Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)[]

On October 28th, 2022, Task Force 141 operatives Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley and Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish are teamed up to locate Major Hassan Zyani, a known terrorist. The mission to locate him is a failure; however they accidently discover one of three hidden American missiles in an unmarked warehouse. Sometime later, Station Chief Kate Laswell, one of the commanders of Task Force 141, dispatches Colonel Alejandro Vargas and Sergeant Major Rodolfo Parra to prevent Hassan from being smuggled over the United States/Mexico border wall by members of the Las Almas Cartel. Alejandro and Rodolfo are members of the elite Mexican Special Forces, Los Vaqueros (The Cowboys, in English), which is led by Alejandro, with Rodolfo serving as his second-in-command. Their mission is also a failure to apprehending Hassan.

On October 30th, 2022, Ghost and Soap arrive in Las Almas, Mexico to team up with Alejandro and Rodolfo in their continued search for Hassan. As they’re loading off the plane, Alejandro amusingly questions why Ghost is called “Ghost,” leading to Soap saying he believes Ghost prefers to be called something else, however that ‘something else’ is cut off as Ghost loudly interjects himself in, stopping Soap from continuing. Formalities over, the four drive into the city of Las Almas. In the jeep, Rodolfo quietly mutters in Spanish to Alejandro that he’s “afraid of ghosts”. Alejandro asks Ghost and Soap if they know Spanish, leading to Soap answering no. Alejandro flashes a small smile, telling him they will. Throughout the drive, Ghost and Soap are given a culture shock as they past members of the Las Almas Cartel, open carrying assault rifles and corpses lying in the streets. Soap quickly tells them this while grabbing his own rifle. Alejandro tells him to relax as that’s “normal here”. The four talk of the cartel and Rodolfo mentions how Ghost will fit in well due to his skull mask. Ghost doesn’t say anything, though Alejandro tells Rodolfo to take it easy, while Soap makes a silent gesture with his hand to stop.

Another mission to apprehend Hassan is underway. They fight their way through building to building being used as hideouts, where they discover they missed him again. They’re soon attacked by corrupt units of the Mexican Army and are forced to escape from the hideout. As they’re engaging the army, Rodolfo is separated from them. Moving throughout the mountains, Alejandro makes numerous attempts to get in contact with him. The men are saved by Commander Phillip Graves and his Shadow Company, allied and acquainted with Ghost already. Back in communications with Rodolfo, Alejandro radios him for an exfil. With Graves’ assistances, the team locates Hassan and Rodolfo takes them to a secure location for interrogation. He is interrogated, however killing him would be an act of war, forcing them to let him go after they hack his phone.

On November 2nd, 2022, Rodolfo remains back while Alejandro, Ghost, Soap and Graves leave to disarm one of the three missing American missiles in the Gulf of Mexico. Mission success, on the way back to Los Vaqueros’ base, Graves betrays the team by claiming ownership over the base, as he “admires it”. Alejandro fights him, though is overpowered by Graves and his Shadow Company. He is taken as a prisoner along with the rest of Los Vaqueros, while Ghost and Soap avoid capture by escaping into the night. Rodolfo also avoids capture and flees to Alejandro’s safehouse.

Later into the night, Ghost and Soap arrive to the safehouse. They climb through an exposed window where Soap is met by a sniper laser. Ghost spots it first, telling Soap not to move as he throws a knife in the direction of the laser. Rodolfo shouts who’s there, suddenly easing the tension, recognizing them as an ally. He questions where they were, with Ghost responding “on the run”. Soap clarifies he was the one on the run, though Ghost waited for him. Rodolfo accepts this, as of course Ghost would wait for him. Soap then claims “no,” just as Ghost says “yes”. Ghost explains how they’re a team – all of them, further saying how this happened on his watch, how he’ll need help to fix it and how no one fights alone.

In the wake of Graves’ betrayal, everyone outside that room is considered a hostile, with the exception of Alejandro who is being held in a disused prison that’s been taken over by Shadow Company. Rodolfo had already worked out where he is being kept. Soap wonders how they’re going to get him and the rest of Los Vaqueros, with Ghost simply stating they’re going to break into the prison. A plan is devised to break in and the three men arrive to the prison. Soap hopes Alejandro is still alive, with Rodolfo telling him to “count on it.” Inside, after Ghost and Soap complete their task of planting charges in key areas, Rodolfo locates Alejandro. They arrive to the cell where he’s being held and free him, to which Rodolfo gives him a gun. The team battles their way out the way they came in, with assistance from fellow Task Force 141 operatives Captain John Price and Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick. It is revealed that Ghost and Soap’s superior, General Shepard, and Graves having worked together to cover up the three American missiles going missing. Escaping the prison and headed back to the safehouse, the team has a meeting about what they’re going to do next: retaking Los Vaqueros’ base and killing Graves – becoming Ghost Team.

Ghost Team splits into two teams – with Alejandro on Team-1, and Ghost, Soap and Rodolfo on Team-2. Soap and Rodolfo and are successful in killing Graves, with Ghost having remained back when Price and one of Alejandro’s men were hit and needed help. Alejandro and Gaz go to secure El Sin Nombre (The Nameless, in English), leader of the Las Almas Cartel, otherwise known as Valeria Garza, who had been taken as a prisoner days prior as she was helping Hassan smuggle the American missiles. With their base reclaimed and Valeria in custody, Alejandro and Rodolfo say goodbye to Ghost and Soap as they board a plane to leave Mexico to thwart Hassan and the third and final missile in Chicago, United States.
