Fruity Four is the friendship between Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Robin Buckley and Eddie Munson from the Stranger Things fandom.

The Dive

Nancy, Eddie, Robin and Steve all get into the boat, much to the dismay of the kids. Robin yells that bedtime's at nine and that they miss them already as they head to the center of the lake. As they get closer to the center, Nancy tells them to slow down as the compass starts to go crazy. Steve starts taking off his clothes, and Nancy asks what he's doing. Steve says that someone's gotta go down to look, and unless the other three are as good at swimming as he is, he's going down. Eddie agrees with that as Steve takes off his shirt. Nancy stares at him and Robin notices Nancy's staring. Eddie hands Steve a flashlight and wishes him luck which Steve thanks him for. Eddie starts to light a cigarette, but Robin pulls it out of his mouth and calls it gross.

The relationship between the four started to be explored in the fandom due to their time in the upside down together. Some saw their chemistry and time in the upside down as the biggest highlight of season 4. Especially around the back half of the season. With the four being the closest to adults left to "babysit" the kids, it was ripe for fans to want to explore their relationship.

Many who like the four typically have romantic pairings within the ship itself. Most often having Robin and Nancy and Steve and Eddie as couples. This led to people joking that the groups' time together in the upside down was a double date. This is also where the name "fruity four" comes in. As Robin is canonically a lesbian, while many people started to headcanon Steve, Nancy and Eddie as queer. Some also ship the four romantically, but more in a polycule situation, rather than having them all date each other. The most popular combination is Robin dates Nancy, Nancy dates Steve, and Steve dates Eddie. Often they'll add in the ship Jargyle, Stonathan, Argylen, Jancy and Rockie to a possible polycule as well. As well as Hellcheer, Buckingham, Stargyle, Eddithan and Bancy occasionally.
