GaFou is the slash ship between Gaston and LeFou from the Beauty and the Beast fandom.

Canon

LeFou has been featured as Gaston's loyal, faithful stuge. From how he was always there to assist Gaston in what ever way he can. Like catching the birds Gaston shoots down, praising him for his skills and handsome looks and trying his best to give Gaston advice. Even though Gaston didn't give his little friend a chance to speak, after he told LeFou that he plans to marry Belle. Who is the oddest person in the village and wasn't sure if her beauty alone was enough for Gaston to marry. Never the less, LeFou was prepared to still do his part in helping Gaston to obtain Belle's hand in marriage. No matter how many times Gaston would hit LeFou for saying something his tall friend didn't or to make himself look good to others, along with giving LeFou tasks he didn't like or wants to do, he never left Gaston's side and always did what he orders him to do.

When Gaston was feeling down after Belle refused to marry him, LeFou got everyone to sing "Gaston" in order to make him feel better. As he helps Gaston to remember the good things about himself, as well as the traits that Gaston takes prides in. Along with LeFou making the tavern's men say that they would like to be more like Gaston. After LeFou called Maurice crazy from raving about a beast in a castle, his words gave Gaston an idea on how he can still make Belle his wife. He shares his plan with LeFou, along with allowing his friend to accompany him as they make the enragements. Gaston then tasks LeFou to inform him the moment Belle and her father return home. LeFou also joins Gaston's mob attack upon the Beast's castle.

In the 2017 remake of the Disney film, LeFou had a secret feelings for Gaston. While Gaston only saw him as a friend, and LeFou was okay with that. Even though LeFou doesn't like it when women flirt with Gaston, he still helps him to win Belle over. No matter how many times she turned Gaston down. During the remake's version of the "Gaston" song, Gaston thanks LeFou for cheering him up, along with LeFou placing himself in Gaston's arms. Knowing Gaston for a long has LeFou knowing how to calm his friend down, by making him think about to the war they fought and the widows Gaston could surround himself with. Unlike Gaston, LeFou is shown to have some good in him when Gaston wanted to leave Maurice to the mercy of the wolves. Gaston used their friendship to make LeFou see things his way and to side with him, after learning that Maurice has told everyone that Gaston had tried to kill him. LeFou had wanted to do the right thing, but his feelings for Gaston kept him from doing so. During the attack on the castle, LeFou had asked Gaston for his help after he was knocked down, but Gaston turned him down so LeFou won't slow him down in killing the Beast. This got LeFou to switch sides and to receive helpful advice from Mrs. Potts, who helps LeFou to see that Gaston doesn't deserve him. Realising that she was right, LeFou continues to aid the castle's enchanted servants in their fight with Gaston's mob.

Fanon

GaFou was originally seen as somewhat of a crackship, with fans picking up on the way that LeFou always did whatever Gaston asked even though Gaston treated him poorly. Some compared this to the relationship between Cruella and Jasper in Disney's 101 Dalmatians. However, the 2017 live action remake of Beauty and the Beast made GaFou semi-canon by confirming LeFou's romantic feelings for Gaston. This allowed for the ship to gain new supporters, although many still thought that LeFou could do better than Gaston. LeFou is also given a possible shiptease at the end of the film in the form of StanFou, which some have chosen to ship instead.

GaFou has over 300 works on AO3. It is Gaston's most popular ship, and LeFou's second most popular after his ship with Stanley. GaFou is most popular with fans of the 2017 remake.
