Gwent is the het ship between Gwen and Trent from the Total Drama fandom.
Canon[]
Total Drama Island[]
Gwen and Trent met on Total Drama Island, where they were put on the same team, the Screaming Gophers, and quickly developed an attraction towards each other. In "The Big Sleep," they bonded together during the Awake-o-Thon. In "Not Quite Famous," Heather revealed Gwen's crush to the cast and the audience by reading her diary instead of performing during the talent contest.
However, things weren't always between positive between them. In "Phobia Factor," while Chris and the other contestants leave Gwen during her challenge of being buried alive for five minutes, Trent promises to stay with her. The promise is soon broken when a mime, Trent's worst fear, scares him away. Chris's words while watching Geoff's challenge make Trent remember that Gwen was still buried alive, causing him to immediately run to dig her up. Gwen's shown to be mad at Trent for leaving her buried alive.
In spite of that, the two are back to showing attraction towards each other throughout the next several episodes (although the leaving behind incident is mentioned once), which is especially seen in "Up the Creek," where Gwen's other suitor helps them pair up for their way back to camp, or in "X-Treme Torture," where Gwen argues with Bridgette that an unsigned love letter left behind was from Trent to her.
The incident is finally brought up again in "No Pain, No Game," where it's forgiven for good. However, in the following episode, "Search and Do Not Destroy," Heather breaks up the two after witnessing their first kiss, manipulating Trent into believing Gwen's been only using him for the game, and kissing him right when Gwen arrived on the scene. The two spend the rest of the episode distraught after what happened, while Leshawna tells everyone to vote out Heather or Trent to avenge her best friend. Once Trent is eliminated due to Heather being immune, the couple explains what happened and almost share their second kiss, before Chris interrupts them.
In "Haute Camp-ture." Trent states that he roots for Gwen to win and declares his love for her. Interestingly, Gwen is back to being distant towards Trent in the finale, until he proves how dedicated he is by constantly helping her throughout the challenge and running alongside while carrying a boulder. In the special, the two team up with Leshawna to find the million dollar case and qualify for the next season.
Total Drama Action[]
While the relationship is initially off to a good start in the season's premiere, things quickly go downhill for the couple. With Gwen acting friendly with Duncan, Trent becomes jealous of their friendship, causing him to use his friendship with Lindsay to make Gwen jealous in turn a few times. Things get even worse when, after both winning in the second episode, the two become captains of the opposing teams, forcing them to compete against each other this season. With an advice from Owen about Gwen liking to win, Trent decides to sabotage challenges for his team so that Gwen's team could win. He also begins to often show an obsession with the number nine, which Duncan theorizes to be the number of letters when combining "Gwen" and "Trent" together. The constant throwing of challenges on purpose and his number nine obsession make Gwen break up with Trent.
After the Killer Grips find out Trent's been throwing challenges for their team, they believe Gwen and Trent were in on it together. To prove to them that she wasn't involved, Gwen informs them of their break-up, tells them to vote out Trent, and promises to throw the next challenge for her team and to vote for herself the next time her team loses. Trent learns about Gwen telling the Grips to vote him off in the first Aftermath episode, causing him to cry and write a sad song. He eventually forgives her in the second Aftermath in which both meet on the post-elimination show, admitting that he was to blame. This acts, preventing her from a challenge prepared for her, makes Gwen forgive Trent as well, though they remain as friends only.
Total Drama World Tour[]
In the third Aftermath, the two are shown having friendly interactions throughout the episode. Trent is shown to have moved on and accepted Duncan as Gwen's new boyfriend, and neither is harboring any negative feelings to each other for their past actions.
Fanon[]
The ship sailed as a result of the canon relationship between the two. The first hints of ship tease dated back to the first episode of the first season. Gwen was among the fan favorites of the six relationships that were canon at the time, its popularity only challenged by Duncney. However, there were still fans who found their relationship to be boring and cliche and who disapproved of Trent's role in the show being a satellite character for Gwen.
The ship lost its popularity in the second season, with Trent starting to act obsessive towards Gwen and losing challenges on purpose for her. In spite of this, the ship still remained among Total Drama's more popular ships.
As a result of the ship's popularity, their break-up was not received well and the episode in which it happened is considered to be one of the worst episodes in the franchise by many fans. The couple's shippers were sad to see their ship sink. Portion of the fanbase, however, was glad to see Gwuncan replace it. Both sides were happy when Gwen and Trent were shown to be friends in the third Aftermath of the third season, even despite Gwen's recent reputation as a boyfriend kisser. Fans were also happy to see that Trent had moved on and was no longer clingy towards Gwen (although this had already started back in the second season). The shippers were hoping this would be a hint for their potential reunion as a couple and were sad to find out this was not the case. Even today, there are a lot of fans who wish for the two to come back to each other.

Trivia[]
- A running gag in the series is they always get interrupted by somebody else when they are together.
- This is the only couple that is seen together in the promotional picture for the first season.
- They were both eliminated in the sixteenth episode of a season.
- They are both the lowest ranking members on their respective teams in Total Drama Action.[1]
- Coincidentally, Jen Masterson of 6teen (who shared the same voice actress with Gwen) also dated and dumped a character who was voiced by Trent's voice actor.
- Interestingly, they were supposed to be mortal enemies in Camp TV, the prototype version of Total Drama Island. They were shown strangling each other in one of the promotional arts.
