Tropes	"Eureka!" Moment - During the honeycomb game, Gi-hun discovers from his sweat and some light that the umbrella shape has a thin outline around it inside the honeycomb. He soon realizes that he can lick the backside of the honeycomb to get the shape out carefully and more easily, which he does in the last few seconds of the game. Other players notice this and start licking their shapes as well.

Canon

Season 1

During Dalgona when players have to choose their shapes, Gi-hun chooses the umbrella. He states his reason, being that his mother was always angry for losing his and was given only broken ones. He always wished he got a normal umbrella like the other kids. After players got their jars with the candy and the announcement voices that the game is Dalgona, Gi-hun realises that his choice might've not been a good one and might even cost him his life. While the game was going, Gi-hun was trying all possible methods on how to get the umbrella shape out of the cookie, whether it be using the needle or picking out pieces out of it.

After plenty of players have been eliminated and 3 minutes on the clock, Gi-hun's still cutting out his shape with the needle until some sweat drops on it. He brings the cookie up against the light and a realisation hits him. He then gives it a few licks to see whether it will be faster that way. It works, and as he realises he can lick the shape from the back, he starts doing just that. Other players see what he's doing with confusion on their faces and start copying his unusual tactic. He successfully survives the game right on the last second.

Season 2

After the voting took place, players came up to Gi-hun to ask what the next game is going to be. Gi-hun tells them that during his time they played Dalgona. Jung-bae asks what were the easiest and hardest shapes to pick, to which Gi-hun replies triangle and umbrella, respectively. In-ho, being one of the players to come up to him, makes a remark about the players who chose the hardest shape, saying they would have a hard time with it. Gi-hun has flashbacks to his reaction about his choice of shape and to when he was licking it.

Gi-hun licking the umbrella cookie surely made some fans question their interest in men. The infamous scene is also quite popularly used in Gi-hun edits on TikTok and is occasionally paired up with Front Man x Whiskey.

It’s often mentioned/joked about, not because of the cookie itself, but more so to do with certain “assets” that caught both the attention of the camera-angle and fans. The cookie is often just used as a quick catch-all term to address the “stuff” people are really referring to. The cookie is also often used in 457, Gihun's Harem, and Red Flag Magnet fancontent.

The ship itself is usually perceived as ether funny, spicy, or commonly both.
