Jake Ji (Ji Hakho in the Korean version) is the head of Daehyeon High School and a member of the Union. Dean Kwon (Kwon Hyukjin in the Korean version) is Jake’s best friend and second-in-command. Kenny Ji (Ji Gwangseok in the Korean version) is Jake’s older brother and a former executive of Manwol.
Chapter 91
Kenny is a patient at Malkeun Hospital where he gets a reoperation done. Sometime after his reoperation, Timothy Park (Park Taegi in the Korean version) is with Dean in the lobby. Timmy asks Dean if Kenny’s reoperation went well. Dean says Kenny is recovering right now and that he’s in Room 303. They are bringing him a fruit basket.
Chapter 102
In a flashback to a year ago, Kenny is hospitalized. He had wanted to leave Manwol after they told him to recruit his brother, who had become the head of Daehyeon Middle School. As a result, Kenny was badly beaten up.
Jake and Dean visit Kenny in the hospital and both are shocked and enraged by his current condition. The doctor says Kenny won't be able to continue soccer and even after he is able to walk again, it'll be dangerous for him to run. His leg is in a very serious condition and he may need another operation.
Jake leaves and when Dean asks where he's going, Jake claims to be getting some coffee. Dean doesn't believe him and says he knows Jake is going to confront Changyeon Lee and Manwol. He tells Jake that if he goes, he'll go too. He also reminds him that Kenny is like a big brother to him too, so if Jake fights to the death, so will he. Jake thinks it's too dangerous to drag Dean into the mess and remembers Donald Na's (Na Baekjin in the Korean version) offer to join the Union.
Chapter 267
After Donald dies after being hit by a truck, Jake tells Dean that he plans on going away for the time being, something he had planned even before Donald's death. Jake thinks that he needs to now look at his surroundings. Kenny is shown sleeping inside their van. It remains unknown if he was sleeping the entire time or if he also said goodbye to Dean offscreen.
