Fuupei is the het ship between Junpei Iori and Fuuka Yamagishi from the Persona fandom.
Canon[]
Fuuka and Junpei are both students at Gekkoukan High School, in their second year. They are both members of SEES, and reside in Iwatodai Dormitory. They join SEES back to back, with Junpei joining roughly two months before Fuuka does.
Junpei and Fuuka first meet in Tartarus, when SEES travels inside to try and rescue Fuuka. Junpei, Akihiko Sanada, and Makoto Yuki are the ones to first find her. Junpei asks if Fuuka has been hurt by any monsters. She says she was able to avoid them, and the group are impressed by her powers.
Junpei believes that Fuuka is the most feminine member of their group, and thinks that the other girls should act more like her. He is shown on a number of occasions to be attracted to Fuuka. When the group vacations on Yukishima Island, Junpei is pleasantly surprised by what Fuuka looks like in her bathing suit. He compliments her, while blushing. Fuuka, embarrassed by Junpei's words, hides behind Yukari.
On January 8, Junpei and Makoto visit the roof of Gekkoukan High School. They discuss the upcoming battle with Nyx, but after a moment's pause Junpei can ask Makoto if he's dating Fuuka. Junpei blushes, and says that he doesn't mind. He tells Makoto that Fuuka is a great girl, and that he should treat Fuuka right.
In Persona 3 Reload, Fuuka hosts a study session with the other second years on October 9. She says that she can ask them for assistance on anything, as she was the one who came up with the idea for the session. Junpei seems excited to take her up on this offer,
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight[]
Junpei dreams about being a "star". Fuuka, as head of the Dance Cheer Team, is eager to support his ambitions. She tells Junpei that he looks cool when he dances, and asks if he ever gets nervous. He says that he was nervous, at first, but has since realized its okay to make mistakes. Fuuka says that she feels the same way when dancing.
Fanon[]
Fuupei is a rarepair in the Persona fandom. Although they are both members of SEES, they don't share very many one-on-one interactions in the games. Fuuka herself is often not shipped nearly as much as the other characters in the games, which likely contributes to the ship's lack of popularity.
Those who do ship Fuupei often cite the Opposites Attract trope as one of their reasons for doing so. Junpei is brash and bold, and known for speaking without thinking. Fuuka, on the other hand, is quite and reserved. Their differing personalities would balance each other out. Some are also attracted to their large height difference, with Junpei as one of the tallest characters in Persona 3, and Fuuka as the shortest. Due to some of his reactions to Fuuka in the game, there are a number of fans that believe he canonically has a crush on her.
There are currently over 10 works on AO3 for this pairing. Its biggest rival is Junpei's canon ship, Jundori.
