Gattwo is the non-binary ship between Gaty and Two from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Gaty is unable to hear what Two is saying while on the roof of the hotel. When Two announces that her team is safe from the challenge, Gaty sighs in relief. She is later among the many contestants yelling at Two for not hearing the extra rule.
Gaty questions Two on how long the season's voting system has been in place. Two explains since last episode and is midly annoyed for being interrupted. Gaty apologizes and Two lightheartedly tells her not to worry. She reminds Two to announce the next person safe for Cake at Stake. After the ceremony, Gaty explains to Two how the intro is their last piece of free-time before the contest starts. When Two begins the contest, everyone except Gaty runs to their respective teams' stacks. She questions why Two set the timer to 25 minutes rather than the standard 30. As Two answers that they do indeed find it weird, they sit down to chat and Gaty provides her theories as to why. When Pin walks over to Two regarding the challenge, she finds that Gaty and Two have brought a couch from the hotel as they continue to talk. Gaty explains how Two is different from the numbers that aren't alive. Two finds it inconvenient that they and the non-sentient symbols are both referred to as numbers, comparing it to if they were called "girls". As the challenge progresses, their conversation has shifted into Two trying to find their identity. Two says they like being green and a number and as Gaty states she likes being periwinkle and a girl, she runs into trouble understanding Two's point. Two explains that almost everything they are is something that others have told them to be. Two vents about the frustration they have with math as they don't get anything out of it. Gaty understands their view as she compares it to her being able to decide herself being periwinkle and a girl. Two wants to know how they can find more self-found abilities like Gaty's and suddenly remembers that they willingly chose to be the host for the competition. Now noticing Pin's presence, Two is startled that she was beside them and Gaty. As Pin and Gaty explain how they find it unfair that her team is using glue to keep their block stack together, Two is confused on both the fact that glue is not as harmful to objects as it is to numbers, but also how they're yelling against their own team. Gaty realizes this and decides to stop but wants to help Pin on approaching it with her team. She bids farewell to Two as they happily wave back.
As Two is about to review Team8s' restaurant, Gaty tells them they're sure to enjoy the restaurant they created. Two compliments her passion and pats her, slightly pained by the point of her spike. Gaty is startled when Two later announces that they're one of the two teams to be up for elimination.
Gaty calls Two's burritoes impressive as they describe their personalities. She smiles as Two hands her a burrito for surviving the Cake at Stake ceremony.
For the meal challenge, Gaty shares with her team that she knows Two very well and interprets the challenge as turning Two into dinner. She thinks of putting Two in a soup and the rest of the team follows through with the idea. During a montage, Gaty tries to get Four to capture Two by zapping them, only for Two to unknowingly knock Four away in the process. When it's time for Two to review each team's meal, Team8s trap Two between two pieces of bread. Gaty chuckles and calls them a Two sandwich, causing Two to burst into laughter and give their team a high score.
To fix the balance beam for the challenge, Donut turns to Gaty because of her expertise in Two. When Two later comes to review their repairment, they state how the beam is skewed. Gaty argues that it's a better balance beam as the angle provides more of a challenge. She puts Two on the beam to demonstrate, who enjoys the extra challenge as a result of the slope.
After a rough talk with Winner, Two and Gaty sit together on a couch outside as they express to Gaty their confusion on Winner's anger. Two states how they wanted to help Clock out by talking to Winner about it. Gaty compares the situation to how she respects Book's ability to leave her alone when she initially asked her to. She brings up how distance helped Two with Four and suggests that they not get involved with them. Gaty tells Two not to rush their conclusion and that Clock and Winner will eventually resettle their differences. When Robot Flower lights Basketball on fire in front of them, Two screams and Gaty runs off out of fear.
Two gives Gaty a piece of wood for being safe at her team's Cake at Stake ceremony, asking if she or Donut would like to open the door for Anchor during a zombie apocalypse. Later during the outbreak when Gaty overhears that Two has been infected, she immediately runs toward their aid even when Pin pleads her to stay. She finds Two in their zombified form after Are You Okay runs into her and she chases after Two. Two leads her up a flight of stairs and slowly opens a door for her. As Gaty repeatedly asks if they're okay, they whisper to her insisting she goes through the door. Although she is nervous, she does so and finds the red couch they usually sit down on in the room. She hops on to it and finds their shadow rapidly moving, freaking her out. Gaty looks up to see Two blankly looking at her, causing her to ask if they're okay once more. Two slides towards her and before she can get them to stop, Two makes her vanish by clapping and then teleports away afterwards. Gaty later learns that Two sent her, as well as Golf Ball and Tennis Ball, to where the eliminated contestants go and finds it cool that they did so instead of killing them. Later when Two is reverted to normal and huddles the contestants who survived the zombie apocalypse together, Gaty talks to Pin about the good qualities they saw their in their friends while as zombies. Gaty points out how Two could have killed everyone in their zombified form but didn't, stating that it's nice to hold onto the fact.
When Gaty is eliminated, Two doesn't send her to the place they sent the other eliminated contestants, but rather to the kitchen at the hotel so they can continue their chats with her. In the next episode, One kidnaps Gaty and doesn't send her back once Gaty agrees to the deal. Due to the events of the episode, Two rushes to the kitchen to see if she is alright, only to be horrified to see that she isn't there, thinking that she got erased from existence as one of the "few changes" mentioned by Fanny.
Fanon[]
Gaty and Two as a pairing has been praised in the Battle for Dream Island fandom. Many fans were initially surprised but found it cute that Two was able to have a close bond with one of their contestants. The scenes of Gaty acting as a therapist towards Two in the second episode of the season first sparked interest in the duo. Further excitement ensued when this idea was resurrected for the eighth episode as Two immediately turned to Gaty to vent out their feelings as well as Gaty's concern for Two in the zombie infestation the episode afterwards. Their bond is commonly called queer platonic by fans and is shipped as such. Some of the fandom regards ships between hosts and contestants as having an uneven power dynamic, but Gaty and Two are a common exception. With each episode focusing on their relationship, romantic support for the pairing increases throughout.
On AO3, there are 25 works under their platonic tag and 13 under their romantic tag. It is the second most written ship for both Gaty and Two, behind Sawty for Gaty and 24 for Two.
