FukuMori is the slash ship between Yukichi Fukuzawa and Ougai Mori from the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom.

Canon[]

Fukuzawa and Mori have known each other for more than twelve years, first meeting the erstwhile underground doctor upon the instruction of Sōseki Natsume during the post-war era. Fukuzawa recognized Mori's bloodlust from their first encounter, commenting how atrocious he killed after Mori used his medical scalpels. Later on, the two grew to be at odds with each other, with Fukuzawa's seriousness and Mori's theatrics occasionally clashing. Nevertheless, in the 12 years that they rarely fought together, Fukuzawa and Mori always emerged victorious.

When Fukuzawa officially established the Agency, they soon parted ways and became apparent rivals by nature, as it is Agency protocol not to collude with the illegal-acting Mafia. Part of their alliance collapse is also rooted on Mori's treatment of Akiko Yosano by having her use her ability for his "Immortal Regiment" scheme that drove the 11-year-old Yosano to psychological distress; Fukuzawa firmly opposed Mori's heartless strategy and chose to end his partnership with the doctor.

Nonetheless, the two parties continue acting according to Natsume's Tripartite Framework, so Fukuzawa and Mori share a mutual understanding of providing protection to Yokohama especially against gifted opponents. As such, over time, Fukuzawa and Mori would occasionally strike alliances in extreme cases of necessary collaboration for the sake of their city. Furthermore, on a deeper level, Fukuzawa does not deny that he knows how Mori also loves Yokohama like him and will resort to anything to protect it, only differing by their means and methods.

Moreover, when utterly pressed and backed upon the corner, Fukuzawa accepts seeking Mori's assistance himself, especially if it concerns the well-being of his comrades. This subtle trust is established when Fukuzawa personally contacts Mori to have his mafioso help the Agency evade capture from the military police and later the Hunting Dogs when the Decay of the Angel frames the Agency. This collaboration soon extends until the latter stretch of the Decay's plan when a vampire outbreak spreads throughout the Mafia, with Mori this time seeing Fukuzawa's and the Agency's strategy to be of vital essence in defeating their mutual opponent.

During the Cannibalism Arc, Fukuzawa and Mori are attacked by a masked assassin delivering a flesh-eating disease which links them both together. The virus is revealed to only end when one of the parties die, causing a conflict between the Port Mafia and the Agency. During this, Fukuzawa advocates against the Agency assassinating Mori due to the belief that this would cause a conflict between not only the Agency and the Port Mafia, but throughout the city as a whole. Fukuzawa and Mori both go into hiding, both bedridden, as their respective organizations battle for each other's right to a leader. Fukuzawa and Mori eventually leave their respective hiding places to rendezvous in a mansion that only both of them know of. Two hours later, Mori soon arrives at the mansion with Fukuzawa awaiting him, recalling the "fateful land" and optimal location only they are aware of from their shared past 12 years ago. They have both decided to end the cannibal themselves through one of their deaths.

Mori activates Vita Sexualis and summons Elise, while Fukuzawa prepares for combat. Elise materializes a large syringe as her weapon and hammers it down towards Fukuzawa, who quickly evades it. She soon flings out various smaller syringes, all of which Fukuzawa quickly slices with his katana. Mori expects no less from the Silver Wolf, once the government's greatest swordsman assassin, and praises Fukuzawa's quick draw for not being able to even see his blade. Soon after, Fukuzawa is forced to muster his strength and cuts down Elise before she can attack again, causing her to vanish.

With Mori's apparent defeat, Fukuzawa declares the end of the Tripartite Framework. Mori warns Fukuzawa that the latter's death may put an end to the strife; his death, however, shall only yield to a bloodier bloodbath and revenge-driven warfare by the Mafia. With Fukuzawa horrified at such notion, Mori quickly hurls a scalpel to Fukuzawa's neck, leading the latter to collapse. Mori admits that he cannot win against Fukuzawa in physical combat, hence resorting to such verbal tricks to catch him off-guard. Fukuzawa wonders whether his loss has been destined, while Mori prepares to finish him off with his scalpel. However, in the midst of a calico cat, he gets interrupted by a tremor.

Fukuzawa and Mori find themselves in the rubble of the mansion after an implied explosion, with the cat transforming into Sōseki Natsume himself. The two are shocked to find their mentor who reprimands them for being quite bothersome disciples. Short after, the two leaders learn the location of the Rats in the House of the Dead's hideout and quickly rush over to find the man behind the cannibalism virus. Both organizations complain about the dangerous situation his actions put them in and the virus ability user cowardly apologizes to Fukuzawa and Mori, but the two leaders do not forgive the criminal and beat him up. They thus free themselves, Atsushi and Akutagawa from the virus's death sentence.

Fanon[]

FukuMori is one of the more popular ships in the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom, and the most popular ship for both Yukichi Fukuzawa and Ougai Mori. Most people shipped them for their rich history with one another, and for the sole fact it is the first generation of Double Black, making it a cornerstone sister ship of Soukoku and Shin Soukoku, the fandom’s most popular pairings. Mori and Fukuzawa being opposites and fated rivals like the other Double Black pairs was again another appeal. FukuMori does not have much competition — however, a lot of fans decided to drop FukuMori and ship the main rival pairing FukuFuku, though FukuMori is still well-known as moreover a side ship that is dubbed titles like “Boomer Soukoku.”
