Grantler is the het ship between Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler from the Jurassic Park fandom.

Jurassic Park[]
Alan and Ellie, Jurassic Park (1993)
Alan and Ellie are both introduced in the first film in the Jurassic Park franchise. They are shown as partners, both in the professional field and in their romantic lives. John Hammond visits them at their dig site and invites them to visit his theme park, Jurassic Park. The pair accept, and journey to Isla Nublar together. It is established early on that Ellie wants to start a family and take their relationship to the next level, but Alan is wary about children. When they meet the young Lex and Tim at Jurassic Park, Ellie is quick to try and force them together with Alan to convince him that kids aren't so bad.
The pair end up riding in a vehicle with Dr. Ian Malcolm for their tour of Jurassic Park. Ian is shown getting close to Ellie, holding her hand as he explains chaos theory. Alan seems marginally annoyed by this. When Ellie says her famous line "woman inherits the Earth", Ian looks on with an expression of shock and surprise. Alan, however, can be seen smiling fondly at her in the background of the shot. When the tour group encounters a sick triceratops later on, Ellie decides to stay back with it. Alan, Ian, and the children continue on the rest of the tour without her.
Disaster strikes minutes later when the T-rex attacks the tour vehicles. Alan finds himself in the T-rex paddock with Lex and Tim after one of the vehicles is thrown over the ravine. Ellie arrives later in an attempt to stage a rescue mission, but is only able to recuse Ian. She calls desperately for Alan, but with no response. However she does spot footprints, which provides her with relief. Alan is likely still alive.
Alan and Ellie reunite the next day, after Ellie has rebooted power to the facilities. They work together to protect Lex and Tim from the velociraptors, including barring of the door to the control room together. The four escape through the air ducts of the room, and are able to run towards John and Ian's jeep while the velociraptors are distracted by the T-Rex. They all make it onto a helicopter and fly away from Jurassic Park. Alan and Ellie are last seen together on the helicopter, with Lex and Tim asleep on Alan's shoulders. Ellie smiles fondly at him, encouraged by the fact that he seemed to learn a lesson about fatherhood from the endeavor.
Jurassic Park III[]
After their absence in Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Alan and Ellie return in Jurassic Park III. Eight years on from the events at Isla Nublar, Ellie is now married a man named Mark Degler. They had two children together. Alan and Ellie are shown to still have a close relationship, with Alan coming over to visit and play dinosaurs with the children. Ellie's young son, Charlie, affectionately calls Alan the "Dinosaur Man".
When Alan finds himself trapped on Isla Sorna, he uses the satellite phone to call Ellie for help. This is after she reminds him at the beginning of the film that she'll always be there for him when he needs it. Ellie uses her husband's connections to send the Marines and the Navy to rescue Alan and the other survivors from Isla Sorna. Alan is heard saying "God bless you, Ellie" right before his escape from the island.

Fanon[]
Grantler is one of the most popular ships in the Jurassic Park fandom. Seeing as they are one of the only canon couples in the original three films in the series, fans in the 90s didn't have many other shipping options. Although Ellie ends up married to another man in Jurassic Park III, most fans were upset by this decision as they felt it didn't complete Alan's character arc and allow him to become a father. However, fans were glad to see them finally reconcile in Jurassic World Dominion.
Grantler is currently the second most popular ship in the Jurassic Park franchise on AO3, with over 600 works. It is the most popular ship in the Jurassic Park - Original Trilogy subtag.

Trivia[]
- Alan and Ellie are only in a romantic relationship in the film adaptation of Jurassic Park. In the novels Ellie is engaged to, and later marries, a physicist named Dr. Reiman.
