Gonten is the het ship between Gonta Gokuhara and Tenko Chabashira from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Tenko and Gonta don't interact much in game, but it's shown that Tenko does have some respect for Gonta despite him being a male. But as they don't interact much, it is considered a "rare-pair."
In Chapter 1, Tenko offers to be the girls protector. Gonta shortly after offers to be the boys protector. In Chapter 2, during the Insect Meet And Greet, Tenko compares herself to Gonta, saying her Neo-Aikido will be no match for him. After the Chapter 2 Trial, Gonta is seen crying, and Tenko asks why a male is crying in public. Despite her asking, she's seen crying as well. After Tenko's death in Chapter 3, Gonta is seen crying, wishing he could have protected her. In the Chapter 3 trial, Kokichi calls Tenko's death meaningless because of it not coming first. Gonta can be seen defending her with Himiko, saying her death was not meaningless.
The two are the "strong ones" in the game. Since they mostly do the things that require lots of strength. Both of them are "greenish", both of their hair colors look dark-green. The two also aren't shown to wear proper shoes, Gonta is bare foot and Tenko wears sandals with socks, the things they wear for foot-wear are considered as strange, as it's rare to see such things. Both of their hair-lengths are pretty long and look well-brushed. The two also died, expect Gonta was the blackened while Tenko was a victim. The two are also shown to be on good terms with Shuichi Saihara.
Tenko is shown to treat Gonta normally and respect him, even though he is a male.
Fanon[]
Gonten is a rare-pair in the Danganronpa fandom, it is perceived as "underrated". It doesn't have a high number of supporters as Tenko is shown to despise males. This could also be for how Tenko is mostly headcanoned as "lesbian" so which might might this ship a bit disliked as it is a male x Tenko ship. The ship is easily overshadowed by the two's popular ships, Tenmiko and Ougoku. As the ship is rare the pairs popular ships easily overshadow it.
Though for the people who ship this often may think Gonta's light hearted and gentle attitude could help ease Tenko's hate for men. As Tenko is shown to respect Gonta and treat him fairly. Tenkaito a popular male x Tenko ship, is usually shipped with Gonten. As the three of them are described as "strong". The two only have two fanworks made for them in Archive Of Our Own, meaning that the ship doesn't get lots of support from the Danganronpa fandom. The two also don't have lots of fanart or any type fanwork made for them.
As this ship is rare, not much is known about the fandoms opinion. It is commonly viewed as "less-known". As for Tenko's canon crush, the ship is overshadowed by that. So because of this, AUS could be created where Gonta changes Tenko's way of seeing men. Fans of the pair often describe it as "cute".
