AvM Shorts: Season 1[]
Green first met Purple when he and Blue discovered a Nether Portal hidden in Alan's PC, after stepping through it, they discovered a mysterious new purple stick figure who quickly ran away from them through another Nether Portal. Curious about there being more stick figures they didn't know about, they decided to follow Purple and ended up in a Village hosted on a Macintosh. There, they asked the Villagers if they had seen a purple stick figure running through, to which one Villager gladly took them to audience with their king. Purple turns out to be ruling the Villagers, having ventured into the Nether to get rare Nether Quartz for them to build with. Upon reaching Purple, Green and Blue are very enthusiastic about meeting him, pointing out their similar appearances and that they also found plenty of Quartz during their own venture into the Nether. However, Purple perceives them as a threat as they trade their Quartz to the Villagers, ordering them to arrest the two intruders. They manage to easy escape jail, first by destroying the walls, then by bribing the Villager guarding the jail with gold blocks.
When Purple notices that his Villagers are running to a scene of Green and Blue mass trading the gold blocks, he panics and initially considers using his sword to fight Green and Blue. But he is stopped when the Villagers run past him, building a monument of Purple using the gold blocks they received from the intruders. Purple is satisfied with his underlings remaining loyal to him and decides to crown Green and Blue co-rulers. He then shows them a hidden passageway leading to an End Portal beneath his throne, with Green and Blue jumping after Purple after some hesitancy.
Ending up in the End dimension, Purple shows them the Dragon that he intends to slay, but also warns them to hide their eyes from the resident Endermen. Realizing that trying to shoot the Ender Dragon is fruitless since it can regenerate, they decide to use a fishing rod to grapple onto the Dragon's body, then steering the Dragon away from the island, causing the game to assume that the Dragon had been slain and spawn its Egg prematurely. However, when reaching the End Islands, the Dragon manages to kick them off onto an End Ship. Purple finds an Elytra, a winged cape in a chest on the ship, but the Dragon melts the ship with its acid breath. Purple saves himself by flying away from it, but Blue and Green are trapped on the ship, only having a Shulker giving them brief levitation before they eventually fall into the abyss. As Purple smells the opportunity to grab the Dragon Egg and leave, Blue and Green call out to him, clinging onto each other for dear life. Purple has a moment to think of grabbing his trophy or saving his new friends, but grabs the trophy. Blue and Green take a moment to toss the crowns Purple gave them into the abyss, signifying him breaking their trust. They are saved at the last second by their friends, who had followed them to the End.
Returning to the Village, Purple sees his victory short-lived as the Ender Dragon followed him and started melting the houses with its breath, desperately looking for its Egg. The heroes find the Village in mass panic as Purple is forced to give the Egg back to its mother, initially proud of himself for doing the right thing, the other stick figures and the Villagers are all equally cross at him for getting them into this mess. So the Villagers collectively decide to arrest Purple for treason, with the other stick figures not feeling the slightest bit sorry for him as they wave goodbye to the Villagers.
AvLOL[]
Purple makes a surprise return when the main characters decide to play a game of League of Legends, appearing as their main opponent. Green and Blue remember what happened last time they met Purple and are motivated to defeat him. Eventually they discover that Purple had cheated by messing with the game's code to clone himself. Managing to defeat him in-spite of that, they are initially happy, but then they discover Purple sulking in the corner, with the Second Coming offering him to play with his friends. So Purple reluctantly joins their team in a friendly match against the Second Coming, with Green being the one who urges him to fight alongside of them.
AvM Shorts: Season 3[]
After a long absence, Green and the others meet Purple again collecting flowers in yet another dimension. He is happy to see them and they return it, having befriended him prior. But when he wants to show them another Nether Portal, the Second Coming is initially hesitant to join his friends' excitement at seeing it, remembering that he got separated from them for a long time when they last went on a dimension-hopping adventure. However, the four overrule his suggestion to just go home and follow Purple through the portal, feeling guilty about disappointing him.
Ending up in a Parkour dimension, Purple tells them that its a competition, with Green being the one who won the first round. But Purple tells them they have to win three times to win the competition in general, but then has them go on separate paths without them knowing. Each of them receive a trophy for completing the course, making them believe that they had won, but Green saw Purple flying above him and believes that he will meet him at the end. When Green asks the Piglin judge about Purple's whereabouts, the Piglin just shrugs. But when Green tries to leave, the Piglin blocks his path. Eventually, all five of them realize that the course is just a trap and try to fight their way out of it, with Green being the first to succeed by building up to the ceiling and making a hole in it. Finding himself in a Nether Fortress, Green tries to stealth his way through it, but stumbles across Purple discussing plans with a new orange stick figure. Green is shocked to find out that Purple was conspiring against him and his friends once again, planning to steal the Game Icon from Alan's PC to give to King Orange as a power source for his staff. With the Game Icon, King Orange would create a black hole to cause mass destruction of the game's world. Hearing that Green has escaped, King Orange is furious and tells Purple to follow through with his part of the plan, while he himself makes sure that not another prisoner escapes. However, when Purple sets out, he's confronted by Green who is furious about his betrayal. Purple plays dumb and tries to distract Green, but Green doesn't buy it and fights him, managing to hold him down to buy his friends time. However, King Orange ambushes him and holds him high up in the air with his staff, then commands Purple to continue the plan. Green gets locked up by King Orange for his trouble, but there is hope as all his friends managed to escape individually.
Green eventually manages to break out of his electrified cell by abusing the game's physics. The Second Coming and Red find their way back to Alan's PC, just as Purple was trying to steal the Game Icon. They quickly figure out that Purple was just manipulating them, but only Red manages to follow him through the Nether Portal, which shuts down as the removal of the Game Icon means that any Minecraft data created on the PC had to be erased. Green manages to reunite with his friends, who had found their way back to the King's lair and explains the King and Purple's plan to them. However, the Game Icon not being in it's place meant that they couldn't use the powers the game gave them any longer, meaning they are helpless to King Orange. However, Purple arrives with the Game Icon, but the Second Coming found a separate Icon from another PC, locking King Orange into a fight. Purple however, despite King Orange refusing to let him touch his staff, is still loyal to him and commands the King's army to fight the Second Coming's friends. Realizing that the friends are quickly taking care of the brutes, Purple tries to make a quick getaway, but is interrupted by Green and Yellow holding him down. Purple calls for King Orange to help him, but he ignores Purple, leading to Purple realizing that King Orange never cared for him and fleeing the scene through another portal. Green chases after him despite Yellow telling him not to.
With the friends once again scattered across dimensions after initially stopping King Orange from destroying the game, Green ends up in a "Note Block Universe" where every living being communicates by singing. Green's musical skill allows him to quickly adapt to this new world and asks the inhabitants if they had seen Purple, all of which showing Green that they had and point him towards the direction they had seen Purple run. However, when Green is hassled by a particularly bothersome Trader, he finally spots Purple in the distance, who still runs from him the moment he sees him. Green wastes no time running after Purple, asking him why Purple betrayed his friends, but Purple continuously tries to make him shut up. However, he stops running at the top of a mountain and eventually agrees to tell Green his entire life story: he was the child of a dark blue father and a pink mother, with his father wanting to train him to become a great fighter like himself. However, Purple never had what it takes, leading to his father deriding him as weak and only intensifying the sparring with him. When his mother protested that his father was hurting their child, the father raised a hand at his wife, sending a clear message that he won't hesitate to hurt her as well. Eventually, the father abandoned the family, with the mother passing away, leaving Purple all alone. Blaming himself for his father giving up on him, Purple tried to cope by manipulating Villagers and eventually other stick figures in hopes of making his father proud. However, his father never acknowledged him, leading to his alliance with King Orange, hoping that Purple would feel better if he made him proud of him instead. But when King Orange betrayed him as well, Purple fell into a deep despair and despite acknowledging that he had good intentions, Purple eventually wept as he came to see himself as a monster. Green however hands Purple the Elytra he took from him during their fight and tells him that despite the bad things Purple did, Green and his friends would love to have him join their group. So thanks to Green, Purple realized that its not too late to stop King Orange and vowed to be a good person from now on, but Green reminds him that he doesn't have to hold himself to impossible standards.
Eventually, after a long battle, Purple helped King Orange realize what he himself needed. Meanwhile, while both Purple and King Orange ended up in the crossfire of King Orange's new black hole, Green and his friends worked together to try to put the Game Icons back into their proper places, restoring anyone who fell into the black hole. Having had their respective epiphanies, both King Orange took Purple back to his home after Green and his friends embrace Purple just like Green promised they would. They part ways on good terms, the status quo being restored for the main characters, but the situation improving for Purple and Orange.
Fanon[]
Grapevine did not have many supporters during the first season or even the third, largely because Purple's actions made shipping him with the others unappealing.
However, the ship was fuelled by their interactions in "Note Block Universe", with it providing a healthy alternative to the "Enemies-to-Friends" dynamic people wanted from ChoDark. Thus, it quickly became the most popular romantic ship for the whole series, along with Purple's most popular romantic ship and eclipsing SecGreen as Green's most popular ship.
