GenMuiTan is the poly ship between Genya Shinazugawa, Muichiro Tokito, and Tanjiro Kamado from the Demon Slayer fandom.

Canon[]

Genya, Muichiro, and Tanjiro met one another at very different arcs during the series. Genya met Tanjiro during the Final Selection Arc, Muichiro met Tanjiro during the Hashira Introduction Arc/Rehabilitation Training Arc, and Muichiro likely met Genya during Swordsmith Village Arc. Muichiro and Genya had the most interactions during Infinity Castle Arc, while Tanjiro was accompanying Giyu Tomioka. Tanjiro didn't hear from either of them until he got the news of their death.

Genya and Tanjiro[]

Genya's first encounter with Tanjiro occurred during the Final Selection Arc, where Genya threatened and pulled Kanata Ubuyashiki, one of Kagaya Ubuyashiki's daughters' hair. Tanjiro intervened and threatened to break Genya's arm and Genya dares him to proceed with his threat. Later, Tanjiro and Genya meet each other again in the Butterfly Mansion, where Genya deliberately bumps into Tanjiro. Tanjiro recognizes him as the boy from Final Selection, noticing his enhanced physique and the smell of that of a demon. Genya walks past Tanjiro, completely ignoring his greeting.

Genya and Tanjiro refamiliarize during Swordsmith Village Arc, where Tanjiro finds Genya in the hot springs. Tanjiro accidentally catches Genya's tooth, while Genya continues to wrench out one of his teeth. Tanjiro remembers Genya to which Genya yells at him and orders him to drop dead. To Genya's dismay, Tanjiro happily joins Genya in the hot springs, asking how he's been. Tanjiro hopes that him and Genya could potentially become friends since they were naked in the hot springs together.

Because Genya refused to attend meals, Tanjiro brought leftovers to Genya's room, but Genya wasn't there.

Muichiro and Tanjiro[]

Muichiro and Tanjiro first met during Hashira Introduction Arc, when Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Giyu Tomioka were on trial because of Tanjiro's actions. Unlike the rest of the Hashira, Muichiro did not pick a side and didn't care whether Tanjiro lived or not. Later, when Kagaya Ubuyashiki appeared, Tanjiro interjected while he was speaking, prompting Muichiro to throw stones at his head. Muichiro then cautioned Tanjiro and told him to never interrupt when their master is speaking.

Muichiro and Tanjiro are reunited during Swordsmith Village Arc. During their encounter, Tanjiro spotted Muichiro berating Kotetsu, a young swordsmith. Tanjiro, watching from behind a tree, witnesses Muichiro knocking the boy unconscious. Tanjiro attempts to pull Muichiro away from Kotetsu. Muichiro, now annoyed, elbows Tanjiro in the stomach, rendering him weak, and questions how he even entered the Demon Slayer Corps. Muichiro detects that a demon was inside the box Tanjiro was carrying, and Tanjiro swats Muichiro's hand away, demanding that should not touch it. Muichiro continues to demand for a key, and Tanjiro steps in to defend the smith. Tanjiro, frustrated, claims that he cannot stand Muichiro's entitled demeanor, and defends Kotetsu's position as a swordsmith. Tanjiro explains how a swordsman cannot exist without a swordsmith and vice versa. Muichiro cuts him off, claiming that he has “no time to listen to a boring speech” before chopping Tanjiro in the neck and leaving him unconscious. Later, Tanjiro eventually awakens and asks if Haganezuka is around, the smith answers no. Tanjiro then asks for Muichiro's whereabouts, and the smith claims that he gave him the key to fend him away. Kotetsu thanks Tanjiro for defending him. Kotetsu then explains more about Yoriichi Type Zero until they hear a crash. Muichiro had activated it. Tanjiro and Kotetsu watch as Muichiro battles against the training doll. Tanjiro asks a few questions about the doll and Kotetsu answers them. They continue to watch Muichiro, and Tanjiro is amazed at how skilled he is despite his youthful age. Muichiro's crow, Ginko, comments about the fact that Muichiro is the descendent of someone who used Sun Breathing. Tanjiro notes that Muichiro doesn't use Sun Breathing, and Ginko bites him for “insulting” her owner.

Fanon[]

Not many people ship Genya, Muichiro, and Tanjiro all at the same time; rather, people tend to ship either Genya and Muichiro, Genya and Tanjiro, or Muichiro and Tanjiro. GenMuiTan seems to have a relatively small fanbase, with the pairing having only 10 works on AO3 as of now. The reason behind the ship varies, some people ship the three because they enjoy all three pairings mentioned before: GenMui, GenTan, and MuiTan, so they decide to combine the three, making it a polyamorous pairing. Some also ship the three because of Genya and Muichiro's close relationship and with Tanjiro, which was present during Hashira Training Arc where Muichiro prioritized Tanjiro over the other trainees. Genya and Tanjiro's closeness was also shown during Hashira Training Arc, where Tanjiro not only defended Genya against his older brother, but Genya also encouraged Tanjiro when he was attempting Gyomei Himejima's training and ate alongside him afterwards. The fact that Genya and Muichiro bonded a bit during Infinity Castle Arc is also the reason people ship Genya and Muichiro, and Muichiro and Genya's relationship with Tanjiro likely caused people to ship all three of them together.
