Grangus is the slash ship between Gregg Lee and Angus Delaney from the Night In The Woods fandom.
Canon[]
Gregg and Angus have been dating for some time before Mae went to college, which means at least 2 years.
Part One: Home Again[]
As Mae returns home and visits Gregg at the Snack Falcon, she asks if he and Angus are “still a thing”, which prompts Gregg to smile and run off-screen to change the background music to romantic guitar music. After band practice, Gregg and Angus go out eating with Mae and Bea at the Clik Clak Diner, with Gregg leaning against Angus while eating pizza. As the find a severed arm on the road, Angus quickly says that he and Gregg better get home.
The next day, Mae tells her mom that she is going to meet Angus to fix her computer, she replies “your friend Gregg’s boyfriend?”. After meeting up with Gregg at the Snack Falcon, since she couldn’t find Angus at his usual work place (Video Outpost “Too”), Mae finds out that Gregg and Angus only live two doors away from the severed arm they found the day before. On the day of the party, Mae meets up with Angus and tells him that she never saw him as a party person. He responds by asking her if she knows the feeling of just wanting to stand in a corner sometimes and then saying: “Gregg’s my corner”. Mae coos over it, but Angus tells her to shut up.
At the party, Gregg and Angus stand together and talk things out with Mae. When Mae gets fully drunk, Angus refers to Gregg as “Bug”, which Mae coos over, having almost forgotten that Angus calls him that.
Part Two: Weird Autumn[]
If Mae shows up at the Ol’ Pickaxe, Mae wonders why the band is even still a thing and Bea says that it was a favor for Angus, who was trying to keep the band afloat because Gregg was very sad after Casey’s disappearance. At band practice, Angus tells Mae that Gregg is usually the one calling the shots about the band. Should Mae choose to hang out with Gregg, he would reveal that he’s been planning on moving to a better city called Bright Harbor for about a year and he willingly gave up crimes for Angus’s sake.
The next day, Gregg tells Mae that he’s lonely since Angus is still out of town. Should Mae visit Gregg in the Snack Falcon, he says that he talked about his fear of prison gangs with Angus, who responded with “Prison Gangs are notoriously problematic”. Mae asks if Angus is around, but Gregg declines, telling her that he’s doing “Family stuff”. After their second hangout (which involves stealing a car battery for a stolen animatronic and Mae getting electrocuted), Mae tells Gregg that she’s happy that he and Angus could build a life together. After Mae gets electrocuted a second time on their hangout, Angus surprisingly returns home to see Mae laying off her shock and Gregg partying over seeing their animatronic “son” “live”. He doesn’t seem to mind any of that, being mildly surprised at worst. When Mae checks her chats that evening, Gregg tells Mae that Angus loves their “son” and says thank you for him.
On Gregg’s third hang out, he will tell Mae that his family left him with insecurities, which started seeping into his relationship with Angus, letting him believe that he isn’t good enough for Angus. Mae reassures him, telling him that he is. Gregg breaks the tension by talking about how great Angus’ ass is and Mae agrees.
After the Harfest play, Gregg says that he’ll be spending the evening watching scary movies with Angus. He denies Mae’s request to come, saying it’s more of a “Date” thing.
Part Three: The Long Fall[]
The next day, Gregg tells Mae via chat message that both he and Angus regret not inviting her over. After band practice, Angus complains that all the growling will make him sound husky, which Gregg thinks is nice. When Mae tells her story about the “ghost” she saw after Harfest, Angus reassures her that she doesn’t have to figure it out by herself and Gregg agrees. They team up with Bea to try and track down paranormal sightings in hopes of catching the “ghost”.
Two days later, when Mae is given the option to have a regular hang out with Gregg again, they plan to go to Donut Wolf, with Gregg inviting Angus along, referring to him as “Cap’n”. After a long pause, Angus agrees to come along. Angus chauffeurs them there without saying a word, but notably loses his patience when they get a flat tire. After all three of them have left the car, Angus and Gregg have a fight about fixing the tire, with Gregg offering to fix it while Angus insists that it’s impossible. Angus is tired of having to be the responsible one in their relationship, while Gregg doesn’t appreciate Angus snapping at Mae for trying to get a word in. When Mae decides to talk to them after they’ve calmed down, asking them what they’re going to do now, Gregg suggests calling someone, only for Angus to snark at him that they don’t have signal. When Mae finds a spare tire, Angus harshly tells her that he doesn’t trust her with it, but being judged by Gregg for being harsh on her changed his mind and they finally get to go to Donut Wolf. Angus decides to eat there upon Gregg’s request. Gregg admits that the experience is fun after both Angus and Mae left out of earshot. After Gregg talks things out with Mae after she went on a rampage in the bathroom, he goes to sit with Angus. When Mae joins them, they chat for a bit before deciding to eat. While they eat, Angus admits that the animatronic son Gregg and Mae built in the living room smells, but both say that they built him because they thought Angus would like him. Angus retorts that Gregg only built it because it was fun for him and accuses him of not thinking of the consequences. When Mae tells him that he’s being rude, Angus snaps at Gregg for doing irresponsible things while they are planning a future together, but Gregg downplays his actions by saying that he wasn’t stealing since all the stuff he “stole” was abandoned. But then Mae had to puke from too many donuts and they had to go outside. There she asks the two of them if she's the reason why their relationship is failing, only for Gregg to reassure that she isn’t. Gregg then tells her a story of how he let the sheep out on his uncle’s farm, with only one surviving while the other ones were all run over by trucks. He then tells her the real reason why they want to leave town: They are the only gay people in Possum Springs. So Gregg pleads to have Mae allow him to change so that he and Angus can be happy together. While Mae accepts that Gregg will give up crime for good, she invites both him and Angus for one last crime: They leave their animatronic son in the woods to scare the kids.
When Mae has a bout which she pins on the “ghost” following her, her friends are forced to bring her to Gregg and Angus’s place for her to talk herself out. Mae suggests going to the woods to settle this thing, but her friends talk her out of it, saying it’s far too dangerous at this time of day. However, Angus surprises everyone by saying that he’ll go with her, saying that he believes in her even if he doesn’t believe in ghosts. Gregg smiles at him for that, and when everyone else agrees, they go together. If Mae went with Gregg to the Historical Society, Gregg will spend the hike out looking for owls. When Bea and Angus ask him why, Mae tells them that Gregg was attacked by an owl, to which Angus reassures him that he will never allow another owl to come near him.
They then discover a cult of cowled figures who are all dressed like Mae’s “ghost”, witnessing one of their members getting punished for leaving the arm in front of the diner, the punishment leaving his bone sticking out. This causes Mae to gasp, which reveals them to the cult, forcing them to run. A gunshot is heard and Mae drops unconscious.
Part Four: The End of Everything[]
If Mae hung out with Gregg more, Gregg becomes playable, he and Angus can have a one-on-one conversation while Mae recovers in the hospital. Angus talks about what he’s cooking, to which Gregg expresses surprise that he’s cooking three meals at once and tells him to rest. Angus replies by saying that he has to take care of Gregg in such a situation, but Gregg counters by saying that he shouldn’t put his own mental health on the line for him. Angus agrees and they exchange “Love You”s.
When Mae shows up later, Gregg suggests ordering a pizza. Bea wonders why, reminding them that they wanted to save money, but Angus tells her to not mingle with their lifestyle: Mae is more important than living in a fancy city.
After a near-death-experience in the cultist’s hideout, where Mae was almost abducted, Gregg tells Angus that he loves him, causing Mae to coo, confirming to everyone that she’s alright. After they escape, all four of them debate whether what they did was morally correct. While Mae hopes they’re still alive, Angus surprises Gregg by saying he would’ve killed them if he had the chance, saying he doesn’t even believe in hell and still hopes they all go there. In Mae’s speech in messenger, she tells Angus that he gives Gregg to him as a gift, tells him to remember to water and feed him and that she will kick his ass if he does anything to hurt him, reminding him that Gregg was “hers first”
Epilogue: Stars[]
At the end of the Gregg Route, Angus comes to band practice late and Gregg asks him how work was. Angus tells him that he got cramps to which Gregg suggests stretching.
At the end of the Bea Route, Bea confesses to Mae that she believes that Gregg and Angus will break up soon, believing that them being the only gay men in Possum Springs is the only reason why they're still together and they'll break up as soon as they move to the more accepting Bright Harbor.
Fanon[]
To call Gregg and Angus "beloved" would be the understatement of the century. Many a Night In The Woods fan has claimed that they would die for these two. One look at statistics will show: Gregg/Angus absolutely dominate the "Night In The Woods" tag on AO3, despite Mae being the main character and getting far more focus, with what we can see from their relationship being entirely from Mae's limited perspective. The LGBT fanbase adores them for setting a positive, prominent example of a healthy, yet flawed relationship between two men.
Many completely disagree with Bea's prediction at the end of the game, believing that their relationship is actually very stable and that Bea wasn't there to hear the reasons why they're so attached to each other. The fact that both were children of abusive households (Angus' far more actively to be fair) and found solace within each other is often said to be another reason why the ship is so good.
In humanization, Gregg has almost always the exact same haircut, resembling his fox ears. Occasionally, he's portrayed as Asian-American, due to his last name "Lee". Angus is either a literal "bear" (slang for a heavyset, bearded/hairy, gay man) or African-American, due to his brown fur.
