GakuGumi is the het ship between Kamui Gakupo and GUMI from the Vocaloid fandom.
Canon[]
Gakupo and GUMI are both characters from the voice synthesizer Vocaloid. Both of them were created by the same company, Internet Co., and they are also the first Vocaloids from it. They are also part of Internet Co.'s "-poid" series, alongside Ryuto. Both Gakupo and GUMI don't have an official personality or an official relationship. The relationship between the two depends on the song that they sing together.
Songs[]
There are not a lot of Gakupo and GUMI original songs, but there are some songs where they are related in some way. The most popular example of this is The Lunacy of Duke Venomania, where Gumi is part of Gakupo's harem. The song novels give us more details about Gakupo and GUMI's relationship on the song, revealing to us that Cherubim (Gakupo) and Gumina (Gumi) were childhood friends that met through Sateriasis, Cherubim's brother. Cherubim was in love with Gumina, but Gumina was enganged with Sateriasis, causing a great envy to grow in him. Before the wedding, Cherubim tried to confess his feelings to Gumina but she didn't respond clearly. Cherubim asked Gumina several times if she has the same feelings for him and she, being fed up with his stalking, responded him that she didn't liked him because of his ugly appearance. Cherubim, being jealous of his brother, reached the extreme because he got everything that he never did; fame, beauty and even the girl that he liked, motiving him to kill his family. After that, Cherubim made a pact with a demon, giving him the power to change his looks and to seduce women just looking by at them. Cherubim took advantage of his powers to seduce the girl that he always loved, as well as other women. One day, a man crossdressed as a woman and stabbed Cherubim in order to save his lover, so he lost all his powers. All women from Cherubim's harem run away after they regained consciousness, and before Gumina left the castle Cherubim wanted to express his feelings for her, but he died before he could.
Their most popular duet is Extinction Aspiration Disguise Species by EZFG. There's a popular parody of Gakupo and Luka's song Go Google it called Aniimo, that talks about Gakupo being an overprotecting brother to GUMI.
Nico Nico Cho Party[]
The Nico Nico Cho Parties are unnofficial Vocaloid music events. There are many moments where Gakupo has a crush on GUMI, while she rejects him several times. There's an scene where Gakupo seems to have a room full of GUMI posters and even a body-pillow of her. Even so, there is an scene with GUMI saving Gakupo and him thanking her with a gift, leaving them with a "happy end". There are also many scenes where GUMI hits Gakupo with a stick.
Fanon[]
GakuGumi started due the fact that they are both Vocaloids from Internet Co.. Even so, GakuGumi isn't very popular in general. They are often overshadowed by ships like GakuLuka, GakuKai and Gumiku. There are many fanarts of this duo, but not many fanfics, having only 15 romantic works on AO3, as well as 12 platonic works. Some people prefer to see Gakupo and GUMI as siblings as they are from the "Internet Co. Family", giving them the name of the "Poid Siblings".
The ship gained some recognition because of their moments in the Nico Nico Cho Parties, and many memes of their moments have been made. Other factor for the ships popularity was the popular Vocaloid youtuber Minnemi, who said that it was her favorite ship and made some headcanons of the ship, as well as a joke series where Ryoto is their child. Even people who don't ship them love the memes about this ship.

Trivia[]
- The Poid in their software names (Gackpoid and Megpoid) is a combination of the word "ppoi" (resembling) and the term "loid". so the names mean "Gackt like a Vocaloid" and "Megumi as a Vocaloid" respectly. Gackt and Megumi Nakajima are their voice providers.
