Gallbar is the slash ship between Gallus and Sandbar from the My Little Pony fandom.

Canon

In the season eight premiere "School Daze - Part 1 and Part 2", both Gallus and Sandbar enroll in Twilight Sparkle's School of Friendship as students, with Gallus having been brought to Ponyville by Grandpa Gruff to represent the Griffons. The boys are the first of the Young Six to meet with each other, though Gallus acts sarcastic towards Sandbar. When Twilight's strict adherence to the Equestria Education Association's guidelines causes the school courses to be dull and boring, Gallus antagonizes his fellow students, Sandbar included, out of frustration, only getting along with the equally standoffish Smolder. When Gallus and Sandbar later cut class with Smolder, Yona, Ocellus, and Silverstream, the six hang out together and end up becoming good friends. When they return to school for Friends and Family Day, they accidentally ruin the event and cause damage to the school, Chancellor Neighsay of the EEA perceives their fun and games as an attack orchestrated by non-pony creatures, and the offended tribe leaders pull their students out of school. Not wanting to say goodbye to each other, the Young Six go into hiding at the Castle of the Two Sisters, and Sandbar—the only pony in the group—delivers food and supplies for them from Ponyville. Though the students have fun together at first, they soon come under attack by ferocious puckwudgies, and the Mane Six save them. When Sandbar, Gallus, and their friends are asked to come back to school, they are reluctant to continue their boring lessons, but Twilight and the others assure them things will be better and more fun than before. After Twilight defies the authority of Chancellor Neighsay and reopens the School of Friendship, they happily return to school with their friends.

In "Horse Play", Sandbar and Gallus take part in Twilight's play about Princess Celestia, along with the rest of their friends, in the roles of Starswirl the Bearded and one of his unicorn wizards respectively.

In "Non-Compete Clause", the boys and their friends go on a teamwork-building field trip with Applejack and Rainbow Dash. For most of the trip, Applejack and Rainbow Dash's arguing over who will be the next teacher of the month disrupts the planned activities, and ultimately causes them to become trapped over a ravine, with the Young Six having to work together to save them.

In "Molt Down", Sandbar and Gallus appear on the school's balcony with Silverstream, and later in the library alongside Smolder and Yona.

In "Marks for Effort", Gallus and Sandbar are among the students attending Fluttershy's class, and later exit the school after a test with the rest of the Young Six.

In "A Matter of Principals", Sandbar, Gallus, and their classmates are shown various magical artifacts by Twilight just before she is summoned by the Cutie Map. They are later present when Starlight Glimmer apologizes to Discord for not including him and offers him the job of "vice headmare".

In "The Hearth's Warming Club", Sandbar tries to get his friends into the Hearth's Warming spirit by singing carols. After a prank ruins the Hearth's Warming tree, the students are all under suspicion for it and tasked with cleaning up the mess while being questioned. During the cleanup, Sandbar tells his friends about how his Hearth's Warming doll nearly fell into the fireplace a previous year. When Gallus confesses that he was the culprit, resulting in him having to stay for friendship lessons over the holidays, Sandbar and the others all choose to stay with him.

In "Friendship University", Sandbar and Gallus appear with their friends looking at a flyer for the university.

In "The End in Friend", the boys and their classmates observe Rainbow Dash and Rarity as part of Twilight's lesson on compromising in friendship.

In "A Rockhoof and a Hard Place", they are two of the students in Rockhoof's class. Sandbar is the first to recognize his status as one of the Pillars of Old Equestria while Gallus attempts to use the opportunity of having a substitute teacher to get out of homework assignments.

In "What Lies Beneath", Gallus, Sandbar, and their friends start to question their friendship due to comments made by Cozy Glow. During their studies for an upcoming test, they discover a cavern beneath the school, where the Tree of Harmony interacts with them. As part of a test, the Tree traps Gallus in a small room and forces him to confront his fears of small spaces while Sandbar is forced to confront his dual fears of disappointing the teachers he admires and letting his friends down. They escape with the rest of their friends.

In the season eight finale "School Raze", Gallus and his friends go on a field trip to Cloudsdale just before a crisis in Equestria causes magic to start disappearing. After Twilight and her friends leave for Tartarus to investigate, Gallus and his friends discover Chancellor Neighsay taking over the school in their absence, and Neighsay captures them under suspicion of stealing Equestria's magic themselves. After Sandbar and the Cutie Mark Crusaders help them escape and reveal Cozy Glow's true sinister nature, they try to free a magically-trapped Starlight Glimmer, but Cozy catches them and convinces the students to turn on them. Gallus and his friends get trapped with Starlight and are nearly sucked into another realm with all of Equestria's magic, but they are saved by the Tree of Harmony, and they succeed in foiling Cozy Glow's plans.

In the holiday special "Best Gift Ever", Gallus and Sandbar appear with the rest of the Young Six at the beginning boarding the Friendship Express.

In "Uprooted", Gallus, Sandbar, and their friends are contacted by the Tree of Harmony in their dreams. When they return to the school, they learn from Twilight and Spike that the tree was destroyed by King Sombra. After getting permission from their kingdoms to return to Ponyville early, the Young Six each work on their own individual ways of honoring the tree's memory, with Gallus creating a museum, with a glorified story of the tree's origins and Sandbar trying to replace it with a little sapling. In the end, they agree to form a clubhouse out of the tree's remains. The tree, responding to their friendship, grows anew, forming an even bigger house that grows through the ruins of the Castle of the Two Sisters. After being thanked by the spirit of the tree, the six youngsters are joined by Twilight and Spike in exploring the new structure.

In "She's All Yak", Gallus and Sandbar, along with their friends, are present when Twilight announces the Amity Ball. Sandbar asks Yona to be his Pony Pal in the dance while Gallus a to Smolder's invitation (on the grounds of trying the food at the event). During the ball itself, he and the others tease Sandbar over Yona going "full pony" to impress him, and show disdain at her new look and demeanor. When Yona accidentally goes out of control while dancing, he and the others try to help her. Afterwards, he, his friends, and the rest of the school all dance the Yakyakistan Stomp with Yona.

in "The Last Crusade", Sandbar and Gallus appear in the crowd during CMC Appreciation Day. In "2, 4, 6, Greaaat", They appear on the bleachers during the buckball game with the rest of their friends. In "A Horse Shoe-In", Sandbar and Gallus appear during Dr. Hooves' science class and Trixie's history class respectively.

In "The Ending of the End - Part 1", Gallus, Sandbar, and the rest of the Young Six work together with Starlight Glimmer and Trixie to evacuate the School of Friendship while Cozy Glow, Queen Chrysalis, and Lord Tirek are on the loose. In Part 2, Gallus rallies the Griffons of Griffonstone to help the ponies in their final battle against the villains and Sandbar rallies the Earth ponies of Ponyville to help their fellow pony races. They later help the Mane Six and Pillars of Old Equestria defeat them.

In "The Last Problem", Sandbar and Gallus attend Twilight Sparkle's coronation ceremony. They later appear as an older stallion in future Ponyville and a future captain of the Canterlot royal guard respectively and each appears in Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle's group shots during "The Magic of Friendship Grows".

Fanon

Gallbar is not only the first ship to form within the group of the Young Six but also the most popular ship involving both characters. One of the reasons the ship is so popular is likely due to how well their different personalities balance each other out. Supporters of the pairing believe that Sandbar, given his laid-back personality, can stop Gallus from getting himself in trouble with his sarcastic comments and short temper, and Gallus, being the more down-to-earth of the two, can put Sandbar on the right track when he's over his head and not thinking things through well enough. Many people also interpret Gallus' trait as a playful teaser who pokes fun at his friends as a way for the Griffon to hide his deeper feelings for the earth pony, whom they believe Gallus would josh with the most, given Sandbar's easy-going nature. Additionally, the two are often seen as representation to the concept of same-sex and even interracial relationships, thus showing that there can be an interest between differing nationalities (in the show's case, different species) in a romantic way.

Gallbar is a quite well-received pairing, though there is often competition between this pairing, Yonabar, and Gallustream. Even so, it is fairly popular in terms of artwork and fanfiction.
