no time, and suggests something else. Fries says that would take longer. Ruby says that she didn't see him coming up with any ideas, and Fries tells her that he literally just said one. He then suggests asking Chompy herself. Ruby says that if Chompy is imaging a plan, she can't see or hear it. Fries sarcastically says that he was sure it would be really good. Ruby says to not worry since Snappy talking made her mouth open, and then she tells Fries to go distract the others, which he does.
When Fries returns, he says that he ended a multi-year friendship for their own gain. He then asks why Ruby wasn't done yet and tells her to pull out Woody. Ruby says that she has Ruby on his arm. Woody says something, and Fries asks what he said. Ruby tells Fries that there are other people and that Chompy has been eating people for days.
Fries tells Ruby to watch out and that Rusty was flying towards them but then asks why he was telling her this because she could hear him too.
After everyone is out of Snappy, Ruby says they should leave her alone and do something else. Fries agrees. The two, along with Rusty and Anchor, walk away while saying "hats" many times.
Fanon[]
Before the Fish and Chips short, Fruby wasn't very popular. This was due to their little interactions. But once the Fish and Chips short came out, Fruby instantly grew in popularity. It's not exactly popular, but it's not a rarepair either. It does have it's shippers though. It however is overshadowed by ships like Floweruby (Flower/Ruby) and Puffries (Fries/Puffball). Both of these ships decrease the popularity of Fruby.

Trivia[]
- They are both red.
- Fries is not entirely red however, as he also has some yellow. Ruby is entirely red, just with many different shades of red.
- They both can force objects dig: Fries did it in BFDIA 10, hypnotizing Bomby and Needle, and tried to do the same with Tennis Ball in BFDIA 16 (however, he did not succumb). Ruby in BFB 13 forced her entire remaining team (except Bubble) to take shovels and dig, despite the fact that the team members resisted a little, they did what Ruby said anyway.
- They both have (had) the ability to shine: Ruby is a gem by herself, and she has sometimes demonstrated her ability to glowing using a light source. Fries acquired this ability in BFDIA 16 when he ate radioactive mushrooms underground. Perhaps Fries will still use this ability in BFDIA 17 and beyond, since he was killed in the same episode by lightning, being under the influence of radioactivity, and then he recovered himself in the scene after the credits, left with radiation.
