Gokumota is the slash ship between Gonta Gokuhara and Kaito Momota from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Gonta and Kaito were both participants in the Killing School Semester. While they didn't have very many interactions, they have many similarities to one another. Both are seen as optimistic and encouraging of their friends and classmates, and yet both are also considered to be "idiots" by the same classmates. Gonta seems to take this name-calling much better than Kaito does.
In Chapter 1, Kaito asks Gonta to join his strategy meeting to help fight Monokuma. Gonta ended up locking himself in the AV room to watch a bug movie to fill himself with "fight". After Rantaro's death, Kaito took to questioning Gonta's motives. However, Gonta was cleared of any wrongdoing. When Kaede as revealed as the killer and is set to be executed, Kaito and Gonta both tried to protect her, alongside Tenko Chabashira. In Chapter 2, Kaito manages to avoid Gonta's Insect Meet and Greet. The pair interact again in the Chapter 2 trial when Gonta reminds Kaito that it's "okay to be an idiot".
Their final significant interaction comes during the Chapter 4 trial. Kaito is quick to defend Gonta when suspicion falls onto him for Miu's murder. Even as Shuichi continues to present evidence of Gonta's guilt, Kaito refuses to believe it. When the full truth finally comes to light, he pins the blame fully on Kokichi for manipulating Gonta. Kaito even goes so far as to vote for Kokichi as the blackened, rather than vote for Gonta. When Kokichi refuses to explain the truth of the outside world, even following Gonta's execution, Kaito declares that Gonta died a meaningless death.
The two interact very briefly in the non-canonical Ultimate Talent Development Plan. They meet at the sports festival, during a game of basketball. Kaito encourages Gonta to play more aggressively. Gonta agrees, saying that this is his first time playing basketball but that he'll try his best. Kaito praises Gonta's spirit and enthusiasm. The two do not share any scenes together in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.
Fanon[]
The ship likely sailed as a result of both Gonta and Kaito being seen as "idiots" by the rest of their classmates. They also both play similar roles as partners to Kokichi, with Kaito taking over after Gonta's execution in Chapter 4. Gonta also seems to hold an interest in the night sky, as he comments on the constellations at the end of Chapter 2. This means the pair would have a lot in common with one another. Both characters are also incredibly optimistic, almost to a fault.
Gokumota is considered to be a rarepair, with over 40 works on AO3. It is often overshadowed by other ships, such as Kaimaki and Saimota for Kaito, and Goshi and Gontaguuji for Gonta.
