GoYuu is the slash ship between Satoru Gojo and Yuji Itadori from the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom.
Canon[]
Introduction Arc[]
Jujutsu Kaisen begins with Itadori waking up after being unconscious, tied to a chair, and his first sight being Gojo. Gojo gives a short introduction about himself, then tells Itadori that it has been decided that he will be secretly executed. We receive a backstory of what had happened before Yuji woke up.
After Itadori has switched to Sukuna for the first time at the beginning of episode two, Gojo arrives, asking Megumi if he had found the finger. Itadori replies with "Sorry, but I ate it". Gojo is surprised, asking "For real?", and Megumi confirms. Gojo walks up to Itadori, coming very close to his face, taking a good look at him and giggling, which makes Itadori blush a little. During this scene, Itadori is quite confused, and is flinching back, with Gojo coming closer. He asks Itadori a few questions about Sukuna, then tells Itadori to swap into Sukuna for a short fight.
After fighting a bit, Itadori switches back, asking if everything went well. Gojo, sounding surprised, says “I’m shocked! You really can control him!”. Gojo walks up to him, pokes his forehead, and knocks him out. At the same time, he grabs him, and thinks “He’s heavy”. We then switch to the present time, with Gojo telling Yuji again that he will be executed, but Gojo has suspended this. Gojo begins to tell Yuji more about Sukuna and Yuji’s execution. He tells Yuji to decide whether he’d like to die right now, or die after he has absorbed all 20 of Sukuna’s fingers.
After Yuji has visited his friends at the hospital, we see him and Gojo sitting outside, talking about Yuji’s grandfather. Yuji says his grandfather was like a father to him, and Gojo apologizes for everything happening at a time like that. Gojo asks Yuji if he has decided what he wants to do, and warns him about how things will be like if he decides to take on this role. He warns Yuji about the gruesome scenes he may witness as Sukuna’s vessel, and tells him to “choose his hell”. After Yuji finds out that by eating Sukuna’s fingers, less people will be harmed, he asks Gojo for the next finger. While Itadori is eating the finger, Gojo stays prepared for any circumstances, but is very glad to see that Yuji was able to take it well. Yuji tells Gojo that he’s ready to eat all of the fingers, and has decided how he will die. Gojo looks at him with a huge grin, and replies with, “Nice! I like people like you.” Gojo tells Yuji to be prepared and to pack his things since they are leaving for Tokyo. While Gojo and Yuji are on their way to the school, Gojo gives him a brief introduction on it. Yuji later asks Gojo if he is stronger than Sukuna and if he’d win in a fight, and Gojo tells him that it’d be a bit draining, but he’d win.
After Yuji’s interview with Principal Yaga, Gojo explains the security and takes Yuji to his dorm. While they’re there, Gojo tells Yuji that he could just stay here and they could bring fingers for him, but Yuji says it would be “a funny sight”. Yuji realizes that Gojo was testing him, and Gojo comes close to his face, making Yuji blush, and tells him that it isn’t that easy to collect the fingers.
In episode 3, while Gojo, Megumi, and Itadori were waiting for Nobara to arrive, Yuji asks why his uniform was a little different than Megumi’s, and Gojo tells him that he had put the custom order for Yuji. Once Nobara had joined them, Gojo tells them that they’re leaving for Tokyo, which gets Yuji and Nobara very excited. Once they get to their location, Yuji and Nobara get mad at Gojo since he toyed with them. Since Yuji wasn’t very experienced and didn’t know how to use jujutsu, Gojo explains it a little to him and then gives him a cursed tool.
In episode 5, after Yuji’s death, we notice Gojo is very upset, and starts to slightly blame himself. He mentions the higher ups being unhappy with his decision of suspending Yuji’s execution, and that he feels they took advantage of Gojo’s absence and the special-grade curse to dispose of Yuji. Ijichi tries to make Gojo feel better, telling him that nobody expected any of this. Gojo says that he wants to just kill all of the higher ups instead. At this moment, Shoko walks in, saying that Gojo isn’t normally this emotional. She also says that it looks like Gojo has taken quite a liking to Yuji. Gojo lifts his finger, saying that he’s always been a nice guy who takes care of his students. After taking a look at Yuji, Shoko asks if she can take him apart, and Gojo adds that she must make good use of him, while still looking down. While talking with Ijichi, Gojo explains that his students are very talented, especially Hakari and Okkotsu. Then, he looks down while forming a fist with his hand, and thinks to himself “Yuji was one of those, as well.”. Then, Yuji wakes up, completely naked. While Ijichi is shocked, Gojo begins to laugh. Gojo walks up to Yuji, and says “Welcome back”, with a huge grin on his face. Yuji replies, also with a huge smile, “Yeah. Great to be back!”. The two of them high five while Yuji is still completely naked. Later, Gojo tells Shoko that he’d like to keep Yuji dead on the record so that he can help Yuji get stronger until the exchange event.
Cursed Training Arc[]
Gojo takes Yuji to a separate room, and begins to explain a little bit about cursed energy, but pauses since Yuji was smiling a lot. He asks him why, and Yuji says that he’s really happy since he figured Gojo would be the best one to train him. He asks Gojo to teach him how to become the strongest, and Gojo smiles, telling him that he’s got a keen eye. Gojo begins to set up movies for Yuji to watch, and recommends a specific movie, and continues to spoil the ending. He continues to stay with Yuji for a bit, asks a question about Sukuna, then leaves. In Episode 7, while Gojo is fighting Jogo, he brings Yuji to watch. Gojo laughs at Jogo, calling him weak and getting him angry, which makes Yuji wonder, since Jogo didn’t look weak at all. Yuji looked worried, so Gojo put his hand on Yuji’s head, assuring Yuji he’ll be fine, as long as he stays close to him.
V.S. Mahito Arc[]
In the Jujutsu Stroll of episode 13, Gojo and Yuji are eating dinner together. Gojo compliments Yuji’s meatballs, and Yuji explains how easy they are to make.
Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc[]
In episode 14, once Yuji returns for the sister school exchange event, Gojo begins to tell him about their way to surprise the other students, and show that Yuji is still alive. Yuji gets very excited, coming close up to Gojo, asking what they should do. Gojo replies, also very excited, telling him to just go with the flow. At the end of Episode 14, Gojo and Yuji walk together, talking about the meaning of “OPP”.
Fanon[]
GoYuu is a very popular ship within the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom, but is negatively received by most of the Western fandom, as they prefer SatoSugu and ItaFushi over GoYuu due to their large age gap. Still, the ship is very popular in the Japanese fandom.
Similar to GoFushi, most of the Western fandom sees this as a friendship and as a father/son or mentor/student bond. Fanart depicts them as very playful (usually teasing Megumi) or just doing some hilarious acts together because of how much of the comedy from the first season of the anime stemmed from their bond.
