Gingersnaps is the femslash ship between Nora Valkyrie and Penny Polendina from the RWBY fandom.
Canon[]
In volume 7 chapter 1, Nora was surprised to see that Penny was still alive in Mantle, but happy nonetheless. In the next episode, Nora and everyone else, are guided by Penny through Atlas academy to their dorm. Penny then also takes the time to show them around the academy too. In chapter 4, Nora joins in with Penny and Yang and they all start laughing together. In chapter 6 in the aftermath of Tyrian interfering with Robyn's election, Nora immediately rushes to the stage to see if Penny' alright. She then encourages Penny to go backstage with her, Penny has a shocked look on her face.
In volume 8 chapter 3, Nora was shown to be so willing to save Penny that she ends up overuses her Semblance to break down a door to save Penny from the Ace-Ops. Penny being so shocked that Nora did that for her ran over and knelt beside her to see if she was alright. She then tried to grab Nora's hammer but was unable to as it electroshocked her. She is then later seen running with the others with an injured, unconscious Nora in her arms. Penny then lays Nora down on the floor of the airplane when the group escapes Ironwood.
In chapter 8 Nora is the one to reach out and grab Penny's hand as she is being hacked by Watts. Penny tells her that she's scared and that a part of her is trying to force her to do something she doesn't want to do. Nora then tells her it's just a "part" of her, and to not forget about the rest of herself. This enables Penny to temporarily overcome the hack and she calms down as a result. In chapter 9 Nora helped Ruby to stop Penny from going to the Atlas vault. She then repeats to Penny the same advice that she said to her in chapter 7, this helps Penny regain control of herself. After Jaune used his semblance on Penny to help calm her down, Nora then rushes to hug Penny, to which Penny reciprocates the hug. When Ruby then tells Penny that she has a soul, Nora is then seen holding Penny's hand alongside Ruby.

Gingersnaps is a rarepair within the RWBY fandom. This is mostly because the two didn't interact at all in the first 3 volumes of RWBY. They also didn't interact at all in volume 7 of RWBY, and ReNora and Nuts and Dolts are much more popular pairings for the two. This ship grew in popularity in volume 8 after the two had a few cute moments together. It has a small fanbase on Tumblr and 9 words on Ao3. Gingersnaps fans were then very sad with Penny's death at the end of volume 8.

Trivia[]
- "Gingersnaps" comes from the fact that both Penny and Nora are gingers.
- Their other ship name 'Beep Boop" comes from the stereo-typical sound robots make (on account of Penny being an android" and "Boop" Nora's theme song and the thing she does to express her love for someone
- Short Circuit comes from the fact that Penny can short circuit (due to being a robot" and a circuit is something used to describe electricity (which is a common theme with Nora's semblance and allusion)
