Season 1[]
First Meetings[]
In Season 1 Episode 3 "Aunt Ginger", Mandy Milkovich, a girl in Ian Gallagher's class comes up to Ian in the store in which he works (the Kash and Grab) and grabs Ian's ass, Ian thinks it's Kash, the owner of the store who he has secretly been hooking up with, but he looks down and sees Mandy. Mandy thanks Ian for coming to her rescue in history class, because he tripped a teacher who was being creepy with her, and Ian says it was no problem. Mandy waits until Ians shift is over and walks him home, they then watch a movie together and Ian is very uncomfortable, Mandy starts pushing herself onto Ian but when Ian pushes her off, Mandy goes running and crying out of the Gallagher house.
Mandy then accuses Ian of sexual assault because of this, and tells her brothers that Ian assaulted her, one of the brothers being Mickey Milkovich. Mickey is the same age as Lip Gallagher (roughly a year and a half older than Ian, making Mickey about 16.5-17 and Ian 15) and he begins to hunt Ian down for the supposed assault. Mickey and his brothers burst into the Kash and Grab and Mickey yells "IAN GALLAGHER, you messed with the wrong girl!", this is the first thing Mickey ever says on the show and also the first thing he ever says on screen to Ian. They begin to chase down Ian, Ian runs into the back of the store and Mickey says he knows what he did, Mickey then tells Kash "Tell fuckhead, this is not over". Later Mickey is waiting outside the Kash and Grab and asks Kash where Firecrotch is, referring to Ian. Ian tells Kash that he should have just done it with Mandy and that from now on he intends to be straight, Kash tells him it's not that simple, Ian says that Kash does it, referring to his wife and 2 kids, but Kash says that he didn't know what he was until after he got married.
Later, Mickey sees Karen and Lip walking and Mickey stops them, Lip asks Karen why he would do that and Karen says "Mickey probably just wants to ask me out again". Mickey then thanks Lip for writing him an English paper, and then tells him that Ian messed with Mandy, Lip, being the only person who knows Ian is gay says that it's highly unlikely. Mickey says that Mandy told them he assaulted her and Lip then says "Well, maybe Mandy is confusing Ian, with any of the other 400 dudes in the 10th grade she's already blown.". Mickey then begins to beat Lip down. Later Ian and Lip talk and Lip tells Ian he will eventually have to take a beating for this. The next morning, Ian makes a plan to take out Mickey and his brothers with the Gallagher baseball bat, he is waiting outside the Milkovich house for the brothers but he instead catches Mandy on her way out of the house and in a desperate attempt to have her call her brothers off and put an end to the rumours, he yells that he's gay. Mandy and Ian get to talking and Mandy says that she can pretend to be Ian's girlfriend at school so no one ever gives him a hard time and the two become best friends.

Mickey then starts shoplifting from the Kash and Grab when Kash is behind the till. Linda is fed up with Kash for not putting an end to this. In episode 6 of the season, Mickey steals chips and a few other items from the store, Ian asks Kash if Mickey paid for the items, Mickey then barges back in and steals some dip for the chips, Ian runs out and tells Mickey "Why don't you steal from a neighbourhood you don't live in, Have some civic pride huh?", Mickey then throws the dip at the store and calls out to Ian saying "You know where I live if you have a problem". Later, Linda (Ian's boss and Kash's wife) issues a gun to be placed behind the counter to be used to deter Mickey and future shoplifters.
First Hook up and Early Relationship[]

In Season 1 Episode 7 "Frank Gallagher: Loving Husband, Devoted Father" Mickey steals the gun behind the till when Kash pulls it on him after he attempts to once again shoplift from the Kash and Grab.Later that day, Linda installs security cameras around the store. Ian comes into the store and sees that Kash has a black eye, so Ian decides to go to the Milkovich house. He bursts into Mickeys room and starts looking for the gun. Mandy tells Ian to get out because Mickey will kill him if he sees him in there, Ian tells Mandy to tell Mickey that this ends now and he can't hurt Kash anymore. The next morning, Ian returns with a crowbar and goes into Mickey's room, where Mickey is sleeping. He demands the gun back but Mickey attacks Ian and they begin to fight, eventually Mickey pins Ian down on his bed, as Ian prepares for the beating of his life, Mickey stops and looks at him, Ian opens his eyes and sees Mickey. Mickey then pulls off his shirt and the two hook up. Mickey’s father, Terry, later walks in on them lying in bed together. He doesn’t understand what they’ve been doing, and instead just tells them to get dressed, since they "look like a couple of f*gs". Afterwards, Mickey and Ian get dressed and Mickey hands him the gun. Ian tries to kiss Mickey but Mickey says "Kiss me and I'll cut your fucking tongue out". Ian leaves and goes back to the Kash and Grab to drop off the gun, he had also been told to come over by Linda. Linda had actually seen Ian and Kash hook up on the newly installed security cameras, and tells Kash that he can have what he wants behind closed doors if he gives her another child. Kash agrees and Ian is ashamed thinking he's fired, Linda says he isn't, and that he could "do better".

Season 1 Episode 8 "It's Time To Kill The Turtle" Ian begins to grow distant from Kash, and is seemingly uncomfortable with the thought of sleeping with Kash again. Later, Mickey walks into the Kash and Grab and asks for Slim Jims, to which Ian locks the door and they go into the back room and hook up. Afterwards, Ian asks "So, I guess this was like a booty call huh?", to which Mickey says "Whatever. See you" and leaves. The next day, Ian is doing English homework with Mandy at her house when Mickey comes home calls Mandy and Ian douchebags and goes into his bedroom. Ian follows, telling Mandy he needs the bathroom and they hook up in his room. Afterwards, Ian rejoins Mandy on the sofa to play video games when Mickey says "Shove over, f*ggots" and joins them. He takes Ian's controller and says "Watch and learn", Ian looks at Mickey with a smile on his face.
Season 1 Episode 9 "But At Last Came A Knock" When Ian's bipolar mother Monica comes back home, Ian panics due to the emotional distress she put him through before. He runs over to Mickey's house, saying he needs to see him, but Mickey says it's "not a good time" as his father yells from inside. Ian insists, saying he doesn't know where else to go and Mickey seems to soften and questions why he's not working. Ian says he's supposed to be there and Linda will "have his ass", and Mickey says he'll meet him at the store in 20 minutes then shuts the door. The two have sex in the back room again when Kash comes running to find Ian saying that Linda is pregnant so they can hook up again. He then sees Mickey and Ian having sex and walks in on them, which causes Mickey to push him and run out of the store. Mickey comes in later to ensure Kash keeps quiet by saying "Fucking right, you keep your mouth shut. You better keep it shut" and steals a chocolate bar. He winds Kash up about Ian by biting a snickers bar and saying "It's sweet, I like 'em sweet, but then again so do you". Kash then pulls the gun on him and shoots his leg. Ian runs to comfort Mickey by holding him while Mickey shouts at Kash from the floor. Ian then leaves the store before the police show up.

Season 1 Episode 10 "Nana Gallagher Had An Affair" Ian asks Mandy about Mickey at school to which she tells him that Mickey's being held in a jail ward at county. Ian tells Lip about everything going on with Mickey and Kash to which Lip only replies "Holy shit". Ian visits Mickey in prison and Mickey thanks him for putting money in his commissary account, but Ian tells him it was Kash because Ian blackmailed him into it. Mickey seems impressed, smiles and thanks him again. Mickey tells Ian it's supposed to be a year until he leaves but he might get out earlier on good behaviour. Ian tells him he misses him, to which Mickey says "Say that again, I'll rip your tongue out of your head" but the two then smile after. Ian puts his hand on the glass but Mickey tells him to take it off.
Season 2[]
Early Relationship Post-Mickey Release[]

In season 2 episode 2 "Summer Loving" Mickey is released from juvenile detention. Ian goes along with Mandy to see Mickey once he is released. Ian puts his arms around Mickey and Mickey brushes them off. Later, he and Ian resume their relationship, by going to a baseball field dug out area to have sex. On their way there, Ian and Mickey are talking about Ians plans in the summer and all the courses he is taking as he wants to go to West Point. Mickey asks Ian why he wants to go to West Point and Ian says he wants to be an officer, Mickey responds by saying "Don't officers get shot first?". Mickey then shotguns a beer, drinks out of it and gives the rest to Ian, while looking him up and down and laughing when he coughs a bit. When Ian asks Mickey if he made friends on the inside, Mickey says "You wanna chit chat more, or you wanna get on me?" and the two begin taking off their clothes and have sex. Later, sprinklers go off symbolising that they have orgasmed, and Mickey yells saying how he always wanted to do that at the field. Ian and Mickey do pull ups and they keep talking and Ian and Mickey talk about the possibility of him going back to school. Mickey says he first need to find a job to appease his Parole Officer, Ian says he could go to community college and Mickey asks why they're talking about these things anyway and says "Jesus Christ, you wanna spread a blanket out and look for shooting stars next?". Ian then offers him a job at the Kash and Grab doing security, preventing anyone from stealing from the store. This is possible now since Kash has actually ran off away from his family and Chicago. Mickey questions this and Ian says it could be like a redemption tale, Mickey then starts working security at the Kash and Grab. On his first day at the job he prevents Frank from stealing from the Kash and Grab after Ian had unsuccessfully asked him to pay for his things, Mickey then asks Ian "That the kinda leadership you plan on bringing into the Army" to which Ian says "Said Last Nights Bottom" Mickey responds with "Whatever, liking what I like don't make me a bitch".
Mickey Goes To Jail... Again[]
in "Parenthood" Frank catches the boys having sex in the cooler of the Kash and Grab, and Mickey, fearing that his father would kill him should Frank reveal what he had seen, makes a plan to kill Frank. Ian tells Frank to keep his mouth shut and warns him that Mickey will kill him. Ian tries convincing Mickey not to kill Frank, Mickey is angry because he cant seem to find Frank and uncovers that Ian warned him. He gets angry and says he's done, Ian questions and says "Franks walked in on Fiona and all of her boyfriends, walked in on Lip and his girls, we got nothing to be ashamed of!" Mickey then responds saying "What fucking world do you live in?", Ian starts stumbling on his words and Mickey says "Look what did I just say to you, done is done, what do you think we're boyfriend and girlfriend here, you're nothing but a warm mouth to me!", Ian gets upset and Mickey walks out of the store. Later though, Mickey can't go through with killing Frank and assaults a police officer instead, violating his parole and returning him to juvenile detention.
Season 3[]
In Season 2 Ian had begun a relationship with Jimmy/Steve's Dad Ned Lishman, in the first episode of season 3 Ian tells Ned that he kind of has a boyfriend, and that he's been gone for a while but he's going to be coming back soon. Ned asks if he's young or old, and Ian says young, Ned then proposes a threesome to which Ian laughs off. In the first episode of the season, Ian asks Mandy how Mickey's doing in jail, and Mandy says good but all he ever wants is girl on girl porn, Ian looks visibly confused when she says this, as obviously this is another attempt of Mickey's to hide his being gay.

In Season 3 Episode 2 "The American Dream" Ian is having sex with a fellow ROTC member under the high school bleachers, when they hear someone asking what's going on under there, they then see that it's Mickey. He approaches them and starts to beat up the guy Ian was with, the guy questions why he isn't beating up Ian, and Mickey says "You're the one taking it in the ass right? then you're the one I gotta kick straight" (Irony being here that Mickey is the bottom in their relationship). Mickey then kicks the guy out and asks Ian if he has any fuck left in him and they begin to have sex under the bleachers. Afterwards, Mickey says "Man, that was good, I missed ya" Ian says "You did?" and Mickey says yes because he was the one who had to do all the fucking in juvie or else he would be perceived as someone's bitch. They get to talking and Mickey says he won't be going back to school but that he fronted a bunch of coke before he went into juvie and that its time to collect. Later, Ian asks Mandy how to tell if a guy likes you, Mandy asks if Ian likes him and Ian says yes but he thinks that he (Mickey) hates him, Mandy says "Does he get that look in his eye when he's with you?" and Ian questions saying 'What look?" and Mandy responds "You'll know it when you see it.". Later Ian tries to look into Mickeys eyes but fails and Mickey asks "The fuck are you looking at?".

In the episode "May I Trim Your Hedges?" Ian, Mickey, Lip, Terry, Mickey's brothers, and many other neighbourhood kids go to beat up a pedophile, when she turns out to be a woman they leave, and Mickey says if he had a teacher who looked like her, he would be into it too, Ian looks lost when he says this, as yet again this is another one of Mickey's attempts to appear straight in front of others, though this time it was only in front of Lip who unbeknownst to Mickey already knows he's gay and hooking up with Ian. Mickey then asks a girl named Angie if she wants to fuck, to which she says yes, and Mickey goes inside her house. Lip then says "See I thought you two were uh-" and Ian says "Shut up". Later, at the Kash and Grab, where Mickey is working security again, Mickey is selling weed to a guy who comes into the store. When the guy is too dumb to realise that the weed is in a coffee cup Mickey has put in a trash can in front of him, Ian just tells him to get out. Mickey asks Ian why he's messing with his business and Ian asks Mickey, why he is doing his business in his store, and that he's "not going down for this shit", Mickey then flirtatiously asks "What you going down for then?". Ian asks Mickey if he really fucked Angie Zahgo, and Mickey says yes he did, and Ian looks confused and a bit upset. Later on, Ned (Ians hookup) comes into the Kash and Grab, Ian asks what he's doing there and he says that he was hungry, Ian then says "So, you drove all the way to the Southside for a bag of chips?", "Well, a bag of chips and a ginger snap, I'm hoping", Ian then says he's working and Ned says to meet him later for happy hour drinks at "The Fountain". As Ned is walking out, Mickey blocks his way and asks "You got a receipt?" Ian hands one to Ned and Mickey eyes him up and down before letting him pass. He asks Ian "That you're grandpa" "No, just a guy I've been seeing" "Oh, that's a guy you've been uh- seeing, you guys, like, picnic together, or gonna get a dog with a fucking sweater?", "No, we don't picnic, we mostly just fuck. Like you and Angie!". Later, we see that Mickey is outside "The Fountain" drinking a beer and stalking Ned and Ian, and we can see that he's clearly jealous. As Ian and Ned leave the bar, Mickey approaches them, and Ian asks him what he's doing here, Ned tells Ian not to be rude and to invite his boyfriend (referring to Mickey) back to his place, Mickey then laughs and asks him "What'd you call me" and starts beating him up and kicking him, Ian punches Mickey so he stops and as people start approaching, Mickey begins to run away and prompts Ian to do the same yelling "Come on, Gallagher", Ian says sorry to Ned and starts running away with Mickey. As they go, Ian asks Mickey what the fuck that was and pushes him a bit, but soon after the two start play fighting with each other and laughing.
In "The Helpful Gallaghers", Ned tells Jimmy that he and his mother are getting a divorce. He stays the night at the Gallaghers since he and Jimmy got very drunk at the Alibi, and he ends up climbing into bed with Lip thinking it's Ian, Lip obviously freaks out and Ian and Ned's relationship is exposed to the Gallaghers and Jimmy/Steve.
Ian and Mickey's First Kiss
In "The Sins of My Caretaker" Ian is restocking shelves at the Kash and Grab, and Ned shows up to apologise for last week's antics, and asks Ian to forgive him since his life is going downhill, when Ian accepts the apology, Ned asks if he can kiss him, to which Ian says no and pushes him away. Ned then asks Ian if he can rob his house for him, and tells him to go in during daylight hours and to look like movers, Ned himself cant go since the neighbours might recognise him. He tells Ian that his wife won't be awake and that he can take whatever he wants, and tells him he just wants 4 items from the house. Later Ian is preparing for military school and Mickey is helping him by shooting bullets close to him, Ian tells Mickey about Ned's proposition of stealing from his mansion and asks him if he wants in, when Ian mentions this, Mickey gets a bit worked up and starts shooting closer and closer to Ian, Mickey asks if he can bring his cousins, to which Ian says yes. Mickey then says that he doesn't understand what Ian sees in Ned, Ian responds saying "He buys me stuff, orders me room service. He isn't afraid to kiss me." The next day, while Mickey, his brothers and cousins go inside the mansion to rob it, Mickey leaves and while no one is outside the house, goes to the van that Ian drove them in and kisses him for the first time, as Mickey walks away he flashes a middle finger to Ian and Ian smiles at him. Later, Mickey gets shot by Ned's wife in the ass and Ned has to perform surgery on him and take out the bullet.

In "Cascading Failures" Ian and his siblings have been thrown into the foster care system. Ian and Lip are staying at a level 3 group home. Ian is talking to Mickey at work about how there's no privacy in the group home and Mickey makes fun of him a bit, then he asks "You fuck anyone in there yet?" to which Ian says no, Mickey says "Wise choice, even if you're propositioned, its probably just a set up, guys wanna find out if you're gay and pound the shit out of you, and not in a good way.", while Mickey is framing it like this its clear to the audience that he is also saying this because he doesn't want Ian to sleep with other people and clearly likes him. Mickey then tells Ian that his brothers and dad are out of town for a few days, and says "If you wanna ditch that dump [group home] and crash at my place you can." Ian then laughs and says "Was I just invited to a sleepover?", Mickey responds "Fuck you is what you were invited to". Later that night, Ian goes to Mickeys house, where Mickey has made pizza bites, they talk a bit and then turn on a movie to watch together, they both look at each other and smile. In the morning, Mickey's dad, Terry Milkovich, walks in on the two having sex in Mickey’s living room. Terry begins to profusely beat Ian, and Mickey is trying to rip him off, once Mickey gets him off he begins to attack Mickey beating him up and pistol whipping him unconscious, Terry then holds a gun to Ian and forces him to stay in the room. He then calls someone on his phone and says to "Send over the Russian". In the next scene, we see a Russian hooker come into the Milkovich house, and Terry tells Mickey that she's going to fuck the gay out of him and forces Ian to watch. As she begins to have sex with Mickey we can see both Ian and Mickey look extremely upset and we zoom in on Ians distraught face as he has to watch Mickey get raped by her.
Ian and Mickey's Relationship Post-Getting Caught by Mickey's Father[]
In the next episode titled "A Long Way from Home", Ian goes to see Mickey on top of a building where he is shooting at a doll, Ian says "So uh, thanks to me you've been pistol whipped and shot in the ass" but Mickey ignores him and continues shooting, Ian tells Mickey he's here to make sure Mickey is okay, Mickey though doesn't say a word to him which prompts Ian to yell "Could you at least look at me?", but Mickey continues shooting at the doll and ignoring him, and Ian leaves.
Ian finds out Mickey is getting married
In Episode 9 "Frank the Plumber", Mandy, while ranting about her and Lips relationship, reveals to Ian that Mickey is getting married to "some whore he knocked up". After hearing this Ian is in pure shock and speechless, he stands in the hallway alone while everyone else goes to their classes. Later in class, Ian asks Mandy if Mickey is seriously getting married and asks if their dad is forcing him to, Mandy says "I don't know, why do you give a shit?". Later Ian finds Mickey in an abandoned building, and says "So is it true? You're getting married? So uh, who is it? is it uh, Angie Zahgo? or some other piece of trash you screw so you can pretend I don't matter to you?", when Mickey doesn't respond, Ian throws an empty vodka bottle onto the ground smashing it, Mickey yells "What the fuck Gallagher?" and Ian responds saying "Oh, He speaks!", Mickey then leaves and Ian follows him outside onto a barren field. Ian tells Mickey "So that's it? we're over? you're dad beats the shit out of us, and you're gonna get married, no conversation, no nothing?" and tries to get Mickey to look at him but Mickey pushes him away and says "Get the fuck off of me", Ian then says "You want a f*g bash? that make you feel like a man?" Ian then points at himself and yells "Go ahead! do it!", Mickey then punches Ian in the stomach and mumbles "fuck" under his breath, Ian crouches down then looks up and says "You love me, and you're gay. Just admit. Just this once, fucking admit it!" Mickey then punches Ian again in the face this time, Ian then falls onto the ground and asks Mickey if he "[feels] better now?" and if he "[feels] like man]". Mickey then kicks Ian across the face causing Ian to bleed heavily and knocking out one of his back teeth, he is unable to get back up, Mickey then throws a bottle he's been drinking out of on the ground walks away and says "[I] feel better now".
In the following episode Ian asks Mandy about the girl Mickey is marrying, Mandy reveals that she works at "Garden Springs Spa", as a hooker, Ian asks Mandy if the girl Mickey is marrying is pretty, and Mandy says that "on the dead eyed Russian hand-whore scale...she'd rate about a 7". Ian goes to Garden Springs Spa and sees that Mickey is actually marrying the same girl that Terry made him fuck. Ian goes and reveals all this information to Lip, about everything that went down with him and Mickey including Terry catching them etc. Lip asks Ian how he didn't know about all of this and Ian says it is because he didn't tell him or anyone. Ian then says "I mean he [Mickey] might of faked it once or twice, but, he wants to be with me, I know what he felt with me, you cant fake that." he continues saying "And now, this chick is pregnant". Lip says Ian should go out and meet someone new and Ian just laughs it off.

In the penultimate episode of season 3 "Order Room Service", the day of Mickey and Svetlana (the girl who raped Mickey)'s wedding is getting closer. Lip tells Ian that he needs to get out of bed, and Ian says he is loosing his mind and can't stop thinking about the wedding, Lip advises Ian to stay as far away from Mickey as possible. Mandy then comes in and interrupts asking Lip if he wants to help set up for the wedding in the afternoon, Lip says he can't, but Ian interrupts saying that he can help, Lip tries to get Ian not to do it but Ian ignores him. While setting up Ian is questioning Mandy about Svetlana asking what she's like, and if she thinks Mickey is in love with her, Mandy responds saying "I don't know, tons of guys get girls knocked up and don't get hitched so? Dad's super excited, planned the whole thing, invited his buds from the gun club, it's kinda sweet." Ian is silent when she says this knowing the context behind everything, and he angrily continues setting up. The next day which is the day of the wedding, Fiona sees Ian lying on the couch with a bunch of empty liquor bottles on the ground, she asks him what time he got back home last night and Ian says around 3 am. Fiona is concerned and asks Lip "Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on with that kid?" and Lip says "I'm sure he'll tell you when he's ready" and Fiona responds saying "I hope so". Later, Ian gets out of bed and goes to the wedding venue, he runs in and sees Mickey. He tells Mickey "You call me a punk for wanting a boyfriend or whatever but you're gonna marry someone who screws guys for a living?" and Mickey says that its just a piece of paper and it means nothing. Mickey says just because he's getting married doesn't mean they cant still hook up, but Ian shakes his head because to him it isn't just about whether or not they can have sex. Ian says "if you give half a shit about" and gets closer to Mickey but Mickey pushes him away, Ian continues saying "Half... don't do this". Mickey looks at Ian and Ian looks back at him and the two begin to make out and take their clothes off. Afterwards, Mickey jokes with Ian saying "Damn Gallagher, I ought to get you pissed off more often.", Ian asks Mickey if he should go outside and tell everyone the wedding has been called off. Mickey says no, but tells Ian to wait for him here and that after the wedding he'll come back so they can hook up again. Ian then says that there is no way he is still going to go through with the wedding, Mickey asks Ian "Why you acting like I have any choice in this?" and Ian says "this is bullshit, listen to me Mickey, Your dad is an evil psychotic prick okay? you're just gonna let him ruin your life?". Mickey tells Ian that he needs to grow up, and tells Ian "Not everybody just gets to blurt out how they fucking feel every minute". Suddenly, Mandy bursts in and tells Mickey that everyone is looking for him, Mickey says he's just having a smoke and then leaves, Mandy then tells Ian that she didn't know he was coming and Ian responds saying "Last minute decision".

The wedding then begins and Svetlana walks down the aisle, we then see the two hold hands and a zoom is shown on Mickey's "Fuck" hand tattoo, as Ian walks away in the background. Ian then goes to the bar and begins pouring vodka in a red solo cup and drinking heavily, knowing that Mickey is marrying someone who he feels no attraction for, doesn't love, and raped him, he knows Terry is to blame for all of this and continues drinking believing he and Mickey will never be together again. Later Lip comes to the wedding and is confronting Mandy when Ian drunkenly grabs him and says "He did it, He got married, to a woman", Lip says that he told Ian not to come and Ian says "You try sitting on your ass while you watch the person you love..." he continues and begins yelling "No I'm sorry, I mean the guy you've been fucking, get married off to some random commie skank. Fucking commie!". Ian throws his drink on the ground, and Mandy looks absolutely shocked having no idea of the twos relationship beforehand. Lip then takes Ian outside, and tries to take him home but Ian can barely walk and drops to the ground outside the house telling Lip he's gonna puke.
Mickey finds out Ian is going off into the Army
In the Finale "Survival of the Fittest", Ian is in his full ROTC outfit as he comes down the stairs happily, Lip questions why he's in this outfit a day before winter break, and Ian lies and says that they are having a winter ceremony. Lip follows Ian outside and tells him "Glad to see you out of bed. Thought we were gonna have to put you on uh- suicide watch, take away your shoelaces and bedsheets." Ian then laughs and says "No, need, moved on, how many times you gotta hear no right?" Ian then tells Lip that he will catch up with him after school. However, instead of going to school Ian goes to an enlistment office, and says that he wants to enlist in the Army active duty full time, he tells the officer he's ready to go and that he has passed all the exams needed to join (vocational aptitude, physical, etc). The officer says that all he needs to get on the bus the next day for basic combat training would be photo I.D, and Ian says he will be there with it. Ian begins packing to leave the following morning, and he tells his family that its a last minute ROTC retreat, he asks Carl for his SOG Seal team knife, and Carl gives it to him reluctantly, Ian then decides to give him the knife and tells Carl he can keep it as long as he doesn't use it on anything living. Carl asks Ian if he can teach him the different hand grips and Ian says sure, looking upset knowing he won't be there. Then Ian goes to visit Mandy, the two talk, Mickey yells from off screen "Who's at the God damn door?" and Mandy responds saying "It's for me, shithead". Mandy asks if Ian wants the homework from school, Ian says "No, I just came by to see you", Mandy says she has some laughing gas, and goes off to get it. Mickey then comes by to see who's there. Mickey sees Ian and tells him to come into his room because he wants to show him something, Ian reluctantly follows him, and Mickey starts talking to him about Svetlana (how she made him take his Nazi stuff down, and how she can handle her alcohol better than him), when he sees Ian is uncomfortable he says "Anyway, she's working tomorrow night. Figure if she's gonna be out fucking dudes, why can't I?". Ian then says "No, thanks" and Mickey says "Mmm, hard to get's getting me hard Gallagher." and Ian says that he is leaving town. Mickey laughs it off, and Ian says he's going into the army, Mickey responds saying "Ah, right, you gotta be 18", and Ian responds saying he found a way around that. Mickey then asks if he's seriously signing up, and Ian says "Tomorrow morning" Mickey tells him it's a dumb move and asks "How long?" Ian responds "Four years, minimum". Mickey then gets defensive, trying to hide his emotions for Ian, he angrily says "What're you hoping, I tell you not to go? I'm gonna chase after you like some bitch?". Ian just says that he didn't come here for him and walks off, as he's leaving, Mickey says "Don't", Ian asks "Don't what?" and Mickey says "Just.." trying to hide his tears, Mickey can't open up to Ian and doesn't fully tell him that he doesn't want him to leave, therefore Ian walks away. We then see Mickey face away from his bedroom door sitting on his bed crying, and trying to wipe away his tears so no one knows how emotional he had gotten. Mandy comes into the doorframe and says "Really? that's all you're gonna say to him?" Mickey then realises that Mandy knows about his and Ian's relationship and doesn't see him differently as a a result of it, Mickey looks back at her, and Mandy then says "You're a fucking pussy" and walks off. Mickey says "fuck" under his breath having believed he lost Ian, and starts wiping away his tears again.

The next day, early in the morning we see Ian prepare to go off into the Army, he says goodbye to Liam, and kisses him on the forehead saying he's going to send postcards, he also looks at Carl sleeping and pats the side of his bed frame. With his bags in hand he goes to the back of a liquor store hands them a photo of him as well as Lip's ID. Ian's plan is to join the Army under Lip's name since Lip is 18 and Ian himself is not, therefore can't legally join the U.S Army. He gets back the I.D and goes onto the bus to go off into the army, the officer says "Philip" and Ian says "It's Lip", the officer then tells him "It's just Gallagher, now, get on" Ian smiles and gets onto the bus.

Mickey Attempts to Cope with Ian Missing[]

In Episode 1 of Season 4 "Simple Pleasures", Debbie says she is worried about Ian but Fiona says that he is 17 and she trusts him to make decisions for himself. Debbie and Carl seem annoyed that Fiona won't make an effort to look for Ian, as they have no idea where he is. This prompts Debbie & Liam to go over to the Milkovich house where Debbie asks Mandy "Ian's still missing, have you heard from him?" when Mandy shakes her head, Debbie keeps asking "Nothing? not even a call or text?" but Mandy says no, Debbie then leaves. Mandy comes back inside the house where Mickey is trying to handle finances, Mickey asks Mandy who was at the door and she says that it was Debbie, Mickey asks what she wanted and Mandy says "She was looking for Ian", Mickey replies "Seen him?", Mandy responds "Why do you care?", Mickey then says "I don't", trying to hide the fact that he does, since his family and father are sitting at the table. Later at the Alibi, Mickey is talking about how his wife, Svetlana barely gets paid for her services, and how he wants to open a new business where the girls get compensated fairly. Mickey asks Kevin "You heard from Gallagher?", Kev says "Frank? No?", Mickey then says, "Not fucking Frank, the other one, the redhead." Kev replies "Ian? No he took off. What? Did he owe you money or something?". Mickey just looks at Kev clearly a bit upset and disappointed, but then "checks himself" and looks around to ensure no one saw him getting emotional. At night, Mickey goes back to his house and goes to the washroom, he locks the door and is clearly very upset, trying to calm himself, he digs in a pile of magazines by the toilet. He grabs a specific one near the bottom and goes to a specific page where he has put a photo of Ian. Mickey grabs the photo and puts it up on the mirror, he begins to jerk off to it getting angrier and angrier until he ends up punching the mirror shattering it. From outside the washroom, Svetlana asks if he is okay, and Mickey says he's fine and that he just slipped, she tells him to hurry up as she needs to go to the bathroom so Mickey quickly puts the photo of Ian back into the magazine hiding it.

In episode 3 "Like Father, Like Daughter" Mickey is at the Alibi, yet again drinking, he drunkenly says "I like fucking carrot tops, like with the freckles and the pale skin, fucking alien looking", Kev gives a weird look but then tells Mickey that today might be his lucky day and points to a woman sitting at the bar with red hair. Mickey goes over and asks if she wants to bang. They go to the bathroom and start having sex though its clear Mickey doesn't enjoy it, he then asks her to switch positions and try to pound him with her hipbone, yet again signalling how badly Mickey misses Ian.
In the following episodes, Mickey gets Svetlana and her coworkers out of the bad deal they were already in with their previous pimp, Sasha. He opens and runs the "Rub n Tug" in the upstairs room of the Alibi with Kev, where he tries to get the girls fairly compensated for their work.

Mickey asks Lip if Ian is in trouble
In "There's the Rub", the Military Police, come to Lips university and ask him if he knows "This man" holding up a photo of Ian, Lip says he does not know him, and asks what he is wanted for, the MP's inform Lip that he is wanted for impersonating him, for being absent without leave and for attempted theft of a Helicopter, Surface to Air missile, among other things. Lip goes back home and asks Debbie and Carl if they have heard from Ian or the Military Police to which they say no. Lip has pretty much figured out that Ian has joined the military under his name and social security number, but they have no idea where he currently is, as he went AWOL. When Lip can't get ahold of Fiona he tries searching around to see if anyones heard from Ian. Lip approaches the Milkovich house where Mickey is outside the door smoking and drinking, Mickey says "Mandy ain't here", and Lip replies "Good, because I came to talk to you". Mickey asks "The fuck you want?" and Lip asks if he has heard from Ian, Mickey says no and Lip suspecting that Mickey isn't telling him the truth says its important, Mickey tells Lip "So you think I give a shit because I worked with the guy?" Lip smiles a bit and tells Mickey "You're gonna make me spell it out?" Mickey then looks at Lip and says "What the fuck you getting at?", "Nothing, I'm just worried about him, that's all", "Well I haven't seen him". As Lip starts walking away, Mickey asks him if Ian is in trouble, and when Lip doesn't say anything Mickey asks "What kind of trouble?" and Lip says that he will tell him when he finds out. As Lip leaves, we see that Mickey is clearly worried about Ian.
Ian spots Debbie and Lip at the bar he is working at
For the rest of the episode Lip and Debbie go looking for Ian, the more and more they find out the more concerned they get. They talk to Ned (Ian's ex fling) who says Ian stayed with him for a while but was friends with some not great people and one night Ned came back home, he and his friends had smashed his glass table with bottles of Jägermeister, he then asked Ian to leave. Debbie asks if he knows where Ian might be now, and Ned says with Monica, their bipolar mother, Ned gives them the address to where they are staying. Later, when Debbie and Lip go to the address they find out Monica no longer lives there but Ian does, they find a woman who tells them that Ian is at work, when they ask where he works, she says "The White Swallow". Lip and Debbie then go inside "The White Swallow" which is a gay bar in the Boystown neighbourhood of Chicago. They then find Ian wearing eyeliner and a silver disco ball shirt, he is working as a bartender there (keep in mind Ian is 17 years old). Ian spots Lip and Debbie from behind the bar approaches them and is acting extremely strange, he is super energetic and seems to be high. Lip and Debbie are rightfully very concerned and Lip asks him how long he's been working there, and he tells Ian that the Military police are looking for him and want to arrest him for going AWOL and stealing government property but Ian is completely ignoring him and talking about how he loves the song that is playing and how the liquor he is using is top shelf. Lip then says "No, hey did you hear me? they say you stole a helicopter." Ian replies laughing and says "That's hilarious" Lip then says "Is it?" and Ian says "Yea, yea, I mean I didn't steal anything I just started the routers". Ian then changes the topic, asking if Lip and Debbie want to go out with him after his shift. Ian says he gets off work at 2 am and goes out after or if he's really feeling pumped, goes to the gym, Lip is worried and asks Ian to come outside with him but Ian just laughs and is pacing around the bar looking for different things, a bouncer then drags Ian and Debbie outside. Debbie then asks Lip "Why was he acting like that? Is there something wrong with him?". Lip escorts Debbie out of the bar and the two leave, Lip says at least they know where he is now and that he will try to check up on him.
In episode 6 "Iron City", Terry goes to jail for breaking his parole by doing drugs, Lip goes to see Mandy and tells her everything going on with his family (Fiona leaving coke out, and Liam getting into, him going to the hospital and Fiona getting arrested for drug possession and child endangerment, Frank being on the brink of death), he also says that he found Ian, and asks Mandy to find him and tell him what is going on with their family. Mandy says she will try to do that.

Mickey finds Ian at the Fairytale
In Season 4 Episode 7, Mandy bursts into the bathroom where Mickey is and tells him "Douchebag, go find your boyfriend", Mickey responds "Get the fuck out, and close the door", Mandy says "I looked for him all day yesterday, and he's not answering any of my texts", Mickey then says "What the fuck are you talking about?", and Mandy says "Don't play dumb with me, Ian". The second Mandy says his name, Mickey starts looking upset and worried, Mandy continues on saying "You know, you're the reason he left. So go find him, I gotta go to work". Mickey tells Mandy that it's not his problem but Mandy says "Nothings ever your problem, for once, you know, make something your problem". Later in the day Kev comes to get a gun from Mickey, Kev makes a comment about how Mickey smells good, and you can see that on Mickeys bed he has been trying out different shirts to look nice for Ian. Svetlana, Mickey's pregnant wife asks where Mickey is going and he says he is going to take care of something important. Mickey then goes to The White Swallow with the photo of Ian he had jerked off to in episode 1 of the season. Mickey shows the manager of the bar the photo of Ian and asks if he has seen him, the manager doesn't really look and just says no, Mickey gets frustrated and says "Why don't you take a look again, he used to work here so I'm pretty sure you have.", the manager then tells Mickey that he cant keep track of everyone who comes in and out of here, and that Mickey isn't the first guy to come in here looking for some guy who jacked him off in a bathroom and told him it was true love. Mickey looks at the manager and asks if he is calling him gay, the manager says "Oh please, honey, you make Justin Bieber look straight" Mickey then smashes his head against the counter and puts a fake police officer badge on the table saying if he doesn't tell him where Ian is he will shut the place down for prostitution and intent to sell among other things. The manager then caves and says Ian is working at their other location called "The Fairy Tale" in Boystown.

Later we see Ian absolutely coked out working as a stripper, he is wearing a fishnet top, short shorts, and a feather boa, grinding on what seems to be a 40-60 year old guy who is giving him drugs. Mickey enters the bar, and sees Ian in this state and looks at him concerned from afar, he then goes to him, Mickey taps the two of them and says "Times up lovebirds". Ian is in shock seeing Mickey again, and Mickey says "Get up" and Ian immediately gets up. Mickey then yells at the old guy, "That means get the fuck up, it's my turn!". The guy gets up and tells Ian "I'll look for you later, Curtis" to which Mickey immediately says "Curtis? you got a fucking stage name?" Ian then tries to not acknowledge Mickey and act like he's any other customer. Ian tells Mickey "25 bucks gets you a dance", "Excuse me?", "Don't want a dance, you gotta move on", as Ian walks away, Mickey says "Okay all right, 25 bucks for your ass huh? never had to pay for that shit before". Mickey gives Ian the 25 dollars but Ian lifts his shirt signalling to Mickey that he has to put it in his shorts, Mickey gives him a sarcastic smile and does so, Ian then throws him on the couch and starts grinding on him. Ian continues pretending like he doesn't know Mickey and makes small talk like how he would with any other customer "So how's your day going so far?", "How's my fucking day going?", "Having fun?", "No I'm not having fun, I spent the whole day looking for your coked out ass". Mickey tells Ian that his family is worried about him, but Ian isn't paying attention and is acting very weird, when Ian continues not responding Mickey says "Hello? What the fuck? I can't talk to you like this. Can we go outside?" he continues on telling Ian that the guys at the bar are giving him so much coke that he's tweaking out and acting strange. He tells Ian "Let's go back to my place. You can sober up a little bit. Catch up or some shit, [you can] tell me where you've been all this time." Ian then gets up and says "That was fun, find me if you want another one". Mickey immediately gets up and turns Ian around, telling him that if he doesn't want to hang out with him that's fine but he has to call his family because his dad is dying and Fiona almost killed Liam. This concerns Ian but then a bouncer comes up to him and asks him if there's a problem, and that a guy over there wants a dance, Ian says there isn't a problem and that he is on it, Ian then goes over to dance with the guy. Mickey then tells the bouncer that he's leaving, and gets out of the bar.

Later that night after Ians shift is over, we see him and an older guy between the ages of 60-70, leaving The Fairytale. Ian seems completely out of it and is extremely high, barely able to walk, and mumbling his words. The older guy tells Ian it's cold and asks him to keep him warm and puts his hands down Ians pants, (keep in mind, Ian is still 17 years old). Ian asks the guy if he has any drugs at his house and tells the guy that their Uber will be there in 3 minutes, the guy then says "What should we do until then?" and continues being creepy with Ian, licking the side of his face. This is when Mickey grabs him from behind pulls him off of Ian punches him, saying "Why don't you molest someone your own age, you Geritol fuck" the guy then replies calling Mickey an animal, Mickey then says "I'm not the one groping and licking under age boys, am I?" the guy says that they're just having fun and Mickey tells him to shut the fuck up and give "Curtis" some money before he calls the cops on him. The guy hands a bunch of money to Mickey and then Mickey pushes him and kicks him away yelling at him as he is running away. As Mickey is picking the money off the ground, he sees Ian lying down, passed out in the snow on the sidewalk next to the bar. Mickey looks at him and says "Jesus Christ, Ian" under his breathe, he attempts to wake Ian up but he's completely blacked out, so he picks him up off the ground and puts him on his shoulders ready to take him home, this is when the Uber comes and he asks Mickey if he called for an Uber, and Mickey says he did, he then carries Ian into the Uber.

In the next scene we see of the two, it's late at night and we see that Mickey has taken Ian into the Milkovich house. Mickey has taken him into his bedroom and laid him on his bed. Ian is still passed out and Mickey is looking at Ian, in a look that has guilt, for having believed he caused Ian to get to this point, sadness and disappointment, for seeing Ian in this kind of compromised state, anger, and also love for Ian. Mickey looks at Ian smiling, while he is holding a cigarette in his hand, he then looks up and sees Svetlana who has just come out of the shower, she has her hand on her baby bump as if to remind Mickey, of their marriage and their child, Mickey looks down back at Ian and Svetlana looks at Ian sleeping on the bed knowing there's no room for her on it anymore. She leaves, and Mickey continues looking at Ian but this time with more sadness, he rubs his hand on his head and hair, stressed out thinking about the things that will undoubtedly occur when Ian wakes up and in the following days.
Ian and Mickey Reunite[]
The next day, Ian wakes up very late in the afternoon, therefore Mickey is no longer at the Milkovich house, he wakes up and sees Svetlana looming over him, He says good morning in Russian to her, but she is just staring him down and judging him for sleeping all day amongst other things, obviously. Ian then goes into the shower, but Svetlana pulls the curtain and threatens Ian with a hammer saying that she is going to have a baby soon and Mickey needs to take care of her and the baby, she tells Ian he needs to leave and that if he sleeps there tonight she will kill him and "Bash his orange head". Ian just nods his head and says he understands. He then decides to go back to his own house and he reunites with Fiona hugging her and telling her what he's been up to. During this conversation, Ian is acting very strange and Fiona notices this. Fiona is also concerned because Ian says he enlisted in the Army and now he has all these ideas, and that he won't be going back to school. Ian is laughing very strangely and saying that he's a whole new person after trying to find himself in the military and Fiona seems concerned but doesn't dig too deep into it.
Ian says he will move back in on one condition
Svetlana comes to the Alibi, where Mickey is doing business for the Rub n' Tug and tells Mickey that "Carrot boy is gone", Mickey asks where he went and Svetlana says she doesn't know, and that she made him leave because there is no room for him when the baby comes, Mickey then says "The fuck do I care?". Later that night though, Mickey comes by the Gallagher house and asks if Ian is there, Fiona says that he's upstairs so Mickey goes up into his room. The other siblings are shocked to know that Ian is back. In Ians room, Mickey says "Saw you left, you took all your shit" and Ian replies "Your bride threatened me with a claw hammer", just then all of Ians siblings flood into his room and he hugs them, telling them he missed them. When Ian is telling them his military stories, Carl asks why he even went to the Army and Ian replies "Relationship Issues", Lip then looks at Mickey and asks if Ian is doing okay, Ian replies saying "Yep, all good", and the two brothers say they will catch up later, Lip then takes the siblings out of his room and closes the door. Mickey asks Ian if he will come back to his house, and Ian says "Depends, will you suck my dick whenever I want", Mickey then tells him to fuck off, and Ian starts scribbling in his notebook again. Mickey asks what he's writing and Ian says "Stuff, notes, ideas", Mickey then tells Ian, "I'll do it" Ian looks up at him and asks "Do what?" and Mickey laughs a bit saying "Don't make me say it, asswipe" Ian then interrupts saying "Suck my dick" and smiles at Mickey, he continues, saying "Whenever I want". Mickey then gets down and starts undoing Ians belt and giving him head. Mickey then spends the night at the Gallaghers house.

The next morning, Ian is sharing his stories from when he was in the Army with his siblings who are all shocked at them, he seems very happy and energetic, singing and dancing and acting out his stories, Debbie and Carl seem to be enjoying his energy and stories, but Lip seems a bit worried. Mandy then comes into the house and asks if Mickey is there, Ian says he is upstairs, just then Mickey comes down and asks if its always this noisy in the morning, Mickey then sees Mandy and asks what she's doing there, Mandy tells Mickey that his wife's water broke, and that they need to go. Mickey asks go where, and Mandy says to the hospital, Mickey says "Tell her good luck", 'What? you're not gonna go be with her?", "Hell no, I got work.", "It's not the baby's fault you guys are a shitshow", "Yea and it's not my fault the bitch got knocked up. Who the fuck knows if it's even mine". Mandy leaves and tells Mickey that he is an asshole, Ian then tells Mickey "Congrats" and Mickey flips him off. Once most of Ians siblings leave the house, Mickey sits next to Ian on the dining table and asks if he wants more coffee and pours it for him. Ian looks at him, happily, and then asks if Mickey wants to come by his shift that night because he's working a double, Mickey says yea sure.

Later we see Ian at the club dancing and he notices a guy is checking him out, he starts dancing closer to him and Mickey, who is also at the club, is drinking and watching from a far jealous sees the guy try to slip money into Ians shorts. Mickey walks up to him pushes him away from Ian and says "Those fingers go anywhere near that cock, I'm gonna break every knuckle on your hand, all 15 of them" the guy tells Mickey to settle down and that a hand only has 14 knuckles, Mickey then gets angry and asks him "You wanna fucking die" he then counts the knuckles on his hand. Ian looks at Mickey smiling and then gets down from the stage he was dancing on and tells Mickey that they got invited to an after hours party with one of Ians regulars, Mickey doesn't look too happy about this and Ian tells him that its fun and "What's wrong with fun?" Mickey says it's not fun when it involves other guys trying to get with Ian, Ian interrupts him and tries to kiss him, but Mickey backs up in shock and saying "What the fuck?", Ian then signals to Mickey that literally no one in this club cares if the two make out and Mickey looks around the club seeing everyone else being themselves, Ian smiles at Mickey as if to say its okay for us to do this here. The two then passionately make out in the middle of the club, marking their first ever public kiss.

Later, Ian and Mickey go to the after hours party, Ian was talking about which is in a nice penthouse, Mickey asks what the guy who owns the place does and Ian says that he is an engineer and part time photographer and that he took some of the photos hanging up in the penthouse, Mickey looks at the photos which are of nude male models, and jealously tells Ian "Oh, yea? Why did he want you to come here then?", Ian replies "Oh come on, not everyone wants something from me, Mick". Then the guy who is throwing the after party comes up to the two of them, Ian introduces Mickey to him, and the 3 talk. Ian notices that Mickey seems a bit weirded out, later, when Ian goes to get alcohol for himself and a beer for Mickey, someone comes up to Mickey, and asks if he's here with Ian, Mickey says "Yea" and the guy tells Mickey that Ians great and Mickey just nods. The next morning, Ian and Mickey are sleeping together on a bed at the penthouse, the guy who threw the party it is making breakfast and wakes Mickey up asking what he wants, when asked what he thinks Ian would want for breakfast Mickey says "How the fuck should I know man? I'm not his keeper", the guy says right, he didn't mean to assume, he then asks if they just met last night or if they are together, Mickey says "Together", the guy tells Mickey "Cool, you're a lucky dude" and walks off, Mickey then looks back down at Ian while he's still sleeping.

Mickey tells Svetlana to "Watch [herself]"
Mickey has now been staying at the Gallaghers for a while and making himself comfortable telling them what groceries they need to buy amongst other things. Carl asks Mickey if he lives "here" (the Gallagher house) now and he responds saying "Wife problems, Ian said I could crash on the floor". Lip then comes up the stairs into Ians room, and asks Ian, as he is waking up, how long Mickey will be staying with them, Ian doesn't really respond, which prompts Lip to ask him "Are you sure that's a good Idea?" and Ian avoids his question. Later in the episode we see Ian cutting his military pants into shorts with a pair of scissors, Mickey comes downstairs and laughingly asks him what he's doing, he responds saying "I'm making shorts, for work.", "Trolls at the club get off on the General Patton fantasy?", "More like SEAL Team Six." Mickey then laughs and says "Excuse me". It's clear they seem very happy being together, joking around, laughing and smiling, just then though, there is a knock at the door, Ian goes to open it, and its Svetlana with Mickey's baby. She asks where Mickey is, and lets herself inside, she goes up to him and Mickey's smile fades asking her "The fuck you want?", Svetlana then says "So your sister knows where you are but not mother of your child?". Svetlana gives Ian a dirty look signalling him to leave, Ian then goes up the stairs to let Svetlana and Mickey talk. Svetlana asks Mickey when he's coming home and Mickey says "I'm not coming home", Svetlana and Mickey then talk about their child, where its clear, Mickey has no interest in being around Svetlana or his son. Svetlana says that they need money for the baby, and Mickey tells her that she can work and make the money, but she says that it's not enough for one of the girls who is babysitting their son. Mickey questions why he has to pay a babysitter, and Svetlana tells him that he could watch their child and Mickey responds saying "I got better shit to do" Svetlana then says "Yea like what? do ass fuck with orange boy?" Mickey then looks at her saying "Watch yourself" Svetlana responds "You think you scare me? you're 130 pounds of Ukrainian pussy. What's your father going to say when he gets out of jail and I tell him you spend every day with orange boy rubbing your dicks together? He's gonna cut yours up and shove it up boyfriends anus right where you like it, 500 dollars tomorrow or I call him". Svetlana then asks Mickey if he wants to know his son's name, and he responds saying "Fuck you, thats his name" Mickey then gets extremely mad and kicks a table.
Later Mickey goes to Kev asking for his cut of the Rub n Tug business, Kev gives him a bit of money but it's not enough and Mickey gets frustrated yet again, he tells Kev "You're the worst fucking pimp I've ever seen". Later, Ian goes to the Milkovich house where Mandy says "Hey, I thought you were supposed to be playing house with Mickey" Ian says "His wife stopped by, with their baby, is he gonna be okay?" Ian is talking about their child and he drops off a bag of Liams old baby clothes for their son, because he says that he noticed he was only wearing a onesie earlier and that it's cold outside. He tells Mandy not to tell Svetlana where the clothes came from and then says that he has to go to work. Later, we see Mickey waiting for Ian outside his work, he asks Ian where he's been and if he has any money on him, Ian says that he has a few bucks, but Mickey says they need more than that. Suddenly, an old guy in a car pulls up to them and asks to "take [them] on a ride around the block", Mickey yells at the guy, insults him and throws a bottle at his car, he then asks Ian if rich guys often talk to him that way, and Ian says "Every night", Mickey then gets an idea and tells Ian to call in sick for his shift that night. Later that night, Lip asks Mandy if Ian seems okay, he says he is worried about him, but Mandy says he seems to be on drugs but will probably be fine.

We then see Ian at a fancy hotel seductively drinking a martini, he then goes up to a rich looking guy and tells him that he has a room upstairs and to meet him up there. We see that in the room Ian and the guy have most of their clothes off, and just as the guy is about to hook up with Ian, Mickey comes out from inside a closet, takes a picture of him, and punches him. They then take some of his cash and valuables, and the guy says that he will call the police on them but Mickey says if he does so, he will show that picture to the guys wife and kids. The guy then tells Mickey, "If you're gonna take my money, the least you can do is have the twink suck me off.", Ian laughs knowing what Mickey will probably do next. Mickey then tells the guy "That's all you think he is? some twink?", the guy responds"He gave me blue balls" Mickey then kicks the guy in the balls and says "Did he? Now they're black and blue balls". The next morning, Mickey comes downstairs and is eating breakfast, Lip says "Make yourself at home" and Mickey then puts money down on the table contributing to the Gallagher squirrel fund. Ian then walks into the kitchen and asks Lip if he wants to join him on a run, Lip says no and jokes with him a bit, but Ian doesn't react. Lip then asks him if he has given any more thought to going back to high school, Ian doesn't respond and instead asks Lip what he thinks of the business side of online gaming, and is continuing to ramble on and strangely laughing at things, telling lip he has tons of ideas, he later asks Lip if he's sure he doesn't want to join him for an 8 mile run and Lip says he's good, you can see that he's a bit weirded out and concerned by Ians behaviour, Ian then leaves and the camera shows Mickey who also seems concerned but also trying to pretend like nothings going on. Later Mickey goes to the Alibi and Svetlana tells him the name of their son which is Yevgeny, Mickey makes fun of the name and then plops down a roll of cash telling Svetlana that they're even. Svetlana tells Mickey to come home and he says "Wasn't part of the deal", when Svetlana pushes for Mickey to go home, he threatens her saying "You breathe a fucking word about what you think you know, [and] I promise you, you're kids gonna be an orphan.", Svetlana though then tells him "Come home or else". Mickey then comes back into the Milkovich house where one of Svetlana's coworkers asks him if he is going to watch the baby, at first Mickey doesn't say anything but then he looks at the kid and says "No". He goes into his room gets a pillowcase and packs some of his things, clothes and etc. into it to take to the Gallagher house, solidifying that he is moving in with Ian. He goes into the washroom to get some other things where he sees Mandy who has clearly been abused by her boyfriend Kenyatta, she closes the door and Mickey looks down worried and anxious.

In episode 10 "Liver, I Hardly Know Her", Mickey comes into the kitchen and sees that Ian is making homemade pancakes for breakfast, he asks him "What fucking time did you wake up?" and Ian says he woke up at 5 am, Mickey is concerned since he got home from work at 3 am, and Ian says that he had a lot of energy and that he went for a run early in the morning. He is very energetic and goes to Mickey to show him a photo of a sunrise he took that morning saying how nice it looks. Mickey responds saying "Yea, thats real nice, must really clear your mind watching a sunrise after a long night of gargling old man balls", Ian jokingly responds "mhm" and Mickey and him laugh about it. Mickey gives Ian some money saying "Pancakes are on me", Ian says that he thought Mickey was broke but Mickey says "Nah man I just got a baby mama, with her fucking hand in my pocket". Debbie then comes downstairs telling Ian that Fiona didn't come home last night which is concerning since she is on probation, Mickey gives her advice saying not to call the police, and Ian says he will call hospitals when Debbie is at school, we also see that Mandy is staying at the Gallaghers, as well. Mandy has a lot of bruising on her face from Kenyatta and Ian says that he told Mickey she could stay here and he tells Mandy "You're not going back by the way, We'll find you some place to live okay?". Mickey says why should she leave, since it's their house and Debbie then presses Ian telling him to call hospitals, Mickey finds a shiv which Debbie was looking for and she grabs it from him, as she is leaving Ian says "13 years old, she's bringing a shiv to class" Mickey then says "Man, I miss high school". Throughout the rest of the day, Ian, Lip, Carl and Debbie continue searching for Fiona, where Ian is still acting very strange, rambling about irrelevant things etc. At one point Lip says that Fiona could be dead in a ditch and Ian says "Just 'cause Fiona's gone doesn't mean she's hurt. I mean, when I joined the Army, I just needed to get away for a little while".

Later Ian and Debbie continue looking for Fiona, meanwhile Mickey is handling business at the Rub n Tug. Kev is notified that Mickey has taken cash from the register, and goes to confront him about it, Mickey says that it was his money he took, and Kev questions this, and Mickey says that he was owed that money from last week and now there's a finders fee, since Kev is charging for rent, he is charging for the girls. Kev then points a gun at Mickey (the same gun he had previously gotten from Mickey in episode 7) and tells him to empty his pockets, Mickey says "Are you robbing me with my own fucking gun?" and Kev continues telling him that he needs to give him the money, Mickey tells him "You better do yourself a favour and put a bullet in my chest, cause if you don't, you're in serious shit". Kev continues pressing him and takes the money from him to which Mickey tells him it was a big mistake, he then tells Svetlana that he is a dead man. The next morning Ian is making breakfast and telling Mickey that Kev is a friend and he cant beat him up. Mickey tells Ian that he robbed him with his own gun therefore he isn't a friend and tells Ian that he's going to go to his house to meet up with his brothers, grab some assault rifles and then go to Kev's house. Ian tells Mickey that he won't let him do this but Mickey ignores him saying "Yea, okay, tough guy", "Oh, Mickey, come the fuck on!". For the rest of the day Kevin is on edge, worried Mickey will go after him. Ian and Mickey go to the Milkovich house, where Ian continues telling him to just talk it out with Kev, when they walk into the house though, they see that Mandy is back at the house making lunch for Kenyatta. Mickey asks her what she's doing back with him, since yesterday he wanted her dead. Ian then calmly tells her "Mandy he hit you, in the face" but Mandy insists he didn't and she only said that cause she was angry and drunk and that she fell, Ian is obviously very skeptical, Mickey then goes into his room, and Ian goes up to Mandy in the kitchen whispering to Mandy so Kenyatta doesn't hear, he tells her "Mandy, we need to get you out of here right now. I promised I was gonna get you some place safe, away from him, okay?" Mandy tells Ian to go, pushing him, but Ian is holding her telling her she cant stand for this. Amongst this chaos of the two fighting, Mickey comes into the kitchen and Mandy slaps Ian, Kenyatta gets up to approach the two, and this is when Ian takes a knife that was sitting on the counter of the kitchen and holds it up to Kenyatta's throat, pinning him against a wall with the knife to his throat. Mickey yells from a far telling Ian to relax, then comes up to Ian and calmly says "Ian, look at me, we're cool, Everything's cool." Ian looks at Mickey, freezes and takes a few breaths while Mickey gently takes the knife from his hand. He then tells Ian that they're leaving and the two leave the house together. Ian is catching his breath against a fence and Mickey comes up to him saying "Hey! What the fucks going on with you? huh? One minute you're like Superman, running around, making pancakes, taking pictures of the goddamn sunrise. The next thing, you wanna cut somebody's throat. You smoking meth or something?" Ian doesn't say anything and instead checks a notification he got on his phone, Mickey then tells him "Yeah, please, check your phone, I'll just yell at the fucking wall". Ian finds out Frank is in critical condition and goes to the hospital where Sheila and Frank get married and Frank then receives a liver.

Mickey tells Ian it's best if he doesn't go to the Christening
In the penultimate episode of season 4 "Emily", Carl wakes up gets down from his bed and looks at Mickey who is sleeping on Ians twin bed. Carl then goes up to Ian who is doing pull ups in the door way of Fiona's room, Carl asks Ian "[Is] Mickey your boyfriend?" Ian says "We hang out", Carl responds "He's in your bed", and Ian says "Yea, his family's a nightmare" Carl tells Ian how he thinks he has a girlfriend (referring to Bonnie) and how her family's a nightmare too. Carl then asks Ian if he loves Mickey, and Ian says "I like how he smells", (later in the episode Carl smells Bonnie and smiles referencing this conversation). Mickey wakes up hearing this and asks Carl "What you asking stupid fucking questions for?" and Carl says he liked Mickey better when he was asleep. Mickey goes to the washroom and Ian comes up to the door, Mickey tells Ian that he has to go over to the church for his sons Christening, Ian says "[I] thought you didn't care?", Mickey says he doesn't but its his son. Ian says alright, and tells Mickey that he's going to get dressed to go with him, Mickey tells him to not come, and that he can go by himself and that he will be back in a few hours. Ian then grabs Mickey pushing him against a wall and says "What you don't want me to go?" Mickey then. pushes Ian against a wall and says "Probably best if you don't tough guy" Ian then says "Yea, for you maybe" and Mickey says "Why are you busting my balls man". Mickey then goes into Ians room to get dressed, Ian follows him and grabs him again asking "Just wondering, if we're a couple or not?" Mickey grabs Ian and pushes him onto the bed saying "Of course we are.", "A couple that hides?". Mickey tells Ian that so far them hiding their relationship has been working out but Ian says he's getting sick of it. Mickey then tells Ian "Why don't you let me deal with that stupid shit (Yevgeny's Christening) before I deal with your stupid shit", Mickey then leaves, and Ian remains on the bed looking up and fidgeting with his hands, unconvinced of Mickey's response.

Mickey then shows up to the church where Yevgeny's baptism is happening, there is a "Welcome Home Terry" sign in front of the church and Mickey asks if Terry has arrived yet, to which his brothers say no as he is just being picked up from prison then. He enters the church where Svetlana is waiting for him and Terry. Mickey asks "This hasn't even started yet?" and Svetlana responds saying he is late, Mickey tells her that he's here now and to start the ceremony quickly, Svetlana says that they have to wait for his father but Mickey says that he doesn't care about the ceremony and that he will be there for the after party. Svetlana tells Mickey that Terry told her that he cares about the ceremony and wants to be there, Mickey questions this asking "You talked to him?", "Almost everyday, we've become very close.", "God, that is so sick, are you gonna start banging him again too?". The Priest tells the two that they have to start soon but Svetlana says it's important that the whole family is there for the baptism, Mickey makes fun of this saying "Or what? it didn't really happen?". Just then the doors of the church dramatically open and Svetlana says "See? It's good we wait." however it's revealed that Ian is the one that opened the doors. Mickey looks at him and Svetlana asks "What the hell is he doing here?" Mickey says he doesn't know, and that they have to start soon, the priest agrees and Svetlana angrily says "Fine". As they begin the baptism, Mickey has turned his head away from their child and towards Ian and is only looking over at him. Svetlana is furiously looking at the two of them, Mickey notices this and starts ashamedly looking at the ground and at the baptism.

Later, we see that everyone is at an after party for the Christening at the Alibi, where Kev is being especially nice to Mickey by making him his plate of food, in order to settle their feud from last episode. Mickey is confused and walks away from their conversation, when suddenly Svetlana comes up to him telling him "Tell your boyfriend to leave" Mickey, who is clearly very stressed out, asks her "What the fuck are you talking about?" Svetlana points to Ian who is sitting at the bar fidgeting with peanuts, she tells Mickey "Tell him to leave or I will", Mickey says all right and goes up to Ian. He tells him "Look, Svetlana wants you to go.", "[Do] you want me to go?", "No I don't want you to go, But the whole things going to go a lot easier if you do." Ian laughs and says "Yea, for you maybe, what about me?" Mickey then asks him "[Is] this really where you want to spend your day off?" Ian responds saying "You're here." Mickey looks around a bit and says "Give me a couple of hours, I'll meet you back at your place.", "If you make me leave, don't come over" Mickey then turns around and goes closer to Ian asking "Why the fuck you acting like a girl huh?" Ian responds saying "I'm sick of living a lie aren't you?" Mickey says he's not lying to him but Ian says that he's talking about everyone else. "Who gives a shit about everybody else? What fucking difference does it make if I lie to them?" Ian then smacks the table stands up and says "Because, you're not free" Mickey then looks Ian in the eyes and says "Ian, what you and I have makes me free. Not what these assholes know". Just then, Terry bursts in through the door having just been released from prison and entering the after party, Mickey immediately turns and walks away from Ian saying "Shit" quietly under his breath, hoping his father did not just see him and Ian interact. Mickey now has to pretend he and Ian aren't in a relationship and go back to putting up this fake facade for his father. Ian simply just looks at Terry and the relative who brought him from behind, with sadness. Mickey has ran to Svetlana to grab Yevgeny from her, She then looks at Mickey and says "Look at scared little boy, running to daddy." Mickey is distressed and anxious and looks at her saying "Eat me" he then turns around pretends to be happy to see his father and hands Yevgeny to his dad, Mickey is smiling and looking at his father while their relatives and friends gather around them, Ian is harrowingly looking over at them, upset seeing Mickey pretend to be happy to see Terry, and essentially be living a lie, pretending to be happy with Svetlana to appease his father. Ian continues looking at the crowd that has formed around Terry, he watches as all of them take a shot and sees that for a second when no one is looking and Mickey is taking the shot his smile drops showing his misery. Kev notices how anxious and upset Ian looks and gives him a shot, winking at him, signalling to him that he knows that he and Mickey are together.
Mickey comes out to everyone
Later Terry is telling a story about how he beat a gay person up in jail. Svetlana, then goes close to Mickey and says "Speaking of queers" she then sits next to him, Mickey asks her what she's doing and she responds saying "I thought your father should know he didn't beat all the queer out of you. He's really gonna kill you this time", Mickey gets angry, stands up, and grabs the bottle she's drinking, out of her hand, he says "Keep your fucking mouth shut", Ian then goes up to Mickey and asks if they can talk for a minute. Before Mickey goes to talk to him, he tells Svetlana, "You know your life, right here, right now, is as good as it's ever gonna get. You got to go get plowed all day, yeah, but you come home to a roof over your head and food in your fucking belly. Five years from now, you're gonna be a used up dried up old whore, sucking guys off on the sidewalk for five bucks a pop. I wouldn't fuck this up if you I were you." essentially threatening her by telling her that she too benefits from their situation and her telling his dad would ruin everything for her. Mickey then goes up to Ian, who tells him that he is leaving Mickey, says okay and that he will meet him back at his place. Ian responds to this saying "No, don't. We're done." Mickey asks him what the fuck he's talking about Ian says "I don't have any interest in being a mistress anymore", Mickey then asks him when he got so dramatic and Ian says "When I realised what a pussy you are.", "Say it again, I'm gonna kick you're fucking ass", Ian then taunts him saying "Oh come on, come on big guy. You think you're a tough man? You're not. You're a coward." Mickey tells Ian "Fuck you, you don't understand this-" but Ian cuts him off saying "Oh, I do understand, I understand better than anyone that you're afraid of your father. You're afraid of your wife. You're afraid to be who you are." Ian is pointing right at Mickeys chest. Ian then starts putting on his jacket to go, and Mickey is telling him "Well good, leave, the hell do I care, bitch?". Ian continues trying to leave and doesn't turn around, Mickey realises how serious Ian is, and that he could lose him forever, he mumbles fuck under his breath and is looking around extremely distressed. Mickey then taps on the counter and yells at the entirety of the bar saying "Hey! Excuse me! Can I get everybody's attention please?" the music stops and everyone is looking at Mickey, including Ian who is halfway out of the door to leave, but stops to look at Mickey wondering what he's about to say. Mickey then says "I just want everybody here to know, I'm fucking gay." Ian is completely shocked and Mickey continues saying "Big ole' mo, just thought everybody should know that." Ian then takes a step back inside the bar and continues looking at Mickey speechless, Svetlana also looks at Mickey in shock. Mickey then looks at Ian and says "You happy now?", Ian is still speechless though. The music comes back on and people largely ignore what just happened, Mickey looks around a bit before Terry starts yelling saying that he's going to kill him. He starts attacking Mickey and beating him up, Mickey at first is fighting back but when Terry takes him to the ground, Ian goes towards them and says "I've been wanting to do this forever", he then starts beating Terry up to get him off of Mickey. Ian is attacking Terry until all of the sudden, one of the Milkovich relatives hits him in the back with a chair. Ian then tries to tackle them and a huge brawl breaks out, until the priest then calls the police.

We then see Terry and Mickey getting dragged away by police officers. The police officers put both of them against cars to arrest them, and Terry is fighting back and yelling. Terry is calling Mickey slurs and telling him that he won't let him stay in his house, Mickey responds to him saying "Fuck you! Don't worry about it! I've been staying at Ians, since you've been in the can, bitch! Guess what we've been doing, Daddy?! We've been fucking" Mickey then starts pretending to bang the car and continues on saying "And I take it! He gives it to me good and hard, and I fucking like it" Terry starts yelling out but Mickey continues saying "Fuck you! I suck his dick, I fucking love it!" Terry continues yelling and threatening Mickey but the police officers tell him to calm down and put him back into prison only 4 hours after getting out for breaking his probation and getting into a fight. The police officer arresting Mickey though takes off his handcuffs and tells him that he is free to go, Mickey is confused but the officer says that if he arrests him its gonna be a lot of paperwork and he would rather go back home to his husband. As the police take away Terry, Ian flips him off. Later Ian and Mickey are leaning on two cars, both covered in blood and injured from the fight. One of Mickey's relatives comes up to the two looks at them and then asks Mickey "Gay huh?" and walks away, showing that they don't even care that much. Mickey then tells Ian "I think I broke half a fucking tooth" Ian is drinking and passes the flask over to Mickey telling him "Yea, my ribs don't feel so good". Ian then looks at Mickey and asks "So you really came out huh?", "Doesn't mean I'm gonna wear a fucking dress or anything.", "Nobody fucking asked you too", Ian then jokes with him saying "Though you do have really nice legs", Mickey then laughs and says "You're a fucking dick". The two then laugh and Ian holds his ribs saying "ow" as he's laughing, Mickey tells him that's what he gets and they continues laughing on. Ian then goes over to Mickey, holds him, and kisses him on the head.

The next morning we see Ian and Mickey waking up naked in Mickeys bed together. Ian has his arms wrapped around Mickey, Mickey wakes up and sees Ian arm, smiles, and he gently takes it off of him as to not wake Ian up. Mickey then sits on the bed and looks back at Ian, putting his hands through his hair. Mickey then gets up and gets dressed. leaving the room, where Ian is still sleeping on his bed. Mickey enters the living room of his house and grabs a Marlboro to smoke. We then see Svetlana sitting with her back against Mickey saying 'So you are Rainbow boy now?", we can see that Svetlana has died her hair red. Mickey asks what she did to her hair but Svetlana ignores this and instead gets up and goes to Mickey showing that she is wearing a fake strap on dildo. Mickey then (rightfully) freaks out and says "What the fuck?" Svetlana then says "So you like the penis yes?", Mickey responds "Not when there's tits directly above it!" Svetlana keeps asking "You want it up your poop place?", Mickey is freaking out and saying "No I don't... want you.. fucking... I want you to put it away. Can you put that away? Put that fucking thing away please". Svetlana then takes it off and asks Mickey "You love him?" Mickey then says "Maybe, I don't know". Mickey and Svetlana then keep talking and Svetlana goes on a monologue where she says that she may be a lesbian and that a girl named Nika is going to move in with them, through her monologue she talks about how if Mickey is into Ian that's fine, and that America is the land of choices, however their baby doesn't have a choice, the baby is both of them, she tells Mickey no more bullshit about the baby and that he has to help.

Later in the day, Mickey goes up to Ian who is still sleeping on the bed, he tells him that it's noon and to get up saying "Rise and shine cinderella". Mickey tells him that he's heading to get some hot dogs and opens up the curtains, Ian though turns away from the window and pulls the blanket over himself. Mickey continues pressing him saying "Yo, sleepy-face, get your ass up, man, it's time to roll", Ian then indistinctly mumbles something, Mickey says "What's that mumbles?" and gets on the bed, lying close to Ian and says "Come on, get up, I'm buying". Mickey then gets worried as he isn't responding, he tells Ian "Hey. Hey, you okay? feeling sick or something?", Mickey then tries pulling the blanket off Ians face but Ian tells him to leave him alone, and puts the blanket over himself again. Mickey then asks if he wants him to bring him something back to eat, but Ian continues being unresponsive so Mickey leaves, Mandy then asks if Ian is okay and Mickey says "Who the fuck knows?".
Mickey then goes to the Alibi where he sits next to Tommy and Kermit. Kev asks him How he is but Mickey just asks how business is upstairs, referring to the Rub n Tug. Kev says it's cold so it's been a bit slow. Everyone is a bit quiet and then Tommy asks "How's business downstairs, Mick?", Kev gives him a weird look and Mickey looks over at him angry saying "That a fucking gay joke?" Tommy says "I don't know, was it funny?" Mickey says "No it wasn't funny", Mickey then gets up in front of the bar and says "Hey, if anybody's got something to say, fucking say it!". Everyone in the bar is simply silent but then Kev breaks the silence and he, V, Tommy and Kermit talk about other famous people who are gay, talking about it casually, Mickey just looks at them and then Kev says "Mickey, Have a seat man, No one gives a shit who you bang. Let me buy you a beer". Mickey then takes a seat and Kev raises a glass saying "To butt buddies, may they long slam and slap" and the entire bar yells "To butt buddies!". Mickey looks around seeing the support but also mainly the fact that no one really cares as much as he thought they would.
Debbie, Carl and Mickey try to find out what is going on with Ian
Mickey then goes back home and into the room where Ian is, he says "Yo, it's after 5 you trying to set some sort of record?" Ian doesn't respond so Mickey throws a pillow at him saying "You're not still sleeping get up". Ian is still on the bed, the blanket covering most of his body he tells Mickey to leave him alone. Mickey then tries to calm down asking him "Ian, are you high? You take something?" Ian then tells him to "Go away", and we can see tears falling down his face, however he is faced away from Mickey so he cant see. Mickey says "Okay, you want me to call the club at least, and tell them-" but Ian cuts him off yelling "Jesus, Leave me alone!", Mickey looks confused and leaves the room, we can see that Mandy is also in the door frame and we hear Mickey ask her "Fucks wrong with him?". Later, Mickey shows up at the Gallaghers, asking if Lip is at home, (knowing he and Ian are the closest), Carl tells him that Lip is at college, he sees that Mickey looks anxious and asks if something is wrong. We then see Debbie and Carl show up at the Milkovich house where Mickey takes them into his and Ians room to show them what is going on with him. Debbie sees him and immediately looks worried. Debbie tries talking to him asking him if he's okay, Ian quietly whispers "Go away", Mickey looks very worried at this point, and everyone is gathered around the door to their room. Mickey anxiously asks Debbie, "Do you know what this is?" and Debbie responds in a very sad tone "Yea, we know what this is".

The next morning, Carl, Liam and Debbie wake up and see Fiona downstairs, after she had been gone for a while, they all hug and begin crying. Fiona then tells them that they have to get moving, but see how sad Debbie and Carl look, she asks them "What?", she continues seeing how concerned they are, and asks worriedly "God, what?". We then see them all in the Milkovich house. Fiona is sitting on the bed right next to Ian asking him if he wants her to make him a sandwich, or if he wants to go on a run with her. Ian continues being unresponsive and Fiona is continuing to press him "You want to go for a run get some fresh air?", he continues not saying anything so Fiona puts the blanket over his shoulders rubs them and says "Okay, okay". She leaves the bedroom and signals to everyone to follow her into the living room, she looks very concerned. Mandy shuts the bedroom door and Fiona asks Mickey How long he's been like that, Mickey responds "Since yesterday morning.", "And he hasn't gotten out of bed?", "No, he's just sleeping, I can't get him up I tried", Mandy chimes in saying she tried as well. Fiona asks what he was like before and Mickey says "Before, he was fine. He was happy. He's staying up all hours of the night, dancing, telling fucking jokes. He kicks my ass everyday, I cant keep up with him". Fiona looks more worried and tells Debbie, "We gotta get ahold of Lip, he should know." Mickey asks "Know what? What's wrong with him?" Fiona says he thinks it's depression. Mickey responds laughing uncomfortably saying "He.. he's depressed? What do you mean he's depressed, We all get fucking depressed. how the fuck could we not, living around here?" Fiona though says "It's not that kind of depressed okay?", she gets more serious and says "Look, I could be wrong, but it could be bipolar disease like our mom", Mikey looks confused and asks her what that is, Mandy calms him down and says "It's manic depression, Mick" Fiona continues explaining saying "It's like high highs followed by low lows, over and over again". Mickey looks very stressed and worried as Fiona continues saying how they can get him an appointment at the clinic to get him diagnosed and see what they say. Mickey says "No, no, look, he.. he's low. We cheer him up." Fiona tells him that it's not like that and that "He may have to be hospitalised" Mickey questions this saying "What do you mean hospitalised? Like a psych ward?" Fiona doesn't respond and Mikey continues saying "No fucking way! No fucking way!" He's staying here!". Fiona tells Mickey that he could end up suicidal, and Mickey says "Then we hide the knives until he perks up". Mickey continues going on saying "I can take care of him. Okay, let me take care of him until he's better". Fiona tries talking to him saying that it could be weeks, and how its mood swings and almost impossible to handle, Mickey gets angry saying "Don't fucking tell me what's impossible!" he calms down a bit saying "We're taking care of him here, You, me, us. He's fucking family". Fiona then tells everyone that she has to go and tells them to call Lip to tell him what's going on. Mickey then looks at them and says "He's not going to some fucking nut house. You hear me? He stays here. He's staying with me".

Ian Continues Showing Bipolar Symptoms[]

Ian and Mickey are officially dating in Season 5 and are living at the Milkovich house along with Svetlana and Nika, Mandy, Kenyatta and many of Mickey's brothers and cousins who are in and out of the house. Some time has passed since last season, with it being summer now.
Ian has gone searching for fans in the garage and brings a few to the house. Svetlana has warmed up to Ian, asking him what eggs he wants joking a bit with each other etc. Mickey, Ian, and Svetlana are all in a sort of co-parenting situation with Yevgeny and we can see that Svetlana is pregnant but this time it is for surrogate parents. Mickey is dressed in business casual attire for a new job he is doing, meanwhile, he is still running the Rub n Tug. Svetlana and Mickey are on their way out and Svetlana kisses Mickey on the cheek, he doesn't look too stoked but then when Ian kisses him he seems very happy. Mickey tells him to meet him later and Ian says he will be there, with Mickey and Svetlana gone, Ian is taking care of Yevgeny and going to the grocery store. As Mickey is walking out of the house Ian stares at him very lovingly.

Later Fiona and Ian are on a run, and Fiona asks him if he ever got a chance to call a doctor, Ian questions this and Fiona says "from the clinic", Ian says no and that he's okay, Fiona encourages him to go see a doctor saying the best time to go is when he feels good and okay. Ian asks why this is and Fiona says to have a plan of action for when things aren't so good. Ian says that it was just a one time thing, and Fiona tells him it would be better for a doctor to tell him that, and to do a few tests as well, Ian tells her "Look, I don't have what Monica has", Fiona says "I know, it just seemed familiar, mood swings, depression." Ian blames it on the coke at the club, saying that it makes you go crazy, he tells her that he's cut way back on it. Fiona tells her that's good but odds are one of them is gonna get it, and that it's not their fault it's just genetics Russian roulette, Ian ignores her though. Later, we see that Mickey's new business is a moving company where they instead sell all of the furniture they are asked to move. We also see Ian go shopping with Yev, and Liam where Kev asks him for baby advice. At the store, a guy is checking Ian out, Kev asks if he's okay with it and Ian says it's fine. Ian then jerks him off behind a car door. Later in the episode he also gets head via a guy that works at Patsy's Pies, the restaurant Fiona works at, these are all due to the side effect of hyper sexuality, a side effect of untreated Bipolar Disorder. We see Ian pick Mickey up after his business transactions of selling the moving truck, he seems very happy to see Ian. Lip asks Fiona if Ian ever went to see the doctor and Fiona says he refuses to go and Lip suggests that they talk to Mickey.

Later in the episode Fiona and Lip go to see Mickey telling him that they have to talk. Mickey asks what about and they ask him if he can make Ian go see a doctor. Mickey tells them "He's not sick anymore" and Lip says "But he will be" Mickey says that they don't know that and Fiona says if he's anything like their mother he will be. Mickey asks what the doctor will do to him and Fiona and Lip respond saying the doctor would do a mental health assessment, prescribe him some meds etc. Mickey then says "Yea, see you said that before. That's the fucked up part. Why are we giving him meds if he's not sick?". Fiona and Lip respond telling Mickey this would help Ians mania not be so crazy and that he won't be depressed for long, Fiona tries comparing it to the last time Ian was depressed but Mickey has to go do something and tells them to hold up. Mickey then comes back up to Lip and Fiona telling them "All right, let's say, he gets like depressed or manic or whatever the fuck, how do we know it's not just from living in this shithole ghetto?". Lip tells Mickey that Ian has signs of Bipolar disorder, Mickey ask "like what" and they respond saying "Recklessness, impulsiveness, fast-talking, barely sleeping, hyper sexuality." Mickey then asks "Hyper sexuality? you mean horny? what 17 year old gay kid isn't horny?", Mickey does seem concerned however he also doesn't want to destroy the recently established happy relationship he and Ian have going on.

Later at night, we see Ian lying awake meanwhile Mickey is sleeping on their bed, Ian asks if he's awake and Mickey wakes up saying "I am now", Ian tells him that he can't sleep and Mickey asks "Again?" as Ian is getting closer and closer to Mickey he flips him around asking him "Why? you gotta a problem with that?", the two then begin to tease each other pushing each other around a bit and playfully fighting a bit. Later Ian shows up to a Gallagher pool party and everyone is happy to see him, Fiona asks where Mickey is and Ian winks and says "I wore him out".
In the next episode "I'm the Liver", Ian is getting dressed, when Svetlana comes in asking him if he can take Yevgeny on a run, Ian says he's sorry but he can't and that he has to go to a funeral. Svetlana asks who the funeral is for and Mickey tells her that it's for a guy Ian doesn't know, Ian says that the guy is a "brother in arms" and that's all that he needs to know, Mickey says he will go with him. Svetlana asks Mickey if he can take Yevgeny to the funeral but he turns her down. Mickey tells Ian that the guy didn't even die in a war and that it's not that important they go, but Ian says that the guy died serving his country therefore they must go. Mickey then asks Ian to at the very least not wear his uniform since every Military Police [MP] officer is looking for him, but Ian aggressively responds "He's a soldier, he deserves our God damn respect.", Mickey looks at him slightly concerned at his manic tone. It's noteworthy in that this episode, Svetlana tells Kev that "My husband has no interest in baby. Orange boy, he helps", further showcasing that within Ian's mindset, Yev is almost like his and Mickey's baby.

At the funeral, we see that there is a big crowd of homophobic protestors loudly yelling next to the ceremony. Everyone, Ian and Mickey included are trying to not pay attention to it, but Ian eventually gets extremely angry yelling "Jesus Christ, What the fuck is wrong with you people?", Mickey tells him "Ian, you are in uniform, you are wanted by MP's can you not make a fucking-(scene)" but Ian has stormed off towards the crowd of protestors. Mickey chases after him trying to get him to not make a scene and to relax, Ian continues yelling at them to shut the fuck up, and he grabs a wooden cross out of the ground, Mickey is asking him what he's doing, Ian though is not paying attention at all, and is just storming off angry towards the crowd. Mickey is trying to get him to stop by holding him back, but then a Military Officer comes up to him asking him if he's okay and that he can't wear the uniform and wield a cross as a weapon. Ian continues to stay mad but the Officer tells him that he hates these protestors as well, but Ian needs to relax or he will call his commanding officer he then asks "It's Gallagher? is it?" Mickey though sees the threat that this could propose with the MPs and so he tells the guy "We're good, we're good, thank you, I got him, I got him". Mickey then separates Ian from the crowd and the Officer, he then whispers to him "Stop. You want to fuck them up? then we need a plan, we can do more damage if we have a plan lets go home and make one." Ian tries to approach the crowd but Mickey is trying to get him to relax and to go home.

Later Ian and Mickey go home, and as intense music is playing the background, Ian is storming and racing around the house looking for full automatic weapons, he asks Mickey if they have any and he shrugs his shoulders, at this point Mickey seems concerned as Ian is showing some seriously manic behaviour. Ian knocks on Kenyatta's door, and asks him if he has any armour piercing ammo, he is shaking and seems very hyper and aggressive as when Kenyatta asks him why he needs the ammo, Ian goes up to his face saying "Cause' I fucking need some, that's why." Kenyatta tells Mickey "Yo, you need to get your bitch in line man". Ian then goes up to Mickey's face and says that he can call some of his military friends who are sick of this shit "And then [they'll] burn down that whole fucking church with all the homophobic trash inside", Mickey just nods his head seeing how irritable and reckless Ian is acting. Mandy then tells Mickey "[Ian] is freaking out.", "You think?" Mandy then asks "Is he on something?" and Mickey says "I fucking wish", showing that Mickey is terrified to admit that Ian might be very mentally ill and needs help. Mandy suggests they call Fiona and Mickey says that she cant stop him from going postal on the protestors but Mandy says that "Well, I think he's sick and she's dealt with this before", Mickey responds saying "She'll send him to a fucking shrink. No, we fix this ourselves.". He then tells Ian he has a plan.
Mickey's plan is to have Mandy lure the pastor that runs the homophobic protests and church into their home, by getting him drunk (although, Mandy doesn't even have to get him drunk, he just gives in immediately), once the pastor is at their house, Mandy will continue acting hysterical crying about how her brother chose the sin of homosexuality over their family, eventually she will go to give him a blowjob, it's bad enough that she is underage but midway through they will swap out for one of Ian's Military friends to go in and continue the act. They execute this plan perfectly to a T and the pastor freaks out seeing he was receiving a BJ from a man, Ian takes a photo and blasts it all over social media telling him, "What are you gonna tell the press, Pastor? you thought you were getting blown by a teenage girl?". Mickey has successfully calmed down Ians mania this episode, but will it keep getting worse?
Mickey and Ian chat as Ian is cleaning their house
In episode 3, the "Rub n Tug" gets shut down by the cops for the 3rd time that month, Frank then brings some beer that he has made and Mickey taste tests it along with many others at the bar. Later, when Mickey comes home he sees Ian throwing a bunch of stuff out in garbage bags and in the lawn, as Mickey is coming, Ian waves at him but doesn't acknowledge that what he's doing is strange, and keeps going along as if what he is doing is normal. Mickey comes in questioning why he is throwing out all his things. Ian says "What's it look like I'm doing?" Mickey says "It look likes like your throwing out all my shit.", "Yea, when's the last time you cleaned? I found a bunch of dead roaches in that light fixture and rat turds the size of raisinettes, I cleaned your bathroom too". Mickey looks a bit concerned saying "Jesus Christ, Ian" but Ian says "You got a problem with your boyfriend cleaning the layer of scum from the tub that your wife washes your child in?", Mickey then tells Ian that the Rub n Tug got shut down, and Ian ask where they can get money from now, and Mickey says "I don't know, I would sell Svetlana's ass if she wasn't already renting out her guest room", Ian jokingly replies "Don't you mean guest womb? hmm?". All of the sudden Mandy and Kenyatta come bursting in, Mandy is yelling about how she doesn't want to move to Indiana but Kenyatta says they have to because of his new job. Mickey tells her she better not be moving and she says that there isn't anything for her here in Chicago, Ian then tells her there is better options here, and that they can figure something out but she isn't listening and she goes in her room to start packing. Ian then tells Mickey that they have to stop her, and that he will try to stop her from going. Ian then tells Lip about Mandy's plans and tries to tell him to really let his feeling out with her. Unfortunately though, Mandy does end up moving with Kenyatta.
In the next episode, Mickey is receiving a suitcase from airport security, Ian wakes up, asking what the suitcase is and Mickey says that the airport finally found his luggage, Ians confused but Mickey signals to him to play along and Ian reluctantly does so, pretending that he is the rightful owner of it, when it does not belong to him. They both open it up together, and examine what is inside. Mickey grabs a Hawaiian shirt from the luggage (this ends up being a bit of a running bit of Mickey enjoying Hawaiian shirts). They also find some medication in the bag, and Ian suggests googling it to find out what it does, Mickey though grabs some and says he can just take it and tell him, he says he's gonna take it with a beer and asks Ian if he wants any and he says he will take some too, he then looks at the luggage seemingly as if he has an idea.

The next day, Mickey wakes up and notices Ian is already awake and in a very nice suit, Mickey asks him what he's wearing and Ian says "Oh this, just something I threw on", Mickey seems very confused, and then comes in the living room where he sees a few suitcases, Mickey asks Ian what the fuck is going on, and he says that Mickeys suitcase situation gave him an idea and he went by the airport and got a bunch of unchecked luggage, he shows Mickey some of the cool stuff in the luggage, like expensive rums, electric shavers, clothes etc. he then pulls out a plastic dildo toy and Mickey says that if he touches him with that he's dead, but Ian is playing around with it chasing Mickey through the house pretending like he's fencing and laughing as he throws it onto Mickey. Later that night, Mickey comes by the house, to see it absolutely packed with suitcases, Ian is running around sorting everything into different sections mumbling and not making sense, Mickey asks him if he went back to the airport and Ian says "Yea, why not?" and Mickey says "Cause' it's fucking risky is why not", Mickey then tells him that all this stuff isn't worth it and they can make money in better ways. Ian though is just mumbling to himself and not making sense. Mickey asks him if he's listening to him but Ian just goes inside, Mickey from outside then asks why he's putting everything on the porch, Mickey comes in to see the house is just overflowing with all these supplies, Ian is freaking out as well saying stuff like "Why are there boots in the sneakers pile? we gotta keep this organised okay?" Mickey looks extremely concerned as Ian is running around talking to himself. Svetlana looks at Mickey and says "Your boyfriends losing his shit", Ian asks Mickey to help him keep everything organised but Mickey is stunned looking at all of the suitcases and Ians agitated state, Mickey looks very upset and concerned.
In episode 5 "Rite of Passage", Mickey comes into his and Ians room where Ian is sleeping, Ian wakes up smiling and says good morning, but Mickey seems very serious saying "I need to talk to you." Ian then tells him "I don't feel like talking" and immediately goes to unbuckle his pants, Mickey though is persisting that he needs to talk to him when suddenly Iggy, comes in. Mickey tells him if he ever comes into his room without knocking again, he will "aim [his] ruger in [his] fat fucking face and empty the clip", Iggy says "Looks like the only place your aiming is down your boyfriends throat", he gives him a pack of smokes and shows him a wanted poster, when Mickey asks who its for, Iggy says "You, stupid", Mickey is concerned now and Ian grabs it from his hand, Iggy asks "What's with all the suitcases", and Mickey tells him to leave. Ian tells him that the poster doesn't look anything like him and no one is gonna be busting down their door, Mickey says he knows that but now there's too much heat to be doing the moving truck scam. Ian tries giving him ideas like doing sports betting, and odds but Mickey is disappointed and says "Cops can kiss my ass", Ian then says "Why don't I don it instead" and starts going down on him, which Mickey enjoys.

Later in the day, Mickey goes to see Lip at the construction site he is working for in the summer, where he asks Tommy if he wats to place any MLB bets, he then asks Lip "What was the shit you were telling me about with the doctor?", and Lip is confused asking "Doctor?", Mickey tells him "Fucking shrink stuff, or whatever.", Lip then gets worried asking "You mean for Ian? is he okay?", Mickey responds "Yea he's fine, I'm just asking man. What is it?", Lip says "It's a mental health assessment but you're sure he okay though?", Mickey says "He's fine, I'll catch you around", but Lip doesn't seem convinced. Later in the day we see Ian working at the club where an older man gives him a 100 dollar tip. He tells Ian there's more where that came from, and Ian says that its against club rules to turn tricks, the guy says that wasn't what he meant and asks Ian when his shift is done.
Later in the night, Mickey shows up at the club concerned as to why Ian hasn't come home yet, he goes in the employees only section where a guy tells him he cant be there, Mickey tells him that he's with Ian and asks if he's seen him. The guy responds telling Mickey "Not tonight you're not", Mickey says "What the fuck does that mean? he was supposed to be home an hour ago. You know where he is?" the guy then tells Mickey that he "Only [knows] he didn't leave alone". Mickey obviously gets very angry and upset and starts to leave, the guy then tells him to not leave signalling that he wants to hook up with him, and Mickey turns around asking him what he said and starts beating him up. He starts very aggressively punching and kicking him and yelling "Fucking cheating on me Ian, Won't get out of bed, and you're fucking bouncing off the walls. I came out for you, you piece of shit". Mickey is extremely angry and goes to the Alibi, telling V to leave him an entire bottle of whisky. Sammi begins flirting with Mickey and asking him to have sex with her but Mickey keeps turning her down. Sammi walks away, and Mickey tells her that she's "Not [his] type", "Bet I could be", "Bet you couldn't", "What's your type", "Redhead", "I am downstairs", "Batshit crazy", "Check, "Packing nine inches.", after this Sammi takes the hint and walks away. Mickey continues to stay at the Alibi and gets extremely drunk, later in the night telling Lip that he's had enough of "You Gallaghers". Mickey, Iggy, Sully, and Lip then all shoot up a store that was recently leased, where the Milkoviches then leave Lip once they hear sirens in the distance, but Lip manages to get away.

The next morning, Mickey is sitting on the couch in the living room when Ian comes into the house. Ian doesn't immediately acknowledge that he's been gone an entire night, he greets Mickey and asks if he's watching Yevgeny, Mickey though immediately asks him where he's been the whole night. Ian tells him he had a crazy night, Mickey asks him "[is] that what you call leaving the club with some fairy while I wait around for you like some bitch huh?". Ian then hands him a role of cash and says "Your welcome", Mickey asks him where he got the money, and Ian says "It's from the producer of the movie", and Mickey asks "What movie?", Ian responds saying "I did a porno", "You did what?", Ian nonchalantly says "Yea, you said we needed the money". Mickey gets a bit angrier with his tone asking Ian "Some queen told you he'd pay you to do a porno and you thought "Yea, that's a good idea"?", Ian ignores him instead telling Mickey how he negotiated his pay up from 500$ to 600$. Ian tells Mickey not to worry because the guy he did the scene with "said he was clean". Mickey freaks out and asks Ian "He didn't use a rubber? Are you out of your fucking mind?", Ian tells Mickey to "Relax, psycho" but he ignores him in shock of Ians actions. Ian gets closer to Mickey, but Mickey is stepping away from him mumbling "You are out of your fucking- [mind]" Ian gets closer to him trying to hold his hands but Mickey says "Don't touch me", Ian gets bit more serious now asking "[The] fuck's up with you?". Mickey tells Ian that he needs to pack his things, Ian laughs a bit thinking he's joking but then asks him "What?". Mickey tells him "You're sick, you need help" he changes his tone to be a bit more calm and says "I gotta take you to a hospital, Ian", Ian quietly says "Fuck you" and starts walking away to go to their room. Mickey then goes closer to Ian frustrated and concerned, he pins him to a wall, and says "You are going to the psych ward or a fucking E.R, it's up to you. Either way you're going to a hospital. You hear me?", Ian and Mickey look at each other a bit before Ian gently takes Mickey's arm off his chest and quietly says "Okay" his tone gets a bit sadder and he tells Mickey "I didn't know how important this was to you" he has tears in his eyes as he walks away a bit and says "So uh-, let me take a shower, grab a few things", Ian then goes into the washroom. Mickey is very concerned and upset, the camera follows him into his room, in the distance we hear the shower starting and we continue to follow Mickey as he lights a cigarette, we can see that he is crying and trying to wipe his tears away. We then hear Yevgeny crying in the distance followed by a door opening and closing. Mickey goes into the living room calling for Ian, he sees that Yevgeny is no longer in his high chair and runs outside, Yelling for Ian, we then see a car racing off, Mickey is running after it shouting for Ian and then Yevgeny, but he can't catch up to them.

The next episode "Crazy Love", picks up right where the last left off. Mickey calls Fiona telling her about what Ian did and she immediately races off to the Milkovich house. Meanwhile we see that Ian and Yevgeny are on the road. Ian is telling Yevgeny how he's gonna love Florida, and how it's always sunny, and how it's filled with white sand beaches. Ian is rambling on about how they are going down to Florida, and rambling on about irrelevant things, laughing, and not making sense. He ignore Mickey's calls on his phone and continues rambling to Yev about how his "Uncle, Lip" showed him some photos of Florida, he then corrects himself saying that Lip isn't technically Yev's uncle, (hinting at how Ian's dream is for him and Mickey to start a family of their own, free of others judgements and how he sees Yevgeny almost as his own son). Ian continues rambling on about how all their problems are gonna go away and how they will have no worries. Ian's behaviour is extremely concerning and manic in the car as he continues driving and rambling on, Mickey continues calling him but Ian is ignoring the calls.

We then see Mickey and Svetlana at the Milkovich house, with Mickey constantly calling Ian's phones and freaking out that he is not picking up. Svetlana is yelling at him saying that she's going to call the police because "crazy carrot boy took [her] baby]. Mickey rips the phone out of her hand and says "[if] you call the cops, I'm gonna tell them I said Ian could take the baby on a trip. Who do you think they're gonna believe, huh? illegal Russian fucking hand-whore, or card-carrying, apple pie-eating, "Born on the Fourth of July" American fucking citizen?", Svetlana says they will believe her because she is the mother of the child and grabs the phone back, Mickey tells her she needs to calm down, he tells her "I scared him with the nut-ward talk. He'll get his shit straight. He'll bring the kid back". When Svetlana looks skeptical, Mickey tells her assertively that "He will". Meanwhile Lip receives a call about the Ian stealing Yev situation. Soon after, Fiona and Lip both show up at the Milkovich house asking what happened, Svetlana is yelling at Mickey that Ian needs to go to "Crazy people place, where they spray him with crazy people fire hose and put electric in his head." Mickey tells her to shut the fuck up and then explains to Fiona and Lip that he told Ian he wanted him to take him to the hospital and then he freaked out and left. Iggy starts yelling at Mickey that he needs the car back and the two get into a screaming match. Meanwhile Lip asks Fiona if she thinks Ian had a psychotic break and she says she thinks so.
Mickey leaves a voicemail to Ian saying he's worried about him and loves him
We see Ian continue on the road with Yevgeny, singing along to songs and acting very strange, overly happy and manic. The Gallagher continue plotting how they can find him and where he might be. The next day we see Ian wake up in the car where Yevgeny is crying, he notices that he has a full diaper and since Ian didn't bring any diapers he has to go to a local store to buy some. Ian's behaviour continues to be extremely concerning. Mickey continues calling but Ian has left his phone in the car, and he and Yev have gone to get food and diapers. Mickey calls Ian and when he doesn't answer he leaves a voicemail saying "All right, shithead, this is like, the 200th time I'm calling and you not picking up, I'm starting to get fucking homicidal. Call me the fuck back, Ian. I'm worried about you. I love you.", this is the first time either of them has said I love you to the other. Svetlana walks in while Mickey leaves this voicemail, and tells Mickey that she is having her child now, she tells him that if Yev isn't back by the time she's back she will call the cops. Mickey continues telling her that she cannot call the cops but she isn't listening. Mickey lies alone in the house looking at all the suitcases and his phone seeing that Ian needed help a lot sooner. At the store, Ian continues acting very strange, he doesn't have enough money for diapers so a woman in the store helps him pay for them, to other people in the store he looks as if he is on drugs.
The police back Ian into a corner of a store
Ian then realises he needs cash so he leaves the car with Yevgeny still in it and says he will be back soon. he goes to a bar and leaves with a guy there. A woman sees that a baby is still in the car, and that Ian has left, so she calls the police who come to unlock the car to get Yev out of it. Ian then shows back up and sees the crowd of police surrounding the car. He runs up to the car asking what is going on and the woman points at him saying "That's him", the police tell Ian that he can't leave a baby alone locked in a car on a hot day, and Ian is asking them what he's doing, he gets Yev out of the car, and starts yelling at the woman saying "I get into a car for one second and you call the cops, are you fucking kidding me lady?", the police try to calm him down saying that she did the right thing. Ian begins yelling at the police "Calm down? You're telling me to calm down? Trying to steal my baby, telling me to calm down?" the police officer then asks if Ian is on any kind of drugs, and Ian starts yelling saying "Drugs? Am I on fucking drugs? You're the one who's trying to steal my baby! You're the baby thieves" Ian continues rambling, yelling and freaking out and then says "Who sent you? Jesus send you? Did Jesus send you to take my baby?". The police officer then tries to calm him down saying that no one sent them and that they are just there to help. Ian continues yelling and persisting that Jesus sent them to take the baby, Ian then begins to run away from the police, and the police chase him through the streets and into a grocery store, where Ian is crying for help saying that "Gabriels demons" are trying to steal his baby. Eventually the police corner him in the store, where Ian is still freaking out, he throws things at the police, and then starts crying and profusely apologising to them, he has no option but to go with the police.
Mickey then gets a knock at the door when he is sleeping, he wakes up and answers it to see that it's Carl asking if he has heard from Ian. Mickey tells him he hasn't, Carl then tells Mickey that he's seen this stuff from his mom, Monica, and tells Mickey a story about how she climbed to the top of their roof thinking she was a bird. Mickey asks Carl if she jumped and he says that "The firemen came down and got her down". Mickey looks very emotional when he says that but he changes the subject quickly and asks Carl if he wants a beer. As Mickey and Carl are talking, Mickey gets a phone call. He answers it and it is the cops saying that they have Ian and "the baby" in Terre Haute.

Debbie, Carl, Lip and Mickey drive to the town that the police have Ian in to pick him up from jail, they attempt to get ahold of Fiona but she is not answering. In the car, Mickey says "I'm sorry, I should have listened to you. Lip angrily tells him "Yea, you should have, and Mickey says that he didn't know things could get this bad, and Lip tells him him that they could "Get worse, could get much worse", Mickey understandably, looks very upset. The four then show up at the police station where Carl stays in the car and Mickey, Lip and Debbie go to the station. Lip asks if Ian is at the station and the arresting officer tells him that he is, he asks Lip if Ian has a history of mental illness, and Lip looks over at Mickey and says that yes he does. The police inform them that Ian was acting irrationally and that he left the baby locked in a car, he also says that Ian ran away when they tried to question him, Mickey asks if the baby is okay, and the officer says that he is fine and sleeping in the back. The police then ask if the baby is Ians, and Mickey says "No, He's mine", the police then ask who Mickey is in relation to Ian and he responds saying, "His partner" when the police officer looks a bit confused Mickey continues saying "Lover? Family? You know?". The police officer then says that they took Ian to the E.R and gave him a sedative to calm him down and that he is "clearly a troubled kid". Lip asks if he is under arrest and the officer says he has to face some charges, but they won't hold him. The officer then tells them that "You need to get him some help", and Lip says that they know. They then go over to see Ian. The officer brings Ian out of the cell, where Lip, Debbie and Mickey are waiting for him, Ian looks very out of it and depressed and exhausted, Lip goes up to him, hugs him, and asks him if he is alright, Debbie then gives him a hug, and then lastly Mickey goes up to him. Mickey maintains eye contact with him, and Ian who has been looking down this whole time looks up at him, Mickey then holds his face looks at him and then hugs him very tight, closing his eyes and smelling his sweater. Mickey has tears in his eyes. Lip then takes Ian to the car, and the police hand Mickey Yevgeny, he thanks them and then goes to the car. We can see that the sun is now rising, and Lip is still driving back to Chicago.

In the car we see that Ian is asleep on Mickey's shoulder. Mickey is very upset and trying to mask his tears, he tells Lip that they can get Ian committed to the psych ward even if he doesn't want to go, "We can just... tell them that he kidnapped the kid, right? they have to take him? there's gotta be some kind of like "danger to others" law, right?". Lip tells Mickey that it could be much more complicated than that, Mickey then desperately tells them that if it's too difficult then he can call the cops on Ian and tell them that he kidnapped the baby, "They'll put him away for awhile, at least he'll be getting some kind of fucking help". Lip then says "You did okay, Mickey. Hell, you tried. That's a lot more than most people would do". Mickey begins to cry but tries to hide it from everyone in the car.

In the morning, Fiona receives all the messages that Ian has been found, and races over to the psychiatric hospital. Fiona and Ian hug, and Fiona is crying asking if he is okay. Lip then tells Ian that they just need him to sign a piece of paper to go on a 72 hour psychiatric hold. Ian goes to sign the paper and then looks back at Mickey. Mickey nods his head in support of Ian, telling him that it is the right thing to do, Ian then looks back at the paper and signs it. This is when someone comes out from the unit asking for Ian. Ian goes up to Yevgeny who Debbie is holding, smiles at him and gives him a kiss on the forehead. he then goes up to Mickey looks at him, and looks down, ashamed of his actions, and tells him he is sorry. Ian begins walking away shaking his head, disappointed in what he is done, he is heading towards the unit, Mickey runs after him, turns him around and the two hug, extremely emotional, both crying and holding each other. Mickey then asks the employee who is taking Ian into the hospital care unit "Can I go in with him?" the employee says that she's sorry but he can't, Mickey then holds Ians shoulder and smells his clothes one last time before he goes in. Mickey, Lip and Fiona continue watching Ian get taken into the care unit until he is no longer in sight.
Ian is Put Under a Psychiatric Hold[]
Ian wakes up after being put under a 72 hour hold
Ian wakes up the next morning at the psychiatric hospital extremely sedated and confused on where he is, he keeps asking questions about his whereabouts and where his clothes are etc. Ian keeps telling everyone that he needs to get home and that he isn't supposed to be here. He goes to the door to leave telling the security officer that "Mickey is waiting for me, and Yevgeny, I need to see Fiona", the officer threatens him telling him that he will sedate him again if he tries to leave but Ian reaches for the door and the officer pins him against a wall very aggressively. We then see Mickey getting ready to go see Ian he is wearing very nice clothes and ensuring he looks nice in the mirror. He goes to the living room and asks Svetlana what she's doing, she says she is packing Ians things. Mickey asks why she is doing this because he "doesn't need that shit at the hospital", Svetlana tells him "Not for hospital, for moving out.", "He's not moving out he's gone for like 3 days". Svetlana says that Ian cannot stay here, and Mickey responds saying "The fuck he can't, says who?", Svetlana responds saying that Ian stole the baby but Mickey tells her to relax and that the baby is fine now, Svetlana persists saying Ian cannot stay at their house. Mickey says she can't just kick him out because "He's sick. He has a disease, like fucking cancer. Would you kick him out if he had cancer?" Svetlana again keeps persisting that he needs to be kicked out. Mickey tells her "Well you know what? It's not your fucking house, is it? The way I see it, You're freeloading here. So if you don't like it, the front door's plenty wide enough for you to walk the fuck out. Find yourself somewhere else to live".
Mickey and Fiona visit a sedated Ian
We then see Mickey at the psych ward he shows up earlier than everyone and then we see Fiona come in with a pie she brought from work, Fiona asks why he hasn't gone in yet and he says he figured it would be better to wait for everyone else. Mickey says that the hospital is already freaking him out a bit. Mickey and Fiona go in and the woman at the front desk asks them for ID's and their relationship to the patient, Fiona says "Sister" and Mickey says "Boyfriend", Fiona looks over and smiles a bit. The two then go into the main waiting room and start waiting for Ian. After a while of waiting Ian comes through the doors and Mickey and Fiona stand up. Fiona goes over to him and hugs him asking him how he is doing, Ian asks "We going home?", and Fiona says "In a couple days, yea.", Fiona tells Ian "Look who's here! Mickey's here" and Mickey goes over to Ian smiling and hugs him. Ian is extremely sedated and acting very weird, he isn't saying anything and is just looking at them. Fiona is making small talk and keeping the conversation happy telling him that she got married and that everyone is doing good. The camera shows us Ians perspective, as he is extremely sedated, he isn't focusing much on Fiona and Mickey and instead seems overstimulated by his surroundings, Mickey seems to be noticing this strange behaviour. Ian asks "Where's Yevgeny?" and Mickey tells him "He's at home. He's totally fine." and Fiona says that he can see him really soon. Ian then gets up and walks away, Fiona asks him where he's going and he responds "I'm tired" and leaves the visiting area without saying anything else. Fiona then asks Mickey if he is okay and he says "Mhm yea" he is clearly very upset and heartbroken, Fiona tells him that it's just the sedation but Mickey says that he is gonna go.

Later Ian meets with his psychiatrist, who tells him that he shows signs of Bipolar disorder, Ian insists that he is not bipolar like his mother and that he would never do the stuff that his mom did to them, he says that he shouldn't be here and is resisting his diagnosis heavily. Later that night a drunk Mickey comes home to an empty house, he calls out for Svetlana and Yevgeny but they are both gone. Mickey then trips and where he falls he sees Ian's Military jacket, he holds it tight and closes his eyes smelling it.

Two days later, Lip and Fiona go to get Ian from the psychiatric hospital, Lip says that he thought Mickey would "be here" and Fiona says she didn't think so. We then see that Mickey is sitting on his bed smoking and drinking cans and cans of beer depressed since his last encounter with Ian. Back at the hospital we see that Ian's psychiatrist tells Fiona and Lip his diagnosis of bipolar 1, acute mania with psychotic features, Fiona and Lip look upset but also expected this. The doctor says that Ian is resisting his diagnosis so it may take his medication longer to work, she also says that he needs to be carefully supervised because he probably won't take his medication since he refuses to believe he is bipolar, she also tells them to take him to a psychiatrist to get his medication balanced. The doctor says that he will mostly just sleep until his meds get balanced and start working. Ian then comes and Fiona and Lip hug him before taking him back to the Gallagher house. The three come home and everyone hugs Ian and is excited to see him, he tells them that he is tired and is probably just gonna sleep for a bit. Ian keeps calling Mickey, but he isn't answering any of his calls, he is drinking and shooting cans of beers avoiding the situation.

Later in the day Ian goes into the kitchen and takes all of his pills. Debbie notices they are all gone and asks Ian if he took them and Ian lies saying he flushed them. Debbie asks why Ian would do that and Ian tells Debbie that his meds make him feel awful "like life is not worth living", he says he feels better already just knowing they are gone. Mickey and Ian still haven't seen each other since Ians release, Mickey is still in shock seeing the way Ian had been acting and is grappling with the emotions of seeing Ian in such a state. Debbie then comes up to Fiona at work crying, saying she's sorry and telling her that Ian flushed all of his pills, Meanwhile Lip is also struggling dealing with the fact that he is at college and not at home helping Ian, Fiona has also decided to move back in for a little while for Ians sake, needless to say Ians diagnosis has hit the family very hard. Fiona then tries to convince Ian to take his meds but he tells her that they make him feel awful and that he doesn't want to take them, he tells her that he isn't Monica and that Fiona herself also pulled some serious shit with Liam and she wasn't pronounced mentally ill. Debbie and Fiona are desperate to get Ian to go to the clinic pick up some medication but he continues to refuse.
Ian and Mickey's Relationship Post-Diagnosis[]
Mickey visits Ian after his release
Debbie ends up going to the Milkovich house, He finds Mickey drunk and playing a guitar, with loud rock music in the background. He asks if Ian sent her and she says that he didn't, she tells him that Ian flushed all of his pills down the toilet. Debbie asks if he can help her get some of Ians pills, Mickey calls Iggy over and asks if he can get them, Iggy says he can't get any of them. Debbie asks when he can come by to see Ian, and that if maybe he was there Ian would take some of his medication, Mickey doesn't respond so she flips out saying "Did you guys break up or something?", when Mickey continues ignoring her, she turns off the music and goes on a monologue ending it with "You can't drink him away, Mickey, it won't work". Later at night, Sammi rats out Carl to the police because he smuggled heroin through her son Chuckie. At the police station, Ian tells his family, "I think this might be the end with Mickey. The diagnosis, you know. Even if I don't believe it I'm pretty sure he does.", Fiona and Lip try to cheer him up a bit and it works Ian says "I miss you guys, if I do have to stay at home-" but Fiona cuts him off telling him not to worry because she is moving home that night. Later that night, Ian is sleeping alone, when Mickey enters the room, Ian wakes up and then hears Mickey say "Hey" and immediately turns around, he is shocked to see Mickey thinking that he had lost him forever, and you can clearly tell his face lights up seeing him. Mickey says "Sorry I'm late" and then takes off his jacket and gets into bed with Ian, he kisses Ians forehead and then holds his face and Ian closes his eyes.

In episode 9 of season 5, Ian wakes up having a manic episode. he freaks out looking out windows, and telling Mickey that the MP's are coming after him, Mickey tells him to come back to bed but Ian is freaking out, he runs out of the room yelling that he can't let them get into the house. Ian runs down grabs a baseball bat and Mickey tries to chase after him. He is freaking out, trying to push the couch in front of the front door so the MP's don't get in (even though there are none), he is running around trying to ensure doors are locked etc. Fiona tries calming him down and Mickey tells him that no one is after him but he isn't listening. Debbie then opens the bathroom door and Ian whips his baseball bat almost hitting her in the head, he immediately regrets his actions and looks upset. Mickey goes up to Ian and grabs the bat out of his hands, he tries to get him to calm down and listen to him, he then opens the door showing him that there is no one out there. Mickey takes him to the other door and tells him to look, Ian looks very confused and lost and Mickey tells him "We gotta get you to a fucking clinic. Get some meds, today." Ian doesn't say anything and looks around the room a bit before nodding, Mickey then holds his shoulder and says "Hey, it's okay, it's alright, let's go get dressed", and Mickey then takes him upstairs.

Later they both go to the clinic where the doctor says that they can start him on lithium, Mickey grabs it out of her hand and asks how often he takes it, she says twice a day and then says if the lithium isn't optimal they can try other drugs. Mickey then asks her "Try? you shooting in the dark here?", the doctor explains to Mickey that there is no magic bullet in medication and what works for someone may not for someone else, and that it takes experimentation. Mickey then says "He's not a fucking lab rat", and Ian tries telling him to calm down a bit, the doctor gives him more drugs that will help with paranoia, Ian says that at the time his paranoia in the morning felt very real, the doctor says "That's the disease", Mickey looks upset when she says this. The doctor then says "We encourage you to make a list of people to call if you feel like you might hurt yourself", Mickey asks "Like a suicide list?", Ian asks "The meds are supposed to work why would I need a suicide list?", and Mickey responds saying "You don't, He's got me". The doctor then asks Ian if he has any questions and he asks how long he has to take medication for and the doctor says that there is evidence that shows that in time the need for medication for bipolar disorder diminishes, Ian asks how much time and the doctor responds saying its hard to say, Ian asks her to ballpark and she says "30, 40 years", Ian and Mickey both look very upset and in shock when she says this.

Later that night, Mickey comes out of Ians rooms and asks Fiona not to make too much noise as Ian is sleeping, Mickey tells her that Ian has been sleeping most of the day as a result of the medication and then helps Fiona iron some of Lips old clothes for Carls sentencing, he still keeps an eye on Ian though. At Carl's sentencing Ian seems very uncomfortable and restless. Later Lip asks Ian how the clinic went and Ian responds saying he knows "somethings wrong with [him]". Lip tries lightening the mood saying "But you're gonna get better right?", but Ian responds saying "What? in 40 years". Lip then tells him a story about his childhood when one of their classmates used Ian to break the record of black eyes given in a single calendar school year, Lip says that he was ready to kill him but he won't ever forget what Ian said to him saying "I got this", he then looks at Ian saying "you got this". Fiona also gets Ian a job as a dishwasher at Patsy's pies, to hopefully give him something to do while he's going through all of this.

In episode 10 "Southside Rules", early in the morning we see that in Ian's room, Mickey is trying to give him head, under the covers, but he takes the blanket off and then says "Sorry man, it's not working, fucking meds", as a side effect of all of this medication can be a lower sex drive. Mickey says "Yea" but to cheer Ian up a bit he says that it could also be that Liam is staring at them from the corner and that Debbie is singing rock in the other room. He says "Whatever, try again later, man" and gets out of bed, Ian though seems very upset and out of it. Mickey then says "Breakfast of champs, we got your mood stabiliser, anti-psychotic, antidepressant" and gives Ian his medication and a bottle of Gatorade, Ian asks "[you're a] Fucking nurse now?", and Mickey says "Shut the fuck up, take the pills, bitch" and kisses Ian head. Ian and Mickey go downstairs into the kitchen and Mickey tells him that he can't drink coffee on his meds but Ian ignores him and pours himself a cup anyway, Mickey looks at him with a disappointed face but doesn't say anything. Debbie comes downstairs and says "Hey, how you feeling?", and Ian responds "Not feeling", and Debbie says that is an improvement and that at least he isn't swinging baseball bats at her head, Ian pauses and looks extremely upset when she says this. When everyone leaves the house, Mickey puts a half eaten donut on a plate for Ian and hands it to him, Ian says "I'm not eating that", Mickey says "Eat it, you eat all of those pills on an empty stomach you're gonna have diarrhoea real bad." Ian reluctantly eats one bite as Mickey is looking at his sad expression, and the Ian leaves for the washroom.
Ian asks Mickey to go out with him
At Patsy's Pies, where Ian is now working as a dishwasher, Ian is bussing tables, he seems depressed, numb and overmedicated, as when we see his perspective we can see that his surroundings are blurry and noises are all fading into one. Ian then goes towards the hot grill and puts his hand on it, burning it badly, he wraps it up with cloth and later goes home. Back at home, Sammi asks what happened to his hand, and Ian says he burned it at work, Sammi takes a look at it and tells him he's gonna have a huge scar on his hand, Ian responds saying "It'll match the one I got in the Army", and shows his other hand which has a scar on it. Sammi asks how he got that scar and Ian says "I tried to hot wire a helicopter, burned myself on the starter", Ian then says "I got caught trying to steal government property and that's why the M.P's are after me, well that and going AWOL, and enlisting under a false identity, and maybe other stuff too" and Sammi responds saying "Wow, pretty hard core", and Ian says "No, just, mentally ill". Later, Ian goes downstairs after having been very mentally detached all day. Mickey is downstairs and has bought a bunch of vitamin supplements for Ian. Ian then goes into the kitchen where Mickey is talking about the vitamins he bought for him, and starts putting some things in a bag, Mickey then sees his hand and asks what happened, Ian doesn't respond, Mickey then asks him what he's doing and Ian then responds saying "We're going out", Mickey asks if a doctor took care of his hand, and Ian says "Come on, Mickey", Mickey then says "You can't go anywhere unless you get that looked at, man". Ian then tells him "Okay, listen, either you can stay here and jerk off into your vitamins or you can come with me. It's your call", Mickey then goes out along with Ian
Ian and Mickey hookup on the field
Ian takes Mickey to the baseball field dugout they went to in season 2 episode 2, and jump the fence together. Mickey tells Ian "Jesus, haven't been here since that time we banged" referring to their season 2 encounter. Ian tells Mickey "Let's do some pull ups" similarly to that episode, and Ian starts attempting to do some, Mickey tells him not to due to his hand but Ian attempts to do them anyway, he can only really do one before struggling, he the tells Mickey that he's out of shape. Ian then takes a beer out of his backpack, and goes to shotgun it. Mickey tells him "No, no, look, you're not supposed to drink on lithium, it makes your blood fucking toxic, and it gets you hammered in like two seconds flat. You can't-" but Ian cuts him off, and punches him across the face, Mickey asks him "What the fuck, Ian?", "I'm sick of your whiny, pussy crap, I don't need a fucking caretaker, alright? I need the shit-talking, bitch-slapping, piece of Southside trash I fell for. Where is he, the fuck is he, Mickey?". Mickey then pushes Ian and says "Fuck you, fuck me for giving a shit, you prick", "Give all the shits you want, but the next time my dick is limp from all the meds, don't go all "Oh, it's okay, wah, wah" just suck it harder you f*gg*t". After Ian says this, Mickey starts punching him hard, and Ian fights back, the two keep fighting until eventually they both fall onto the ground coughing and stop. Ian then gets up and starts shotgunning a beer and passes it to Mickey, he then shotguns one himself. The two laugh together, and Mickey looks over at Ian, Ian says "[This is the] first time, I've felt anything since uh-", Ian doesn't continue his sentence for a bit and Mickey says "You look like a fucking wet rat" and goes closer to Ian, the two then start kissing passionately. They then begin to take their clothes off and hook up there.

Later that same night, Ian and Mickey are walking to the Gallagher house singing "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar, a running bit that they both love 70's and 80's music. Ian and Mickey are singing their hearts out to the song and Ian is jumping around laughing, and very happy, Mickey also seems happy to see him like this and tells him "You got trashed off one beer, bitch", Ian says "Yea! I know! Finally something good about this fucking disease!", they both laugh. Ian then continues on saying "Holy shit, I just realised something", "What's up?", "We've never actually been on a real date", "Bullshit", "No, I'm serious, Like, like, a date where you sit down and you go to a nice restaurant and you put on a nice shirt, and you like, eat with utensils". Mickey then asks if Ian wants to do that and Ian says "Yeah, why not?", Mickey asks "You mean now?", and Ian responds "Now, before I sober up and get all fucking weird again, come on", they both laugh and Mickey asks Ian if he can borrow a shirt first, Ian says "Yea, you can borrow a shirt". The two then put their arms around each other and start going in the house, continuing to sing along as they go in. When the two walk in, they see Sammi who immediately says "Hi, Ian", Ian tells her "We're going on a date" and Mickey says "Fuck, yes we are", Ian and Mickey start joking around with each other laughing, but Sammi tells Ian "Listen, listen, Ian, I want you to know you are a really great kid, with a big heart. You have some hard times ahead of you, but you're gonna do great", Ian is weirded out and just says "Okay" and him and Mickey laugh a bit, both seeing this as very strange. Sammi then says "Gentlemen, this is Ian Gallagher" as two military officers come out into the living room, Sammi continues on saying "I think they're ready to take him to jail now", Ian looks at Sammi and asks "Why Sammi?". Ian starts fighting off one of the officers while Mickey fights another, keeping him off of Ian, he tries ripping the other off Ian but one of the officers throws him to the ground and points a gun at him telling him not to move. Mickey complies, and Ian continues trying to resist arrest to the other officer. Ian looks at Mickey as he is being taken out of the house, Ian continues yelling as the officers push him to the car. Mickey then leaves and follows them outside telling them that they can't drag him away out of his house and that he's sick, Fiona is also approaching the house and sees what is going on. Mickey is asking them where they are taking him but they don't respond, he is yelling that Ian didn't do anything but the officers drag Ian into a car and drive off. Sammi then says "It's a shame when someone you love gets taken away isnt it" revealing the true intent of her actions, which was to get revenge/retribution for Chuckie going to jail at the hands of Carl.

In "Drugs Actually", Fiona is freaking out and extremely angry that Sammi has sent Ian to Military prison, she tells Sean she is visiting him today and that Mickey was supposed to take them in his brothers car but his brother actually needed it. Sean then offers to take her and her family to visit Ian. Fiona, Debbie and Mickey plan on going to visit Ian together and meeting Lip at the army base where he is kept. Mickey asks what they are going to do about Sammi as she is still there, Mickey wants to take revenge by hurting Sammi because of how much he hurt him by sending Ian to prison. Mickey threatens Sammi bit as she passes by but she pulls a gun on him. In the car Mickey talks about how he seeks revenge for what Sammi did to Ian but Fiona condemn it. Fiona, Debbie, Lip and Mickey all finally go into the military station where Ian is being held, where they listen to Ian's hearing. At the hearing, an officer reads out Ian's charges and then says that by tomorrow he will decide if Ian will face a court-martial, Ian and Mickey are sitting close by each other but Ian has a very depressed expression. Fiona then says "Excuse me sir, Ian is clinically bipolar. The Army should not be court-martialling him. If anything, you should be helping him", the Officer asks if a diagnosis has been made by a doctor and Lip says that they have, as the doctor continues to ask questions about his bipolar disease, Ian looks at his family upset at how they view him. Debbie says that Ian has been "acting crazy" long before his official diagnosis. Th officer asks how they would characterise his behaviour and Debbie says "Compared to how he used to be? he's different" Lip continues saying "He'll go back and forth from being...depressed to... incredibly wound up, I mean he ran off with a baby for no reason" Debbie then says "He almost hit me in the head with a baseball bat", Ian look extremely upset and Mickey is looking at him and staying silent. Fiona tells the officer "Our mother was Bipolar so we know what it looks like. She put us through hell" she then pauses and looks at Ian saying "I'm not saying that you put us through hell but when they're manic, they can be destructive". The officer asks if in their opinion Ian required medication and Fiona says "Yes.", he then asks if he is unable to care for himself and she quietly says "Sometimes, yes", again Ian looks very upset and Mickey has stayed silent this entire time, looking at Ians face.
Later we see that Ian goes to see a visitor the visitor is Monica. Monica asks if the others know that she is there and Ian says that they don't know that they still talk, Ian says that he needed to talk to someone who just gets it and says that everyone else tries but simply doesn't get it. Monica tells Ian about her boyfriend Walter and how great their relationship has been. She tells Ian that there is always gonna be people that try to fix them and that those people will never be happy, "like it breaks their heart just to look at you". Obviously this hits Ian hard, Ian then wipes his tears and says "Even Mickey now-", Monica cuts him off and tells him that she is sure he means well but he won't ever be able to get it, and that he needs to be with people who accept him as he is (unmedicated), and that those people are out there. Ian in this vulnerable state kind of accepts Monicas awful advice. Meanwhile Mickey and Debbie try to torture Sammi for revenge but end up giving her too many roofies and believe she has passed on. Mickey and Debbie hide the body in a shipping crate.
The next day the Gallaghers and Mickey go to visit Ian, the Military officers at the door let them know that Ian has been released. Everyone is very happy to know that Ian has been released, and Mickey asks if they can go in, the police then inform them that Ian is actually not at the facility. They ask where he is and they say that Ian has been released into the care of Monica Gallagher. Everyone in the car knows this is bad news and gets extremely upset hearing this knowing that she will take Ian down the same route she has taken. We then see Ian and Monica hitching a ride from stranger, Ian looks out of it and depressed but still goes with her.

In the season 5 finale "Love Songs (In the Key of Gallagher)", we see Mickey and a girl having sex. Mickey seems very upset and angry, the girl then leaves before saying "at least you finally got hard". When she leaves, Mickey gets up and goes to a picture of Ian which has been hanging on his wall, across from where he and the girl were hooking up. He looks at it and then hits his head against the photo. Meanwhile, Ian and Monica get dropped off at a diner, Monica is telling Ian how excited she is to eat and Ian says he has no money, at first Monica gets angry, but then tells Ian that it's fine because she has money, she asks him to go get them a table and that she will be right back, she then goes towards a truck, Ian stares off a bit weirded out, he thinks she is prostituting herself for money because she goes behind a car with a trucker and comes back out with money. Later Ian and Monica are eating their food and Ian asks what Monica did for Money and she says she sold something to him. Meanwhile, Mickey is calling Ian, Monica asks "Your boyfriend? again?" hangs up then phone without giving Ian a chance to respond and Monica says "Fuck him". Monica then takes Ian to where she is living with her boyfriend Walter who is a crystal meth cook, Ian and him do not hit it off upon a first meeting. Ian continues to stay there depressed and weirded out by Monica and Walter's relationship after finding meth in her bag and discovering their cook site. After confronting Monica about this, she gets defensive and tells Ian she loves him and that she loves Walter and all she wants for Ian is to find someone that loves him for who he truly is (unmedicated). Ian and Monica hug and she goes inside and begins fighting with Walter, as Ian stays outside and stargazes receiving calls from Mickey, after Ian doesn't answer, Mickey goes up to a random dude and they hook up.

The next morning, Ian calls Mickey, as he wakes up and sees it is Ian he frantically tries to pick up but it hangs up, still panicking he redials Ian, Ian picks up and says "Hey, Mick" and Mickey sighs of relief and asks "[where] the fuck are you?". We then see Mickey run to the Gallagher house where Ian is sitting on the steps. Mickey asks where Ian has been and Ian answers that he was with Monica, Mickey asks if Ian is okay and Ian doesn't answer instead saying "I hate the meds, you gonna make me take 'em?", Mickey says "You get fucking nuts when you don't", "Are you gonna wanna be with me even if I don't", Mickey just sighs and looks at Ian, Ian responds "You used to love me, now you don't even know who I am. Shit, I don't know who I am half the time" he then looks at Mickey and says "You don't owe me anything", Mickey responds saying "I love you", Ian asks what that even means and Mickey says "It means we take care of each other." Ian then says "I don't want you sitting around, worrying, watching me, waiting for me to do my next crazy shit", Mickey continues saying "It means think and thin, good times, bad, sickness, health, all that shit". Ian asks "You gonna marry me? Are we gonna go down to the courthouse in some tuxes like a couple of old queens", Mickey tells Ian "Fuck you." and asks what the hell is wrong with him. Ian yells loudly "Too much! too much is wrong with me. That's the problem isn't it? Too much is wrong with me, and you can't do anything about that, you can't change it. You can't fix me, cause I'm not broken, I don't need to be fixed okay I'm me!". Mickey then asks if this it and this is Ian breaking up with him, Ian says that it is and Mickey asks "Really?" just then Sammi comes out yelling for Mickey, she chases after him with a gun as mickey runs off, Ian goes inside and sees Fiona who asks him how long ago he got home and the 2 go inside together.

Some time has past since last season, Mickey has been arrested for the attempted murder of Sammi, and Sammi is also in jail for attempting to kill Mickey. Svetlana wants Ian to come with her to visit Mickey in jail. Ian refuses saying he is done with that chapter of his life, but she offers to pay him so he agrees. Svetlana is talking to Mickey in jail, where Mickey sees that Ian is there as well, Svetlana is talking to Mickey about a job for Mickey in jail in which they can split money 50/50, we can see that Mickey isn't paying much attention and is just looking back at Ian. He asks Svetlana "Is he just gonna sit back there this whole time?" he then tells Svetlana, "Why don't you take the milk-sucker and scramble, I wanna talk to Ian". Ian comes and the two begin to talk, Mickey says "Thanks for coming back" Ian tells him that Svetlana paid him. Mickey keeps talking though, he tells Ian that he looks good and smiles at him, though Ian seems to be depressed and a bit out of it. Mickey then says that he got a new tattoo, and that he did it himself; he shows a tattoo on his chest where his heart is that reads "Ian Galager" (Ian Gallagher misspelled). Ian replies by telling Mickey that it looks infected, and that Gallagher is spelled with two L's. Mickey says "No, it's fucking not." and they laugh about it together for a bit before Mickey says that he's been thinking about Ian. Then he asks Ian if he ever thinks about him and whether he'll wait for him, Ian reminds Mickey that he's in prison for 15 years but Mickey replies that it'll be 8 with overcrowding. Mickey asks him again whether he'll wait for him, and when Ian doesn't reply Mickey say "Fucking lie if you have to, man. 8 years is a long time." so Ian says "Yea, yea Mick, I'll wait", then leaves.

Mickey's Escape from Jail[]
Ian Finds out Mickey has escaped Prison
After Ian discovers his boyfriend from season 6, Caleb has been cheating on him with a woman, their relationship ends. Shortly after, Ian jumps into a new relationship with a new character, Trevor. This relationship is jeopardised in episode 9 "Ouroboros" when a detective shows up at the Gallagher home and asks for Ian, Fiona calls for Ian, and he comes outside to see what is going on. He is greeted by a detective asking him if he has seen or heard from Mickey, Ian responds with no, the detective then informs Ian that Mickey escaped prison the night before.

In the next episode, "Ride or Die", Ian and Trevor wake up together, and Trevor mentions that Ian didn't sleep much the night before, and that his ex (Mickey) escaping prison is pretty wild. Ian reassures Trevor that Mickey is crazy and that he won't get involved in anything to do with him. As Ian is leaving for work, a tall man in a hood, seemingly on purpose, bumps into him, dropping a phone on the ground after he knocks into Ian. Ian gets angry at first but then sees the phone, he then hears it ringing, he reluctantly picks the phone up, answers, and is greeted by Mickey saying "Miss me?", Ian immediately recognises his voice and Mickey tells him to meet him at the South-Shore docks in 1 hour and to drop the phone in a sewer. Mickey then hangs up and Ian dumps the phone in a nearby sewer. Ian arrives at work, distressed and constantly checking his watch, his coworker is ranting to him about training other EMT's but Ian is not listening, she notices and asks if he is okay, at first Ian tries to pretend everything is okay and to get to work. A few seconds later though, he realises he has to go meet Mickey, checks his watch and pretends to be sick to get out of work to go see him.

Ian arrives at the docks, and 2 men pull a bag over his head and throw him into a car driving off, Ian is fighting back. They drive and dump him off at the high school bleachers, Ian is mad and yelling about this situation, that is until he sees Mickey, they share a longing look and Mickey signals to Ian to come see him behind the bleachers. Mickey, has grown long hair, a beard and is wearing a black toque since he is in hiding from the cops who are desperately searching to find him after his escape. Ian immediately asks Mickey why he had blindfolded him and Mickey yells at Ian for being late, they fight a bit pushing and shoving each other until they pause and look deeply in each other's eyes almost kissing. Mickey asks Ian if he likes the high school bleachers and refers to them as "their spot", since in season 2, 3 and 5 they were seen hooking up under the bleachers, as well as having some of their most important relationship moments under there. Mickey makes a comment about Ians EMT uniform saying he went "official on [him]", Ian says that Mickey looks good and he responds by saying that there isn't a lot to do in prison other than work out. Mickey says he is laying low with his cellmate Damon. Mickey asks if the cops talked to Ian. Ian responds by saying "Think I'd snitch". Mickey changes the topic and tells Ian that he is planning on getting a new ID, some cash and heading down to Mexico. He prompts Ian to come and Ian is shocked asking "Come with you to Mexico?", he laughs it off, but notices that Mickey is serious. Mickey then says that he thought about Ian a lot inside of prison, and grips Ian jacket and gets closer to him saying "You're under my skin man, fuck can I do?", they nearly kiss before Damon whistles, signalling to Mickey that they should leave. Mickey pats Ians cheek and tells him to think about his proposition. Ian asks Mickey how he will find him again, and Mickey responds saying look up. Ian looks and sees a phone hidden under the bleachers seats. Later Ian meets Trevor to have lunch, however Trevor is ignoring Ian and is busy with work. Ian tells Trevor he had a crazy day, but Trevor gets a call and tells Ian he has to leave. In this moment Ian realises that no one can recreate the connection and passion that he and Mickey share with each other.

Later that night, Ian and Fiona have a conversation in the Gallagher living room, Ian is checking the flip phone he received from Mickey at the bleachers and Fiona asks if he's okay, Ian says he couldn't sleep and asks Fiona what she thinks would have happened if she had ran off with her previous boyfriend, Jimmy. Fiona says that her life would have been a non-stop psycho thriller and that she dodged a bullet not running off with him. Ian then asks her "what if nothing ever gives you that same thrill again? would you still feel like you dodged a bullet?". Fiona questions why Ian is asking this, and Ian says that he can't get Mickey out of his head. Fiona advises Ian against seeing Mickey, and says that Mickey would set a match to the new life Ian has built. After this conversation, Ian goes to meet Mickey at the South-shore docks, Mickey tells Ian that he knew that he would come, and they begin to make out. Ian then pushes Mickey away and Mickey is confused, Ian tries to tell Mickey that his life has gone one and that he won't piss away his new life to be with him, but before Ian can finish his sentence Mickey tells him to "Stop" and they begin to make out again. Ian gives in, until he pushes Mickey away again, and tells Mickey that he has his life together and that he has a boyfriend. Mickey is shocked and asks "Boyfriend? what you doing here than?", Ian doesn't respond and goes to make out with Mickey and begins taking his clothes off. Mickey tells Ian to tell him goodbye, Ian then pushes him against a car, and continues to unbuckle his belt, Mickey nods knowing that Ian couldn't stop pursuing him, they then have sex. The next day Ian wakes up with his hands around Mickey in a van. he gets up and begins to put on his shoes, he calls Trevor and leaves a message saying that he's sorry he missed his calls, and whispers that he misses him so Mickey doesn't hear. Ian wakes Mickey up and tells him that he has to leave, Mickey asks if he will ever see Ian again, Ian doesn't respond, instead he kisses Mickey longingly, puts a cigarette in his mouth and leaves the van. Later Ian is leaving the Gallagher house with a backpack and listening to a message Mickey has left asking if Ian is going to be coming or not. Ian shows up at the spot where he is going to meet Mickey and Mickey asks if this is goodbye. To his surprise, Ian throws in his backpacking the car, gets in, and tells Mickey "Lets ride." Mickey smiles and they drive off.
Running off to Mexico[]

In the next episode "Happily Ever After", Ian and Mickey are driving down the U.S and are in Oklahoma. Ian asks what Mickeys plan is, at first Mickey jokes with Ian, but after Ian says that he's a fugitive and that they need a proper plan, he vaguely tells him that they can figure something out. Mickey sees a worried and anxious look on Ian's face and changes the topic, asking him if he has ever been to the beach and that the only thing that kept him going in prison was their relationship, and the thought of them on the beach. It's revealed that Mickey's cell mate, Damon has been with them the entire time as well, and Mickey tells him to get out so him and Ian can have sex in the car. The 3 then stop at a gas station, Mickey and Damon go inside to buy food, as Ian fills up the car with gas, calling Lip and lying to him saying that he's been stuck at work. Damon ends up robbing the Gas station, and the owner shoots down the car that the 3 were in as they try to drive away as fast as possible. They now go to get a new car, incase anyone saw their licence plate back in the gas station. Mickey tries to Hotwire a car but he's out of practice so Ian does it and they drive off without Damon, as Mickey says that he will get them caught if they keep going with him.

Mickey and Ian continue to drive into Texas and talk to a guy by the name of Jésus that they believe can get the across the border. He refuses saying that he can only bring people into the US from Mexico, not the other way around. They try to figure out away to get across the border and since Mickey cant swim, their only way is to drive across the border. Mickey then says that they need to get some money. Ian suggests that they go to the bank, and Mickey smiles thinking he's suggesting they rob the place. When they get to the bank, Ian tells Mickey that they're going to do this his way. To Mickeys shock, he sees that Ian has a bank account that he has been saving his money from work. The bank teller asks Ian if he's sure he wants to withdraw the money as it would be all the money in his bank account, Ian look at Mickey, nods and says "Yea, All of it".
Mickey and Ian look up at the night sky
Later that night, Ian and Mickey sit on a blanket under a bridge. Mickey hits Ian and Ian asks why he did so, Mickey responds by saying "You never visited me", Ian says that he didn't because it was hard to see him behind the glass. Ian asks if Mickey is having second thoughts about going to Mexico, and Mickey says no, since he isn't leaving anything or anyone behind, since Ian had his back more than anyone else in his life. They then lay down on the blanket and look up at the moon and stars, (this is a call back to season 2 where Mickey says 'Jesus Christ, you wanna spread a blanket out and look for shooting stars next?" making fun of Ian when he's talking to him about how he should go back to high school). Mickey asks Ian if he ever thought back in the day that this is where they would be, Ian jokes with him bit and then Mickey asks if Ian ever thought about him when he was in prison, and Ian says "a lot".

The next day. Mickey is in a dress and heels, so that border patrol doesn't recognise him. Their plan is to pretend to be on vacation but Ian tells Mickey that he cant do it anymore. Mickey says he can and tells Ian to get behind the wheel and drive. Ian gives Mickey the remainder of the money, but Mickey won't accept it and says that he doesn't want his money, and that he wants him to come with him to Mexico. Ian puts the money in the car and says that he loves Mickey but this isn't him anymore (alluding to the fact that he's off his medication now). He apologises to Mickey and tries to touch his face but Mickey dodges his hand away. They then share a goodbye kiss, and Mickey says 'Fuck you Gallagher", gets in the car, puts on a wig on and drives away. Ian watches from afar to make sure that Mickey crosses the border safely, after he sees him drive into Mexico he smiles and continues looking out onto the car.
Ian then catches a bus back to Chicago, and tells Trevor that he had been with Mickey the entire time.
Season 8[]
Ian's Season 8 Mania[]
Season 8 is the only season of Shameless where Mickey does not make an appearance. Ian is off his medication during this season due to a myriad of factors. His relationship with Trevor has been rocky ever since he ran off to Mexico, his mother has passed and many theorise he also deeply regrets not going to Mexico with Mickey. Nevertheless, him being off his medication causes him to have a manic episode in which he sets a van on fire and begins a new religious movement. All of this leads to his arrest in the finale of the season.
Season 9[]
In season 9 Ian is in jail after his manic episodes of the last season. Once he gets out, he begins taking his medications regularly, and sees the damages his antics have caused others. His lawyer advises him to take a plea deal but others around him believe he should go to trial as to bring more attention to the cause. His family tells him that a plea deal is best but Ian is conflicted between all these thought processes. He actually shows up to Terry Milkovich's house (Mickey's Father) and asks what prison is like long term. In this conversation Terry talks about constant beatings and rapings in jail, Ian is surprised and asks if he was raped, Terry says no and that Milkoviches don't bottom, and Ian says the fan favourite line of 'Was Mickey adopted?". He goes to court and pleads guilty by reason of insanity which gives him only 2 years in prison as apposed to the 10-15 years he would get if pleading innocent.
Together Forever Behind Bars[]
Mickey and Ian are reunited in jail
In episode 6 "Face it, You're Gorgeous", Ian says his final goodbyes to his family, as he prepares for his prison sentence. Ian goes to his prison cell and is facing the wall. The door behind him opens and shuts and Ian prepares to meet his cell mate, His cell mate is actually Mickey! Mickey informs Ian that he ratted out the cartel he worked for in Mexico and that in exchange he gets to pick where he gets locked up in prison. Ian is shocked and extremely happy, Mickey gets on the bottom bunk, and "Pink + White" by Frank Ocean begins to play, as the two kiss on the prison bed.

Ian and Mickey bicker in jail
In season 10 episode 2, Ian and Mickey make their first appearance together after the 6th episode of season 9. Things seem to be going well for them at first as Ian is going to have sex with Mickey and they seem happy, until Mickey throws him off the bed sensing the smell of mayonnaise since that's what Ian has been using as lube in prison and Mickey is sick of it, saying he feels like he's having sex with a potato salad. They have been fighting and bickering a lot in jail and other inmates seem to be tired of them. Ian seeks advice on what they should do about this from another Inmate, the inmate says that Ian should stab him and go to solitary for a few weeks so that him and Mickey get a bit of time apart. Ian brings this up to Mickey, and he gets angry saying that Ian is dumping him, and that he will dump Ian first, they then both search for the shiv to stab the inmate, Chester. At this moment the prison goes on lockdown. After this, they both run to Chester and both end up stabbing him. The prison guard sees this and informs them that Chester does this often in order to stay in prison. The guard takes both of them in a separate room, where they continue to bicker and argue. The guard tells them to shut up or he will murder them.

In the next episode we see they still have yet to find peace in jail together, but a prison guard comes in and gives Ian a letter. its from the parole office, telling him that he has a hearing for his parole soon. He is shocked since he thought he would be in prison for at least a year before he could be eligible for release and parole, (it has been about 6 months in jail this point of the show). Mickey is noticeably upset and says "good for you" in an angry and upset tone and leaves. Ian is confused on why Mickey is angry. Ian then chats with a few inmate who ask him if he has had "the talk" with Mickey yet. Ian is visibly confused and they tell him that they need to talk about what their arrangement would be if Ian gets out of prison, would they do long distance? are they free to pursue other relationships? etc. Ian confronts Mickey about this and asks if they can wait for each other, but Mickey is still a bit mad and says that if Ian had felt differently about the parole hearing like for example wanting to throw his parole to be with him because he did the same getting in prison with him, then it would be different. Ian questions this and asks if throwing his parole to be stuck in prison with him will make him happy and Mickey answers yes it would, so Ian decides that he will throw his parole to stay with Mickey. Later Ian calls Lip for advice and when he doesn't answer he calls Debbie to ask where lip is, Debbie informs him that Tami had lips baby, but Tami is in the hospital still, but they get cut off before Ian can hear the whole story. Ian tells Mickey this. Later, Mickey talks to a few of the inmates about how he feels guilty asking Ian to throw his parole, they tell him that its better to let Ian go, and that its better for the both of them so they don't end up resenting each other. When Ian goes to stab another inmate to stay in prison longer, Mickey and a few other inmates drag him away before he can do it. They take Ian up to their cell, and Mickey gets angry asking Ian why he was gonna stab someone, Ian responds that he wants to be with him, and Mickey tells him that its better he leaves prison and that he doesn't get to be with him right now. Ian says that he wants to be where Mickey is, and Mickey says that he should have never asked Ian to stay. Ian then says "I love you" and Mickey responds saying 'I know, I love you too" and they kiss. This is the first time they both have said I love you to each other. Later at night, Mickey pays for a 5 minute FaceTime call for Ian to have with Lip and see the baby, This makes Ian very happy and he shows gratitude to Mickey for doing this gesture.
Ians Release from Jail[]
In episode 5 of season 10 "Sparky", Ian is released from jail and meets with parole officer, she is actually doing insurance fraud scams and Ian is deeply uncomfortable with her threats and constant criminal and deranged behaviour, but she blackmails Ian saying he will send fake drug tests if Ian doesn't cooperate with her scams. In a car ride with Lip, Ian talks about his and Mickey's relationship in jail and his love for Mickey. Later, His family throws him a welcome back from prison party in which Lip asks Ian if him and Mickey are going to get married, Ian responds saying "Fuck no".
Gallavich Reunited... Outside of Jail![]

In episode 6 of the season, Mickey attempts to escape from prison, but is caught. The prison warden informs Mickey that he's actually already free due to compassionate release, but the cartel is after him, since he snitched on them to choose to be locked up with Ian. Mickey gets majorly paranoid after this and on the bus ride from the Prison to Chicago he spots a black van following the bus. He jumps out of the bus but it turns out to be his parole officer. Meanwhile, Ian is still deeply anxious about the insurance scams that his PO is throwing him into, he feels guilty that he isn't helping people, and is running scams. When Ian is in his room Changing. Mickey climbs through the window. Ian is shocked that mickeys been released but also incredibly happy, they kiss and Ian embraces him, happy to be together again. Later Ians PO threatens Ian with a gun, and Mickey tries to protect Ian, but he tells Mickey to let it go and talks with his PO. Mickey then talks with Lip and asks if he has seen Ian or not, concerned about him.
Ian and Mickey say thank you and flip off Sandy after she calls them domestic
In season 10 episode 7, Sandy (Mickey's cousin) drops off a few of Mickeys clothes and things, since Mickey has moved in with Ian. Ian and Mickey share a cute moment where Ian offers to buy Mickey groceries and such and their relationship is going strong. Mickey's PO gets him a job as a security guard in a clothing store. When Ian doesn't receive the cheque he is owed at work, he rants to Mickey about it while having lunch together at the food court of the mall Mickey works at. Mickey tries to tell Ian to calm down but Ian is threatening to kill his PO. The PO then sits down with the two of them and says that she is now Mickey's PO as well. she tells them that she has a 2 person job for them. The job proves to be dangerous involving Mickey throwing someone out of a window. Later that night, Mickey says that Ian was right and they have to kill the PO.
The First Proposal[]
Ian proposes to Mickey for the first time over patty melts
In the next episode, We see that someone pushes the PO out of a window at her apartment. News of this reaches Ian and Mickey as the police come to tell them that they need to be questioned. Ian and Mickey have a conversation where they both miscommunicate and think that the other killed Paula (the PO). Ian is then conflicted because he believes that Mickey killed Paula but he also doesn't want to testify against Mickey, He learns about spousal privilege from a police officer he talks to later in the day. Essentially spousal privilege protects married couples from testifying against each other as to not strain the relationships of married individuals. Mickey talks to his father about how he believes Ian killed Paula, and how he wants to protect him, his cousins then tell him about spousal privilege, but obviously his father is extremely against this and gets extremely angry, telling Mickey if he marries Ian it'll be over for both of them. Ian and Mickey meet at Patsy's Pies and Ian thanks Mickey for meeting him, Mickeys weirded out by the formality and sees that Ian clearly wants to tell him something. Ian says they should get married in order to obtain spousal privilege, Mickey says that legal reasoning is a bad reason to get married, and Ian says "No we fucking love each other that's why were gonna get married" but Mickey is still a bit reluctant. Ian then says that He loves and trusts Mickey and asks if he does so too, he reaches his hand out and they hold hands. Ian asks Mickey if he wants to fit in getting married into their schedule and Mickey says "fuck it, I do". Ian and Mickey show up at the courthouse to get married, both are visually very happy and kiss, until Mickey receives a notification from his previous PO, that Paula's killer has been found. Mickey and Ian both realise they misunderstood one another, and argue about how they thought it was each other that killed Paula. They are then called up to sign their marriage certificate application, and continue to argue about this. Mickey asks if this is the only reason Ian proposed to him, Ian says no it isn't but Mickey doesn't believe him. The worker asks if they should proceed and Mickey responds saying yes they should, and signs the paper, but when it gets to Ian, he goes to signs the papers but he simply pauses before he can actually sign them and looks up at Mickey signalling that he cant do it. Mickey storms out furious at Ian, and Ian follows him into an elevator where Ian says that since Monica and Frank were bad marital role models (and frankly every relationship he has seen has ended in failure), he can't really commit to the idea of marriage yet. He continues to say that he loves Mickey, and follows Mickey out into a a flight of stairs where he says "it's marriage I'm not sure I love". Ian continues to ask Mickey if they can talk about this, but Mickey is ignoring him, after Ian continues to ask him if they can have a conversation Mickey goes up the stairs and punches Ian down the flight of stairs. We can see that Ian is seriously hurt, and that Mickey regrets pushing him down.

Ian is in shock after Mickey says he is in love with Byron
In episode 9 "O Captain, My Captain", Ian wakes up happily holding a pillow similar to the way he would hold Mickey, he then wakes up with noise of a motorcycle outside, we can see that Ian has actually broken his leg from the fall in the previous episode. Ian looks outside and sees Mickey with another man and a Vespa. This guys name is Byron. When Ian comes outside Mickey is making out with Byron, Mickey looks at Ian, says hello nonchalantly and comes into the home. While having breakfast everyone tells Ian that him leaving Mickey at the alter messed the relationship up, but Ian is adamant that Mickey will work this out of his system and they can talk to each other again soon. Ian goes upstairs and sees Mickey packing his things to move in with Byron. Mickey tells Ian that he is in love with Byron, Ian is shocked and believes Mickey genuinely loves Byron since when Ian asks him how he knows since they haven't been together long, Mickey says "when you know, you know.". Ian seeks advice about what he should do with his family, and Debbie says that he should marry Mickey. Ian and Liam then go wedding ring shopping together. Meanwhile, Mickey and Byrons relationship is not at all what Mickey has painted it out to be, Mickey doesn't want to sleep in the same bed as him and it's clear that he cant really stand Byron. Ian has picked out rings and goes to Lip before meeting with Mickey to propose. Lip tells Ian that they should get married someday but first asks Ian to reflect and figure out why he doest want to get married, in the first place. Ian goes to Byrons apartment, where Byron tells Ian to take Mickey back. Mickey comes down and Ian gives him a ring, Mickey asks if it's an engagement ring and Ian responds saying that it's a promise ring. Mickey is upset at this and asks if Ian is kidding, Ian is serious and shows him that he also has one tied around his neck. Ian says that Gallaghers and marriage don't mix well, but he will keep his promise to Mickey. Mickey tells Ian that this is a stupid gesture and that he has his ring not even on his finger but around his neck tucked away. Mickey says that this just symbolises that Ian doesn't love him enough to get married now. As Mickey walks away, Ian asks how Mickey even knows that he loves him stating "I'm Bipolar, right? I don't know who I am one day to the next, I cant guarantee shit, so why do you wanna spend the rest of your life with me?". Mickey gets angry and tells Ian that whenever he gets over his 'I'm not worthy of love" mindset to give him a call. Ian crutches away crying, and then pees in Byrons Vespas oil tank.
The Second Proposal[]

In episode 10 "Now Leaving Illinois", Ian goes outside Byron and Mickeys apartment to drop off Mickeys things, (its just one piece of clothing), but Ian is clearly there to talk to Mickey. Byron is trying to fix the vespa which has been broken due to Ians actions last episode. Ian asks if he and Mickey can talk to one another, alone, but Mickey says "Anything you gotta say to me you can say in front of the love of my life Byron", Ian then says that it was a mistake coming and starts to leave, as he's about to go, Byron says that him and Mickey are attending a show that night, and that Ian should come, Ian immediately takes this up and Byron asks if he needs a plus one, Mickey says Ian has a lot of personal work he needs to do before he can date, but Ian says that he actually has a plus one, they barely know each other but "when you know, you know", making Mickey extremely jealous. Ian then hops on Grindr to desperately try to find a plus one, he finds a guy named Cole, and they attend the event together. Important to note, neither Cole nor Byron are at all Ian and Mickeys types, and it's clear they both don't have feelings for them. At the event, Byron trash talks Mickey and insults him, and tells his friends that he wishes Ian takes Mickey back and that's why he invited him there. Ian overhears this conversation and tells Byron that he's convinced him to take Mickey back, but then tells Byron that he's "not the kinda guy who lets people talk shit about the man he loves" and punches and fights him and his friends. Mickey then punches Cole when he hears Cole talk about how hot Ian looks fighting Byron and his friends. Mickey goes up to Ian and Ian looks up at him (Ian is on the ground kneeling since he has been fighting Byron and his friends so it looks like he is down on one knee) He tells Mickey that he loves him more than anything and "If [Mickey'll] let [him], [he] would like to spend the rest of his life with [him]". Mickey tells Ian to "save the fucking speech" and says "I'll marry you, of course I'll fucking marry you". Ian gets up and they kiss in the middle of the bar. the two of them walk back home (the Gallagher home) happy and teasing each other.

In episode 11, "Location, Location, Location", Terry (Mickeys father) shows up outside the Gallagher home, threatening Mickey, calling him names, and telling him that he will put a bullet in his head if he marries Ian. Mickey pulls a gun out and asks him why he's waiting to do it, and Terry pulls out a gun and says "you must really love cock.", Mickey responds saying "I definitely love one". Mickey then enters full groomzilla mode. Mickey asks Ian how the guest list is going, and what size reception they need, Ian is confused since he didn't think they were going to have a big wedding because a bit ago they were just going to get married at city hall. Mickey says that he will do anything to make Terry more miserable. Mickey is really getting into his groomzilla role telling Ian about how they need acolytes, and soloists, and specifically one that can do "Livin' on a Prayer" acoustic version. Mickey and Ian go shopping for flowers, where the florist says that they won't work with them after finding out they are gay, Mickey freaks out on the florist and Ian has to take him away. Later Mickey also blows up at Ian and a caterer for not having gold Chiavari chairs with white cushions, but he later apologises to Ian for putting too much on his plate. Mickey then enlists the help of Sandy (His cousin) with the rest of the wedding plans. Sandy notifies Mickey that Terry is freaking out and creating hollow tip bullets to shoot Ian and Mickey with. Later at the Alibi, Mickey is stressed out with all the wedding plans, when someone begins to sing "Livin' on a Prayer" on an acoustic guitar, Mickey is confused and asks how he knows that, and he tells him that a little birdie told him and points to Ian. Mickey tells Ian that he's a sneaky bastard, smiles and they hold hands joyfully.

The finale of season 10 "Gallavich!" is the first and only time the fan ship name is used as an episode title and said in the episode. This episode revolves around Ian and Mickeys Wedding day. Ian and Mickeys tuxes are hung up on the bed in Ians old room, Mickey has a white Tux and Ian a black one. They're very nice tuxedos, so Carl asks where Mickey is getting all the money for the wedding supplies, Ian says that he's saying he's getting them from his savings, and this is when we see that Mickey has actually been robbing a bunch of places in order to get the money. Mickey comes into the room and asks Ian if he has taken his meds to which Ian says he has and they begin to kiss and have sex. A little later, they find out that the Bamboo Lotus, their wedding venue has been set on fire, when they get to the venue it's clear that Terry was the one who set fire to it. Mickey grabs a gun to kill Terry with but Ian chases him and punches him so he cant pursue Terry. Carl, Debbie, Sandy, Ian and Mickey then discuss what they will do now that they don't have a venue, everyone suggests they just postpone the wedding, however they decide on finding a new place to host the wedding quickly. The gang begins to search for more venues but nothing seems to work, Mickey is adamant on killing his dad so he has been hand cuffed. While everyone says that they need to find a new venue, Mickey blows up talking about how awful his father is and saying that he loves Ian and that Terry will never let him be happy so he needs to die. In this moment Lip says they can do it at the Polish doll, which is a polish bar. Ian says the place isn't very gay friendly as they keep a Louisville slugger behind the bar in order to "fix" gay people. Lip says they just won't tell them though. They go to the venue and Lip says that Debbie is the bride and Mickey is groom in order to not raise any suspicion. Mickey and Ian then start getting ready. Ian is tying Mickeys bow tie and asks him if he wants any kids. Mickey says that with Ians mental problems and his families comfort with committing homicides it wouldn't be a good idea, but when Ian says that he wouldn't mind a kid or two, Mickey says they could probably pick a stray up from the neighbourhood. Ian then looks at Mickey and jokingly says "Wow, your an ugly motherfucker", Mickey laughs and responds with "Yea, well at least I don't have to hide in a coffin till' the sun goes up", They laugh and Ian says 'You ready to do this Milkovich?" Mickey says "Damn straight, Gallagher". They then pull up at the venue where we can see Mickey got his gold Chiavari chairs, Ian says they look nice and Mickey says he likes how the gold catches the light. They distract the owner of the Polish doll, by telling her that Debbie, "the bride" is having second thoughts and to go comfort her. Meanwhile Liam has convinced Frank (Ians Father) to come to the wedding. Frank shows up with a Mercedes, that Liam plans on giving Mickey and Ian as their wedding present for the night. Meanwhile Terry figures out where the new venue is, but when he shows up, he is surrounded by Ians old religious friends causing him to leave. Lip shares a moment with Ian as his best man, they hug and Ian tells the pastor they are ready. "At Last" by Etta James begins playing and Franny (Ians niece) spreads rose petals across the aisle. Mickey is then walked down the Aisle by Sandy. Their wedding is done in true Ian and Mickey Fashion, with Ian having a cast on his broken leg that he received when he was punched by Mickey, and Mickey having a bruised eye given to him by Ians punch earlier in the day. Ian and Mickey then say the Catholic wedding vows following the pattern of, "I (Ian/Mikhailo) take you (Ian/Mikhailo), to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward for better, or for worse, richer, or poorer, sickness and in health, to love and to cherish you till death do us part.". The priest then declares them husband and husband Ian asks "now?" referring to if he can kiss Mickey and the priest says "yes, now." they kiss passionately, and everyone claps and tears up (including Frank). They walk down the aisle together and they begin dancing. Later at the party, Ian says he misses their mother to Debbie, and Debbie says "Monica would have loved today". Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" begins to play and Ian says "I should probably go dance with my husband.". Ian and Mickey then slow dance emotionally to the song. Ian and Mickey then drive off in a Mercedes as everyone cheers and throws rice and confetti (condoms) at the happy couple. In the post credit scene of the episode, we see Ian and Mickey in their Honeymoon suite where Ian says "Good Morning Mr. Gallavich" and Mickey responds saying "Good Morning Mr. Millagher?" they laugh and then they go to have sex again they hear a car pull by, the 2 roll off the bed as their hotel room gets shot up, Ian tells Mickey that his dad is still mad, and Mickey nods.

The Honeymoon Phase is Over[]
Ian and Mickey kiss 6 months after getting married
In season 11 episode 1 we can see that the pandemic has effected Ian and Mickeys relationship, They have been married for 6 moths up to this point, and since the job market has gone downhill, Ian is working at an Amazon warehouse, nevertheless their relationship seems relatively solid. They kiss but Ian is upset that Mickey hasn't gotten a job yet. Ian says that if Mickey doesn't get a job soon he will dig into their wedding present money instead of saving it up to buy their own place. Mickey says that he can get money illegally very quickly but Ian says that he doesn't want Mickey to end up back in jail. Ian looks at the wedding money to pay for utilities and that but sees that the box is filled with IOU's. Mickey tells Ian he's good for it, but Ian says that is not the point, and that Mickey shouldn't be spending their money, they need to be making these decisions together now that they're married. Ian talks to his coworkers and Lip about this and later in the day decides to have a conversation with Mickey. Ian says that they can no longer have any secrets between them, they both set a bit of boundaries and decide that they will be monogamous.
In the next episode, Ian continues telling Mickey that he needs to get a legal job or he won't be getting any more sex, going as far as telling him that his warehouse is hiring, Mickey though doesn't seem to care too much and says that he is still on his honeymoon. Later in the day Mickey is watching TV, Riverdale pops up and he is watching Joaquin and Kevins kiss in season 1, he goes to jerk off to it but it goes to commercial where a guy is advertising South Side community college, he tells the audience to get up out of the couch, stop disappointing the people they love and do something with their life. Mickey seeing this decides to go to Ians warehouse, the interview doesn't go too well, but Mickey once he sees Ian, tries harder to get the job, although he ends up blowing up and yelling at the hiring manager stating "Fuck you, fuck you, and especially fuck you" a reference back to season 2. Mickey then gets a bunch of money by selling the expired foods at Ians work to a prison chef, meanwhile Ian receives his first paycheque which doesn't add up to all the hours he worked, he's informed by his coworkers that they will do anything to keep their wage under 40 hours. Later in the day Mickey teases Ian with all the money he has earned.
In the next episode, Ian and Mickey are having sex, when Mickey goes to switch positions with Ian, but Ian is uncomfortable with this and leaves. this prompts them to talk about who is the "woman" in their relationship so they ask their family, its a 50/50 mix and they fight about this a bit. Mickey is then prompted to work out because he wants it to be clear that he is the "man" in their relationship, and he believes that the only reason Ian thinks he's the man is because he "sticks it to [him]" and works out. Ian asks his coworkers about their thoughts on the relationship and if a relationship can ever truly be a 50/50 split. His coworker says no it cant be and says that since Ian does more work for less pay, he's the "woman". Later in the day, Ians boss tells him that he needs to work overtime into his lunch break, Ian refuses blows up at his boss and quits the job. Simultaneously, Mickey makes a deal with Kev and V to run security for their money from the bar to the casino to the bank, and they agree. Ian shows up at the Alibi to drink and things between him and Mickey are awkward. Mickey starts calling Ian a bitch and saying that he should be a housewife, this makes Ian angry and he begins mot fight Ian, the 2 then start punching and hitting one another until V snaps at them telling them that they need to clean up their language, and that there is no men or women in a marriage just partners, and that they need to stop keeping score. This snaps a bit of sense into them but they continue bickering at their house.
Gallavich Security Company[]
Mickey shows concern for Ian because he seems depressed
In "NIMBY" Ian and Mickey watches as the Milkoviches move next door to the Gallaghers which deeply concerns many members of the Gallagher clan. Later, Ian is depressed and eating fruit loops on the couch, Mickey asks him what his plans are for the day, to which Ian doesn't say anything, when Mickey asks again, Ian says that he is trying to find the strength to find a soul crushing minimum wage job to appease his PO with. Mickey then says what if I offer you a job, seeing Ians state, he tells him to stop eating his weight in fruit loops and join his security business, when Ian says that he won't do anything illegal, Mickey reminds him that weed is legal now, Ian then says he doesn't think its a good idea for them to work together, Mickey says get it straight you will be working for me to which Ian respond "Thanks but no thanks". When Ian sees that Mickey is using a gun for the job he tells him that he cant be dong things that land him back in jail like carrying a gun as a convicted felon and gets quite upset at him. They go shopping where Ian tells Mickey that if he wears a military unit sequence uniform no one will mess with him, Mickey says he won't wear that unless Ian does so with him. At first Ian say no way but later agrees. The 2 then pick up Kevins cash and drive to a weed distillery, which is when they get hired by the people there to do security transport for them, for a grand a day. (In a deleted scene we actually see Ian and Mickey come home committed to the Gallagher and Milkovich Security business, Mickey asks if Ian is okay, Ian say "Yea, Why", Mickey responds saying he took losing his job hard and that he thought it might have been a trigger for his bipolar disease. Ian asks if Mickeys goal for the day was to distract him and Mickey says "You were just being all depressed and shit on the couch man", Ian says that he is fine and that Mickey worries too much, Mickey then says "Well I gotta worry, you're my husband" and the two kiss)
In episode 5 "Slaughter", the two continue bickering playfully while running their business together. Ian feels as though they are being followed and he is correct, Mickeys cousin Lou, robs the 2 but takes pity on them since he and Mickey are related, only taking a grand of cash. Later, Ian says that they will need a new ride since word is clearly out that they are handling large sums of cash in an SUV. Ian then calls an ambulance on his "grandmother" and while the EMT's travel up an apartment to go get her, Ian and Mickey hop in and steal the ambulance. Ian is having a lot of fun with this since he used to be an EMT and enjoys riding the ambulance again, he tells Mickey that they can now carry guns and asks he get one too "and not some pansy ass shot gun, if someone fucks with me, I want them staring down the gaping maw of 12 gauge shot gun", the 2 then go to have sex and begin making out in the back of the ambulance until they see a dead body, the 2 take the body under a bridge and leave. Ian says that Debbie can help them make some adjustments to the ambulance for their security business.
Ian tells Mickey that he is better than Terry
In episode 6, Mickey helps Lip out by robbing his previous workplace. Debbie also makes adjustments to Ian and Mickeys ambulance this episode. Ian and Mickey continue their security business, on their way to work they see mickeys family arguing over who should take care of Terry since he quadriplegic (meaning he has paralysis from the neck down). Ian and Mickey continue their day and Mickey continues talking about his father. Ian notes that this is the mots he has ever heard Mickey talk about his dad and Mickey says that he wishes the nurses did him a favour and just killed Terry. Later the 2 see Mickeys family attempting to bring Terry inside the Milkovich house, Mickey watches emotionally and Ian asks if he is okay, Mickey says yes he is but its just strange to see Terry in pain like that and that if he wanted to he could easily walk up, kill or early injure Terry. Later in the day, as the are driving to all their distilleries Mickey makes a stop at the house, Ian is weirded out until he sees Mickey pull out a gun and approach Terry who is out on the lawn of the home since no one carries him inside, Ian tries to stop Mickey and tells him to pause and think if its worth it, but Terry continues to ridicule and bait Mickey, Mickey gets very close to shooting Terry, before walking away. Later when the 2 come back from work they hear Terry complaining outside that he wants to be let in, Mickey yells at him to shut angrily, Ian then asks if Mickey would take care of him if he was paralysed, and Mickey says that he would. Mickey and Ian then go outside and they both help bring Terry up the stairs of the Milkovich home. They walk away and Ian tells Mickey that was big of him and Mickey says that Terry is an asshole and he wants to be better than that, and Ian looks at him holds him and says "Hey, you are so much better than that". At the end of the episode Lip says that he would like to sell the Gallagher house, to which Ian and Mickey seem on board.
Ian and Mickey dance to "Rain on Me" together
In the next episode, the topic of selling the house is brought up again, when Lip says that this doesn't concern Mickey because he isn't family Ian fight back saying "Mickey's Family". Debbie says that the only reason Ian is on board is because Lip is, and makes fun of Ian for having Lip as his only friend, Mickey joins in on the fun. Ian is the pressured into voting no on selling the house. Later, Mickey is looking at apartments in the neighbourhood for the 2 of them and Ian decides he's changing his vote to say he will sell the house, Mickey says that Ian needs friends who aren't Lip, and Ian says that he does have friends besides Lip, Mickey asks "who? don't say me", Ian responds "You, alright what friends have you got, don't say me" Mickey says "You" Ian the says "Alright neither of us have friends.". Ian then convinces Mickey that they need to go and find friends who are gay, and Mickey is not on board with this but Ian ends up convincing him. They then find some guys in a furniture store and later go to their house, they get to talking and Ian doesn't like them because they keep talking badly out the Southside and his family, but Mickey convinces him to stay so they ca keep munching on free food. Then they begin dancing to rain on me and start stripping, Ian and Mickey want to leave, but Mickey reminds Ian that if they fuck they no longer have to be friends with them so they stay. At night, Ian and Mickey come home and Ian says that he's okay if Lip is his only friend for now, and Ian changes his vote to sell the house, but before he can say anything Lip storms in breaks a wall yelling that he is going to sell the house. In the post credits we see Ian and Mickey jamming it out to Rain on Me in the bathroom together.
Terry's Paralysis[]
In episode 8 "Cancelled", Ian and Mickey are getting ready to leave for work when Mickey says that they should go check on Terry, they notice that no one has checked up on him in a while, none of Mickeys Family wants to do it so Mickey suggests they find a nurse to take care of Terry, but Ian is opposed to this, Mickey says family is family no matter what and that they should take care of him and Ian reluctantly agrees. Ian finds Terry a nurse and when the 2 leave the Milkovich home, Mickey is thanking Ian for doing this, until they see the nurse run out of the home, since she couldn't handle Terry's racism. They hire a second nurse who also leaves. While Ian is out getting a 3rd nurse, Mickey is home feeding Terry, they have a "heart to heart" where Terry says that Mickey would have made a half-decent son if he hadn't been gay, and Mickey says that Terry would have made a half decent dad had he not been a racist violent homophobe who beat him up regularly. Ian then brings in a Nun to be Terrys 3rd nurse, who seemed to be doing well handling Terry. Mickey seems very worried about Terry which Ian finds strange but nevertheless they go back and check up on Terry. To their shock and horror they discover that the Nun has suffocated Terry.
Ian kisses Mickey's forehead after they set Terry's grave on fire
In "Survivors", Mickey is upset and crying about his father who died, Ian says that he knows that Terry is his dad but he was also a terrible human being who hated them, but Mickey is irreconcilable, blaming the death on Ian since he hired the nun, when Ian questions Mickey a bit, Mickey opens up that he doesn't know wether he is upset that Terry died or angry that he wasn't the one who killed him. The 2 go over to where Terry was staying, and sort through his things, they find a box labeled for Rachel open it and see an address, they believe that it might be one of Terry's old Neo-Nazi girlfriends. When the 2 show up at the door, they find that Rachel and a Black man, her husband live there, they are a bit confused since Terry was a raging racist. They go inside and talk to Rachel, and Mickey talk about his father passing. Rachel then tells Ian and Mickey, that Terry was her first love, and that they were going to get married, but her family was jewish and her father aid he would only let them marry if Terry converted to Judaism and learned Hebrew. When Terry approached him again saying he converted to judaism but learning Hebrew was hard, her father said that a deals a deal and that he cant marry Rachel. Terry then killed Rachel's father, but the police could never prove it. Ian asks if Terry knew that Rachel married a black man, and she said he did, so the 2 then realise this is the root of Terry's white supremacist, Neo-nazi, racist ideals. At the obituary they discover that since Terry's body has not been claimed, the state has put him in a mass grave for those whose body is never picked up. The two go to the cemetery and since Terry's wish was to be cremated, they light his grave on fire and Mickey says a final "Fuck you Terry". Ian then kisses Mickeys forehead and they watch the grave burn.
Apartment Purchase[]
In "DNR" Ian and Mickey search for an apartment, they figure that when they sell the house thy can get a bout 25k and rent an apartment and expand their business. They find an apartment for 900$ a month but it's on the west side so Ian says it won't work, but Mickey says they should go check it out anyway. When they go to the apartment they realise that it's actually super nice, it's fitted with a fireplace, garbage disposal, a pool and gym. Ian tells Mickey that he thinks they should do this, aka rent the apartment. Mickey though is against this and says he just wanted to check it out. Ian says they should just at least look at the lease but Mickey walks away before Ian can talk to him. Mickey walk around the west side bit and doesn't like it at all, Ian then comes up to Mickey and says that he signed the lease, Mickey is upset and walks away from him. The 2 show up back at the Gallagher home, and Mickey says that he wants to take a shower but Lip says that the hot water is still out, so Mickey gets pissed off, Ian tells Lip to ignore him and that He's just pissed that they're renting on the west side, but Mickey responds saying its Lips fault they have to move anyway. The family is surprised they already found an apartment, Mic key then bumps into Lip making him drop his pliers, the 2 then get into an argument and begin fighting one another, Ian gets in between them and breaks up the fight. later he comes out side an talks to Lip, he tells him that if he hits his husband again he'll fucking kill him.

In the penultimate episode of the series, Ian and Mickey are spending their first night at their apartment, Ian is getting a good nights rest but Mickey is uncomfortable with the silence, so Mickey goes back to the Gallagher home and to Ians old room and sleeps there. Mickey goes back to their apartment the next morning, and Ian asks where he was, Mickey lies and says he went on a walk early in the morning, Ian is happy they rented the place but Mickey isn't thrilled, however he's trying to hide it from Ian. Ian is checking out the amenities of the place, like the gym and pool for example. Meanwhile Mickey does laundry and other things. When Mickey goes to ask where their furniture is, the on-site manager informs him that the furniture was just placed there for real estate showing and that the apartment comes unfurnished, when Mickey hears this he goes ballistic, he goes to the pool area and tries to get the chairs from there, when he sees Ian he gets more mad and throws the chairs into the pool. Later Ian meets Mickey back at the Gallagher house. At the house Ian questions why Mickey is so uncomfortable with the west side, Mickey says he feels too much pressure there, and Ian says if he doesn't like it there they can move back, Mickey is weirded out and asks why and Ian responds saying "Cause' you're my husband.". Mickey then agrees to move back to their apartment and they kiss.
One Year Anniversary[]

In the Finale, Mickey signals to Kev that he should tell everyone to meet at the Alibi at 7 for half off drinks. Ian and Mickey pick up a few of their supplies from the Gallagher house, like a mattress for example, which Mickey wants to take because there are "too many good memories stained into [it]". Ian asks if Mickey knows what day it is, 20th or 21st, Mickey says he has no Idea, and Ian says it's the 21st (Ian is hinting that it is their wedding anniversary, but Mickey is not catching the hint). They go to Kev and V's house to pick up a few things for free. While there Ian said "Take a look at this crib" Mickey asks what he means by that and that a "crime means a baby". Ian says yea let's move it, Mickey says hell no, and Ian asks why not, Mickey says that if they have a crib they have to put a baby in it. Ian says that its a viable option down the road, Mickey asks where they can even get a baby, Ian jokes that they can steal one but when he sees the worried look on Mickey's face, he says that they can probably get a neglected Milkovich child from Mickeys Family. Ian sees the worried expression on Mickeys face and asks what's wrong, Mickey says he would be a bad dad, and is worried he would be the same way his father wad to him, Ian comforts him and tells him that he would be a great dad and they hug. Everyone meets at the Alibi and sets up for Ian and Mickeys 1 year anniversary. As Ian and Mickey pull up to the Alibi, but Ian says he doesn't want to go, Mickey says let's just have a beer and then go. Ian asks if he seriously doesn't know what today is, and Mickey says "I don't know, Thursday?", Ian says that it's the 21st, their wedding anniversary. Mickey plays it off as if he doesn't know, but when they walk in, The alibi is decorated and everyone surprises them yelling happy anniversary. Everyone yells at Ian to do a speech, and he just says "I love this man" kisses Mickey and the 2 enjoy the festivities. At the party, Lip tells Ian that he and Tami may be having another child, Ian says that maybe he and Mickey could take it off their hands. At the end of the episode they all sing "The Way We Get By" by Spoon, an Ian and Mickey wrap their arms around each other laughing with the Gallaghers as they watch a car burning.

Many people theorise that Mickey had previous knowledge of Ian being gay and that is why he would be bold enough to make the first move in episode 7 of season 1. It's thought that perhaps he had heard Ian when he told Mandy he was gay outside the Milkovich house. Many also think that Mickey has had a crush on on Ian long before the hook up, and that's perhaps why Mickey stole from the Kash and Grab so often to see his crush, Ian.
Trivia[]
The first time that Ian and Mickey say I love you to each other is in season 10! Previously Ian has referred to Mickey as "the man [I] love" in season 3. Mickey had said "I love you" to Ian in season 5 over voicemail, but Ian did not receive the message and in the season 5 finale but Ian was manic at the time and didn't believe Mickey truly loved him. Ian also says he loves Mickey in season 7 episode 11 before Mickey leaves for Mexico but Mickey doesn't respond.
Ian and Mickey season 10 kiss after Ian proposes the second time at the bar is supposed to mirror their kiss back in season 4 at the bar Ian worked at, but within the actual episode it was cut short, and with no music, making it less impactful then the season 4 one.
Cameron Monaghan (Ians actor) broke his leg playing soccer and therefore the writers had to write him getting injured in season 10 of the show! that's why when Mickey punches Ian he dramatically falls down many stairs to make it so that there is an explanation for Cameron's broken leg within the show.
Noel Fisher (Mickey's actor) refused to make out with any other actors besides Cameron Monaghan in season 10, which is why when he is kissing Byron it looks so unnatural.
