Fruitcake is the slash ship between Cosmo and Sprout from the Dandy's World fandom.
Canon[]
The two toons are playable characters in Dandy's World. Their only interactions come from their voice-lines or other characters mentioning them. There are also video tapes of the two that play on TV's in various floors when playing the game. Both of them were added on the 14th of August, 2024, alongside some other characters. Cosmo is a regular toon while Sprout is a main character. They both have abilities that are used to heal other toons, Cosmo using his heart and Sprout using his tapes. In order to obtain Sprout, a player needs all the mastery quests on Cosmo completed. Cosmo is a mix of a Swiss Roll and a Cosmic Brownie while Sprout is a strawberry.
In one of the video tapes the two bake cookies with burning the oven in the process. They are shown to have made cookies of Astro. There is also a storyboard in which the two of them alongside Shelly appear. The storyboard seems to be a frame from episode 3 in Season 1, in which Shelly introduces Sprout to Cosmo. Sprout comes up Shelly and Cosmo, seemingly asking who is she talking to. She shows Cosmo to Sprout and then leaves the two of them alone, after which they greet each other.
In their first interaction. Cosmo asks Sprout if he is okay. Sprout responds with a question of his own and asks Cosmo to answer first. Sprout insists on asking "louder", and then both Toons cheerfully brush off the question, saying they are okay.
In their second interaction. Sprout asks Cosmo if he ever noticed the sign in the dining section that says "Delictable?". Cosmo notices the spelling mistake. He says it should be "Delectable?" instead of "Delictable?". There is a moment of silence, followed by an agreement that they will not correct the mistake. It is clear from their laughter that they are amused by the mistake.
There are also interactions with other toons where Cosmo or Sprout are mentioned when talking to one or the other. Shelly and Teagan both have interactions where they invite Sprout as he says he'll join them in their endeavours if only Cosmo joins as well. In another interaction with Shelly talking about hobbies and sewing, Sprout brings up Cosmo to say how he's teaching Boxten to bake. When talking to Rodger about hosting an interview, Sprout mentions to not ask Cosmo for an interview.

Fanon[]
Fruitcake is one of, if not the most popular ship in the fandom due to their nature of being best friends. People like their interactions and think they're cute, and also think they match each other well considering they're edible items. People also like to bring up how the two seemed to get close with each straight away after Shelly introduces Sprout to Cosmo. Due to their nature of being best friends, as well as matching quite often like with their trinkets or even their twisted forms, these were a few of the reasons as to why the two became shipped so quickly. Usually when playing the actual game, people like to roleplay the two and heal each other when needed. Another funny moment that happens right before a run starts is, if one of the players either chooses Sprout or Cosmo, there's usually another player that will switch to either of the characters in order to match the other person, be it for shipping reasons or otherwise.
A popular theory in the community is that the two were together right before they turned twisted. Since they have matching ichor patterns in their twisted forms, players have wondered as to why that is the case. In Cosmo's twisted description, it is stated that he became who he is now because he was separated from his best friend, referring to Sprout. This led the community to believe that the two were holding hands or each other right before they were separated and became their twisted versions, since Cosmo has ichor on his right arm and eye where Sprout doesn't have it. It became a popular headcanon in the community, and various fanworks have been done about this theory. People have also noticed that the noises Twisted Sprout makes in his idle animation sounds like he's saying Cosmo's name, as if he's searching for him.[1] This has also spawned various fanworks where Twisted Sprout tries to look for Cosmo or keeps Cosmo, who has yet to turn into a twisted, in protection.
There is a comic made by poilubsu on TikTok called "Whatever This Is", which gained quite a lot of traction in the fandom. The comic is about Sprout finding out Cosmo was doing a run and helping him out get back to the surface. A lot of people enjoyed it and liked to comment that it's very good as they got the characterisations for the characters right, as well as praising it for how fast the parts came out with good art. It got so popular people started doing fancontent of the comic such as animation memes or fanart, which resulted in more Fruitcake fanworks.
It is most commonly paired with other popular ships such as Moonflower, Shellvision or FossilCleaning, Angryhugs and TeaCase. Sometimes the two are shipped with Astro resulting in Moonberrycake, or with Boxten which makes Fruitcakebox. It's only real rival can be considered StrawberryCookie which, funnily enough, is the ship with Ginger who is Cosmo's cousin.

Trivia[]
- The ship name Fruitcake or Cakefruit comes from the toons associations with said objects. Sprout is a strawberry and Cosmo is a pastry resembling a Swiss Roll, a cake.
- The ship name might also be based on the real cake counterpart, Fruitcake, which is a cake made out of candied or dried out fruits.
- In order to obtain Sprout, his 3rd requirement is to complete all Mastery Quests on Cosmo.
- They are best friends.
- On Cosmo's information card, it states that he is often times seen with Sprout who is his best friend.
- In the description for the Twisted version of Cosmo, it states that he has been overcome by ichor after being separated from his best friend, clearly referring to Sprout.
